에스라

  본서는 하나님께서 예레미야를 통해 말씀하신 예언(렘 29:10-14), 즉 이스라엘 민족을 70년간의 포로 생활 후 다시 가나안 땅으로 인도하시리라는 약속의 성취 과정을 기록하고 있다. 그래서 이스라엘의 회복, 신앙과 예배의 구심적인 성전 재건, 야웨 신앙의 순수성 확립을 강조하고 있다.

  이스라엘 민족의 귀환은 3차에 걸쳐 이루어졌는데, 1,2차 귀환의 내용이 본서에 기록되고 있다. 1차 귀환과 성전 재건은 스룹바벨과 예수아를 중심으로 이루어졌으며, 2차 귀환은 에스라를 중심으로 이루어졌다. 에스라는 도덕적, 영적으로 폐허가 된 유대인들의 마음에 하나님의 법을 재건하는 신앙 개혁 운동을 일으켰다.

 

 

에스라 1:1-2:70

 하나님께서는 바사 왕 고레스의 마음을 감동시키셔서 이스라엘 백성에게 유다 예루살렘에 올라가 하나님의 전을 건축하라는 조서를 내리게 하셨다. 바벨론에서의 포로 생활을 청산하고 예루살렘으로 귀환한 사람들의 명단이 기록되어 있다.
  
  고레스의 조서(1:1-1:11)    
 
  1. Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he sent a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying:
  2. "Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, 'The LORD, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth and He has appointed me to build Him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah.
  3. 'Whoever there is among you of all His people, may his God be with him! Let him go up to Jerusalem which is in Judah and rebuild the house of the LORD, the God of Israel; He is the God who is in Jerusalem.
  4. 'Every survivor, at whatever place he may live, let the men of that place support him with silver and gold, with goods and cattle, together with a freewill offering for the house of God which is in Jerusalem.'"
  5. Then the heads of fathers' households of Judah and Benjamin and the priests and the Levites arose, even everyone whose spirit God had stirred to go up and rebuild the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem.
  1. 페르시아 황제 고레스 제일년이었다. 야훼께서는 일찍이 예레미야를 시켜 하신 말씀을 이루시려고 페르시아 황제 고레스의 마음을 움직이셨다. 그래서 고레스는 다음과 같은 칙령을 내리고 그것을 적은 칙서를 전국에 돌렸다.
  2. "페르시아 황제 고레스의 칙령이다. 하늘을 내신 하느님 야훼께서는 세상 모든 나라를 나에게 맡기셨다. 그리고 유다 나라 예루살렘에 당신의 성전을 지을 임무를 나에게 지워주셨다.
  3. 나는 그 하느님께서 너희 가운데 있는 당신의 모든 백성과 함께 계시기를 비는 바이다. 그 하느님은 유다 나라 예루살렘에 계시는 분이시니, 유다인으로 하여금 예루살렘으로 돌아가서 이스라엘의 하느님 야훼의 성전을 짓도록 하여주어라.
  4. 원주민들은, 여기저기 몸붙여 살다가 아직 살아 남은 유다인이 있거든 예루살렘에 있는 하느님의 성전에 가져다 바치도록 자원예물도 들려 보내고 금과 은과 세간과 가축도 주어서 보내어라."
  5. 유다 가문 어른들, 베냐민 가문 어른들, 사제들, 레위인들은 모두 예루살렘으로 돌아가, 야훼의 성전을 다시 세울 마음을 하느님께로부터 받아 길을 떠날 채비를 하게 되었다.
  1. All those about them encouraged them with articles of silver, with gold, with goods, with cattle and with valuables, aside from all that was given as a freewill offering.
  2. Also King Cyrus brought out the articles of the house of the LORD, which Nebuchadnezzar had carried away from Jerusalem and put in the house of his gods;
  3. and Cyrus, king of Persia, had them brought out by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and he counted them out to Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah.
  4. Now this was their number: 30 gold dishes, 1,000 silver dishes, 29 duplicates;
  5. 30 gold bowls, 410 silver bowls of a second kind and 1,000 other articles.
  1. 그러자 이웃 사람들은 저마다 온갖 자원예물과 금, 은, 세간, 가축 등 귀중한 것을 많이 내놓아 도와주었다.
  2. 황제 고레스는 느부갓네살이 예루살렘에서 가져다가 자기 신전에 두었던 야훼의 성전 기구들을 꺼내게 하였다.
  3. 페르시아 황제 고레스는 재무관 미드르닷을 시켜 그것을 유다 대표자인 세스바쌀에게 세어주었다.
  4. 그 품목은 아래와 같다. 금대야 서른 개, 은대야 천 개, 칼 스물아홉 자루,
  5. 금잔 서른 개, 버금가는 은잔 사백열 개, 그 밖에 다른 그릇 천 개,
  1. All the articles of gold and silver numbered 5,400. Sheshbazzar brought them all up with the exiles who went up from Babylon to Jerusalem.
  1. 금그릇과 은그릇을 합하여 모두 오천사백 개였다. 세스바쌀은 포로들을 이끌고 바빌론에서 예루살렘으로 돌아오면서 그것들을 함께 가지고 왔다.
 
  귀환자 명단(2:1-2:70)    
 
  1. Now these are the people of the province who came up out of the captivity of the exiles whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away to Babylon, and returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his city.
  2. These came with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Seraiah, Reelaiah, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispar, Bigvai, Rehum and Baanah. The number of the men of the people of Israel:
  3. the sons of Parosh, 2,172;
  4. the sons of Shephatiah, 372;
  5. the sons of Arah, 775;
  1. 바빌론 황제 느부갓네살에게 사로잡혀 바빌론으로 갔다가 예루살렘이나 유다 각 성읍에 돌아와 사는 백성은 아래와 같다.
  2. 이들은 즈루빠벨, 예수아, 느헤미야, 스라야, 르엘라야, 모르드개, 빌산, 미스발, 비그왜, 르훔, 바아나와 함께 돌아온 사람들이다.
  3. 바로스의 일가 이천백칠십이 명,
  4. 스바티야의 일가 삼백칠십이 명,
  5. 아라의 일가 칠백칠십오 명,
  1. the sons of Pahath-moab of the sons of Jeshua and Joab, 2,812;
  2. the sons of Elam, 1,254;
  3. the sons of Zattu, 945;
  4. the sons of Zaccai, 760;
  5. the sons of Bani, 642;
  1. 바핫모압의 일가, 곧 예수아와 요압의 일가 이천팔백십이 명,
  2. 엘람의 일가 천이백오십사 명,
  3. 자뚜의 일가 구백사십오 명,
  4. 자깨의 일가 칠백육십 명,
  5. 바니의 일가 육백사십이 명,
  1. the sons of Bebai, 623;
  2. the sons of Azgad, 1,222;
  3. the sons of Adonikam, 666;
  4. the sons of Bigvai, 2,056;
  5. the sons of Adin, 454;
  1. 베배의 일가 육백이십삼 명,
  2. 아즈갓의 일가 천이백이십이 명,
  3. 아도니캄의 일가 육백육십육 명,
  4. 비그왜의 일가 이천오십육 명,
  5. 아딘의 일가 사백오십사 명,
  1. the sons of Ater of Hezekiah, 98;
  2. the sons of Bezai, 323;
  3. the sons of Jorah, 112;
  4. the sons of Hashum, 223;
  5. the sons of Gibbar, 95;
  1. 아텔 곧 히즈키야의 일가 구십팔 명,
  2. 베새의 일가 삼백이십삼 명,
  3. 요라의 일가 백십이 명,
  4. 하숨의 일가 이백이십삼 명,
  5. 기빨의 일가 구십오 명,
  1. the men of Bethlehem, 123;
  2. the men of Netophah, 56;
  3. the men of Anathoth, 128;
  4. the sons of Azmaveth, 42;
  5. the sons of Kiriath-arim, Chephirah and Beeroth, 743;
  1. 베들레헴 사람 백이십삼 명,
  2. 느토바 사람 오십육 명,
  3. 아나돗 사람 백이십팔 명,
  4. 아즈마? 사람 사십이 명,
  5. 키럇여아림과 그비라와 브에롯 사람 칠백사십삼 명,
  1. the sons of Ramah and Geba, 621;
  2. the men of Michmas, 122;
  3. the men of Bethel and Ai, 223;
  4. the sons of Nebo, 52;
  5. the sons of Magbish, 156;
  1. 라마와 게바 사람 육백이십일 명,
  2. 미그맛 사람 백이십이 명,
  3. 베델과 아이 사람 이백이십삼 명,
  4. 느보 사람 오십이 명,
  5. 막비스 사람 백오십육 명,
  1. the sons of the other Elam, 1,254;
  2. the sons of Harim, 320;
  3. the sons of Lod, Hadid and Ono, 725;
  4. the men of Jericho, 345;
  5. the sons of Senaah, 3,630.
  1. 다른 엘람의 일가 천이백오십사 명,
  2. 하림의 일가 삼백이십 명,
  3. 롯과 하닷과 오노의 일가 칠백이십오 명,
  4. 예리고의 일가 삼백사십오 명,
  5. 스나아의 일가 삼천육백삼십 명이었다.
  1. The priests: the sons of Jedaiah of the house of Jeshua, 973;
  2. the sons of Immer, 1,052;
  3. the sons of Pashhur, 1,247;
  4. the sons of Harim, 1,017.
  5. The Levites: the sons of Jeshua and Kadmiel, of the sons of Hodaviah, 74.
  1. 사제는 여다야의 일가로서 예수아의 가문 구백칠십삼 명,
  2. 임멜의 일가 천오십이 명,
  3. 바스훌의 일가 천이백사십칠 명,
  4. 하림의 일가 천십칠 명이었다.
  5. 레위인은 예수아의 일가, 곧 카드미엘과 빈누이와 호다야의 일가 칠십사 명이었다.
  1. The singers: the sons of Asaph, 128.
  2. The sons of the gatekeepers: the sons of Shallum, the sons of Ater, the sons of Talmon, the sons of Akkub, the sons of Hatita, the sons of Shobai, in all 139.
  3. The temple servants: the sons of Ziha, the sons of Hasupha, the sons of Tabbaoth,
  4. the sons of Keros, the sons of Siaha, the sons of Padon,
  5. the sons of Lebanah, the sons of Hagabah, the sons of Akkub,
  1. 합창단은 아삽의 일가 백이십팔 명이었다.
  2. 수위는 살룸의 일가, 아텔의 일가, 탈몬의 일가, 아쿱의 일가, 하티타의 일가, 소배의 일가, 모두 백삼십구 명이었다.
  3. 성전 막일꾼은 시하의 일가, 하수바의 일가, 타바옷의 일가,
  4. 케롯의 일가, 시아하의 일가, 바돈의 일가,
  5. 르바나의 일가, 하가바의 일가, 아쿱의 일가,
  1. the sons of Hagab, the sons of Shalmai, the sons of Hanan,
  2. the sons of Giddel, the sons of Gahar, the sons of Reaiah,
  3. the sons of Rezin, the sons of Nekoda, the sons of Gazzam,
  4. the sons of Uzza, the sons of Paseah, the sons of Besai,
  5. the sons of Asnah, the sons of Meunim, the sons of Nephisim,
  1. 하갑의 일가, 사믈래의 일가, 하난의 일가,
  2. 기뗄의 일가, 가할의 일가, 르아야의 일가,
  3. 르신의 일가, 느코다의 일가, 가짬의 일가,
  4. 우짜의 일가, 바세아의 일가, 베새의 일가,
  5. 아스나의 일가, 므우님의 일가, 느부심의 일가,
  1. the sons of Bakbuk, the sons of Hakupha, the sons of Harhur,
  2. the sons of Bazluth, the sons of Mehida, the sons of Harsha,
  3. the sons of Barkos, the sons of Sisera, the sons of Temah,
  4. the sons of Neziah, the sons of Hatipha.
  5. The sons of Solomon's servants: the sons of Sotai, the sons of Hassophereth, the sons of Peruda,
  1. 박북의 일가, 하쿠바의 일가, 하르후르의 일가,
  2. 바슬룻의 일가, 므히다의 일가, 하르사의 일가,
  3. 바르코스의 일가, 시스라의 일가, 데마의 일가,
  4. 느시아의 일가, 하티바의 일가 사람들이었다.
  5. 솔로몬의 종들의 후손은 소태의 일가, 하쏘베렛의 일가, 브루다의 일가,
  1. the sons of Jaalah, the sons of Darkon, the sons of Giddel,
  2. the sons of Shephatiah, the sons of Hattil, the sons of Pochereth-hazzebaim, the sons of Ami.
  3. All the temple servants and the sons of Solomon's servants were 392.
  4. Now these are those who came up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addan and Immer, but they were not able to give evidence of their fathers' households and their descendants, whether they were of Israel:
  5. the sons of Delaiah, the sons of Tobiah, the sons of Nekoda, 652.
  1. 야알라의 일가, 다르콘의 일가, 기뗄의 일가,
  2. 스바티야의 일가, 하틸의 일가, 보게렛하쓰바임의 일가, 아미의 일가였다.
  3. 성전 막일꾼과 솔로몬의 종들의 후손은 모두 삼백구십이 명이었다.
  4. 델멜라, 델하르사, 그룹, 아딴, 임멜에서 돌아온 사람들로서 족보를 밝힐 수 없어 이스라엘 후손인지 아닌지 알 길이 없는 사람들이 있었는데, 그들은 아래와 같다.
  5. 들라야의 일가, 토비야의 일가, 느코다의 일가 육백오십이 명이었다.
  1. Of the sons of the priests: the sons of Habaiah, the sons of Hakkoz, the sons of Barzillai, who took a wife from the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and he was called by their name.
  2. These searched among their ancestral registration, but they could not be located; therefore they were considered unclean and excluded from the priesthood.
  3. The governor said to them that they should not eat from the most holy things until a priest stood up with Urim and Thummim.
  4. The whole assembly numbered 42,360,
  5. besides their male and female servants who numbered 7,337; and they had 200 singing men and women.
  1. 사제 가문 사람들 가운데도 그런 사람들이 있었다. 호바야의 일가, 하코스의 일가, 바르질래의 일가가 그러했다. 바르질래는 길르앗 사람 바르질래 가문에 장가들어 처가의 성을 받은 사람이었다.
  2. 호적부를 아무리 뒤져보아도 이 사람들의 이름이 나타나지 않아 이 사람들은 부정한 사람으로 인정받아 사제직에서 제외될 수밖에 없었다.
  3. 그들은 대사제가 임명되어 우림과 둠밈으로 이 일을 결정짓기까지 거룩한 음식을 먹지 못한다는 총독의 지시가 있었다.
  4. 온 회중을 합계하니 그 수효가 사만 이천삼백육십 명이었다.
  5. 그 밖에도 남녀 종 칠천삼백삼십 명이 있었고 남녀 가수 이백 명이 있었다.
  1. Their horses were 736; their mules, 245;
  2. their camels, 435; their donkeys, 6,720.
  3. Some of the heads of fathers' households, when they arrived at the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem, offered willingly for the house of God to restore it on its foundation.
  4. According to their ability they gave to the treasury for the work 61,000 gold drachmas and 5,000 silver minas and 100 priestly garments.
  5. Now the priests and the Levites, some of the people, the singers, the gatekeepers and the temple servants lived in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.
  1. 또 말 칠백삼십육 마리, 노새가 이백사십오 마리,
  2. 낙타가 사백삼십오 마리, 나귀가 육천칠백이십 마리 있었다.
  3. 각 가문 어른들 가운데서 예루살렘에 있는 야훼의 성전으로 돌아온 사람들은 하느님의 성전을 제자리에 세우는 데 쓸 자원예물을 바쳤다.
  4. 힘 자라는 대로 공사 금고에 바치니, 금이 육만 천 드라크마, 은이 오천 미나, 제복이 백 벌이나 되었다.
  5. 사제들과 레위인들과 일반 백성 가운데 일부가 예루살렘에 자리를 잡았고 합창대원들과 수위들과 성전 막일꾼들은 예루살렘에 딸린 촌락들에 자리를 잡았으며 일반 백성은 저희의 성읍에 가서 자리를 잡았다.
