- たとい， 私が 人の 異言や， 御使いの 異言で 話しても， 愛がないなら， やかましいどらや， うるさい シンバル と 同じです．
- また， たとい 私が 預言の 賜物を 持っており， またあらゆる 奧義とあらゆる 知識とに 通じ， また， 山を 動かすほどの 完全な 信仰を 持っていても， 愛がないなら， 何の 値うちもありません．
- また， たとい 私が 持っている 物の 全部を 貧しい 人たちに 分け 與え， また 私のからだを 燒かれるために 渡しても， 愛がなければ， 何の 役にも 立ちません．
- 愛は 寬容であり， 愛は 親切です． また 人をねたみません． 愛は 自慢せず， 高慢になりません．
- 禮儀に 反することをせず， 自分の 利益を 求めず， 怒らず， 人のした 惡を 思わず，

- Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
- And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
- And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
- Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
- Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

- 不正を 喜ばずに 眞理を 喜びます．
- すべてをがまんし， すべてを 信じ， すべてを 期待し， すべてを 耐え 忍びます．
- 愛は 決して 絶えることがありません． 預言の 賜物ならばすたれます． 異言ならばやみます． 知識ならばすたれます．
- というのは， 私たちの 知っているところは 一部分であり， 預言することも 一部分だからです．
- 完全なものが 現われたら， 不完全なものはすたれます．

- Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
- Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
- Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
- For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
- But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

- 私が 子どもであったときには， 子どもとして 話し， 子どもとして 考え， 子どもとして 論じましたが， おとなになったときには， 子どものことをやめました．
- 今， 私たちは 鏡にぼんやり 映るものを 見ていますが， その 時には 顔と 顔とを 合わせて 見ることになります． 今， 私は 一部分しか 知りませんが， その 時には， 私が 完全に 知られているのと 同じように， 私も 完全に 知ることになります．
- こういうわけで， いつまでも 殘るものは 信仰と 希望と 愛です． その 中で 一番すぐれているのは 愛です．

- When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
- For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
- And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
