열왕기하 17:1-18:12

 하나님의 말씀을 거역하고 우상 숭배로 점철된 패역한 길을 걷던 북이스라엘은 결국 호세아 왕을 마지막으로 앗수르에 의해 멸망당하고 말았다. 유다 역대 왕 가운데 가장 탁월했던 히스기야 왕이 대대적인 종교 개혁을 단행하고 선정을 베풀었다.
  
  북이스라엘의 멸망(17:1-17:41)    
 
  1. In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah, Hoshea the son of Elah became king over Israel in Samaria, and reigned nine years.
  2. He did evil in the sight of the LORD, only not as the kings of Israel who were before him.
  3. Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against him, and Hoshea became his servant and paid him tribute.
  4. But the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea, who had sent messengers to So king of Egypt and had offered no tribute to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year; so the king of Assyria shut him up and bound him in prison.
  5. Then the king of Assyria invaded the whole land and went up to Samaria and besieged it three years.
  1. 엘라의 아들 호세아가 이스라엘 왕위에 오른 것은 유다 왕 아하즈 제십이년의 일이었다. 그는 사마리아에서 구 년간 다스렸는데
  2. 야훼 보시기에 악한 일을 행하였다. 그러나 그의 전에 있던 이스라엘 왕들만큼 악하지는 않았다.
  3. 호세아는 아시리아 왕 샬마네셀이 쳐들어오자 그의 신하가 되어 조공을 바쳤다.
  4. 그런데 호세아는 아시리아 왕에게 매년 바치던 조공을 바치지 않고 이집트 왕 소에게 사절단을 보냈다. 호세아가 이렇게 반역하는 것을 보고 아시리아 왕은 호세아를 잡아 감옥에 가두었다.
  5. 그리고 이스라엘 전역을 침공, 사마리아를 포위하여 삼 년 동안 공격하였다.
  1. In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria captured Samaria and carried Israel away into exile to Assyria, and settled them in Halah and Habor, on the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.
  2. Now this came about because the sons of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, who had brought them up from the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and they had feared other gods
  3. and walked in the customs of the nations whom the LORD had driven out before the sons of Israel, and in the customs of the kings of Israel which they had introduced.
  4. The sons of Israel did things secretly which were not right against the LORD their God. Moreover, they built for themselves high places in all their towns, from watchtower to fortified city.
  5. They set for themselves sacred pillars and Asherim on every high hill and under every green tree,
  1. 마침내 호세아 제구년에 아시리아 왕은 사마리아를 함락시키고 이스라엘 백성들을 사로잡아 아시리아로 데려다가 할라 지방과 고잔의 하볼 강 연안과 메대의 성읍들에 이주시켰다.
  2. 이스라엘이 이렇게 된 것은 자기들을 이집트에서 이끌어내시어 이집트 왕 파라오의 손아귀에서 건져주신 저희 하느님 야훼께 죄를 지었기 때문이었다. 그들은 다른 신들을 섬기며,
  3. 야훼께서 자기들의 면전에서 쫓아낸 민족들의 풍습과 이스라엘 왕들이 멋대로 만들어 낸 규례를 따라 살았다.
  4. 그들은 자기들의 하느님 야훼께 해서는 안 될 일을 하였다. 감시망대에서 요새화된 성읍에 이르기까지 사람 사는 곳이면 어디에든지 산당을 세웠고
  5. 모든 높은 언덕 위와 우거진 나무 아래에 석상과 아세라 목상을 세웠다. 그리고는
  1. and there they burned incense on all the high places as the nations did which the LORD had carried away to exile before them; and they did evil things provoking the LORD.
  2. They served idols, concerning which the LORD had said to them, "You shall not do this thing."
  3. Yet the LORD warned Israel and Judah through all His prophets and every seer, saying, "Turn from your evil ways and keep My commandments, My statutes according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you through My servants the prophets."
  4. However, they did not listen, but stiffened their neck like their fathers, who did not believe in the LORD their God.
  5. They rejected His statutes and His covenant which He made with their fathers and His warnings with which He warned them And they followed vanity and became vain, and went after the nations which surrounded them, concerning which the LORD had commanded them not to do like them.
  1. 야훼께서 이스라엘의 면전에서 쫓아내신 민족들이 하던 대로 그 모든 산당에서 제물을 살라 바쳤다. 그들은 이러한 못된 짓을 하여 야훼의 속을 썩여드렸다.
  2. 또 야훼께서 엄하게 금하신 우상 숭배를 일삼았다.
  3. 그래도 야훼께서는 당신의 모든 예언자들과 선견자들을 시켜 이스라엘과 유다에 이렇게 엄하게 일러주셨다. "너희들은 그 악습을 버리고 돌아와 나의 계명과 규정을 지켜라. 내 종 예언자들을 시켜 너희 조상들에게 전한 법을 그대로 지켜라."
  4. 그러나 그들은 그 말씀을 듣지 않았다. 그들의 조상들도 저희 하느님 야훼를 믿지 않았지만, 그들도 조상 못지않게 고집이 세었다.
  5. 그들은 야훼께서 저희 선조들과 계약을 맺으시며 주신 규정과 엄히 일러주신 훈령을 업신여겼다. 허수아비를 따르다가 허수아비가 되었고, 야훼께서 본받지 말라고 하신 주위에 있는 민족들을 본받았다.
  1. They forsook all the commandments of the LORD their God and made for themselves molten images, even two calves, and made an Asherah and worshiped all the host of heaven and served Baal.
  2. Then they made their sons and their daughters pass through the fire, and practiced divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking Him.
  3. So the LORD was very angry with Israel and removed them from His sight; none was left except the tribe of Judah.
  4. Also Judah did not keep the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the customs which Israel had introduced.
  5. The LORD rejected all the descendants of Israel and afflicted them and gave them into the hand of plunderers, until He had cast them out of His sight.
  1. 저희 하느님 야훼의 계명을 저버리고 자기들을 위하여 쇠붙이를 녹여 송아지 두 마리를 부어 만들었으며, 아세라 목상을 깎아 만들었고 하늘의 별들을 예배하고 바알을 섬겼다.
  2. 그들은 자기 아들 딸들을 불에 살라 바쳤고, 점쟁이나 술객에게 가서 운수를 보았다. 이렇게 스스로 자유를 잃은 종의 신세가 되어 야훼의 눈에 거슬리는 일을 함으로써 야훼의 속을 썩여드렸던 것이다.
  3. 야훼께서 크게 노하시어 이스라엘을 당신 앞에서 쫓아내시니 남은 것은 유다 지파밖에 없었다.
  4. 그러나 유다도 저희 하느님 야훼의 계명을 지키지 아니하고 이스라엘이 받아들여 지키던 풍속을 따랐다.
  5. 야훼께서는 온 이스라엘 족속을 버리시어 괴롭게 하셨다. 그리고 침략자들에게 넘겨주시어 당신 앞에서 끌려가게 하셨다.
  1. When He had torn Israel from the house of David, they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king Then Jeroboam drove Israel away from following the LORD and made them commit a great sin.
  2. The sons of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they did not depart from them
  3. until the LORD removed Israel from His sight, as He spoke through all His servants the prophets So Israel was carried away into exile from their own land to Assyria until this day.
  4. The king of Assyria brought men from Babylon and from Cuthah and from Avva and from Hamath and Sephar-vaim, and settled them in the cities of Samaria in place of the sons of Israel. So they possessed Samaria and lived in its cities.
  5. At the beginning of their living there, they did not fear the LORD; therefore the LORD sent lions among them which killed some of them.
  1. 야훼께서 이스라엘을 다윗 왕조에서 분리시키실 때에 이스라엘 사람들은 느봇의 아들 여로보암을 왕으로 세웠다가, 그의 꾐에 빠져 야훼를 섬기지 아니하고 큰 죄에 빠지게 되었다.
  2. 이스라엘 백성은 여로보암이 지은 온갖 죄에 빠져 그 죄를 버리지 못하다가,
  3. 마침내 야훼 앞에서 쫓겨나게 되었다. 당신의 종 예언자들을 시켜서 말씀하셨던 대로 된 것이다. 이리하여 이스라엘 백성은 고국을 등지고 아시리아로 사로잡혀 가서 이 날까지 거기에 붙잡혀 있다.
  4. 아시리아 왕은 바빌론과 구다와 아와와 하맛과 스발와임에서 사람들을 데려다가 이스라엘 사람들이 살던 사마리아 성읍들에 이주시켜 그들로 하여금 그 곳에서 자리 잡고 살게 하였다.
  5. 그들은 그 곳으로 옮겨 와서 처음에는 야훼를 공경하지 않았다. 그래서 야훼께서는 사자들을 보내시어 사람들을 잡아먹게 하셨다.
  1. So they spoke to the king of Assyria, saying, "The nations whom you have carried away into exile in the cities of Samaria do not know the custom of the god of the land; so he has sent lions among them, and behold, they kill them because they do not know the custom of the god of the land."
  2. Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, "Take there one of the priests whom you carried away into exile and let him go and live there; and let him teach them the custom of the god of the land."
  3. So one of the priests whom they had carried away into exile from Samaria came and lived at Bethel, and taught them how they should fear the LORD.
  4. But every nation still made gods of its own and put them in the houses of the high places which the people of Samaria had made, every nation in their cities in which they lived.
  5. The men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, the men of Cuth made Nergal, the men of Hamath made Ashima,
  1. 이 일이 아시리아 왕에게 보고되었다. "임금님께서 데려다가 사마리아의 여러 성읍에 이주시키신 민족들이 그 지방의 신을 위하는 법을 모릅니다. 그 지방의 신은 자기를 위하는 법을 아는 자가 하나도 없다고 하여 사자를 보내어 사람들을 잡아먹게 하였습니다."
  2. 이 말을 듣고 아시리아 왕이 명령을 내렸다. "사마리아에서 잡아 온 사제 한 명을 그리로 보내도록 하여라. 그 곳에 가서 살면서 그 지방의 신을 위하는 법을 가르치도록 하여라."
  3. 그리하여 사마리아에서 잡혀 온 사제 하나가 베델에 가서 살면서 그들에게 야훼 공경하는 법을 가르치게 되었다.
  4. 그러나 그 민족들은 저마다 자기네가 사는 곳에서 저희의 신상들을 만들어 사마리아인들이 지은 산당들 안에 두었다.
  5. 바빌론 사람들은 수꼿브놋을 만들었고 구다 사람들은 네르갈을 만들었으며 하맛 사람들은 아시마를 만들었고,
  1. and the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak; and the Sepharvites burned their children in the fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech the gods of Sepharvaim.
  2. They also feared the LORD and appointed from among themselves priests of the high places, who acted for them in the houses of the high places.
  3. They feared the LORD and served their own gods according to the custom of the nations from among whom they had been carried away into exile.
  4. To this day they do according to the earlier customs: they do not fear the LORD, nor do they follow their statutes or their ordinances or the law, or the commandments which the LORD commanded the sons of Jacob, whom He named Israel;
  5. with whom the LORD made a covenant and commanded them, saying, "You shall not fear other gods, nor bow down yourselves to them nor serve them nor sacrifice to them.
  1. 아와 사람들은 니브하즈와 다르닥을 만들었다. 스발와임 사람들은 그들의 신인 아드람멜렉과 아남멜렉에게 자녀들을 제물로 살라 바쳤다.
  2. 그러는 한편 그들은 야훼도 공경하였다. 자기들 가운데서 출신을 가리지 않고 사람들을 뽑아 산당의 사제직을 맡겨 그 곳에 있는 산당들에서 사제 일을 보게 하였다.
  3. 이렇게 그들은 야훼를 공경하면서도 각 민족이 붙잡혀 오기 전에 가졌던 풍습을 따라 저희의 신도 섬겼다.
  4. 그들은 오늘날에도 그러한 옛 풍습을 지키고 있다. 그러다 보니 야훼를 참으로 공경하는 사람이 없었다. 야훼께서 이스라엘이라 이름지어 주신 야곱의 후손들에게 분부하신 규정과 법령과 가르침과 계명을 그대로 따르는 사람이 없었다.
  5. 그들과 계약을 맺으실 때 야훼께서는 그들에게 이렇게 명령하셨던 것이다. "너희는 다른 신을 공경하지 마라. 절하여 섬기며 제사를 드리지 마라.
  1. "But the LORD, who brought you up from the land of Egypt with great power and with an outstretched arm, Him you shall fear, and to Him you shall bow yourselves down, and to Him you shall sacrifice.
  2. "The statutes and the ordinances and the law and the commandment which He wrote for you, you shall observe to do forever; and you shall not fear other gods.
  3. "The covenant that I have made with you, you shall not forget, nor shall you fear other gods.
  4. "But the LORD your God you shall fear; and He will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies."
  5. However, they did not listen, but they did according to their earlier custom.
  1. 오직 큰 힘으로 팔을 뻗어 너희를 이집트에서 이끌어낸 나 야훼만 공경하고 절하며 제사를 드려라.
  2. 너희들에게 준 규정과 법령과 가르침과 계명을 사뭇 성실히 지키고 다른 신들을 공경하지 마라.
  3. 내가 너희와 맺은 계약을 잊지 말고 다른 신들을 섬기지 마라.
  4. 다만 너희 하느님 야훼만을 공경하여라. 너희를 모든 원수에게서 건져줄 다른 이가 없다."
  5. 그러나 그들은 그 말씀을 듣지 아니하고 옛 풍습만을 따라 살았다.
  1. So while these nations feared the LORD, they also served their idols; their children likewise and their grandchildren, as their fathers did, so they do to this day.
  1. 이 민족들은 한편으로는 야훼를 공경하면서 동시에 저희의 우상들도 섬겼다. 그들은 후손들도 대대로 이 날까지 선조들의 풍습을 그대로 지켜 내려왔다.
 
  히스기야의 통치(18:1-18:12)    
 
  1. Now it came about in the third year of Hoshea, the son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah became king.
  2. He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Abi the daughter of Zechariah.
  3. He did right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father David had done.
  4. He removed the high places and broke down the sacred pillars and cut down the Asherah He also broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made, for until those days the sons of Israel burned incense to it; and it was called Nehushtan.
  5. He trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel; so that after him there was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor among those who were before him.
  1. 아하즈의 아들 히즈키야가 유다 왕이 된 것은 이스라엘 왕 엘라의 아들 호세아 제삼년의 일이었다.
  2. 그는 이십오 세에 즉위하여 예루살렘에서 이십구 년간 다스렸다. 그의 어머니는 즈가리야의 딸로서 이름을 아비라 하였다.
  3. 그는 그의 선조 다윗이 그러하였던 것같이 야훼 보시기에 올바른 일을 하였다.
  4. 그는 산당들을 철거하고 석상들을 부수고 아세라 목상들을 찍어버렸다. 그리고 모세가 만들었던 구리뱀을 산산조각 내었다. 이스라엘 사람들이 그 때까지 느후스탄이라고 불리우던 그 구리뱀에게 제물을 살라 바치고 있었던 것이다.
  5. 그는 이스라엘의 하느님 야훼를 의지하였다. 유다 왕들 가운데 전에도 후에도 그만한 왕이 없었다.
  1. For he clung to the LORD; he did not depart from following Him, but kept His commandments, which the LORD had commanded Moses.
  2. And the LORD was with him; wherever he went he prospered And he rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him.
  3. He defeated the Philistines as far as Gaza and its territory, from watchtower to fortified city.
  4. Now in the fourth year of King Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria and besieged it.
  5. At the end of three years they captured it; in the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was captured.
  1. 그는 야훼를 배반하지 아니하고 충성을 다하여 야훼께서 모세에게 주신 계명들을 준수하였다.
  2. 야훼께서는 그와 함께 계시며 그가 하는 모든 일을 이루어주셨다. 그는 아시리아 왕에게 반기를 들어 그의 지배를 벗어났다.
  3. 가자에 이르기까지 불레셋 전지역을 감시망대니 요새화된 성이니 할 것 없이 모두 쳐부순 장본인이 바로 그였다.
  4. 히즈키야 왕 제사년, 곧 이스라엘 왕 엘라의 아들 호세아 제칠년에 아시리아 왕 샬마네셀이 쳐들어와 사마리아를 포위하고
  5. 삼 년 만에 함락시켰다. 사마리아가 함락된 것은 히즈키야 제육년, 곧 이스라엘 왕 호세아 제구년이었다.
  1. Then the king of Assyria carried Israel away into exile to Assyria, and put them in Halah and on the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes,
  2. because they did not obey the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed His covenant, even all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded; they would neither listen nor do it.
  1. 아시리아 왕은 이스라엘 사람들을 사로잡아 아시리아로 끌고 가 할라 지방과 고잔의 하볼 강 연안과 메대의 성읍들에 이주시켰다.
  2. 그것은 이스라엘 사람들이 저희 하느님 야훼의 말씀을 듣지 아니하고 야훼께서 모세에게 세워주신 계약과 모세가 지시한 모든 것을 어겨, 듣지 아니하고 그대로 따르지도 아니하였기 때문이었다.
