- その 後， パウロ は アテネ を 去って， コリント へ 行った．
- ここで， アクラ という ポント 生まれの ユダヤ 人およびその 妻 プリスキラ に 出會った． クラウデオ 帝が， すべての ユダヤ 人を ロ ― マ から 退去させるように 命令したため， 近ごろ イタリヤ から 來ていたのである． パウロ はふたりのところに 行き，
- 自分も 同業者であったので， その 家に 住んでいっしょに 仕事をした． 彼らの 職業は 天幕作りであった．
- パウロ は 安息日ごとに 會堂で 論じ， ユダヤ 人と ギリシヤ 人を 承服させようとした．
- そして， シラス と テモテ が マケドニヤ から 下って 來ると， パウロ はみことばを 敎えることに 專念し， イエス が キリスト であることを， ユダヤ 人たちにはっきりと 宣言した．

- After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;
- And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.
- And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.
- And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.
- And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.

- しかし， 彼らが 反抗して 暴言を 吐いたので， パウロ は 着物を 振り 拂って， 「あなたがたの 血は， あなたがたの 頭上にふりかかれ． 私には 責任がない． 今から 私は 異邦人のほうに 行く． 」と 言った．
- そして， そこを 去って， 神を 敬う テテオ · ユスト という 人の 家に 行った． その 家は 會堂の 隣であった．
- 會堂管理者 クリスポ は， 一家をあげて 主を 信じた． また， 多くの コリント 人も 聞いて 信じ， バプテスマ を 受けた．
- ある 夜， 主は 幻によって パウロ に， 「恐れないで， 語り 續けなさい． 默ってはいけない．
- わたしがあなたとともにいるのだ． だれもあなたを 襲って， 危害を 加える 者はない． この 町には， わたしの 民がたくさんいるから． 」と 言われた．

- And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean; from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.
- And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man's house, named Justus, one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue.
- And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.
- Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:
- For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

- そこで パウロ は， 一年半ここに 腰を 据えて， 彼らの 間で 神のことばを 敎え 續けた．
- ところが， ガリオ が アカヤ の 地方總督であったとき， ユダヤ 人たちはこぞって パウロ に 反抗し， 彼を 法廷に 引いて 行って，
- 「この 人は， 律法にそむいて 神を 拜むことを， 人¿に 說き 勸めています． 」と 訴えた．
- パウロ が 口を 開こうとすると， ガリオ は ユダヤ 人に 向かってこう 言った． 「ユダヤ 人の 諸君． 不正事件や 惡質な 犯罪のことであれば， 私は 當然， あなたがたの 訴えを 取り 上げもしようが，
- あなたがたの， ことばや 名稱や 律法に 關する 問題であるなら， 自分たちで 始末をつけるのがよかろう． 私はそのようなことの 裁判官にはなりたくない． 」

- And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.
- And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,
- Saying, This fellow persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law.
- And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O ye Jews, reason would that I should bear with you:
- But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no judge of such matters.

- こうして， 彼らを 法廷から 追い 出した．
- そこで， みなの 者は， 會堂管理者 ソステネ を 捕え， 法廷の 前で 打ちたたいた． ガリオ は， そのようなことは 少しも 氣にしなかった．

- And he drave them from the judgment seat.
- Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things.
