출애굽기 19:1-20:26

 시내 광야에서 하나님께서는 이스라엘 백성들과 언약을 맺기 위하여 모세를 통해 율법 이행에 관한 확약을 받고 성결을 요구하셨다. 그 후 하나님께서는 시내 산에 강림하셔서 모세에게 백성들이 지켜야 할 십계명을 주시고, 하나님의 강림을 두려워하는 백성들에게 번제와 화목제를 드릴 것을 명하셨다.
  
  시내 산 언약 체결 준비(19:1-19:25)    
 
  1. In the third month after the sons of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on that very day they came into the wilderness of Sinai.
  2. When they set out from Rephidim, they came to the wilderness of Sinai and camped in the wilderness; and there Israel camped in front of the mountain.
  3. Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him from the mountain, saying, "Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob and tell the sons of Israel:
  4. 'You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings, and brought you to Myself.
  5. 'Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine;
  1. 이스라엘 백성이 이집트 땅에서 나온 지 석 달째 되는 초하룻날, 바로 그 날 그들은 시나이 광야에 이르렀다.
  2. 그들은 르비딤을 떠나 시나이 광야에 이르러 그 광야에 진을 쳤다. 이스라엘이 그 곳 산 앞에 진을 친 다음,
  3. 모세는 하느님 계신 곳으로 올라갔다. 야훼께서 산에서 그를 부르셨다. "너는 야곱 일족에게 이렇게 말하여라. 이스라엘 자손에게 이렇게 가르쳐주어라.
  4. '너희는 내가 이집트인들을 어떻게 다루었는지, 너희를 어떻게 독수리 날개에 태워 나에게로 데려왔는지 보지 않았느냐?
  5. 이제 너희가 나의 말을 듣고 내가 세워준 계약을 지킨다면, 너희야말로 뭇 민족 가운데서 내 것이 되리라. 온 세계가 나의 것이 아니냐?
  1. and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words that you shall speak to the sons of Israel."
  2. So Moses came and called the elders of the people, and set before them all these words which the LORD had commanded him.
  3. All the people answered together and said, "All that the LORD has spoken we will do!" And Moses brought back the words of the people to the LORD.
  4. The LORD said to Moses, "Behold, I will come to you in a thick cloud, so that the people may hear when I speak with you and may also believe in you forever." Then Moses told the words of the people to the LORD.
  5. The LORD also said to Moses, "Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments;
  1. 너희야말로 사제의 직책을 맡은 내 나라, 거룩한 내 백성이 되리라.' 이것이 네가 이스라엘 자손에게 일러줄 말이다."
  2. 모세가 돌아와 백성 가운데서 장로들을 불러모으고 야훼께서 분부하신 이 말씀을 모두 그들에게 선포하였다.
  3. 그러자 백성들은 일제히 "야훼께서 말씀하신 것은 모두 그대로 실천하겠습니다." 하고 대답하였다. 모세는 백성들의 말을 야훼께 그대로 아뢰었다.
  4. 야훼께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "내가 너와 말하는 소리를 이 백성이 듣고 또 너를 길이 믿게 하기 위하여 이제 짙은 구름 속에서 너에게 나타나리라." 모세가 백성들의 말을 또다시 야훼께 아뢰자
  5. 야훼께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "너는 이 백성에게로 가서 오늘과 내일 몸과 마음을 깨끗이 하라고 하여라. 옷을 빨고
  1. and let them be ready for the third day, for on the third day the LORD will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.
  2. "You shall set bounds for the people all around, saying, 'Beware that you do not go up on the mountain or touch the border of it; whoever touches the mountain shall surely be put to death.
  3. 'No hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned or shot through; whether beast or man, he shall not live ' When the ram's horn sounds a long blast, they shall come up to the mountain."
  4. So Moses went down from the mountain to the people and consecrated the people, and they washed their garments.
  5. He said to the people, "Be ready for the third day; do not go near a woman."
  1. 셋째 날을 맞을 준비를 갖추게 하여라. 셋째 날 야훼는 온 백성이 보는 가운데 이 시나이 산에 내리리라.
  2. 너는 이 산기슭을 돌아가며 표를 해놓고, 아무도 이 산에 오르거나 이 산기슭에 발을 들여놓지 말아야 하며 이 산에 발을 들여놓는 날에는 반드시 죽으리라고 일러주어라.
  3. 짐승이든 사람이든 한 발짝이라도 들여놓으면 살아 남지 못하리라. 그런 자는 손을 댈 것도 없이 돌로 쳐죽이든지 활로 쏴 죽여라. 산양 뿔 나팔 소리가 길게 울리거든 그 사람들로 하여금 올라오게 하여라."
  4. 모세가 산에서 내려와 백성에게 이르러 그들을 성결하게 하였다. 그들은 옷을 빨았다.
  5. 그는 백성에게 셋째 날을 맞을 준비를 하고 여자를 가까이하지 말라고 당부하였다.
  1. So it came about on the third day, when it was morning, that there were thunder and lightning flashes and a thick cloud upon the mountain and a very loud trumpet sound, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled.
  2. And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.
  3. Now Mount Sinai was all in smoke because the LORD descended upon it in fire; and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked violently.
  4. When the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and God answered him with thunder.
  5. The LORD came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain; and the LORD called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.
  1. 셋째 날 아침, 천둥 소리와 함께 번개가 치고 시나이 산 위에 짙은 구름이 덮이며 나팔 소리가 크게 울려 퍼지자 진지에 있던 백성이 모두 떨었다.
  2. 모세는 백성들로 하여금 하느님을 만나보게 하려고 진지에서 데리고 나와 산기슭에 세웠다.
  3. 시나이 산은 연기가 자욱하였다. 야훼께서 불 속에서 내려오셨던 것이다. 가마에서 뿜어 나오듯 연기가 치솟으며 산이 송두리째 뒤흔들렸다.
  4. 나팔 소리가 점점 크게 울려 퍼지는 가운데 모세가 하느님께 말씀을 올리자 하느님께서 천둥 소리로 대답하셨다.
  5. 야훼께서 시나이 산 봉우리에 내려오셔서 모세에게 산봉우리로 오르라고 하시자 모세가 올라갔다.
  1. Then the LORD spoke to Moses, "Go down, warn the people, so that they do not break through to the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish.
  2. "Also let the priests who come near to the LORD consecrate themselves, or else the LORD will break out against them."
  3. Moses said to the LORD, "The people cannot come up to Mount Sinai, for You warned us, saying, 'Set bounds about the mountain and consecrate it.'"
  4. Then the LORD said to him, "Go down and come up again, you and Aaron with you; but do not let the priests and the people break through to come up to the LORD, or He will break forth upon them."
  5. So Moses went down to the people and told them.
  1. 야훼께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "내려가서 이 백성에게, 야훼를 보려고 마구 넘어 들어오다가 많은 사람이 죽는 일이 생기지 않도록 단단히 일러두어라.
  2. 야훼에게 가까이 올 사제들도 몸을 깨끗이 해야 한다. 그렇게 하지 않으면 야훼가 내려가 그들을 마구 칠 것이다."
  3. 모세가 대답하였다. "이 백성은 시나이 산으로 올라오지 못합니다. 이 산 둘레에 표시를 해서 아무도 침범하지 못하게 하라고 경고해 주시지 않으셨습니까?"
  4. 야훼께서 그에게 "그러면 어서 내려가서 아론을 데리고 올라오너라. 그러나 사제들이나 백성은 야훼를 보러 마구 올라와서는 안 된다. 올라오면 야훼가 내려가 그들을 마구 칠 것이다." 하고 말씀하시자
  5. 모세가 백성에게로 내려가 그 말씀을 전하였다.
 
  십계명(20:1-20:26)    
 
  1. Then God spoke all these words, saying,
  2. "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
  3. "You shall have no other gods before Me.
  4. "You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.
  5. "You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me,
  1. 이 모든 말씀은 하느님께서 하신 말씀이다
  2. "너희 하느님은 나 야훼다. 바로 내가 너희를 이집트 땅 종살이하던 집에서 이끌어낸 하느님이다.
  3. 너희는 내 앞에서 다른 신을 모시지 못한다.
  4. 너희는 위로 하늘에 있는 것이나 아래로 땅 위에 있는 것이나, 땅 아래 물 속에 있는 어떤 것이든지 그 모양을 본떠 새긴 우상을 섬기지 못한다.
  5. 그 앞에 절하며 섬기지 못한다. 나 야훼 너희의 하느님은 질투하는 신이다. 나를 싫어하는 자에게는 아비의 죄를 그 후손 삼 대에까지 갚는다.
  1. but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
  2. "You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.
  3. "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
  4. "Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
  5. but the seventh day is a sabbath of the LORD your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you.
  1. 그러나 나를 사랑하여 나의 명령을 지키는 사람에게는 그 후손 수천 대에 이르기까지 한결같은 사랑을 베푼다.
  2. 너희는 너희 하느님의 이름 야훼를 함부로 부르지 못한다. 야훼는 자기의 이름을 함부로 부르는 자를 죄없다고 하지 않는다.
  3. 안식일을 기억하여 거룩하게 지켜라.
  4. 엿새 동안 힘써 네 모든 생업에 종사하고
  5. 이렛날은 너희 하느님 야훼 앞에서 쉬어라. 그 날 너희는 어떤 생업에도 종사하지 못한다. 너희와 너희 아들 딸, 남종 여종뿐 아니라 가축이나 집 안에 머무는 식객이라도 일을 하지 못한다.
  1. "For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and made it holy.
  2. "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the LORD your God gives you.
  3. "You shall not murder.
  4. "You shall not commit adultery.
  5. "You shall not steal.
  1. 야훼께서 엿새 동안 하늘과 땅과 바다와 그 안에 있는 모든 것을 만드시고, 이레째 되는 날 쉬셨기 때문이다. 그래서 야훼께서 안식일에 복을 내리시고 거룩한 날로 삼으신 것이다.
  2. 너희는 부모를 공경하여라. 그래야 너희는 너희 하느님 야훼께서 주신 땅에서 오래 살 것이다.
  3. 살인하지 못한다.
  4. 간음하지 못한다.
  5. 도둑질하지 못한다.
  1. "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
  2. "You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife or his male servant or his female servant or his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor."
  3. All the people perceived the thunder and the lightning flashes and the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood at a distance.
  4. Then they said to Moses, "Speak to us yourself and we will listen; but let not God speak to us, or we will die."
  5. Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid; for God has come in order to test you, and in order that the fear of Him may remain with you, so that you may not sin."
  1. 이웃에게 불리한 거짓 증언을 못한다.
  2. 네 이웃의 집을 탐내지 못한다. 네 이웃의 아내나 남종이나 여종이나 소나 나귀 할 것 없이 네 이웃의 소유는 무엇이든지 탐내지 못한다."
  3. 온 백성은 천둥과 번개와 나팔 소리와 산에 자욱한 연기를 멀리서 바라보고 두려워 떨며
  4. 모세에게 말하였다. "당신이 우리에게 말해 주시오. 잘 듣겠습니다. 하느님께서 직접 우리에게 말씀하신다면 우리는 죽을 것입니다."
  5. 모세가 백성에게 일러주었다. "두려워하지 마라. 하느님께서는 너희를 시험하시기 위하여 나타나신 것이다. 너희로 하여금 하느님 두려운 줄 알고 실수하는 일이 없도록 하시려는 것이다."
  1. So the people stood at a distance, while Moses approached the thick cloud where God was.
  2. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, 'You yourselves have seen that I have spoken to you from heaven.
  3. 'You shall not make other gods besides Me; gods of silver or gods of gold, you shall not make for yourselves.
  4. 'You shall make an altar of earth for Me, and you shall sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen; in every place where I cause My name to be remembered, I will come to you and bless you.
  5. 'If you make an altar of stone for Me, you shall not build it of cut stones, for if you wield your tool on it, you will profane it.
  1. 모세가 하느님께서 계시는 먹구름 쪽으로 나아가는 동안 백성은 멀리 서 있었다.
  2. 야훼께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "너는 이스라엘 백성에게 이렇게 일러라. '너희는 내가 하늘에서 너희에게 말하는 것을 보았다.
  3. 너희는 신상들을 만들어 내 곁에 두지 못한다. 은으로든 금으로든 신상들은 만들지도 못한다.
  4. 너희는 흙으로 나의 제단을 만들고 그 위에다 번제물과 화목제물로 너희의 양과 소를 바쳐라. 내가 내 이름을 부르게 하는 곳이면 어디에서든지 내가 너희를 찾아가서 너희에게 복을 주리라.
  5. 만일 돌로 나의 제단을 쌓을 경우에는 다듬지 않은 돌로 쌓아라. 거기에 정을 대면 부정을 타게 된다.
  1. 'And you shall not go up by steps to My altar, so that your nakedness will not be exposed on it.'
  1. 또 층계를 밟고 나의 제단에 올라오지 못한다. 그 위에서 너희 알몸이 드러나서는 안 된다.'
