- そのころ， 全世界の 住民登錄をせよという 勅令が， 皇帝 アウグスト から 出た．
- これは， クレニオ が シリヤ の 總督であったときの 最初の 住民登錄であった．
- それで， 人¿はみな， 登錄のために， それぞれ 自分の 町に 向かって 行った．
- ヨセフ も ガリラヤ の 町 ナザレ から， ユダヤ の ベツレヘム という ダビデ の 町へ 上って 行った． 彼は， ダビデ の 家系であり 血筋でもあったので，
- 身重になっているいいなずけの 妻 マリヤ もいっしょに 登錄するためであった．

- Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth.
- This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria.
- And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city.
- Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David,
- in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child.

- ところが， 彼らがそこにいる 間に， マリヤ は 月が 滿ちて，
- 男子の 初子を 産んだ． それで， 布にくるんで， 飼葉おけに 寢かせた． 宿屋には 彼らのいる 場所がなかったからである．
- さて， この 土地に， 羊飼いたちが， 野宿で 夜番をしながら 羊の 群れを 見守っていた．
- すると， 主の 使いが 彼らのところに 來て， 主の 榮光が 回りを 照らしたので， 彼らはひどく 恐れた．
- 御使いは 彼らに 言った． 「恐れることはありません． 今， 私はこの 民全體のためのすばらしい 喜びを 知らせに 來たのです．

- While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth.
- And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
- In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night.
- And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened.
- But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people;

- きょう ダビデ の 町で， あなたがたのために， 救い 主がお 生まれになりました． この 方こそ 主 キリスト です．
- あなたがは， 布にくるまって 飼葉おけに 寢ておられるみどりごを 見つけます． これが， あなたがたのためのしるしです． 」
- すると， たちまち， その 御使いといっしょに， 多くの 天の 軍勢が 現われて， 神を 贊美して 言った．
- 「いと 高き 所に， 榮光が， 神にあるように． 地の 上に， 平和が， 御心にかなう 人¿にあるように． 」
- 御使いたちが 彼らを 離れて 天に 歸ったとき， 羊飼いたちは 互いに 話し 合った． 「さあ， ベツレヘム に 行って， 主が 私たちに 知らせてくださったこの 出來事を 見て 來よう． 」

- for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
- "This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."
- And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
- "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased."
- When the angels had gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds began saying to one another, "Let us go straight to Bethlehem then, and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us."

- そして 急いで 行って， マリヤ と ヨセフ と， 飼葉おけに 寢ておられるみどりごとを 搜し 當てた．
- それを 見たとき， 羊飼いたちは， この 幼子について 告げられたことを 知らせた．
- それを 聞いた 人たちはみな， 羊飼いの 話したことに 驚いた．
- しかし マリヤ は， これらのことをすべて 心に 納めて， 思いを 巡らしていた．
- 羊飼いたちは， 見聞きしたことが， 全部御使いの 話のとおりだったので， 神をあがめ， 贊美しながら 歸って 行った．

- So they came in a hurry and found their way to Mary and Joseph, and the baby as He lay in the manger.
- When they had seen this, they made known the statement which had been told them about this Child.
- And all who heard it wondered at the things which were told them by the shepherds.
- But Mary treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart.
- The shepherds went back, glorifying and praising God for all that they had heard and seen, just as had been told them.

- 八日が 滿ちて 幼子に 割禮を 施す 日となり， 幼子は イエス という 名で 呼ばれることになった． 胎內に 宿る 前に 御使いがつけた 名である．
- さて， モ ― セ の 律法による 彼らのきよめの 期間が 滿ちたとき， 兩親は 幼子を 主にささげるために， エルサレム へ 連れて 行った．
- ··それは， 主の 律法に「母の 胎を 開く 男子の 初子は， すべて， 主に 聖別された 者， と 呼ばれなければならない． 」と 書いてあるとおりであった． ··
- また， 主の 律法に「山ばと 一つがい， または， 家ばとのひな 二羽． 」と 定められたところに 從って ¿牲をささげるためであった．
- そのとき， エルサレム に シメオン という 人がいた． この 人は 正しい， 敬 ·な 人で， イスラエル の 慰められることを 待ち 望んでいた． 聖靈が 彼の 上にとどまっておられた．

- And when eight days had passed, before His circumcision, His name was then called Jesus, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb.
- And when the days for their purification according to the law of Moses were completed, they brought Him up to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord
- (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, "EVERY firstborn MALE THAT OPENS THE WOMB SHALL BE CALLED HOLY TO THE LORD"),
- and to offer a sacrifice according to what was said in the Law of the Lord, "A PAIR OF TURTLEDOVES OR TWO YOUNG PIGEONS."
- And there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him.

- また， 主の キリスト を 見るまでは， 決して 死なないと， 聖靈のお 告げを 受けていた．
- 彼が 御靈に 感じて 宮にはいると， 幼子 イエス を 連れた 兩親が， その 子のために 律法の 慣習を 守るために， はいって 來た．
- すると， シメオン は 幼子を 腕に 抱き， 神をほめたたえて 言った．
- 「主よ． 今こそあなたは， あなたのしもべを， みことばどおり， 安らかに 去らせてくださいます．
- 私の 目があなたの 御救いを 見たからです．

- And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
- And he came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to carry out for Him the custom of the Law,
- then he took Him into his arms, and blessed God, and said,
- "Now Lord, You are releasing Your bond-servant to depart in peace, According to Your word;
- For my eyes have seen Your salvation,

- 御救いはあなたが 万民の 前に 備えられたもので，
- 異邦人を 照らす 啓示の 光， 御民 イスラエル の 光榮です． 」
- 父と 母は， 幼子についていろいろ 語られる 事に 驚いた．
- また， シメオン は 兩親を 祝福し， 母 マリヤ に 言った． 「ご 覽なさい． この 子は， イスラエル の 多くの 人が 倒れ， また， 立ち 上がるために 定められ， また， 反對を 受けるしるしとして 定められています．
- 劍があなたの 心さえも 刺し 貫くでしょう． それは 多くの 人の 心の 思いが 現われるためです． 」

- Which You have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
- A LIGHT OF REVELATION TO THE GENTILES, And the glory of Your people Israel."
- And His father and mother were amazed at the things which were being said about Him.
- And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary His mother, "Behold, this Child is appointed for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and for a sign to be opposed--
- and a sword will pierce even your own soul--to the end that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed."
