여호수아 21:27-22:34

 게르손과 므라리 자손이 얻은 성읍들이 기록되어 있다. 정복 전쟁이 그치고 영토 분배가 종료되자 여호수아는 요단 동편 지파들에게 귀향을 명령했다. 자기의 기업으로 돌아가던 르우벤, 갓, 므낫세 반 지파의 사람들이 요단 강변에 큰 단을 쌓았다. 우상 숭배를 위해 단을 세운 것으로 오해한 이스라엘 백성들은 크게 분노했지만 그들의 해명을 듣고 오해를 풀었다.
  
  게르손·므라리의 성읍(21:27-21:45)    
 
  1. To the sons of Gershon, one of the families of the Levites, from the half-tribe of Manasseh, they gave Golan in Bashan, the city of refuge for the manslayer, with its pasture lands, and Be-eshterah with its pasture lands; two cities.
  2. From the tribe of Issachar, they gave Kishion with its pasture lands, Daberath with its pasture lands,
  3. Jarmuth with its pasture lands, En-gannim with its pasture lands; four cities.
  4. From the tribe of Asher, they gave Mishal with its pasture lands, Abdon with its pasture lands,
  5. Helkath with its pasture lands and Rehob with its pasture lands; four cities.
  1. 레위인 갈래 가운데서 게르손 후손에게는 바산에 있는 도피성 골란, 아스다롯 두 성읍과 거기에 딸린 목장 지대를 므나쎄 지파 동반부에서 떼어주었다.
  2. 이싸갈 지파에서는 키스욘, 다브랏,
  3. 야르뭇, 엔간님 네 성읍과 거기에 딸린 목장 지대를 떼어주었다.
  4. 아셀 지파에서는 미스알, 압돈,
  5. 헬캇, 르홉 네 성읍과 거기에 딸린 목장 지대를 떼어주었다.
  1. From the tribe of Naphtali, they gave Kedesh in Galilee, the city of refuge for the manslayer, with its pasture lands and Hammoth-dor with its pasture lands and Kartan with its pasture lands; three cities.
  2. All the cities of the Gershonites according to their families were thirteen cities with their pasture lands.
  3. To the families of the sons of Merari, the rest of the Levites, they gave from the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam with its pasture lands and Kartah with its pasture lands.
  4. Dimnah with its pasture lands, Nahalal with its pasture lands; four cities.
  5. From the tribe of Reuben, they gave Bezer with its pasture lands and Jahaz with its pasture lands,
  1. 납달리 지파에서는 갈릴리에 있는 살인자의 도피성 케데스, 함못도르, 카르단 세 성읍과 거기에 딸린 목장 지대를 떼어주었다.
  2. 이렇게 게르손 사람들에게는 갈래를 따라 모두 열세 성읍과 거기에 딸린 목장 지대가 돌아갔다.
  3. 레위 사람 가운데 남은 므라리 후손 갈래에게는 즈불룬 지파에서 욕느암, 카르다,
  4. 림몬, 나할랄 네 성읍과 거기에 딸린 목장 지대를 떼어주었다.
  5. 요르단 강 건너편 예리고 동쪽 르우벤 지파에서는 고원 사막 지대에 있는 도피성 베셀, 야하스,
  1. Kedemoth with its pasture lands and Mephaath with its pasture lands; four cities.
  2. From the tribe of Gad, they gave Ramoth in Gilead, the city of refuge for the manslayer, with its pasture lands and Mahanaim with its pasture lands,
  3. Heshbon with its pasture lands, Jazer with its pasture lands; four cities in all.
  4. All these were the cities of the sons of Merari according to their families, the rest of the families of the Levites; and their lot was twelve cities.
  5. All the cities of the Levites in the midst of the possession of the sons of Israel were forty-eight cities with their pasture lands.
  1. 크데못, 메바앗 네 성읍과 거기에 딸린 목장 지대를 떼어주었다.
  2. 가드 지파에서는 도피성 라못길르앗, 마하나임,
  3. 헤스본, 야젤 네 성읍과 거기에 딸린 목장 지대를 떼어주었다.
  4. 이렇게 나머지 레위인들의 갈래 가운데 므라리 갈래 후손에게는 모두 열두 성읍이 몫으로 돌아갔다.
  5. 이렇게 이스라엘 백성이 차지한 영토 가운데서 레위인들에게 떼어준 성읍은 목장 지대까지 붙여서 모두 마흔여덟 곳이었다.
  1. These cities each had its surrounding pasture lands; thus it was with all these cities.
  2. So the LORD gave Israel all the land which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and they possessed it and lived in it.
  3. And the LORD gave them rest on every side, according to all that He had sworn to their fathers, and no one of all their enemies stood before them; the LORD gave all their enemies into their hand.
  4. Not one of the good promises which the LORD had made to the house of Israel failed; all came to pass.
  1. 이 성읍들은 각각 목장 지대가 그 주위에 딸려 있었다. 이상의 성읍들이 다 그러했다.
  2. 이렇게 야훼께서 그들의 조상에게 주겠다고 맹세한 모든 땅을 주셨으므로 이스라엘 백성은 그 땅을 차지하고 정착하였다.
  3. 야훼께서는 그들의 조상들에게 맹세하신 대로 사방에 평화를 주셨다. 원수들 가운데 아무도 감히 그들을 적대해 일어서는 자가 없었다. 야훼께서 그들의 손에 원수들을 부치셨던 것이다.
  4. 야훼께서 이스라엘 가문에 약속해 주신 온갖 좋은 일은 하나도 그대로 안 된 일이 없이 다 이루어졌다.
 
  요단 동편 지파의 귀향(22:1-22:34)    
 
  1. Then Joshua summoned the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh,
  2. and said to them, "You have kept all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, and have listened to my voice in all that I commanded you.
  3. "You have not forsaken your brothers these many days to this day, but have kept the charge of the commandment of the LORD your God.
  4. "And now the LORD your God has given rest to your brothers, as He spoke to them; therefore turn now and go to your tents, to the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you beyond the Jordan.
  5. "Only be very careful to observe the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, to love the LORD your God and walk in all His ways and keep His commandments and hold fast to Him and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul."
  1. 이렇게 하고 나서 여호수아는 르우벤과 가드와 므나쎄 지파 절반을 불러놓고
  2. 일렀다. "너희는 야훼의 종 모세에게서 받은 명령을 지켰다. 그리고 내가 명령한 대로 내 말도 다 들었다.
  3. 너희는 지나간 긴 세월을 이날까지 자기 겨레를 저버리지 않고 야훼께 받은 분부를 성심껏 실천하였다.
  4. 마침내 너희 하느님 야훼께서는 약속대로 너희 겨레들에게 안식을 주셨다. 그러니 너희는 이제 너희 천막으로 돌아가거라. 야훼의 종 모세에게서 받은 요르단 강 건너편에 있는 너희의 소유지로 가거라.
  5. 다만 야훼의 종 모세가 내린 계명과 법만은 있는 힘을 다하여 성심껏 지켜야 한다. 너희의 하느님 야훼를 사랑하며 그가 일러주신 길을 따라 살아야 한다. 그의 명령을 지키고 그에게만 충성을 바쳐야 한다. 마음을 다 기울이고 정성을 다 쏟아 그를 섬겨야 한다."
  1. So Joshua blessed them and sent them away, and they went to their tents.
  2. Now to the one half-tribe of Manasseh Moses had given a possession in Bashan, but to the other half Joshua gave a possession among their brothers westward beyond the Jordan. So when Joshua sent them away to their tents, he blessed them,
  3. and said to them, "Return to your tents with great riches and with very much livestock, with silver, gold, bronze, iron, and with very many clothes; divide the spoil of your enemies with your brothers."
  4. The sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh returned home and departed from the sons of Israel at Shiloh which is in the land of Canaan, to go to the land of Gilead, to the land of their possession which they had possessed, according to the command of the LORD through Moses.
  5. When they came to the region of the Jordan which is in the land of Canaan, the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh built an altar there by the Jordan, a large altar in appearance.
  1. 그들은 여호수아가 빌어주는 복을 받고 그의 배웅을 받으며 자기들의 천막으로 돌아갔다.
  2. 므나쎄 반쪽 지파는 모세에게서 바산에 있는 땅을 받았고 나머지 반쪽 지파는 여호수아에게서 같은 겨레들과 함께 요르단 강 서쪽에 있는 땅을 받았다. 여호수아는 그들을 그들의 천막으로 보내면서 복을 빌어주고
  3. 일렀다. "너희의 재물을 한껏 가지고 너희의 천막으로 돌아가거라. 한껏 많은 짐승떼를 이끌고 금, 은, 동, 철과 옷을 한껏 많이 가지고 가거라. 원수들에게서 빼앗은 전리품을 너희 겨레들과 나누어가지고 가거라."
  4. 르우벤 후손과 가드 후손과 므나쎄 지파 절반은 가나안 땅 실로에서 이스라엘 백성과 헤어져 모세가 일러준 야훼의 분부를 따라 차지한 그들의 소유지인 길르앗으로 돌아갔다.
  5. 그들은 가나안 땅에 있는 요르단 지대에 이르렀다. 거기 요르단 강 가에다 르우벤 후손과 가드 후손과 므나쎄 반쪽 지파는 보기에도 어마어마한 제단을 쌓았다.
  1. And the sons of Israel heard it said, "Behold, the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh have built an altar at the frontier of the land of Canaan, in the region of the Jordan, on the side belonging to the sons of Israel."
  2. When the sons of Israel heard of it, the whole congregation of the sons of Israel gathered themselves at Shiloh to go up against them in war.
  3. Then the sons of Israel sent to the sons of Reuben and to the sons of Gad and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, into the land of Gilead, Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest,
  4. and with him ten chiefs, one chief for each father's household from each of the tribes of Israel; and each one of them was the head of his father's household among the thousands of Israel.
  5. They came to the sons of Reuben and to the sons of Gad and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, to the land of Gilead, and they spoke with them saying,
  1. 르우벤 후손과 가드 후손과 므나쎄 반쪽 지파가 가나안 땅 맞은편 요르단 지대, 이스라엘 백성이 있는 곳의 건너편에 제단을 쌓았다는 말이 이스라엘 백성에게 전하여졌다.
  2. 그래서 이스라엘 백성 온 회중은 그들을 치러 올라가려고 실로에 모였다.
  3. 이스라엘 백성은 엘르아잘의 아들 비느하스 사제를 길르앗으로 파송하여 르우벤 후손과 가드 후손과 므나쎄 반쪽 지파를 만나게 하였다.
  4. 이스라엘 각 지파의 가문에서 한 사람씩 선출된 대표 열 명이 동행하였다. 그들은 모두 각 가문의 어른으로서 이스라엘 군단 사령관들이었다.
  5. 그들은 길르앗 지방으로 가서 르우벤 후손과 가드 후손과 므나쎄 반쪽 지파를 만나 말하였다.
  1. "Thus says the whole congregation of the LORD, 'What is this unfaithful act which you have committed against the God of Israel, turning away from following the LORD this day, by building yourselves an altar, to rebel against the LORD this day?
  2. 'Is not the iniquity of Peor enough for us, from which we have not cleansed ourselves to this day, although a plague came on the congregation of the LORD,
  3. that you must turn away this day from following the LORD? If you rebel against the LORD today, He will be angry with the whole congregation of Israel tomorrow.
  4. 'If, however, the land of your possession is unclean, then cross into the land of the possession of the LORD, where the LORD'S tabernacle stands, and take possession among us. Only do not rebel against the LORD, or rebel against us by building an altar for yourselves, besides the altar of the LORD our God.
  5. 'Did not Achan the son of Zerah act unfaithfully in the things under the ban, and wrath fall on all the congregation of Israel? And that man did not perish alone in his iniquity.'"
  1. "이는 야훼의 온 회중이 보내는 말이오. '그대들이 이스라엘의 하느님을 배신하고 오늘에 와서 야훼께 등을 돌리다니, 그리하여 야훼께 반역하여 제단을 쌓다니, 어찌 이런 배신 행위를 할 수 있단 말이오?
  2. 브올에서 지은 죄만으로는 아직 부족하단 말이오? 그 때문에 야훼의 회중에 벌이 내렸고 이날까지도 그 죄를 벗지 못하고 있는 것이 아니오?
  3. 그대들은 오늘에 와서 야훼께 등을 돌렸소. 그대들이 오늘 야훼께 반역하였으니 내일이라도 온 이스라엘 회중에게 그의 분노가 내릴 것이오.
  4. 만일 그대들의 소유지가 부정하다면 야훼의 성막이 자리잡은 야훼의 소유지로 건너오기만 하면 될 것 아니오? 우리와 한몫 땅을 차지하면 될 것 아니냔 말이오? 야훼께 반역하는 일은 하지 마시오. 우리 하느님 야훼의 제단 아닌 다른 제단은 세우고 우리마저 그 반역 행위에 끌어들이지 마시오.
  5. 제라의 아들 아간이 부정한 것을 가졌다가 그 반역 행위 때문에 온 이스라엘 회중 위에 그의 분노가 떨어진 것 아니오? 그 한 사람의 죄 때문에 목숨을 잃은 사람이 어디 그 한 사람뿐이었소?'"
  1. Then the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh answered and spoke to the heads of the families of Israel.
  2. "The Mighty One, God, the LORD, the Mighty One, God, the LORD! He knows, and may Israel itself know. If it was in rebellion, or if in an unfaithful act against the LORD do not save us this day!
  3. "If we have built us an altar to turn away from following the LORD, or if to offer a burnt offering or grain offering on it, or if to offer sacrifices of peace offerings on it, may the LORD Himself require it.
  4. "But truly we have done this out of concern, for a reason, saying, 'In time to come your sons may say to our sons, "What have you to do with the LORD, the God of Israel?
  5. "For the LORD has made the Jordan a border between us and you, you sons of Reuben and sons of Gad; you have no portion in the LORD." So your sons may make our sons stop fearing the LORD.'
  1. 르우벤 후손과 가드 후손과 므나쎄 반쪽 지파가 이스라엘 군단 사령관들에게 대답하였다.
  2. "가장 높으신 하느님 야훼, 가장 높으신 하느님 야훼, 주께서 아십니다. 이스라엘이여! 그대들도 알기를 바랍니다. 우리가 야훼께 반역을 하다니요! 야훼께 배신을 하다니요! 그렇다면 하느님께서 오늘 우리를 건져주지 않으셔도 좋습니다.
  3. 야훼께 등을 돌리려고 제단을 쌓다니요! 우리가 만일 여기에다 번제물과 곡식예물을 바치고 친교제물을 잡아 바친다면, 야훼께서 그 책임을 우리에게 물으실 것이오.
  4. 맹세합니다. 우리가 이것을 만든 것은 훗날 그대들의 후손이 우리 자식들을 보고 '너희는 이스라엘의 하느님 야훼와 아무 관계가 없다'고 말할까봐 한 일이오.
  5. '야훼께서 우리와 너희 르우벤 후손과 가드 후손을 요르단 강을 경계로 하여 갈라놓으셨다.' 하고 말하면서 그대들의 후손이 우리 자식들에게 야훼를 공경하는 길을 막을까봐 한 일이오.
  1. "Therefore we said, 'Let us build an altar, not for burnt offering or for sacrifice;
  2. rather it shall be a witness between us and you and between our generations after us, that we are to perform the service of the LORD before Him with our burnt offerings, and with our sacrifices and with our peace offerings, so that your sons will not say to our sons in time to come, "You have no portion in the LORD."'
  3. "Therefore we said, 'It shall also come about if they say this to us or to our generations in time to come, then we shall say, "See the copy of the altar of the LORD which our fathers made, not for burnt offering or for sacrifice; rather it is a witness between us and you."'
  4. "Far be it from us that we should rebel against the LORD and turn away from following the LORD this day, by building an altar for burnt offering, for grain offering or for sacrifice, besides the altar of the LORD our God which is before His tabernacle."
  5. So when Phinehas the priest and the leaders of the congregation, even the heads of the families of Israel who were with him, heard the words which the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the sons of Manasseh spoke, it pleased them.
  1. 그래서 이 제단을 세운 것이지 번제물이나 제물을 바치려는 것은 아니었소.
  2. 실상 우리는 이것을 우리와 그대들 사이에, 대대로 우리 후손들 사이에 증거로 세운 것이었소. 우리도 번제물과 제물과 친교제물을 가지고 야훼 앞에 나아가 예배를 드릴 수 있다는 것을 증거하려는 것이었소. 그리하여 훗날 그대들의 후손이 우리 후손에게 '너희는 야훼께 받을 몫이 없다'고 말하지 못하게 하려는 것이었소.
  3. 훗날 우리와 우리 후손들이 그런 말을 듣게 되더라도 '보라, 이것은 우리 조상들이 만든 야훼의 제단 모형에 지나지 않는다. 번제물이나 제물을 바치는 것이 아니라, 우리와 그대들 사이를 증거하는 것에 지나지 않는다.' 하고 말할 수 있게 하려는 생각이었소.
  4. 우리가 야훼께 반역하다니요! 오늘에 와서 야훼께 등을 돌리다니요! 우리 하느님 야훼의 성막 앞에 있는 당신의 제단 아닌 다른 제단을 세우고 번제물이나 곡식예물이나 제물을 바치다니, 어림도 없는 소리요."
  5. 비느하스 사제와 동행한 회중 대표들, 이스라엘 군단 사령관들은 르우벤 후손과 가드의 후손과 므나쎄 반쪽 지파가 하는 말을 듣고 만족하였다.
  1. And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said to the sons of Reuben and to the sons of Gad and to the sons of Manasseh, "Today we know that the LORD is in our midst, because you have not committed this unfaithful act against the LORD; now you have delivered the sons of Israel from the hand of the LORD."
  2. Then Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest and the leaders returned from the sons of Reuben and from the sons of Gad, from the land of Gilead to the land of Canaan, to the sons of Israel, and brought back word to them.
  3. The word pleased the sons of Israel, and the sons of Israel blessed God; and they did not speak of going up against them in war to destroy the land in which the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad were living.
  4. The sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad called the altar Witness; "For," they said, "it is a witness between us that the LORD is God."
  1. 엘르아잘의 아들 비느하스 사제는 르우벤 후손과 가드 후손과 므나쎄 반쪽 지파에게 말하였다. "그대들이 야훼께 배신하지 않은 것을 보고 우리는 야훼께서 우리 가운데 계시다는 것을 오늘 알았소. 이제 그대들은 이스라엘 백성을 야훼의 손에서 건져주었소."
  2. 그리고 엘르아잘의 아들 비느하스 사제와 백성의 대표들은 길르앗에서 르우벤 후손과 가드 후손과 헤어져 가나안 땅, 이스라엘 백성에게 돌아와서 사실을 보고하였다.
  3. 그 보고를 듣고 이스라엘 백성은 만족하여 하느님을 찬양하였다. 그리고 르우벤 후손과 가드 후손을 쳐 올라가 그들이 사는 땅을 부수자던 말을 다시는 하지 않게 되었다.
  4. 르우벤 후손과 가드 후손은 "이 제단은 야훼야말로 하느님이시라는 것을 우리 가운데서 증거하는 것이다." 하면서 그 제단을 에드라고 불렀다.
