- And you were dead in your trespasses and sins,
- in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.
- Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.
- But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
- even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

- 여러분도 전에는 죄와 잘못을 저질러서 죽었던 사람들입니다.
- 여러분이 죄에 얽매여 있던 때에는 이 세상 풍조를 따라 살았고 허공을 다스리는 세력의 두목이 지시하는 대로 살았으며 오늘날 하느님을 거역하는 자들을 조종하는 악령의 지시대로 살았습니다.
- 실상 우리도 다 그들과 같아서 전에는 본능적인 욕망을 따라서 육정에 끌려 살았던 사람들로서 본래 다른 사람들과 마찬가지로 하느님의 진노를 살 수밖에 없었던 것입니다.
- 그러나 한없이 자비로우신 하느님께서는 그 크신 사랑으로 우리를 사랑하셔서
- 잘못을 저지르고 죽었던 우리를 그리스도와 함께 다시 살려주셨습니다. 여러분은 이렇듯 은총으로 구원을 받았습니다.

- and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
- so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
- For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
- not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
- For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

- 하느님께서는 우리를 그리스도 예수와 함께 살리셔서 하늘에서도 한자리에 앉게 하여주셨습니다.
- 하느님께서는 당신의 은총이 얼마나 풍성한지를 앞으로 올 모든 세대에 보여주시려고 그리스도 예수를 통하여 이렇게 우리에게 자비를 베풀어주셨습니다.
- 여러분이 구원을 받은 것은 하느님의 은총을 입고 그리스도를 믿어서 된 것이지 여러분 자신의 힘으로 된 것이 아닙니다. 이 구원이야말로 하느님께서 주신 선물입니다.
- 이렇게 구원은 사람의 공로로 이루어지는 것이 아니기 때문에 아무도 자기 자랑을 할 수 없을 것입니다.
- 우리는 하느님의 작품입니다. 곧 하느님께서 미리 마련하신 대로 선한 생활을 하도록 그리스도 예수를 통해서 창조하신 작품입니다.

- Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called "Uncircumcision" by the so-called "Circumcision," which is performed in the flesh by human hands--
- remember that you were at that time separate from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
- But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
- For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall,
- by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace,

- 이방인으로 태어난 여러분, 지난 날을 생각해 보십시오. 여러분은 단지 몸에다 사람의 손으로 행하는 할례를 받은 소위 할례자들로부터 할례받지 않은 사람들이라는 말을 들었습니다.
- 그 때 여러분은 그리스도와는 아무 관계도 없었고 이스라엘 시민권도 없는 외국인으로서 약속의 계약에서 제외된 채 이 세상에서 희망도 하느님도 없이 살아온 사람들이었습니다.
- 이렇게 여러분이 전에는 하느님과 멀리 떨어져 있었지만 이제는 그리스도께서 피를 흘리심으로써 그리스도 예수로 말미암아 하느님과 가까워졌습니다.
- 그리스도야말로 우리의 평화이십니다. 그분은 자신의 몸을 바쳐서 유다인과 이방인이 서로 원수가 되어 갈리게 했던 담을 헐어버리시고 그들을 화해시켜 하나로 만드시고
- 율법 조문과 규정을 모두 폐지하셨습니다. 그리스도께서는 자신을 희생하여 유다인과 이방인을 하나의 새 민족으로 만들어 평화를 이룩하시고

- and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity.
- AND HE CAME AND PREACHED PEACE TO YOU WHO WERE FAR AWAY, AND PEACE TO THOSE WHO WERE NEAR;
- for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.
- So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household,
- having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone,

- 또 십자가에서 죽으심으로써 둘을 한 몸으로 만드셔서 하느님과 화해시키시고 원수되었던 모든 요소를 없이하셨습니다.
- 이렇게 그리스도께서는 세상에 오셔서 하느님과 멀리 떨어져 있던 여러분에게나 가까이 있던 유다인들에게나 다 같이 평화의 기쁜 소식을 전해 주셨습니다.
- 그래서 이방인 여러분과 우리 유다인들은 모두 그리스도로 말미암아 같은 성령을 받아 아버지께로 가까이 나아가게 되었습니다.
- 이제 여러분은 외국인도 아니고 나그네도 아닙니다. 성도들과 같은 한 시민이며 하느님의 한 가족입니다.
- 여러분이 건물이라면 그리스도께서는 그 건물의 가장 요긴한 모퉁잇돌이 되시며 사도들과 예언자들은 그 건물의 기초가 됩니다.

- in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord,
- in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.

- 온 건물은 이 모퉁잇돌을 중심으로 서로 연결되고 점점 커져서 주님의 거룩한 성전이 됩니다.
- 여러분도 이 모퉁잇돌을 중심으로 함께 세워져서 신령한 하느님의 집이 되는 것입니다.
