	창세기 13:1-15:21 애굽에서 나온 아브람은 조카 롯과의 불화를 피해 그에게 좋은 땅을 선택하여 떠나도록 했다. 하나님께서는 홀로 남은 아브람에게 자손과 땅의 복을 주실 것을 약속하셨다. 소돔에 거주하던 롯이 부족들간의 전쟁 중에 포로로 잡혀가자, 아브람은 군사들을 이끌고 기습하여 롯을 구했다. 하나님께서는 아브람에게 자손 번성의 복을 보증하시고 그 자손들의 앞일을 말씀하셨다.

	롯을 떠나 보냄(13:1-13:18)

それで，アブラムは，エジプトを出て，ネゲブに上った．彼と，妻のサライと，すべての所有物と，ロトもいっしょであった．

アブラムは家畜と銀と金とに非常に富んでいた．

彼はネゲブから旅を續けて，ベテルまで，すなわち，ベテルとアイの間で，以前天幕を張った所まで來た．

そこは彼が最初に築いた祭壇の場所である．その所でアブラムは，主の御名によって祈った．

アブラムといっしょに行ったロトもまた，羊の群れや牛の群れ，天幕を所有していた．

So Abram went up from Egypt to the Negev, he and his wife and all that belonged to him, and Lot with him.

Now Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver and in gold.

He went on his journeys from the Negev as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,

to the place of the altar which he had made there formerly; and there Abram called on the name of the LORD.

Now Lot, who went with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents.

その地は彼らがいっしょに住むのに十分ではなかった．彼らの持ち物が多すぎたので，彼らがいっしょに住むことができなかったのである．

そのうえ，アブラムの家畜の牧者たちとロトの家畜の牧者たちとの間に，爭いが起こった．またそのころ，その地にはカナン人とペリジ人が住んでいた．

And the land could not sustain them while dwelling together, for their possessions were so great that they were not able to remain together.

And there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram's livestock and the herdsmen of Lot's livestock Now the Canaanite and the Perizzite were dwelling then in the land.

So Abram said to Lot, "Please let there be no strife between you and me, nor between my herdsmen and your herdsmen, for we are brothers.

"Is not the whole land before you? Please separate from me; if to the left, then I will go to the right; or if to the right, then I will go to the left."

Lot lifted up his eyes and saw all the valley of the Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere--this was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah--like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt as you go to Zoar.

それで，ロトはそのヨルダンの低地全體を選び取り，その後，東のほうに移動した．こうして彼らは互いに別れた．

So Lot chose for himself all the valley of the Jordan, and Lot journeyed eastward. Thus they separated from each other.

Abram settled in the land of Canaan, while Lot settled in the cities of the valley, and moved his tents as far as Sodom.

Now the men of Sodom were wicked exceedingly and sinners against the LORD.

The LORD said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, "Now lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward;

for all the land which you see, I will give it to you and to your descendants forever.

わたしは，あなたの子孫を地のちりのようにならせる．もし人が地のちりを數えることができれば，あなたの子孫をも數えることができよう．

立って，その地を縱と橫に步き回りなさい．わたしがあなたに，その地を與えるのだから．」

そこで，アブラムは天幕を移して，ヘブロンにあるマムレの ¿の木のそばに來て住んだ．そして，そこに主のための祭壇を築いた．

"I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth, so that if anyone can number the dust of the earth, then your descendants can also be numbered.

"Arise, walk about the land through its length and breadth; for I will give it to you."

Then Abram moved his tent and came and dwelt by the oaks of Mamre, which are in Hebron, and there he built an altar to the LORD.

	롯을 구함(14:1-14:24)

さて，シヌアルの王アムラフェル，エラサルの王アルヨク，エラムの王ケドルラオメル，ゴイムの王ティデアルの時代に，

And it came about in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goiim,

that they made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar).

All these came as allies to the valley of Siddim (that is, the Salt Sea).

Twelve years they had served Chedorlaomer, but the thirteenth year they rebelled.

In the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer and the kings that were with him, came and defeated the Rephaim in Ashteroth-karnaim and the Zuzim in Ham and the Emim in Shaveh-kiriathaim,

セイルの山地でホリ人を打ち破り，砂漠の近くのエル · パランまで進んだ．

and the Horites in their Mount Seir, as far as El-paran, which is by the wilderness.

Then they turned back and came to En-mishpat (that is, Kadesh), and conquered all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, who lived in Hazazon-tamar.

And the king of Sodom and the king of Gomorrah and the king of Admah and the king of Zeboiim and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar) came out; and they arrayed for battle against them in the valley of Siddim,

against Chedorlaomer king of Elam and Tidal king of Goiim and Amraphel king of Shinar and Arioch king of Ellasar--four kings against five.

Now the valley of Siddim was full of tar pits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and they fell into them But those who survived fled to the hill country.

そこで，彼らはソドムとゴモラの全財産と食糧全部を奪って行った．

Then they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah and all their food supply, and departed.

They also took Lot, Abram's nephew, and his possessions and departed, for he was living in Sodom.

Then a fugitive came and told Abram the Hebrew Now he was living by the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and brother of Aner, and these were allies with Abram.

When Abram heard that his relative had been taken captive, he led out his trained men, born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.

He divided his forces against them by night, he and his servants, and defeated them, and pursued them as far as Hobah, which is north of Damascus.

そして，彼はすべての財産を取り戾し，また親類の者ロトとその財産，それにまた，女たちや人¿をも取り戾した．

彼はアブラムを祝福して言った．「祝福を受けよ．アブラム．天と地を造られた方，いと高き神より．

あなたの手に，あなたの敵を渡されたいと高き神に，譽れあれ．」アブラムはすべての物の十分の一を彼に與えた．

He brought back all the goods, and also brought back his relative Lot with his possessions, and also the women, and the people.

Then after his return from the defeat of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the valley of Shaveh (that is, the King's Valley).

And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; now he was a priest of God Most High.

He blessed him and said, "Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth;

And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand." He gave him a tenth of all.

ソドムの王はアブラムに言った．「人¿は私に返し，財産はあなたが取ってください．」

しかし，アブラムはソドムの王に言った．「私は天と地を造られた方，いと高き神，主に誓う．

絲一本でも，くつひも一本でも，あなたの所有物から私は何一つ取らない．それは，あなたが，『アブラムを富ませたのは私だ．』と言わないためだ．

The king of Sodom said to Abram, "Give the people to me and take the goods for yourself."

Abram said to the king of Sodom, "I have sworn to the LORD God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth,

that I will not take a thread or a sandal thong or anything that is yours, for fear you would say, 'I have made Abram rich.'

"I will take nothing except what the young men have eaten, and the share of the men who went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their share."

	아브람과 맺은 언약(15:1-15:21)

これらの出來事の後，主のことばが幻のうちにアブラムに臨み，こう仰せられた．「アブラムよ．恐れるな．わたしはあなたの盾である．あなたの受ける報いは非常に大きい．」

そこでアブラムは申し上げた．「神，主よ．私に何をお與えになるのですか．私にはまだ子がありません．私の家の相續人は，あのダマスコのエリエゼルになるのでしょうか．」

さらに，アブラムは，「ご覽ください．あなたが子孫を私に下さらないので，私の家の奴隷が，私の跡取りになるでしょう．」と申し上げた．

すると，主のことばが彼に臨み，こう仰せられた．「その者があなたの跡を繼いではならない．ただ，あなた自身から生まれ出て來る者が，あなたの跡を繼がなければならない．」

そして，彼を外に連れ出して仰せられた．「さあ，天を見上げなさい．星を數えることができるなら，それを數えなさい．」さらに仰せられた．「あなたの子孫はこのようになる．」

After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, "Do not fear, Abram, I am a shield to you; Your reward shall be very great."

Abram said, "O Lord GOD, what will You give me, since I am childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?"

And Abram said, "Since You have given no offspring to me, one born in my house is my heir."

Then behold, the word of the LORD came to him, saying, "This man will not be your heir; but one who will come forth from your own body, he shall be your heir."

And He took him outside and said, "Now look toward the heavens, and count the stars, if you are able to count them " And He said to him, "So shall your descendants be."

彼は主を信じた．主はそれを彼の義と認められた．

また彼に仰せられた．「わたしは，この地をあなたの所有としてあなたに與えるために，カルデヤ人のウルからあなたを連れ出した主である．」

彼は申し上げた．「神，主よ．それが私の所有であることを，どのようにして知ることができましょうか．」

すると彼に仰せられた．「わたしのところに，三歲の雌牛と，三歲の雌やぎと，三歲の雄羊と，山鳩とそのひなを持って來なさい．」

彼はそれら全部を持って來て，それらを眞二つに切り裂き，その半分を互いに向かい合わせにした．しかし，鳥は切り裂かなかった．

Then he believed in the LORD; and He reckoned it to him as righteousness.

And He said to him, "I am the LORD who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give you this land to possess it."

He said, "O Lord GOD, how may I know that I will possess it?"

So He said to him, "Bring Me a three year old heifer, and a three year old female goat, and a three year old ram, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon."

Then he brought all these to Him and cut them in two, and laid each half opposite the other; but he did not cut the birds.

猛禽がその死體の上に降りて來たので，アブラムはそれらを追い拂った．

日が沈みかかったころ，深い眠りがアブラムを襲った．そして見よ．ひどい暗黑の恐怖が彼を襲った．

そこで，アブラムに仰せがあった．「あなたはこの事をよく知っていなさい．あなたの子孫は，自分たちのものでない國で寄留者となり，彼らは奴隷とされ，四百年の間，苦しめられよう．

しかし，彼らの仕えるその國民を，わたしがさばき，その後，彼らは多くの財産を持って，そこから出て來るようになる．

The birds of prey came down upon the carcasses, and Abram drove them away.

Now when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, terror and great darkness fell upon him.

God said to Abram, "Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, where they will be enslaved and oppressed four hundred years.

"But I will also judge the nation whom they will serve, and afterward they will come out with many possessions.

"As for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you will be buried at a good old age.

そして，四代目の者たちが，ここに戾って來る．それはエモリ人の咎が，そのときまでに滿ちることはないからである．」

On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, "To your descendants I have given this land, From the river of Egypt as far as the great river, the river Euphrates:

the Kenite and the Kenizzite and the Kadmonite

and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Rephaim

エモリ人，カナン人，ギルガシ人，エブス人を．」

and the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Girgashite and the Jebusite."
