- Now when David reached old age, he made his son Solomon king over Israel.
- And he gathered together all the leaders of Israel with the priests and the Levites.
- The Levites were numbered from thirty years old and upward, and their number by census of men was 38,000.
- Of these, 24,000 were to oversee the work of the house of the LORD; and 6,000 were officers and judges,
- and 4,000 were gatekeepers, and 4,000 were praising the LORD with the instruments which David made for giving praise.

- 다윗은 수명이 다하여 늙었으므로 아들 솔로몬에게 왕위를 물려주어 이스라엘을 다스리게 하려고,
- 온 이스라엘의 관리와 사제와 레위인들을 불러모았다.
- 레위인으로서 삼십 세 이상 되는 사람들만 등록시키니, 장정의 수가 삼만 팔천이 되었다.
- 그 가운데 이만 사천 명이 야훼의 성전 일을 맡은 자였고 육천 명은 행정과 재판을,
- 사천 명은 수위 일을, 사천 명은 성가대원으로서 다윗이 만든 악기에 맞추어 야훼를 찬양하는 일을 하고 있었다.

- David divided them into divisions according to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
- Of the Gershonites were Ladan and Shimei.
- The sons of Ladan were Jehiel the first and Zetham and Joel, three.
- The sons of Shimei were Shelomoth and Haziel and Haran, three. These were the heads of the fathers' households of Ladan.
- The sons of Shimei were Jahath, Zina, Jeush and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.

- 다윗은 레위 후손을 게르손과 크핫과 므라리 가문별로 반을 편성하였다.
- 게르손 갈래에는 라아단파와 시므이파가 있었다.
- 라아단파에는 수령 여히엘반과 제담반, 요엘반 해서 모두 세 반이 있었다.
- 시므이파에는 슬로못반, 하지엘반, 하란반 이렇게 세 반이 있었다. 이들이 라아단 가문의 반장들이다.
- 시므이파에는 야핫반, 지자반, 여우스반, 브리아반이 있었다. 이들이 시므이파의 네 반이다.

- Jahath was the first and Zizah the second; but Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons, so they became a father's household, one class.
- The sons of Kohath were four: Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel.
- The sons of Amram were Aaron and Moses And Aaron was set apart to sanctify him as most holy, he and his sons forever, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister to Him and to bless in His name forever.
- But as for Moses the man of God, his sons were named among the tribe of Levi.
- The sons of Moses were Gershom and Eliezer.

- 수령은 야핫이었고 그 다음은 지자였다. 그런데 여우스와 브리아는 아들이 많지 않아서 한 집안으로 등록되었다.
- 크핫 갈래에는 아므람파, 이스할파, 헤브론파, 우찌엘파 이렇게 네 파가 있었다.
- 아론과 모세는 아므람파 사람이다. 아론은 가장 거룩한 일을 맡도록 성별되었다. 그와 그의 후손은 언제까지나 야훼 앞에서 향을 피우며 그를 섬기고 그의 이름으로 사람들에게 복을 빌어주는 일을 맡았다.
- 하느님의 사람 모세와 그의 후손도 레위 지파 명단에 올랐다.
- 모세에게는 게르솜과 엘리에젤이라는 아들이 있었다.

- The son of Gershom was Shebuel the chief.
- The son of Eliezer was Rehabiah the chief; and Eliezer had no other sons, but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.
- The son of Izhar was Shelomith the chief.
- The sons of Hebron were Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third and Jekameam the fourth.
- The sons of Uzziel were Micah the first and Isshiah the second.

- 게르솜파의 수령은 수바엘이었다.
- 엘리에젤파의 수령은 르하비야였다. 엘리에젤에게는 다른 아들이 없었지만 르하비야에게는 아들이 많았다.
- 이스할파의 수령은 슬로밋이었다.
- 헤브론파의 수령은 여리야, 그 다음은 아마리야, 셋째는 야하지엘, 넷째는 여카므암이었다.
- 우찌엘파의 수령은 미가, 그 다음은 이씨야였다.

- The sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli were Eleazar and Kish.
- Eleazar died and had no sons, but daughters only, so their brothers, the sons of Kish, took them as wives.
- The sons of Mushi were three: Mahli, Eder and Jeremoth.
- These were the sons of Levi according to their fathers' households, even the heads of the fathers' households of those of them who were counted, in the number of names by their census, doing the work for the service of the house of the LORD, from twenty years old and upward.
- For David said, "The LORD God of Israel has given rest to His people, and He dwells in Jerusalem forever.

- 므라리 갈래에는 마흘리파와 무시파가 있었다. 마흘리파에는 엘르아잘반과 키스반이 있었다.
- 엘르아잘은 아들은 없이 딸만 남겨두고 죽었다. 그의 조카인 키스의 아들들이 그의 딸들에게 장가들었다.
- 무시파에는 마흘리반, 에델반, 여레못반, 이렇게 세 반이 있었다.

- "Also, the Levites will no longer need to carry the tabernacle and all its utensils for its service."
- For by the last words of David the sons of Levi were numbered from twenty years old and upward.
- For their office is to assist the sons of Aaron with the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts and in the chambers and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of the house of God,
- and with the showbread, and the fine flour for a grain offering, and unleavened wafers, or what is baked in the pan or what is well-mixed, and all measures of volume and size.
- They are to stand every morning to thank and to praise the LORD, and likewise at evening,

- 그러므로 이제부터 레위인들은 성막을 메고 다니거나 거기에 소용되는 모든 기구를 가지고 다닐 필요가 없게 되었다."
- 다윗의 이 유언 때문에 레위인으로서 이십 세 이상 되는 사람은 모두 등록을 하게 되었다.
- 그들은 아론의 후손을 도와 성전 바깥 뜰과 방들을 보살피고 모든 거룩한 기구를 깨끗이 닦는 일을 하며 하느님의 성전 예배를 거들었다.
- 제사 상에 오르는 빵, 곡식 예물로 바치는 밀가루, 누룩 안 든 과자를 분량과 크기가 맞게 반죽하여 빵 굽는 판에 구워내는 일도 맡았다.
- 또 아침 저녁으로 야훼 앞에 나가 감사 찬송도 올리게 되어 있었다.

- and to offer all burnt offerings to the LORD, on the sabbaths, the new moons and the fixed festivals in the number set by the ordinance concerning them, continually before the LORD.
- Thus they are to keep charge of the tent of meeting, and charge of the holy place, and charge of the sons of Aaron their relatives, for the service of the house of the LORD.

- 안식일이나 초하루나 그 밖의 절기에 야훼께 번제를 바칠 때는 언제나 정원대로 야훼 앞에 나가 감사 찬송을 올려야 했다.
- 그들은 그렇게 만남의 장막, 성소를 보살폈고 한 집안인 아론 후손이 야훼의 성전에서 예배 드릴 때 도와줄 임무를 띠고 있었다.
