	열왕기상 20:22-21:29 1차 침공에 실패한 벤하닷은 2차 침공을 감행했고, 이스라엘은 전력의 열세에도 불구하고 하나님의 도우심으로 다시 대승을 거두었다. 그러나 아합은 하나님의 뜻을 벗어나 임의대로 벤하닷을 살려 줌으로써 하나님의 선지자로부터 심판을 예고받았다. 탐욕에 사로잡힌 아합이 나봇을 살해하고 그의 포도원을 빼앗자, 엘리야는 그에게 하나님의 심판을 선포하였다.

	벤하닷을 살려 준 아합(20:22-20:43)

その後，あの預言者がイスラエルの王に近寄って來て言った．「さあ，奮い立って，これからなすべきことをわきまえ知りなさい．來年の今ごろ，アラムの王があなたを攻めに上って來るから．」

そのころ，アラムの王の家來たちは王に言った．「彼らの神¿は山の神です．だから，彼らは私たちより强いのです．しかしながら，私たちが平地で彼らと戰うなら，私たちのほうがきっと彼らより强いでしょう．

こういうようにしてください．王たちをそれぞれ，その地位から退かせ，彼らの代わりに總督を任命し，

あなたは失っただけの軍勢と馬と戰車とをそれだけ補充してください．彼らと平地で戰うなら，きっと私たちのほうが彼らより强いでしょう．」彼は彼らの言うことを聞き入れて，そのようにした．

翌年，ベン · ハダデはアラムを召集し，イスラエルと戰うために，アフェクに上って來た．

Then the prophet came near to the king of Israel and said to him, "Go, strengthen yourself and observe and see what you have to do; for at the turn of the year the king of Aram will come up against you."

Now the servants of the king of Aram said to him, "Their gods are gods of the mountains, therefore they were stronger than we; but rather let us fight against them in the plain, and surely we will be stronger than they.

"Do this thing: remove the kings, each from his place, and put captains in their place,

and muster an army like the army that you have lost, horse for horse, and chariot for chariot. Then we will fight against them in the plain, and surely we will be stronger than they." And he listened to their voice and did so.

At the turn of the year, Ben-hadad mustered the Arameans and went up to Aphek to fight against Israel.

一方イスラエル人も召集され，糧食を受けて出て行き，彼らを迎えた．イスラエル人は彼らと向かい合って陣を敷いた．彼らは二つの群れのやぎのようであったが，アラムはその地に滿ちていた．

ときに，ひとりの神の人が近づいて來て，イスラエルの王に言った．「主はこう仰せられる．『アラムが，主は山の神であって，低地の神でない，と言っているので，わたしはこのおびただしい大軍を全部あなたの手に渡す．それによって，あなたがたは，わたしこそ主であることを知るであろう．』」

兩軍は互いに向かい合って，七日間，陣を敷いていた．七日目になって，戰いを交えたが，イスラエル人は一日のうちにアラムの步兵十万人を打ち殺した．

生き殘った者たちはアフェクの町に逃げたが，その二万七千人の殘った者の上に城壁がくずれ落ちた．ベン · ハダデは逃げて町にはいり，奧の間にはいった．

家來たちは彼に言った．「イスラエルの家の王たちはあわれみ深い王である，と聞いています．それで，私たちの腰に荒布をまとい，首になわをかけ，イスラエルの王のもとに出て行かせてください．そうすれば，あなたのいのちを助けてくれるかもしれません．」

The sons of Israel were mustered and were provisioned and went to meet them; and the sons of Israel camped before them like two little flocks of goats, but the Arameans filled the country.

Then a man of God came near and spoke to the king of Israel and said, "Thus says the LORD, 'Because the Arameans have said, "The LORD is a god of the mountains, but He is not a god of the valleys," therefore I will give all this great multitude into your hand, and you shall know that I am the LORD.'"

So they camped one over against the other seven days. And on the seventh day the battle was joined, and the sons of Israel killed of the Arameans 100,000 foot soldiers in one day.

But the rest fled to Aphek into the city, and the wall fell on 27,000 men who were left And Ben-hadad fled and came into the city into an inner chamber.

His servants said to him, "Behold now, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel are merciful kings, please let us put sackcloth on our loins and ropes on our heads, and go out to the king of Israel; perhaps he will save your life."

こうして彼らは腰に荒布を卷き，首になわをかけ，イスラエルの王のもとに行って願った．「あなたのしもべ，ベン · ハダデが，『どうか私のいのちを助けてください．』と申しています．」するとアハブは言った．「彼はまだ生きているのか．彼は私の兄弟だ．」

So they girded sackcloth on their loins and put ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel and said, "Your servant Ben-hadad says, 'Please let me live.'" And he said, "Is he still alive? He is my brother."

Now the men took this as an omen, and quickly catching his word said, "Your brother Ben-hadad." Then he said, "Go, bring him." Then Ben-hadad came out to him, and he took him up into the chariot.

Ben-hadad said to him, "The cities which my father took from your father I will restore, and you shall make streets for yourself in Damascus, as my father made in Samaria." Ahab said, "And I will let you go with this covenant." So he made a covenant with him and let him go.

Now a certain man of the sons of the prophets said to another by the word of the LORD, "Please strike me." But the man refused to strike him.

Then he said to him, "Because you have not listened to the voice of the LORD, behold, as soon as you have departed from me, a lion will kill you." And as soon as he had departed from him a lion found him and killed him.

ついで，彼はもうひとりの人に會ったので，「私を打ってくれ．」と賴んだ．すると，その人は彼を打って傷を負わせた．

それから，その預言者は行って道ばたで王を待っていた．彼は目の上にほうたいをして，だれかわからないようにしていた．

王が通りかかったとき，彼は王に叫んで言った．「しもべが戰場に出て行くと，ちょうどそこに，ある人がひとりの者を連れてやって來て，こう言いました．『この者を見張れ．もし，この者を逃がしでもしたら，この者のいのちの代わりにあなたのいのちを取るか，または，銀一タラントを拂わせるぞ．』

ところが，しもべが何やかやしているうちに，その者はいなくなってしまいました．」すると，イスラエルの王が彼に言った．「あなたはそのとおりにさばかれる．あなた自身が決めたとおりに．」

彼は急いで，ほうたいを目から取り除いた．そのとき，イスラエルの王は，彼が預言者のひとりであることを見た．

Then he found another man and said, "Please strike me." And the man struck him, wounding him.

So the prophet departed and waited for the king by the way, and disguised himself with a bandage over his eyes.

As the king passed by, he cried to the king and said, "Your servant went out into the midst of the battle; and behold, a man turned aside and brought a man to me and said, 'Guard this man; if for any reason he is missing, then your life shall be for his life, or else you shall pay a talent of silver.'

"While your servant was busy here and there, he was gone." And the king of Israel said to him, "So shall your judgment be; you yourself have decided it."

Then he hastily took the bandage away from his eyes, and the king of Israel recognized him that he was of the prophets.

彼は王に言った．「主はこう仰せられる．『わたしが聖絶しようとした者をあなたが逃がしたから，あなたのいのちは彼のいのちの代わりとなり，あなたの民は彼の民の代わりとなる．』」

イスラエルの王は不きげんになり，激しく怒って，自分の家に戾って行き，サマリヤに着いた．

He said to him, "Thus says the LORD, 'Because you have let go out of your hand the man whom I had devoted to destruction, therefore your life shall go for his life, and your people for his people.'"

So the king of Israel went to his house sullen and vexed, and came to Samaria.

	나봇의 포도원(21:1-21:29)

このことがあって後のこと．イズレエル人ナボテはイズレエルにぶどう畑を持っていた．それはサマリヤの王アハブの宮殿のそばにあった．

アハブはナボテに次のように言って賴んだ．「あなたのぶどう畑を私に讓ってもらいたい．あれは私の家のすぐ隣にあるので，私の野菜畑にしたいのだが．その代わりに，あれよりもっと良いぶどう畑をあげよう．もしあなたがそれでよいと思うなら，それ相當の代價を銀で支拂おう．」

ナボテはアハブに言った．「主によって，私には，ありえないことです．私の先祖のゆずりの地をあなたに與えるとは．」

アハブは不きげんになり，激しく怒りながら，自分の家にはいった．イズレエル人ナボテが彼に，「私の先祖のゆずりの地をあなたに讓れません．」と言ったからである．彼は寢台に橫になり，顔をそむけて食事もしようとはしなかった．

彼の妻イゼベルは彼のもとにはいって來て言った．「あなたはどうしてそんなに不きげんで，食事もなさらないのですか．」

Now it came about after these things that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard which was in Jezreel beside the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.

Ahab spoke to Naboth, saying, "Give me your vineyard, that I may have it for a vegetable garden because it is close beside my house, and I will give you a better vineyard than it in its place; if you like, I will give you the price of it in money."

But Naboth said to Ahab, "The LORD forbid me that I should give you the inheritance of my fathers."

So Ahab came into his house sullen and vexed because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him; for he said, "I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers." And he lay down on his bed and turned away his face and ate no food.

But Jezebel his wife came to him and said to him, "How is it that your spirit is so sullen that you are not eating food?"

そこで，アハブは彼女に言った．「私がイズレエル人ナボテに『金を拂うからあなたのぶどう畑を讓ってほしい．それとも，あなたが望むなら，その代わりのぶどう畑をやってもよい．』と言ったのに，彼は『私のぶどう畑はあなたに讓れません．』と答えたからだ．」

手紙にはこう書いていた．「斷食を布告し，ナボテを民の前に引き出してすわらせ，

彼の前にふたりのよこしまな者をすわらせ，彼らに『おまえは神と王をのろった．』と言って證言させなさい．そして，彼を外に引き出し，石打ちにして殺しなさい．」

So he said to her, "Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite and said to him, 'Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you a vineyard in its place.' But he said, 'I will not give you my vineyard.'"

Jezebel his wife said to him, "Do you now reign over Israel? Arise, eat bread, and let your heart be joyful; I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite."

So she wrote letters in Ahab's name and sealed them with his seal, and sent letters to the elders and to the nobles who were living with Naboth in his city.

Now she wrote in the letters, saying, "Proclaim a fast and seat Naboth at the head of the people;

and seat two worthless men before him, and let them testify against him, saying, 'You cursed God and the king ' Then take him out and stone him to death."

そこで，その町の人¿，つまり，その町に住んでいる長老たちとおもだった人¿は，イゼベルが彼らに言いつけたとおり，彼女が手紙に書き送ったとおりを行なった．

彼らは斷食を布告し，ナボテを民の前に引き出してすわらせた．

そこに，ふたりのよこしまな者がはいって來て，彼の前にすわった．よこしまな者たちは民の前で，ナボテが神と王をのろった，と言って證言した．そこで人¿は彼を町の外に引き出し，石打ちにして殺した．

こうして，彼らはイゼベルに，「ナボテは石打ちにされて殺された．」と言ってよこした．

イゼベルはナボテが石打ちにされて殺されたことを聞くとすぐ，アハブに言った．「起きて，イズレエル人ナボテが，あなたに賣ることを拒んだあのぶどう畑を取り上げなさい．もうナボテは生きていません．死んだのです．」

So the men of his city, the elders and the nobles who lived in his city, did as Jezebel had sent word to them, just as it was written in the letters which she had sent them.

They proclaimed a fast and seated Naboth at the head of the people.

Then the two worthless men came in and sat before him; and the worthless men testified against him, even against Naboth, before the people, saying, "Naboth cursed God and the king." So they took him outside the city and stoned him to death with stones.

Then they sent word to Jezebel, saying, "Naboth has been stoned and is dead."

When Jezebel heard that Naboth had been stoned and was dead, Jezebel said to Ahab, "Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth, the Jezreelite, which he refused to give you for money; for Naboth is not alive, but dead."

アハブはナボテが死んだと聞いてすぐ，立って，イズレエル人ナボテのぶどう畑を取り上げようと下って行った．

そのとき，ティシュベ人エリヤに次のような主のことばがあった．

「さあ，サマリヤにいるイスラエルの王アハブに會いに下って行け．今，彼はナボテのぶどう畑を取り上げようと，そこに下って來ている．

彼にこう言え．『主はこう仰せられる．あなたはよくも人殺しをして，取り上げたものだ．』また，彼に言え．『主はこう仰せられる．犬どもがナボテの血をなめたその場所で，その犬どもがまた，あなたの血をなめる．』」

アハブがエリヤに，「あなたはまた，私を見つけたのか．わが敵よ．」と言うと，エリヤは答えた．「あなたが裏切って主の目の前に惡を行なったので，私は見つけたのだ．

When Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, Ahab arose to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.

Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

"Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, who is in Samaria; behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth where he has gone down to take possession of it.

"You shall speak to him, saying, 'Thus says the LORD, "Have you murdered and also taken possession?"' And you shall speak to him, saying, 'Thus says the LORD, "In the place where the dogs licked up the blood of Naboth the dogs will lick up your blood, even yours."'"

Ahab said to Elijah, "Have you found me, O my enemy?" And he answered, "I have found you, because you have sold yourself to do evil in the sight of the LORD.

今，わたしはあなたにわざわいをもたらす．わたしはあなたの子孫を除き去り，アハブに屬する小わっぱも奴隷も，自由の者も，イスラエルで絶ち滅ぼし，

あなたの家をネバテの子ヤロブアムの家のようにし，アヒヤの子バシャの家のようにする．それは，あなたがわたしの怒りを引き起こしたその怒りのため，イスラエルに罪を犯させたためだ．

また，イゼベルについても主はこう仰せられる．『犬がイズレエルの領地でイゼベルを食らう．』

アハブに屬する者で，町で死ぬ者は犬どもがこれを食らい，野で死ぬ者は空の鳥がこれを食らう．」

アハブのように，裏切って主の目の前に惡を行なった者はだれもいなかった．彼の妻イゼベルが彼をそそのかしたからである．

"Behold, I will bring evil upon you, and will utterly sweep you away, and will cut off from Ahab every male, both bond and free in Israel;

and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, because of the provocation with which you have provoked Me to anger, and because you have made Israel sin.

"Of Jezebel also has the LORD spoken, saying, 'The dogs will eat Jezebel in the district of Jezreel.'

"The one belonging to Ahab, who dies in the city, the dogs will eat, and the one who dies in the field the birds of heaven will eat."

Surely there was no one like Ahab who sold himself to do evil in the sight of the LORD, because Jezebel his wife incited him.

彼は偶像につき從い，主がイスラエル人の前から追い拂われたエモリ人がしたとおりのことをして，忌みきらうべきことを大いに行なった．

アハブは，これらのことばを聞くとすぐ，自分の外套を裂き，身に荒布をまとい，斷食をし，荒布を着て伏し，また，打ちしおれて步いた．

そのとき，ティシュベ人エリヤに次のような主のことばがあった．

「あなたはアハブがわたしの前にへりくだっているのを見たか．彼がわたしの前にへりくだっているので，彼の生きている間は，わざわいを下さない．しかし，彼の子の時代に，彼の家にわざわいを下す．」

He acted very abominably in following idols, according to all that the Amorites had done, whom the LORD cast out before the sons of Israel.

It came about when Ahab heard these words, that he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and fasted, and he lay in sackcloth and went about despondently.

Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

"Do you see how Ahab has humbled himself before Me? Because he has humbled himself before Me, I will not bring the evil in his days, but I will bring the evil upon his house in his son's days."
