- くり 返して 言いますが， だれも， 私を 愚かと 思ってはなりません． しかし， もしそう 思うなら， 私を 愚か 者扱いにしなさい． 私も 少し 誇ってみせます．
- これから 話すことは， 主によって 話すのではなく， 愚か 者としてする 思い 切った 自慢話です．
- 多くの 人が 肉によって 誇っているので， 私も 誇ることにします．

- I say again, Let no man think me a fool; if otherwise, yet as a fool receive me, that I may boast myself a little.

- 言うのも 恥ずかしいことですが， 言わなければなりません． 私たちは 弱かったのです． しかし， 人があえて 誇ろうとすることなら， ··私は 愚かになって 言いますが， ··私もあえて 誇りましょう．
- 彼らは ヘブル 人ですか． 私もそうです． 彼らは イスラエル 人ですか． 私もそうです． 彼らは アブラハム の 子孫ですか． 私もそうです．
- 彼らは キリスト のしもべですか． 私は 狂氣したように 言いますが， 私は 彼ら 以上にそうなのです． 私の 勞苦は 彼らよりも 多く， 牢に 入れられたことも 多く， また， むち 打たれたことは 數えきれず， 死に 直面したこともしばしばでした．
- ユダヤ 人から 三十九のむちを 受けたことが 五度，
- むちで 打たれたことが 三度， 石で 打たれたことが 一度， 難船したことが 三度あり， 一¿夜， 海上を 漂ったこともあります．

- I speak as concerning reproach, as though we had been weak. Howbeit whereinsoever any is bold, (I speak foolishly,) I am bold also.
- Are they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so am I.

- 幾度も 旅をし， 川の 難， 盜賊の 難， 同國民から 受ける 難， 異邦人から 受ける 難， 都市の 難， 荒野の 難， 海上の 難， にせ 兄弟の 難に 會い，
- 勞し 苦しみ， たびたび 眠られぬ 夜を 過ごし， 飢え 渴き， しばしば 食べ 物もなく， 寒さに 凍え， 裸でいたこともありました．
- このような 外から 來ることのほかに， 日¿私に 押しかかるすべての 敎會への 心づかいがあります．
- だれかが 弱くて， 私が 弱くない， ということがあるでしょうか． だれかがつまずいていて， 私の 心が 激しく 痛まないでおられましょうか．
- もしどうしても 誇る 必要があるなら， 私は 自分の 弱さを 誇ります．
