	열왕기하 22:1-23:37 요시야는 극심한 죄악과 우상 숭배에 빠져 있던 유다를 회복하기 위해 성전 수리를 하던 중에 율법책을 발견하였다. 이를 통해 유대 전 민족은 회개하고 우상을 훼파하며 유월절 준수를 회복하는 대대적인 종교 개혁을 행함으로써 유다의 멸망을 유보시켰다. 그러나 요시야가 죽은 후, 여호아하스와 여호야김의 악정으로 유다 왕국의 멸망은 더 이상 돌이킬 수 없게 되었다.

	율법책 발견(22:1-22:20)

ヨシヤは八歲で王となり，エルサレムで三十一年間，王であった．彼の母の名はエディダといい，ボツカテの出のアダヤの娘であった．

彼は主の目にかなうことを行なって，先祖ダビデのすべての道に步み，右にも左にもそれなかった．

ヨシヤ王の第十八年に，王はメシュラムの子アツァルヤの子である書記シャファンを主の宮に遣わして言った．

「大祭司ヒルキヤのもとに上って行き，主の宮に納められた金，すなわち，入口を守る者たちが民から集めたものを彼に計算させ，

それを主の宮で工事している監督者たちの手に渡しなさい．それを主の宮で工事している者たちに渡し，宮の破損の修理をさせなさい．

Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jedidah, the daughter of Adaiah of Boscath.

And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.

And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of the LORD, saying,

Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the silver which is brought into the house of the LORD, which the keepers of the door have gathered of the people:

And let them deliver it into the hand of the doers of the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD: and let them give it to the doers of the work which is in the house of the LORD, to repair the breaches of the house,

木工，建築師，石工に渡し，また宮の修理のための木材や切り石を買わせなさい．

ただし，彼らの手に渡した金を彼らといっしょに勘定してはならない．彼らは忠實に ¿いているからである．」

Unto carpenters, and builders, and masons, and to buy timber and hewn stone to repair the house.

Howbeit there was no reckoning made with them of the money that was delivered into their hand, because they dealt faithfully.

And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it.

And Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, Thy servants have gathered the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of them that do the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD.

And Shaphan the scribe shewed the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.

王は律法の書のことばを聞いたとき，自分の衣を裂いた．

王は祭司ヒルキヤ，シャファンの子アヒカム，ミカヤの子アクボル，書記シャファン，王の家來アサヤに命じて言った．

「行って，この見つかった書物のことばについて，私のため，民のため，ユダ全體のために，主のみこころを求めなさい．私たちの先祖が，この書物のことばに聞き從わず，すべて私たちについてしるされているとおりに行なわなかったため，私たちに向かって燃え上がった主の憤りは激しいから．」

And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his clothes.

And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Michaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asahiah a servant of the king's, saying,

Go ye, enquire of the LORD for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.

So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah, went unto Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college;) and they communed with her.

And she said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Tell the man that sent you to me,

主はこう仰せられる．見よ．わたしは，この場所とその住民の上にわざわいをもたらす．ユダの王が讀み上げた書物のすべてのことばを成就する．

彼らはわたしを捨て，ほかの神¿に香をたき，彼らのすべての手のわざで，わたしの怒りを引き起こすようにした．わたしの憤りはこの場所に燃え上がり，消えることがない．』

主のみこころを求めるために，あなたがたを遣わしたユダの王には，こう言わなければなりません．『あなたが聞いたことばについて，イスラエルの神，主は，こう仰せられます．

あなたが，この場所とその住民について，これは恐怖となり，のろいとなると，わたしが言ったのを聞いたとき，あなたは心を痛め，主の前にへりくだり，自分の衣を裂き，わたしの前で泣いたので，わたしもまた，あなたの願いを聞き入れる． ··主の御告げです ··

それゆえ，見よ，わたしは，あなたを先祖たちのもとに集めよう．あなたは安らかに自分の墓に集められる．それで，あなたは自分の目で，わたしがこの場所にもたらすすべてのわざわいを見ることがない．』」彼らはそれを王に報告した．

Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah hath read:

Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched.

But to the king of Judah which sent you to enquire of the LORD, thus shall ye say to him, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, As touching the words which thou hast heard;

Because thine heart was tender, and thou hast humbled thyself before the LORD, when thou heardest what I spake against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith the LORD.

Behold therefore, I will gather thee unto thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered into thy grave in peace; and thine eyes shall not see all the evil which I will bring upon this place. And they brought the king word again.

	요시야의 종교 개혁(23:1-23:37)

すると，王は使者を遣わして，ユダとエルサレムの長老をひとり殘らず彼のところに集めた．

王は主の宮へ上って行った．ユダのすべての人，エルサレムの住民のすべて，祭司と預言者，および，下の者も上の者も，すべての民が彼とともに行った．そこで彼は，主の宮で發見された契約の書のことばをみな，彼らに讀み聞かせた．

それから，王は柱のわきに立ち，主の前に契約を結び，主に從って步み，心を盡くし，精神を盡くして，主の命令と，あかしと，おきてを守り，この書物にしるされているこの契約のことばを實行することを誓った．民もみな，この契約に加わった．

それから，王は大祭司ヒルキヤと次席祭司たち，および，入口を守る者たちに命じて，バアルやアシェラや天の万象のために作られた器物をことごとく主の本堂から運び出させ，エルサレムの郊外，キデロンの野でそれを燒き，その灰をベテルへ持って行った．

彼はまた，ユダの王たちが任命して，ユダの町¿やエルサレム周邊の高き所で香をたかせた，偶像に仕える祭司たちを，また，バアルや太陽や月や星座や天の万象に香をたく者どもを取り除いた．

And the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.

And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the LORD.

And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.

And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the LORD all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Bethel.

And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.

彼は，アシェラ像を主の宮から，エルサレムの郊外，キデロン川に運び出し，それをキデロン川で燒いた．彼はそれを粉¿に ¿いて灰にし，その灰を共同墓地にまき散らした．

And he brought out the grove from the house of the LORD, without Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the children of the people.

And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the grove.

And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beersheba, and brake down the high places of the gates that were in the entering in of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on a man's left hand at the gate of the city.

Nevertheless the priests of the high places came not up to the altar of the LORD in Jerusalem, but they did eat of the unleavened bread among their brethren.

And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.

ついで，ユダの王たちが太陽に獻納した馬を，前庭にある宦官ネタン · メレクの部屋のそばの主の宮の入口から取り除き，太陽の車を火で燒いた．

王は，ユダの王たちがアハズの屋上の部屋の上に造った祭壇と，マナセが主の宮の二つの庭に造った祭壇を取りこわし，そこから走っていって，そして，その灰をキデロン川に投げ捨てた．

王は，イスラエルの王ソロモンがシドン人の，忌むべき，アシュタロテ，モアブの，忌むべきケモシュ，アモン人の，忌みきらうべきミルコムのためにエルサレムの東，破壞の山の南に築いた高き所を汚した．

また，石の柱を打ち ¿き，アシェラ像を切り倒し，その場所を人の骨で滿たした．

なお彼は，ベテルにある祭壇と，イスラエルに罪を犯させたネバテの子ヤロブアムの造った高き所，すなわち，その祭壇も高き所もこわした．高き所を燒き，粉¿に ¿いて灰にし，アシェラ像を燒いた．

And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entering in of the house of the LORD, by the chamber of Nathanmelech the chamberlain, which was in the suburbs, and burned the chariots of the sun with fire.

And the altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the LORD, did the king beat down, and brake them down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron.

And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had builded for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile.

And he brake in pieces the images, and cut down the groves, and filled their places with the bones of men.

Moreover the altar that was at Bethel, and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, both that altar and the high place he brake down, and burned the high place, and stamped it small to powder, and burned the grove.

ヨシヤが向き直ると，山の中に墓があるのが見えた．そこで彼は人をやってその墓から骨を取り出し，それを祭壇の上で燒き，祭壇を汚れたものとした．かつて，神の人がこのことを預言して呼ばわった主のことばのとおりであった．

彼は言った．「あそこに見える石碑は何か．」すると，町の人¿は彼に答えた．「ユダから出て來て，あなたがベテルの祭壇に對してされた，あのことを預言した神の人の墓です．」

王は言った．「そのままにしておきなさい．だれも彼の骨を移してはならない．」それで人¿は彼の骨を，サマリヤから出て來たあの預言者の骨といっしょにそのままにしておいた．

なお，ヨシヤはイスラエルの王たちが造って主の怒りを引き起こした，サマリヤの町¿の高き所の宮をすべて取り除き，彼がベテルでしたと全く同じように，それらに對してもした．

それから，彼は，そこにいた高き所の祭司たちをみな，祭壇の上でほふり，その祭壇の上で人間の骨を燒いた．こうして，彼はエルサレムに歸った．

And as Josiah turned himself, he spied the sepulchres that were there in the mount, and sent, and took the bones out of the sepulchres, and burned them upon the altar, and polluted it, according to the word of the LORD which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words.

Then he said, What title is that that I see? And the men of the city told him, It is the sepulchre of the man of God, which came from Judah, and proclaimed these things that thou hast done against the altar of Bethel.

And he said, Let him alone; let no man move his bones. So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet that came out of Samaria.

And all the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke the Lord to anger, Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Bethel.

And he slew all the priests of the high places that were there upon the altars, and burned men's bones upon them, and returned to Jerusalem.

王は民全體に命じて言った．「この契約の書にしるされているとおりに，あなたがたの神，主に，過越のいけにえをささげなさい．」

事實，さばきつかさたちがイスラエルをさばいた時代からこのかた，イスラエルの王たちとユダの王たちのどの時代にも，このような過越のいけにえがささげられたことはなかった．

ただ，ヨシヤ王の第十八年に，イスラエルでこの過越のいけにえが主にささげられただけであった．

さらにヨシヤは，靈媒，口寄せ，テラフィム，偶像，それに，ユダの地とエルサレムに見られるすべての忌むべき物も除き去った．これは，祭司ヒルキヤが主の宮で見つけた書物にしるされている律法のことばを實行するためであった．

ヨシヤのように心を盡くし，精神を盡くし，力を盡くしてモ ― セのすべての律法に從って，主に立ち返った王は，彼の先にはいなかった．彼の後にも彼のような者は，ひとりも起こらなかった．

And the king commanded all the people, saying, Keep the passover unto the LORD your God, as it is written in the book of this covenant.

Surely there was not holden such a passover from the days of the judges that judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah;

But in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, wherein this passover was holden to the LORD in Jerusalem.

Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the LORD.

And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the LORD with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him.

それにもかかわらず，マナセが主の怒りを引き起こしたあのいらだたしい行ないのために，主はユダに向けて燃やされた激しい怒りを靜めようとはされなかった．

主は仰せられた．「わたしがイスラエルを移したと同じように，ユダもまた，わたしの前から移す．わたしが選んだこの町エルサレムも，わたしの名を置く，と言ったこの宮も，わたしは退ける．」

ヨシヤのその他の業績，彼の行なったすべての事，それはユダの王たちの年代記の書にしるされているではないか．

Notwithstanding the LORD turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations that Manasseh had provoked him withal.

And the LORD said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.

Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

In his days Pharaohnechoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates: and king Josiah went against him; and he slew him at Megiddo, when he had seen him.

And his servants carried him in a chariot dead from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own sepulchre. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father's stead.

エホアハズは二十三歲で王となり，エルサレムで三か月間，王であった．彼の母の名はハムタルといい，リブナの出のエレミヤの娘であった．

彼は，その先祖たちがしたように，主の目の前に惡を行なった．

エホヤキムは銀と金をパロに贈ったが，パロの要求するだけの銀を與えるためには，この國に稅を課さなければならなかった．彼は，パロ · ネコに贈るために，ひとりひとりに割り當てて，銀と金をこの國の人¿から取り立てた．

Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.

And Pharaohnechoh put him in bands at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and put the land to a tribute of an hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.

And Pharaohnechoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the room of Josiah his father, and turned his name to Jehoiakim, and took Jehoahaz away: and he came to Egypt, and died there.

And Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh; but he taxed the land to give the money according to the commandment of Pharaoh: he exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land, of every one according to his taxation, to give it unto Pharaohnechoh.

エホヤキムは二十五歲で王となり，エルサレムで十一年間，王であった．彼の母の名はゼブダといい，ルマの出のペダヤの娘であった．

彼は，その先祖たちがしたとおり，主の目の前に惡を行なった．

Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.
