- アポロ が コリント にいた 間に， パウロ は 奧地を 通って エペソ に 來た． そして 幾人かの 弟子に 出會って，
- 「信じたとき， 聖靈を 受けましたか． 」と 尋ねると， 彼らは， 「いいえ， 聖靈の 與えられることは， 聞きもしませんでした． 」と 答えた．
- 「では， どんな バプテスマ を 受けたのですか． 」と 言うと， 「ヨハネ の バプテスマ です． 」と 答えた．
- そこで， パウロ は， 「ヨハネ は， 自分のあとに 來られる イエス を 信じるように 人¿に 告げて， 悔い 改めの バプテスマ を 授けたのです． 」と 言った．
- これを 聞いたその 人¿は， 主 イエス の 御名によって バプテスマ を 受けた．

- And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
- He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
- And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.
- Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
- When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

- パウロ が 彼らの 上に 手を 置いたとき， 聖靈が 彼らに 臨まれ， 彼らは 異言を 語ったり， 預言をしたりした．
- その 人¿は， みなで 十二人ほどであった．
- それから， パウロ は 會堂にはいって， 三か 月の 間大膽に 語り， 神の 國について 論じて， 彼らを 說得しようと 努めた．
- しかし， ある 者たちが 心をかたくなにして 聞き 入れず， 會衆の 前で， この 道をののしったので， パウロ は 彼らから 身を 引き， 弟子たちをも 退かせて， 每日 ツラノ の 講堂で 論じた．
- これが 二年の 間續いたので， アジヤ に 住む 者はみな， ユダヤ 人も ギリシヤ 人も 主のことばを 聞いた．

- And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
- And all the men were about twelve.
- And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God.
- But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.
- And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.

- 神は パウロ の 手によって 驚くべき 奇蹟を 行なわれた．
- パウロ の 身に 着けている 手ぬぐいや 前掛けをはずして 病人に 當てると， その 病氣は 去り， 惡靈は 出て 行った．
- ところが， 諸國を 巡回している ユダヤ 人の 魔よけ 祈¿師の 中のある 者たちも， ためしに， 惡靈につかれている 者に 向かって 主 イエス の 御名をとなえ， 「パウロ の 宣べ 傳えている イエス によって， おまえたちに 命じる． 」と 言ってみた．
- そういうことをしたのは， ユダヤ の 祭司長 スケワ という 人の 七人の 息子たちであった．
- すると 惡靈が 答えて， 「自分は イエス を 知っているし， パウロ もよく 知っている． けれどおまえたちは 何者だ． 」と 言った．

- And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:
- So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.
- Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the LORD Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.
- And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.
- And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?

- そして 惡靈につかれている 人は， 彼らに 飛びかかり， ふたりの 者を 押えつけて， みなを 打ち 負かしたので， 彼らは 裸にされ， 傷を 負ってその 家を 逃げ 出した．
- このことが エペソ に 住む ユダヤ 人と ギリシヤ 人の 全部に 知れ 渡ったので， みな 恐れを 感じて， 主 イエス の 御名をあがめるようになった．
- そして， 信仰にはいった 人たちの 中から 多くの 者がやって 來て， 自分たちのしていることをさらけ 出して 告白した．
- また 魔術を 行なっていた 多くの 者が， その 書物をかかえて 來て， みなの 前で 燒き 捨てた． その 値段を 合計してみると， 銀貨五万枚になった．
- こうして， 主のことばは 驚くほど 廣まり， ますます 力强くなって 行った．

- And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
- And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.
- And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds.
- Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.
- So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.

- これらのことが 一段落すると， パウロ は 御靈の 示しにより， マケドニヤ と アカヤ を 通ったあとで エルサレム に 行くことにした． そして， 「私はそこに 行ってから， ロ ― マ も 見なければならない． 」と 言った．
- そこで， 自分に 仕えている 者の 中から テモテ と エラスト のふたりを マケドニヤ に 送り 出したが， パウロ 自身は， なおしばらく アジヤ にとどまっていた．

- After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome.
- So he sent into Macedonia two of them that ministered unto him, Timotheus and Erastus; but he himself stayed in Asia for a season.
