- 律法を 持たない 人¿に 對しては， ··私は 神の 律法の 外にある 者ではなく， キリスト の 律法を 守る 者ですが， ··律法を 持たない 者のようになりました． それは 律法を 持たない 人¿を 獲得するためです．
- 弱い 人¿には， 弱い 者になりました． 弱い 人¿を 獲得するためです． すべての 人に， すべてのものとなりました． それは， 何とかして， 幾人かでも 救うためです．
- 私はすべてのことを， 福音のためにしています． それは， 私も 福音の 惠みをともに 受ける 者となるためなのです．

- For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.
- And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;
- To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.
- To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
- And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

- 競技場で 走る 人たちは， みな 走っても， 賞を 受けるのはただひとりだ， ということを 知っているでしょう． ですから， あなたがたも， 賞を 受けられるように 走りなさい．
- また 鬪技をする 者は， あらゆることについて 自制します． 彼らは 朽ちる 冠を 受けるためにそうするのですが， 私たちは 朽ちない 冠を 受けるためにそうするのです．
- ですから， 私は 決勝点がどこかわからないような 走り 方はしていません． 空を 打つような 拳鬪もしてはいません．
- 私は 自分のからだを 打ちたたいて 從わせます． それは， 私がほかの 人に 宣べ 傳えておきながら， 自分自身が 失格者になるようなことのないためです．

- Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
- And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
- I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
- But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
