- He entered Jericho and was passing through.
- And there was a man called by the name of Zaccheus; he was a chief tax collector and he was rich.
- Zaccheus was trying to see who Jesus was, and was unable because of the crowd, for he was small in stature.
- So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree in order to see Him, for He was about to pass through that way.
- When Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, "Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house."

- 예수께서 예리고에 이르러 거리를 지나가고 계셨다.
- 거기에 자캐오라는 돈 많은 세관장이 있었는데
- 예수가 어떤 분인지 보려고 애썼으나 키가 작아서 군중에 가려 볼 수가 없었다.
- 그래서 예수께서 지나가시는 길을 앞질러 달려가서 길가에 있는 돌무화과나무 위에 올라갔다.
- 예수께서 그 곳을 지나시다가 그를 쳐다보시며 "자캐오야, 어서 내려오너라. 오늘은 내가 네 집에 머물러야 하겠다." 하고 말씀하셨다.

- And he hurried and came down and received Him gladly.
- When they saw it, they all began to grumble, saying, "He has gone to be the guest of a man who is a sinner."
- Zaccheus stopped and said to the Lord, "Behold, Lord, half of my possessions I will give to the poor, and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will give back four times as much."
- And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham.
- "For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."

- 자캐오는 이 말씀을 듣고 얼른 나무에서 내려와 기쁜 마음으로 예수를 자기 집에 모셨다.
- 이것을 보고 사람들은 모두 "저 사람이 죄인의 집에 들어가 묵는구나!" 하며 못마땅해 하였다.
- 그러나 자캐오는 일어서서 "주님, 저는 제 재산의 반을 가난한 사람들에게 나누어주렵니다. 그리고 제가 남을 속여먹은 것이 있다면 그 네 갑절은 갚아주겠습니다." 하고 말씀 드렸다.
- 예수께서 자캐오를 보시며 "오늘 이 집은 구원을 얻었다. 이 사람도 아브라함의 자손이다.
- 사람의 아들은 잃은 사람들을 찾아 구원하러 온 것이다." 하고 말씀하셨다.

- While they were listening to these things, Jesus went on to tell a parable, because He was near Jerusalem, and they supposed that the kingdom of God was going to appear immediately.
- So He said, "A nobleman went to a distant country to receive a kingdom for himself, and then return.
- "And he called ten of his slaves, and gave them ten minas and said to them, 'Do business with this until I come back.'
- "But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, 'We do not want this man to reign over us.'
- "When he returned, after receiving the kingdom, he ordered that these slaves, to whom he had given the money, be called to him so that he might know what business they had done.

- 이 말씀을 듣고 있던 사람들은 예수께서 예루살렘에 가까이 오신 것을 보고 하느님의 나라가 당장에 나타날 줄 알고 있었다. 그래서 예수께서는 그들에게 또 비유 하나를 들려주셨다.
- "한 귀족이 왕위를 받아오려고 먼 길을 떠나게 되었다.
- 그래서 그는 종 열 사람을 불러 금화 한 개씩을 나누어주면서 '내가 돌아올 때까지 이 돈을 가지고 장사를 해보아라.' 하고 일렀다.
- 그런데 그의 백성들은 그를 미워하고 있었으므로 그들의 대표를 뒤따라 보내어 '우리는 그자가 우리 왕이 되는 것을 원하지 않습니다.' 하고 진정하게 하였다.
- 그 귀족은 왕위를 받아가지고 돌아오자마자 돈을 맡겼던 종들을 불러서 그 동안에 돈을 얼마씩이나 벌었는지를 따져보았다.

- "The first appeared, saying, 'Master, your mina has made ten minas more.'
- "And he said to him, 'Well done, good slave, because you have been faithful in a very little thing, you are to be in authority over ten cities.'
- "The second came, saying, 'Your mina, master, has made five minas.'
- "And he said to him also, 'And you are to be over five cities.'
- "Another came, saying, 'Master, here is your mina, which I kept put away in a handkerchief;

- 첫째 종이 와서 '주인님, 주인님이 주신 금화 하나를 열 개로 늘렸습니다.' 하고 말하자
- 주인은 '잘 했다. 너는 착한 종이로구나. 네가 지극히 작은 일에 충성을 다했으니 나는 너에게 열 고을을 다스리게 하겠다.' 하며 칭찬하였다.
- 둘째 종이 와서 '주인님, 주인님이 주신 금화 하나로 금화 다섯을 벌었습니다.' 하고 말하자
- 주인은 '너에게는 다섯 고을을 맡기겠다.' 하였다.
- 그런데 그 다음에 온 종의 말은 이러하였다. '주인님, 주인님이 주신 금화가 여기 그대로 있습니다. 저는 이것을 수건에 싸두었습니다.

- for I was afraid of you, because you are an exacting man; you take up what you did not lay down and reap what you did not sow.'
- "He said to him, 'By your own words I will judge you, you worthless slave. Did you know that I am an exacting man, taking up what I did not lay down and reaping what I did not sow?
- 'Then why did you not put my money in the bank, and having come, I would have collected it with interest?'
- "Then he said to the bystanders, 'Take the mina away from him and give it to the one who has the ten minas.'
- "And they said to him, 'Master, he has ten minas already.'

- 주인님은 지독한 분이라 맡기지도 않은 것을 찾아가고 심지도 않은 데서 거두시기에 저는 무서워서 이렇게 하였습니다.'
- 이 말을 들은 주인은 '이 몹쓸 종아, 나는 바로 네 입에서 나온 말로 너를 벌주겠다. 내가 맡기지도 않은 것을 찾아가고 심지도 않은 것을 거두는 지독한 사람으로 알고 있었단 말이지?
- 그렇다면 너는 왜 내 돈을 돈 쓰는 사람에게 꾸어주지 않았느냐? 그랬으면 내가 돌아와서 이자까지 붙여서 원금을 돌려받을 수 있지 않았겠느냐?' 하며 호통을 친 다음
- 그 자리에 서 있던 사람들에게 '저자에게서 금화를 빼앗아 금화 열 개를 가진 사람에게 주어라.' 하고 일렀다.
- 사람들이 '주인님, 그 사람은 금화를 열 개나 가지고 있지 않습니까?' 하고 말하자

- "I tell you that to everyone who has, more shall be given, but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away.
- "But these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slay them in my presence."

- 주인은 '잘 들어라. 누구든지 있는 사람은 더 받겠고 없는 사람은 있는 것마저 빼앗길 것이다.
- 그리고 내가 왕이 되는 것을 반대하던 내 원수들은 여기 끌어내다가 내 앞에서 죽여라.' 하고 말하였다."
