- As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man called Matthew, sitting in the tax collector's booth; and He said to him, "Follow Me!" And he got up and followed Him.
- Then it happened that as Jesus was reclining at the table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were dining with Jesus and His disciples.
- When the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, "Why is your Teacher eating with the tax collectors and sinners?"
- But when Jesus heard this, He said, "It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick.
- "But go and learn what this means: 'I DESIRE COMPASSION, AND NOT SACRIFICE,' for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

- 예수께서 그 곳을 떠나 길을 가시다가 마태오라는 사람이 세관에 앉아 있는 것을 보시고 "나를 따라오너라." 하고 부르셨다. 그러자 그는 일어나서 예수를 따라 나섰다.
- 예수께서 마태오의 집에서 음식을 잡수실 때에 세리와 죄인들도 많이 와서 예수와 그 제자들과 함께 음식을 먹게 되었다.
- 이것을 본 바리사이파 사람들은 예수의 제자들에게 "어찌하여 당신네 선생은 세리와 죄인들과 어울려 음식을 나누는 것이오?" 하고 물었다.
- 예수께서 이 말을 들으시고 "성한 사람에게는 의사가 필요하지 않으나 병자에게는 필요하다.
- 너희는 가서 '내가 바라는 것은 동물을 잡아 나에게 바치는 제사가 아니라 이웃에게 베푸는 자선이다.' 하신 말씀이 무슨 뜻인가를 배워라. 나는 선한 사람을 부르러 온 것이 아니라 죄인을 부르러 왔다." 하고 말씀하셨다.

- Then the disciples of John came to Him, asking, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast, but Your disciples do not fast?"
- And Jesus said to them, "The attendants of the bridegroom cannot mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them, can they? But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.
- "But no one puts a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch pulls away from the garment, and a worse tear results.
- "Nor do people put new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the wineskins burst, and the wine pours out and the wineskins are ruined; but they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved."
- While He was saying these things to them, a synagogue official came and bowed down before Him, and said, "My daughter has just died; but come and lay Your hand on her, and she will live."

- 그 때에 요한의 제자들이 예수께 와서 "우리와 바리사이파 사람들은 자주 단식하는데 선생님의 제자들은 왜 단식하지 않습니까?" 하고 묻자
- 예수께서 이렇게 대답하셨다. "잔치에 온 신랑의 친구들이 신랑과 함께 있는 동안에야 어떻게 슬퍼할 수 있겠느냐? 그러나 곧 신랑을 빼앗길 날이 올 터인데 그 때에 가서는 그들도 단식할 것이다.
- 낡은 옷에다 새 천조각을 대고 깁는 사람은 없다. 그렇게 하면 낡은 옷이 새 천조각에 켕기어 더 찢어지게 된다.
- 또 낡은 가죽 부대에 새 포도주를 담는 사람도 없다. 그렇게 하면 부대가 터져서 포도주는 쏟아지고 부대도 버리게 된다. 새 포도주는 새 부대에 담아야 둘 다 보존된다."
- 예수께서 이 말씀을 하고 계실 때에 한 회당장이 와서 예수께 절하며 "제 딸이 방금 죽었습니다. 그렇지만 저의 집에 오셔서 그 아이에게 손을 얹어주시면 살아날 것입니다." 하고 간청하였다.

- Jesus got up and began to follow him, and so did His disciples.
- And a woman who had been suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years, came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloak;
- for she was saying to herself, "If I only touch His garment, I will get well."
- But Jesus turning and seeing her said, "Daughter, take courage; your faith has made you well." At once the woman was made well.
- When Jesus came into the official's house, and saw the flute-players and the crowd in noisy disorder,

- 예수께서 제자들과 함께 일어나 그를 따라가셨다.
- 마침 그 때에 열두 해 동안이나 하혈병을 앓던 어떤 여자가 뒤로 와서 예수의 옷자락에 손을 대었다.
- 예수의 옷에 손을 대기만 해도 나으리라고 생각하였던 것이다.
- 예수께서 돌아서서 그 여자를 보시고 "안심하여라, 네 믿음이 너를 낫게 하였다." 하고 말씀하시자 그 여자는 대뜸 병이 나았다.
- 예수께서 회당장의 집에 이르러 피리 부는 사람들과 곡하며 떠드는 무리를 보시고

- He said, "Leave; for the girl has not died, but is asleep." And they began laughing at Him.
- But when the crowd had been sent out, He entered and took her by the hand, and the girl got up.
- This news spread throughout all that land.

- "다들 물러가라. 그 아이는 죽은 것이 아니라 잠들어 있다." 하고 말씀하셨다. 그러나 사람들은 모두 코웃음만 쳤다.
- 그 사람들이 다 밖으로 나간 뒤에 예수께서 방에 들어가 소녀의 손을 잡으시자 그 아이는 곧 일어났다.
- 이 소문이 그 지방에 두루 퍼졌다.
