창세기 47:1-48:22

 야곱은 애굽의 고센 지역을 기업으로 받아 정착하였고, 요셉은 7년 흉년을 지혜롭게 대처하여 애굽의 모든 토지를 바로에게 돌렸다. 야곱은 요셉의 두 아들을 자신의 아들로 삼고 그들에게 축복하되 둘째 아들인 에브라임을 장자 므낫세보다 높여 주었다.
  
  요셉의 기근 정책(47:1-47:31)    
 
  1. Then Joseph went in and told Pharaoh, and said, "My father and my brothers and their flocks and their herds and all that they have, have come out of the land of Canaan; and behold, they are in the land of Goshen."
  2. He took five men from among his brothers and presented them to Pharaoh.
  3. Then Pharaoh said to his brothers, "What is your occupation?" So they said to Pharaoh, "Your servants are shepherds, both we and our fathers."
  4. They said to Pharaoh, "We have come to sojourn in the land, for there is no pasture for your servants' flocks, for the famine is severe in the land of Canaan Now, therefore, please let your servants live in the land of Goshen."
  5. Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Your father and your brothers have come to you.
  1. 요셉이 파라오에게 들어가 말하였다. "제 아버지와 형제들이 소와 양을 몰고 모든 재산을 챙겨가지고 가나안 땅에서 와 지금 고센에 있습니다."
  2. 그러면서 자기 형들 가운데서 뽑은 다섯 사람을 파라오에게 소개하자
  3. 파라오가 그들에게 물었다. "너희들의 생업은 무엇이냐?" 그들이 대답하였다. "소인들은 양을 치는 목자입니다. 저희 선조들도 마찬가지입니다."
  4. 그들은 계속하여 파라오에게 청을 드렸다. "저희들은 이 땅에 좀 머물 수 있을까 해서 왔습니다. 가나안 땅에 기근이 심하게 들어 소떼가 풀을 뜯을 초장이 없어졌습니다. 청컨대 소인들을 고센 땅에 머물 수 있게 해주십시오."
  5. 이 말을 듣고 파라오는 요셉에게 말하였다. "경의 아버지와 형제들이 경을 찾아온 것이 아니오?
  1. "The land of Egypt is at your disposal; settle your father and your brothers in the best of the land, let them live in the land of Goshen; and if you know any capable men among them, then put them in charge of my livestock."
  2. Then Joseph brought his father Jacob and presented him to Pharaoh; and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.
  3. Pharaoh said to Jacob, "How many years have you lived?"
  4. So Jacob said to Pharaoh, "The years of my sojourning are one hundred and thirty; few and unpleasant have been the years of my life, nor have they attained the years that my fathers lived during the days of their sojourning."
  5. And Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from his presence.
  1. 이집트 땅은 경이 마음대로 할 수 있으니 경의 아버지와 형제들을 가장 좋은 땅에 머물게 하시오. 고센 땅에 살게 하면 어떻겠소? 그리고 그들 가운데 유능한 사람이 있거든 경이 잘 알아서 내 가축을 돌보는 책임자로 세우시오."
  2. 요셉은 아버지 야곱을 파라오 앞에 인도하여 만나게 하였다. 야곱이 파라오에게 만수무강을 빌자
  3. 파라오가 야곱에게 물었다. "얼마나 수를 누리셨소?"
  4. "이 세상을 떠돌기 벌써 백삼십 년이 됩니다. 얼마 되지는 않으나, 살아온 나날이 궂은 일뿐이었습니다. 소인의 조상들이 떠돌아다니시며 누리신 수에 미치려면 아직 멀었습니다."
  5. 이렇게 야곱은 파라오에게 대답하고는 다시 만수무강을 빌고 그 앞에서 물러났다.
  1. So Joseph settled his father and his brothers and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had ordered.
  2. Joseph provided his father and his brothers and all his father's household with food, according to their little ones.
  3. Now there was no food in all the land, because the famine was very severe, so that the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan languished because of the famine.
  4. Joseph gathered all the money that was found in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan for the grain which they bought, and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house.
  5. When the money was all spent in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph and said, "Give us food, for why should we die in your presence? For our money is gone."
  1. 요셉은 아버지와 형제들에게 살 자리를 잡아주고, 파라오의 분부대로 이집트 땅에서 가장 좋은 곳인 라므세스 지방을 그들의 소유지로 떼어주었다.
  2. 그리고 아버지와 형제와 온 가문에 속한 식구의 수대로 양식을 대어주었다.
  3. 기근은 점점 심해져서 온 세상에 양식이 떨어지지 않은 곳이 없게 되었다. 이집트 땅뿐 아니라 가나안 땅에 사는 모든 사람들도 이 기근으로 더 버틸 수 없게 되었다.
  4. 그리하여 모두들 요셉에게서 양식을 사 가다 보니 이집트 땅과 가나안 땅에 있는 돈이란 돈은 모두 요셉의 손에 들어오게 되었다. 요셉은 그 돈을 파라오의 황실에 넘겼다.
  5. 이렇게 이집트 땅과 가나안 땅에서 돈이 떨어지게 되자 온 이집트 사람들이 요셉에게로 와서 청하는 것이었다. "양식을 대어주셔야 하겠습니다. 돈이 떨어졌다고 해서 어른께서 계시는데 우리가 죽을 수야 있겠습니까?"
  1. Then Joseph said, "Give up your livestock, and I will give you food for your livestock, since your money is gone."
  2. So they brought their livestock to Joseph, and Joseph gave them food in exchange for the horses and the flocks and the herds and the donkeys; and he fed them with food in exchange for all their livestock that year.
  3. When that year was ended, they came to him the next year and said to him, "We will not hide from my lord that our money is all spent, and the cattle are my lord's. There is nothing left for my lord except our bodies and our lands.
  4. "Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for food, and we and our land will be slaves to Pharaoh. So give us seed, that we may live and not die, and that the land may not be desolate."
  5. So Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh, for every Egyptian sold his field, because the famine was severe upon them. Thus the land became Pharaoh's.
  1. "돈이 떨어졌거든 가축이라도 가져오너라. 그러면 그 가축을 받고 양식을 내어주겠다." 하고 요셉은 대답하였다.
  2. 그리하여 그들은 가축을 요셉에게로 가져왔다. 요셉은 말과 소와 양과 나귀를 받고 양식을 내어주었다. 이렇게 그 해에는 그들이 가져오는 온갖 가축을 받고 양식을 대어주었다.
  3. 그 해가 다 지나 이듬해가 되자 그들은 요셉에게 와서 다시 청하였다. "돈은 다 떨어졌고 가축도 모두 어른께 갖다 바쳤는데 이제 와서 무엇을 숨기겠습니까? 어른께서 보시는 대로 남은 것이라고는 우리 몸뚱이와 땅밖에 없습니다.
  4. 그런데 우리나 우리들의 땅이 어른께서 보시는 앞에서 망할 수야 있겠습니까? 그러니 우리들의 몸과 땅을 받으시고 양식을 주십시오. 우리들은 땅째 파라오의 종이 되겠습니다. 씨앗을 주십시오. 그래야 땅은 황폐하게 되지 않고 우리도 죽지 않고 살 것입니다."
  5. 기근이 심해져서 이집트 사람들은 더 버틸 수가 없었다. 그리하여 모두들 토지를 요셉에게 팔았다. 요셉이 그것을 사서 파라오에게 바치고 보니, 이집트 온 땅은 파라오의 것이 되었다.
  1. As for the people, he removed them to the cities from one end of Egypt's border to the other.
  2. Only the land of the priests he did not buy, for the priests had an allotment from Pharaoh, and they lived off the allotment which Pharaoh gave them. Therefore, they did not sell their land.
  3. Then Joseph said to the people, "Behold, I have today bought you and your land for Pharaoh; now, here is seed for you, and you may sow the land.
  4. "At the harvest you shall give a fifth to Pharaoh, and four-fifths shall be your own for seed of the field and for your food and for those of your households and as food for your little ones."
  5. So they said, "You have saved our lives! Let us find favor in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh's slaves."
  1. 그리고 온 이집트 땅에 사는 백성들은 다 그의 종이 되었다.
  2. 그러나 사제들의 땅만은 사들이지 않았다. 그 땅은 사제들이 파라오에게 하사받은 땅이었다. 그들은 파라오에게서 녹을 타먹고 살고 있었기 때문에 땅을 팔 필요가 없었다.
  3. 요셉이 백성에게 선포하였다. "나는 오늘 너희와 너희 밭을 사서 파라오께 바쳤다. 여기 씨앗이 있으니 가져다 땅에 뿌려라.
  4. 그리고 추수 때마다 오분의 일을 파라오에게 바쳐야 한다. 나머지 오분의 사는 너희 것이다. 그 중에 밭에 뿌릴 씨앗을 남기고는 너희와 너희 집안 식구의 양식으로 삼아라. 또 어린것들도 먹여 살려라."
  5. 그들이 대답하였다. "어른께서 우리의 목숨을 살려주셨습니다. 그러니 어른 좋으실 대로 하십시오. 우리는 파라오의 종이 되겠습니다."
  1. Joseph made it a statute concerning the land of Egypt valid to this day, that Pharaoh should have the fifth; only the land of the priests did not become Pharaoh's.
  2. Now Israel lived in the land of Egypt, in Goshen, and they acquired property in it and were fruitful and became very numerous.
  3. Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years; so the length of Jacob's life was one hundred and forty-seven years.
  4. When the time for Israel to die drew near, he called his son Joseph and said to him, "Please, if I have found favor in your sight, place now your hand under my thigh and deal with me in kindness and faithfulness. Please do not bury me in Egypt,
  5. but when I lie down with my fathers, you shall carry me out of Egypt and bury me in their burial place." And he said, "I will do as you have said."
  1. 이렇게 하여 이집트 토지에 관하여 요셉이 만든 법령은 오늘날까지도 살아 있는데 그것은 즉 파라오에게 오분의 일을 바쳐야 한다는 것이다. 그러나 사제들의 땅만은 파라오의 것이 되지 않았다.
  2. 이스라엘은 이집트 땅 고센 지방에 자리를 잡았다. 거기에서 땅을 차지하고 자손을 많이 낳아 크게 불어났다.
  3. 야곱은 이집트 땅에서 십칠 년을 더 살았다. 그래서 야곱이 산 햇수는 모두 백사십칠 년이 되었다.
  4. 이스라엘은 죽을 날이 가까운 줄 알고 아들 요셉을 불러 당부하였다. "네가 정말 나를 기쁘게 해줄 마음이 있거든, 네 신의를 성실하게 지켜 나를 이집트에 묻지 않겠다고 네 손을 내 사타구니에 넣고 맹세해 다오.
  5. 내가 내 조상과 같이 잠들면 나를 이집트에서 내다 그분들이 묻힌 자리에 함께 묻어다오." 그가 대답하였다. "아버지께서 말씀하신 대로 하겠습니다."
  1. He said, "Swear to me " So he swore to him Then Israel bowed in worship at the head of the bed.
  1. "그러면 이제 나에게 맹세하여라." 요셉이 시키는 대로 맹세하자, 이스라엘은 침상 머리맡에 엎드려 하느님께 경배 드렸다.
 
  므낫세와 에브라임(48:1-48:22)    
 
  1. Now it came about after these things that Joseph was told, "Behold, your father is sick." So he took his two sons Manasseh and Ephraim with him.
  2. When it was told to Jacob, "Behold, your son Joseph has come to you," Israel collected his strength and sat up in the bed.
  3. Then Jacob said to Joseph, "God Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan and blessed me,
  4. and He said to me, 'Behold, I will make you fruitful and numerous, and I will make you a company of peoples, and will give this land to your descendants after you for an everlasting possession.'
  5. "Now your two sons, who were born to you in the land of Egypt before I came to you in Egypt, are mine; Ephraim and Manasseh shall be mine, as Reuben and Simeon are.
  1. 이런 일이 있은 뒤, 요셉은 아버지가 아프다는 말을 전해 들었다. 그는 두 아들 므나쎄와 에브라임을 데리고 갔다.
  2. 아들 요셉이 문병 왔다는 말이 야곱에게 전해지자, 이스라엘은 기력을 가다듬고 침상에 일어나 앉았다.
  3. 야곱이 요셉에게 일렀다. "전능하신 하느님께서 가나안 땅 루즈에서 나에게 나타나 이렇게 복을 내리셨다.
  4. '내가 너에게 많은 자손이 생겨 불어나게 하여 많은 민족이 모인 집단을 이루게 하리라. 또 이 땅을 너의 후손들에게 주어 길이 차지하게 하리라.'
  5. 그런데 내가 너를 만나러 이집트로 오기 전에 네가 얻은 두 아들 에브라임과 므나쎄는 이제 르우벤이나 시므온과 같이 내 아들 항렬에 들어야 한다.
  1. "But your offspring that have been born after them shall be yours; they shall be called by the names of their brothers in their inheritance.
  2. "Now as for me, when I came from Paddan, Rachel died, to my sorrow, in the land of Canaan on the journey, when there was still some distance to go to Ephrath; and I buried her there on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem)."
  3. When Israel saw Joseph's sons, he said, "Who are these?"
  4. Joseph said to his father, "They are my sons, whom God has given me here " So he said, "Bring them to me, please, that I may bless them."
  5. Now the eyes of Israel were so dim from age that he could not see Then Joseph brought them close to him, and he kissed them and embraced them.
  1. 그 아이들 다음으로 난 아들들이 네 자식이 되는 것이다. 그 아이들은 형들이 차지할 유산을 상속받을 것이다.
  2. 내가 바딴을 떠나 가나안 땅에 와서 길을 가는 도중에 네 어미 라헬이 죽었다. 에브랏 채 못 미친 길 가에 나는 네 어미를 묻었다. 그 에브랏이 곧 베들레헴이다."
  3. 이스라엘이 요셉의 아들들을 보고 물었다. "얘들이 누구냐?"
  4. "이것들은 하느님께서 이 곳에서 저에게 주신 제 아들들입니다." 하고 요셉은 아버지에게 대답하였다. "이리로 가까이 오게 하여라. 내가 그 아이들에게 복을 빌어주겠다." 이렇게 말을 했지만,
  5. 이스라엘은 나이가 많아 눈이 어두워 앞을 못 보는 처지였다. 요셉이 그들을 가까이 데려오자 야곱은 그들에게 입을 맞추며 끌어안고
  1. Israel said to Joseph, "I never expected to see your face, and behold, God has let me see your children as well."
  2. Then Joseph took them from his knees, and bowed with his face to the ground.
  3. Joseph took them both, Ephraim with his right hand toward Israel's left, and Manasseh with his left hand toward Israel's right, and brought them close to him.
  4. But Israel stretched out his right hand and laid it on the head of Ephraim, who was the younger, and his left hand on Manasseh's head, crossing his hands, although Manasseh was the firstborn.
  5. He blessed Joseph, and said, "The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, The God who has been my shepherd all my life to this day,
  1. 요셉에게 말하였다. "나는 네 얼굴을 보리라고도 생각하지 못했는데 이제 하느님께서 네 아이들까지 보게 해주시는구나."
  2. 요셉은 자기의 아이들을 아버지의 무릎에서 받고는 얼굴을 땅에 대고 엎드려 절을 했다.
  3. 그리고 요셉은 두 아이 가운데 에브라임은 오른손으로 이끌어 이스라엘의 왼쪽에, 므나쎄는 왼손으로 이끌어 이스라엘의 오른쪽에 가까이 가게 하였다.
  4. 그러자 이스라엘은 손을 엇갈리게 내밀어 아우인 에브라임의 머리에는 오른손을, 맏아들인 므나쎄의 머리에는 왼손을 얹고
  5. 이렇게 복을 빌어주었다. "나의 조상 아브라함과 이사악이 살아가는 것을 지켜보아 주신 하느님, 태어날 때부터 이 날까지 나의 목자가 되어주신 하느님,
  1. The angel who has redeemed me from all evil, Bless the lads; And may my name live on in them, And the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; And may they grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth."
  2. When Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand on Ephraim's head, it displeased him; and he grasped his father's hand to remove it from Ephraim's head to Manasseh's head.
  3. Joseph said to his father, "Not so, my father, for this one is the firstborn. Place your right hand on his head."
  4. But his father refused and said, "I know, my son, I know; he also will become a people and he also will be great. However, his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his descendants shall become a multitude of nations."
  5. He blessed them that day, saying, "By you Israel will pronounce blessing, saying, 'May God make you like Ephraim and Manasseh!'" Thus he put Ephraim before Manasseh.
  1. 온갖 어려움에서 나를 건져내 준 하느님의 천사가 이 아이들에게 복을 내려주시기를 빕니다. 나의 이름과 조상들의 이름 아브라함과 이사악이 이 아이들에게 살아 있기를. 이 세상 한복판에서 왕성하게 불어나기를 빕니다."
  2. 요셉은 아버지가 오른손을 에브라임의 머리 위에 얹은 것을 보고는 못마땅하게 여겨 에브라임의 머리 위에 얹은 아버지의 손을 므나쎄의 머리에 옮겨놓으려 했다.
  3. 그러면서 아버지에게 아뢰었다. "아닙니다. 아버지, 이 아이가 맏아들입니다. 오른손을 이 아이 머리에 얹으셔야 합니다."
  4. 그러나 아버지는 거절하며 대답하였다. "아들아, 나도 안다. 왜 모르겠느냐? 이 아이도 한 족속을 이룰 것이다. 크게 될 것이다. 그렇지만 아우가 형보다 더 커져 그의 후손은 숱한 민족을 이룰 것이다."
  5. 그 날 야곱은 이렇게 그들에게 복을 빌어주었다. "이스라엘 백성은 너희의 덕을 입고 살며 '하느님께서 너를 에브라임처럼, 므나쎄처럼 세워주시기 바란다.' 하리라." 이렇게 그는 에브라임을 므나쎄보다 앞세웠다.
  1. Then Israel said to Joseph, "Behold, I am about to die, but God will be with you, and bring you back to the land of your fathers.
  2. "I give you one portion more than your brothers, which I took from the hand of the Amorite with my sword and my bow."
  1. 그리고 나서 그는 요셉에게 다시 말하였다. "나는 이제 죽겠지만 하느님께서 너희를 보살펴 주시어 조상의 땅으로 다시 돌아가게 해주실 것이다.
  2. 내 칼과 활로 아모리 사람 손에서 빼앗은 세겜 하나만은 네 형제들에게 주지 않고 너에게 준다."
