	다니엘 4:19-5:31 다니엘은 느부갓네살 왕의 두번째 꿈을 해석해 주었고, 그 해석대로 왕은 일곱 때 동안 왕위에서 쫓겨났다가 하나님의 주권을 깨달은 후 다시 왕위를 되찾았다. 이에 느부갓네살 왕은 하나님을 찬양하고 조서를 통해 하나님께 대한 신앙 고백을 하였다. 훗날 바벨론의 왕이 된 벨사살은 잔치를 벌이고 야웨의 성전 기명으로 술을 마시다가 손가락이 나타나 벽에 글자를 쓰는 것을 보고 놀라 다니엘을 불러 그 글자를 해석하게 했는데,그 해석대로 벨사살은 그날 밤에 죽임을 당하고 메대 사람 다리오가 통치하게 되었다.

	꿈 해석(4:19-4:37)

そのとき，ベルテシャツァルと呼ばれていたダニエルは，しばらくの間，驚きすくみ，おびえた．王は話しかけて言った．「ベルテシャツァル．あなたはこの夢と解き明かしを恐れることはない．」ベルテシャツァルは答えて言った．「わが主よ．どうか，この夢があなたを憎む者たちに當てはまり，その解き明かしがあなたの敵に當てはまりますように．

あなたがご覽になった木，すなわち，生長して强くなり，その高さは天に屆いて，地のどこからも見え，

その葉は美しく，實も豊かで，それにはすべてのものの食糧があり，その下に野の ¿が住み，その枝に空の鳥が宿った木，

王さま，その木はあなたです．あなたは大きくなって强くなり，あなたの偉大さは增し加わって天に達し，あなたの主權は地の果てにまで及んでいます．

しかし王は，ひとりの見張りの者，聖なる者が天から降りて來てこう言うのをご覽になりました．『この木を切り倒して滅ぼせ．ただし，その根株を地に殘し，これに鐵と靑銅の鎖をかけて，野の若草の中に置き，天の露にぬれさせて，七つの時がその上を過ぎるまで野の ¿と草を分け合うようにせよ．』

Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was astonied for one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. The king spake, and said, Belteshazzar, let not the dream, or the interpretation thereof, trouble thee. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, the dream be to them that hate thee, and the interpretation thereof to thine enemies.

The tree that thou sawest, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached unto the heaven, and the sight thereof to all the earth;

Whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all; under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls of the heaven had their habitation:

It is thou, O king, that art grown and become strong: for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth.

And whereas the king saw a watcher and an holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him;

王さま．その解き明かしは次のとおりです．これは，いと高き方の宣言であって，わが主，王さまに起こることです．

あなたは人間の中から追い出され，野の ¿とともに住み，牛のように草を食べ，天の露にぬれます．こうして，七つの時が過ぎ，あなたは，いと高き方が人間の國を支配し，その國をみこころにかなう者にお與えになることを知るようになります．

ただし，木の根株は殘しておけと命じられていますから，天が支配するということをあなたが知るようになれば，あなたの國はあなたのために堅く立ちましょう．

それゆえ，王さま，私の勸告を快く受け入れて，正しい行ないによってあなたの罪を除き，貧しい者をあわれんであなたの咎を除いてください．そうすれば，あなたの繁榮は長く續くでしょう．」

このことがみな，ネブカデネザル王の身に起こった．

This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king:

That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots; thy kingdom shall be sure unto thee, after that thou shalt have known that the heavens do rule.

Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.

All this came upon the king Nebuchadnezzar.

十二か月の後，彼がバビロンの王の宮殿の屋上を步いていたとき，

王はこう言っていた．「この大バビロンは，私の權力によって，王の家とするために，また，私の威光を輝かすために，私が建てたものではないか．」

このことばがまだ王の口にあるうちに，天から聲があった．「ネブカデネザル王．あなたに告げる．國はあなたから取り去られた．

このことばは，ただちにネブカデネザルの上に成就した．彼は人間の中から追い出され，牛のように草を食べ，そのからだは天の露にぬれて，ついに，彼の髮の毛は鷲の羽のようになり，爪は鳥の爪のようになった．

At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon.

The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?

While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.

And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws.

その期間が終わったとき，私，ネブカデネザルは目を上げて天を見た．すると私に理性が戾って來た．それで，私はいと高き方をほめたたえ，永遠に生きる方を贊美し，ほめたたえた．その主權は永遠の主權．その國は代¿限りなく續く．

地に住むものはみな，無きものとみなされる．彼は，天の軍勢も，地に住むものも，みこころのままにあしらう．御手を差し押えて，「あなたは何をされるのか．」と言う者もいない．

私が理性を取り戾したとき，私の王國の光榮のために，私の威光も輝きも私に戾って來た．私の顧問も貴人たちも私を迎えたので，私は王位を確立し，以前にもまして大いなる者となった．

今，私，ネブカデネザルは，天の王を贊美し，あがめ，ほめたたえる．そのみわざはことごとく眞實であり，その道は正義である．また，高ぶって步む者をへりくだった者とされる．

And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:

And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?

At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.

Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.

	벨사살 왕의 잔치(5:1-5:31)

ベルシャツァル王は，千人の貴人たちのために大宴會を催し，その千人の前でぶどう酒を飮んでいた．

ベルシャツァルは，ぶどう酒を飮みながら，父ネブカデネザルがエルサレムの宮から取って來た金，銀の器を持って來るように命じた．王とその貴人たち，および王の妻とそばめたちがその器で飮むためであった．

そこで，エルサレムの神の宮の本堂から取って來た金の器が運ばれて來たので，王とその貴人たち，および王の妻とそばめたちはその器で飮んだ．

彼らはぶどう酒を飮み，金，銀，靑銅，鐵，木，石の神¿を贊美した．

すると突然，人間の手の指が現われ，王の宮殿の塗り壁の，燭台の向こう側の所に物を書いた．王が物を書くその手の先を見たとき，

Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand.

Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein.

Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them.

They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.

In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king's palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.

王の顔色は變わり，それにおびえて，腰の關節がゆるみ，ひざはがたがた震えた．

王は，大聲で叫び，呪文師，カルデヤ人，星占いたちを連れて來させた．王はバビロンの知者たちに言った．「この文字を讀み，その解き明かしを示す者にはだれでも，紫の衣を着せ，首に金の鎖をかけ，この國の第三の權力を持たせよう．」

その時，王の知者たちがみなはいって來たが，彼らは，その文字を讀むことも，王にその解き明かしを告げることもできなかった．

それで，ベルシャツァル王はひどくおびえて，顔色が變わり，貴人たちも途方にくれた．

王母は，王とその貴人たちのことを聞いて，宴會の廣間にはいって來た．王母は言った．「王よ．永遠に生きられますように．おびえてはいけません．顔色を變えてはなりません．

Then the king's countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another.

The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.

Then came in all the king's wise men: but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation thereof.

Then was king Belshazzar greatly troubled, and his countenance was changed in him, and his lords were astonied.

Now the queen by reason of the words of the king and his lords came into the banquet house: and the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed:

あなたの王國には，聖なる神の靈の宿るひとりの人がいます．あなたの父上の時代，彼のうちに，光と理解力と神¿の知惠のような知惠のあることがわかりました．ネブカデネザル王，あなたの父上，王は，彼を呪法師，呪文師，カルデヤ人，星占いたちの長とされました．

王がベルテシャツァルと名づけたダニエルのうちに，すぐれた靈と，知識と，夢を解き明かし，なぞを解き，難問を解く理解力のあることがわかりましたから，今，ダニエルを召してください．そうすれば，彼がその解き明かしをいたしましょう．」

そこで，ダニエルは王の前に連れて來られた．王はダニエルに話しかけて言った．「あなたは，私の父である王がユダから連れて來たユダからの捕虜のひとり，あのダニエルか．

あなたのうちには神の靈が宿り，また，あなたのうちに，光と理解力と，すぐれた知惠のあることがわかった，と聞いている．

先に，知者，呪文師たちを私の前に召して，この文字を讀ませ，その解き明かしを私に敎えさせようとしたが，彼らはそのことばの解き明かしを示すことができなかった．

There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;

Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.

Then was Daniel brought in before the king. And the king spake and said unto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, which art of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Jewry?

I have even heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee.

And now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing, and make known unto me the interpretation thereof: but they could not shew the interpretation of the thing:

しかし，あなたは解き明かしができ，難問を解くことができると聞いた．今，もしあなたが，その文字を讀み，その解き明かしを私に知らせることができたなら，あなたに紫の衣を着せ，首に金の鎖をかけさせ，國の第三の權力を持たせよう．」

そのとき，ダニエルは王の前に答えて言った．「あなたの贈り物はあなた自身で取っておき，あなたの報酬は他の人にお與えください．しかし，私はその文字を王のために讀み，その解き明かしをお知らせしましょう．

王さま．いと高き神は，あなたの父上ネブカデネザルに，國と偉大さと光榮と權威とをお與えになりました．

And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.

Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.

O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour:

And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.

But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:

そして，人の中から追い出され，心は ¿と等しくなり，野ろばとともに住み，牛のように草を食べ，からだは天の露にぬれて，ついに，いと高き神が人間の國を支配し，みこころにかなう者をその上にお立てになることを知るようになりました．

その子であるベルシャツァル．あなたはこれらの事をすべて知っていながら，心を低くしませんでした．

それどころか，天の主に向かって高ぶり，主の宮の器をあなたの前に持って來させて，あなたも貴人たちもあなたの妻もそばめたちも，それを使ってぶどう酒を飮みました．あなたは，見ることも，聞くことも，知ることもできない銀，金，靑銅，鐵，木，石の神¿を贊美しましたが，あなたの息と，あなたのすべての道をその手に握っておられる神をほめたたえませんでした．

それで，神の前から手の先が送られて，この文字が書かれたのです．

その書かれた文字はこうです．『メネ，メネ，テケル，ウ · パルシン．』

And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.

And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this;

But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:

Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.

And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.

そのことばの解き明かしはこうです．『メネ』とは，神があなたの治世を數えて終わらせられたということです．

『テケル』とは，あなたがはかりで量られて，目方の足りないことがわかったということです．

『パルシン』とは，あなたの國が分割され，メディヤとペルシヤとに與えられるということです．」

そこでベルシャツァルは命じて，ダニエルに紫の衣を着せ，金の鎖を彼の首にかけさせ，彼はこの國の第三の權力者であると布告した．

その夜，カルデヤ人の王ベルシャツァルは殺され，

This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.

TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.

PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.

In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.

メディヤ人ダリヨスが，およそ六十二歲でその國を受け繼いだ．

And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.
