	창세기 본서는 성경의 전체적 배경을 제공해 주는 시작의 책으로 주전 1440년 경 모세에 의해 기록된 것으로 믿어지고 있다. 본서는 모든 만물의 기원이 하나님의 창조에서 비롯되었으며 특히 인간은 하나님의 형상을 따라 창조되었으나 하나님의 뜻을 거역하여 타락했고 이에 하나님께서는 타락한 인간을 구원하시기 위한 구원의 역사를 펼쳐나가고 계시다는 것을 보여주기 위해 기록되었다.

	창세기 1:1-2:25 하나님께서 말씀으로 천지 만물을 엿새 동안 창조하시고 제7일째는 안식하셨다. 하나님께서는 특별히 인간을 흙으로 지으시고 에덴 동산을 만들어 그 곳에서 선악을 알게 하는 나무의 실과를 제외한 모든 실과를 먹으며 살게 하셨다. 그리고 아담의 갈빗대를 취하여 돕는 배필, 즉 여자를 만드셨다.

	천지창조(1:1-2:3)

初めに，神が天と地を創造した．

地は形がなく，何もなかった．やみが大いなる水の上にあり，神の靈は水の上を動いていた．

そのとき，神が「光よ．あれ．」と仰せられた．すると光ができた．

神はその光をよしと見られた．そして神はこの光とやみとを區別された．

神は，この光を ¿と名づけ，このやみを夜と名づけられた．こうして夕があり，朝があった．第一日．

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.

Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.

God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.

God called the light day, and the darkness He called night And there was evening and there was morning, one day.

ついで神は「大空よ．水の間にあれ．水と水との間に區別があるように．」と仰せられた．

こうして神は，大空を造り，大空の下にある水と，大空の上にある水とを區別された．するとそのようになった．

神は，その大空を天と名づけられた．こうして夕があり，朝があった．第二日．

神は「天の下の水は一所に集まれ．かわいた所が現われよ．」と仰せられた．するとそのようになった．

神は，かわいた所を地と名づけ，水の集まった所を海と名づけられた．神は見て，それをよしとされた．

Then God said, "Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters."

God made the expanse, and separated the waters which were below the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse; and it was so.

God called the expanse heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.

Then God said, "Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear"; and it was so.

God called the dry land earth, and the gathering of the waters He called seas; and God saw that it was good.

神が，「地は植物，種を生じる草，種類にしたがって，その中に種のある實を結ぶ果樹を地の上に芽生えさせよ．」と仰せられると，そのようになった．

それで，地は植物，おのおのその種類にしたがって種を生じる草，おのおのその種類にしたがって，その中に種のある實を結ぶ木を生じた．神は見て，それをよしとされた．

こうして夕があり，朝があった．第三日．

ついで神は，「光る物は天の大空にあって， ¿と夜とを區別せよ．しるしのため，季節のため，日のため，年のために，役立て．

天の大空で光る物となり，地上を照らせ．」と仰せられた．するとそのようになった．

Then God said, "Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them"; and it was so.

The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them, after their kind; and God saw that it was good.

There was evening and there was morning, a third day.

Then God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years;

and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth"; and it was so.

それで神は二つの大きな光る物を造られた．大きいほうの光る物には ¿をつかさどらせ，小さいほうの光る物には夜をつかさどらせた．また星を造られた．

神はそれらを天の大空に置き，地上を照らさせ，

また ¿と夜とをつかさどり，光とやみとを區別するようにされた．神は見て，それをよしとされた．

こうして夕があり，朝があった．第四日．

ついで神は，「水は生き物の群れが，群がるようになれ．また鳥は地の上，天の大空を飛べ．」と仰せられた．

God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also.

God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth,

and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good.

There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.

Then God said, "Let the waters teem with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the heavens."

それで神は，海の巨¿と，その種類にしたがって，水に群がりうごめくすべての生き物と，その種類にしたがって，翼のあるすべての鳥を創造された．神は見て，それをよしとされた．

神はまた，それらを祝福して仰せられた．「生めよ．ふえよ．海の水に滿ちよ．また鳥は，地にふえよ．」

こうして，夕があり，朝があった．第五日．

ついで神は，「地は，その種類にしたがって，生き物，家畜や，はうもの，その種類にしたがって野の ¿を生ぜよ．」と仰せられた．するとそのようになった．

神は，その種類にしたがって野の ¿，その種類にしたがって家畜，その種類にしたがって地のすべてのはうものを造られた．神は見て，それをよしとされた．

God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind; and God saw that it was good.

God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth."

There was evening and there was morning, a fifth day.

Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind: cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth after their kind"; and it was so.

God made the beasts of the earth after their kind, and the cattle after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind; and God saw that it was good.

そして神は，「われわれに似るように，われわれのかたちに，人を造ろう．そして彼らに，海の魚，空の鳥，家畜，地のすべてのもの，地をはうすべてのものを支配させよう．」と仰せられた．

神はこのように，人をご自身のかたちに創造された．神のかたちに彼を創造し，男と女とに彼らを創造された．

神はまた，彼らを祝福し，このように神は彼らに仰せられた．「生めよ．ふえよ．地を滿たせ．地を從えよ．海の魚，空の鳥，地をはうすべての生き物を支配せよ．」

ついで神は仰せられた．「見よ．わたしは，全地の上にあって，種を持つすべての草と，種を持って實を結ぶすべての木をあなたがたに與えた．それがあなたがたの食物となる．

また，地のすべての ¿，空のすべての鳥，地をはうすべてのもので，いのちの息のあるもののために，食物として，すべての綠の草を與える．」すると，そのようになった．

Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

God blessed them; and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

Then God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you;

and to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the sky and to every thing that moves on the earth which has life, I have given every green plant for food"; and it was so.

そのようにして神はお造りになったすべてのものをご覽になった．見よ．それは非常によかった．こうして夕があり，朝があった．第六日．

God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

こうして，天と地とそのすべての万象が完成された．

それで神は，第七日目に，なさっていたわざの完成を告げられた．すなわち，第七日目に，なさっていたすべてのわざを休まれた．

神はその第七日目を祝福し，この日を聖であるとされた．それは，その日に，神がなさっていたすべての創造のわざを休まれたからである．

Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their hosts.

By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.

Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

	아담과 하와(2:4-2:25)

これは天と地が創造されたときの經緯である．神である主が地と天を造られたとき，

地には，まだ一本の野の灌木もなく，まだ一本の野の草も芽を出していなかった．それは，神である主が地上に雨を降らせず，土地を耕す人もいなかったからである．

ただ，霧が地から立ち上り，土地の全面を潤していた．

その後，神である主は，土地のちりで人を形造り，その鼻にいのちの息を吹き ¿まれた．そこで，人は，生きものとなった．

神である主は，東の方エデンに園を設け，そこに主の形造った人を置かれた．

This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made earth and heaven.

Now no shrub of the field was yet in the earth, and no plant of the field had yet sprouted, for the LORD God had not sent rain upon the earth, and there was no man to cultivate the ground.

But a mist used to rise from the earth and water the whole surface of the ground.

Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

The LORD God planted a garden toward the east, in Eden; and there He placed the man whom He had formed.

神である主は，その土地から，見るからに好ましく食べるのに良いすべての木を生えさせた．園の中央には，いのちの木，それから善惡の知識の木とを生えさせた．

一つの川が，この園を潤すため，エデンから出ており，そこから分かれて，四つの源となっていた．

第一のものの名はピションで，それはハビラの全土を巡って流れ，そこには金があった．

その地の金は，良質で，また，そこには，ブドラフとしまめのうもある．

第二の川の名はギホンで，クシュの全土を巡って流れる．

Out of the ground the LORD God caused to grow every tree that is pleasing to the sight and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Now a river flowed out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it divided and became four rivers.

The name of the first is Pishon; it flows around the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold.

The gold of that land is good; the bdellium and the onyx stone are there.

The name of the second river is Gihon; it flows around the whole land of Cush.

第三の川の名はヒデケルで，それはアシュルの東を流れる．第四の川，それはユ ― フラテスである．

神である主は，人を取り，エデンの園に置き，そこを耕させ，またそこを守らせた．

神である主は，人に命じて仰せられた．「あなたは，園のどの木からでも思いのまま食べてよい．

しかし，善惡の知識の木からは取って食べてはならない．それを取って食べるその時，あなたは必ず死ぬ．」

その後，神である主は仰せられた．「人が，ひとりでいるのは良くない．わたしは彼のために，彼にふさわしい助け手を造ろう．」

The name of the third river is Tigris; it flows east of Assyria And the fourth river is the Euphrates.

Then the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it.

The LORD God commanded the man, saying, "From any tree of the garden you may eat freely;

but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die."

Then the LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him."

神である主が，土からあらゆる野の ¿と，あらゆる空の鳥を形造られたとき，それにどんな名を彼がつけるかを見るために，人のところに連れて來られた．人が，生き物につける名は，みな，それが，その名となった．

こうして人は，すべての家畜，空の鳥，野のあらゆる ¿に名をつけたが，人にはふさわしい助け手が，見あたらなかった．

そこで神である主が，深い眠りをその人に下されたので彼は眠った．それで，彼のあばら骨の一つを取り，そのところの肉をふさがれた．

こうして神である主は，人から取ったあばら骨を，ひとりの女に造り上げ，その女を人のところに連れて來られた．

すると人は言った．「これこそ，今や，私の骨からの骨，私の肉からの肉．これを女と名づけよう．これは男から取られたのだから．」

Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name.

The man gave names to all the cattle, and to the birds of the sky, and to every beast of the field, but for Adam there was not found a helper suitable for him.

So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place.

The LORD God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man.

The man said, "This is now bone of my bones, And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man."

それゆえ，男はその父母を離れ，妻と結び合い，ふたりは一體となるのである．

そのとき，人とその妻は，ふたりとも裸であったが，互いに恥ずかしいと思わなかった．

For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.

And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.

	궁창(穹蒼, 1:6) ‘두들겨 넓게 펼친 판’이라는 의미로 대기권의 하늘을 가리킴
