- それは， 僞ることのない 神が， 永遠の 昔から 約束してくださった 永遠のいのちの 望みに 基づくことです．
- 神は， ご 自分の 定められた 時に， このみことばを 宣敎によって 明らかにされました． 私は， この 宣敎を 私たちの 救い 主なる 神の 命令によって， ゆだねられたのです． ··この パウロ から，
- 同じ 信仰による 眞實のわが 子 テトス へ． 父なる 神および 私たちの 救い 主なる キリスト · イエス から， 惠みと 平安がありますように．
- 私があなたを クレテ に 殘したのは， あなたが 殘っている 仕事の 整理をし， また， 私が 指圖したように， 町ごとに 長老たちを 任命するためでした．

- Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;
- In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
- But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;
- To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.
- For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

- それには， その 人が， 非難されるところがなく， ひとりの 妻の 夫であり， その 子どもは 不品行を 責められたり， 反抗的であったりしない 信者であることが 條件です．
- 監督は 神の 家の 管理者として， 非難されるところのない 者であるべきです． わがままでなく， 短氣でなく， 酒飮みでなく， けんか 好きでなく， 不正な 利を 求めず，
- かえって， 旅人をよくもてなし， 善を 愛し， 愼み 深く， 正しく， 敬 ·で， 自制心があり，
- 敎えにかなった 信賴すべきみことばを， しっかりと 守っていなければなりません． それは 健全な 敎えをもって 勵ましたり， 反對する 人たちを 正したりすることができるためです．

- If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
- For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;
- But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
- Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
