- For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it.
- For if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty,
- how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? After it was at the first spoken through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard,
- God also testifying with them, both by signs and wonders and by various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit according to His own will.
- For He did not subject to angels the world to come, concerning which we are speaking.

- 그러므로 우리는 들은 바를 더욱더 굳게 간직하여 바른 길에서 벗어나지 않도록 해야 하겠습니다.
- 천사들을 시켜서 하신 말씀도 효력이 있어서 그것을 어기거나 따르지 않는 자들은 모두 응분의 징벌을 받았는데
- 만일 우리가 이토록 값진 구원의 말씀을 소홀히 한다면 어떻게 징벌을 피할 수 있겠습니까? 이 구원의 소식은 주님께서 처음으로 전해 주신 것이며 그 말씀을 들은 사람들이 또한 우리에게 확증해 준 것입니다.
- 그리고 하느님께서도 표징과 놀라운 일과 여러 가지 기적을 나타내시고 또한 당신의 뜻을 따라 성령을 선물로 나누어주심으로써 그들의 증언을 뒷받침해 주셨습니다.
- 하느님께서는 우리가 지금 말하고 있는 장차 올 세상을 천사들의 지배 아래 두시지는 않습니다.

- But one has testified somewhere, saying, "WHAT IS MAN, THAT YOU REMEMBER HIM? OR THE SON OF MAN, THAT YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT HIM?
- "YOU HAVE MADE HIM FOR A LITTLE WHILE LOWER THAN THE ANGELS; YOU HAVE CROWNED HIM WITH GLORY AND HONOR, AND HAVE APPOINTED HIM OVER THE WORKS OF YOUR HANDS;
- YOU HAVE PUT ALL THINGS IN SUBJECTION UNDER HIS FEET " For in subjecting all things to him, He left nothing that is not subject to him But now we do not yet see all things subjected to him.
- But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.
- For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings.

- 성서에 어떤 이가 이렇게 증언한 대목이 있습니다. "인간이 무엇이기에 주님께서 그를 잊지 않으시며 사람의 아들이 무엇이기에 주님께서 돌보십니까?
- 주님은 그를 잠시 천사들보다 못하게 하셨으나 영광과 영예의 관을 씌우셨으며
- 만물을 그의 발 아래 복종시키셨습니다." 이렇게 만물을 그에게 복종시키셨다는 것은 그의 지배 아래 있지 않은 것은 하나도 없다는 뜻입니다. 그런데도 우리가 보기에는 아직도 만물이 다 그에게 복종하고 있지는 않습니다.
- 그러나 우리가 알다시피 예수께서는 죽음의 고통을 당하심으로써 잠시 동안 천사들보다 못하게 되셨다가 마침내 영광과 영예의 관을 받아 쓰셨습니다. 이렇게 예수께서 모든 사람을 위하여 죽음의 고통을 겪으신 것은 하느님의 은총의 소치입니다.
- 하느님은 만물을 창조하신 분이시고 만물은 그분을 위해서 있습니다. 그러므로 하느님께서 당신의 많은 자녀들이 영광에 참여할 수 있도록 그들의 구원의 창시자로 하여금 고난을 겪게 해서 완전하게 하신다는 것은 당연한 일이었습니다.

- For both He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one Father; for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren,
- saying, "I WILL PROCLAIM YOUR NAME TO MY BRETHREN, IN THE MIDST OF THE CONGREGATION I WILL SING YOUR PRAISE."
- And again, "I WILL PUT MY TRUST IN HIM " And again, "BEHOLD, I AND THE CHILDREN WHOM GOD HAS GIVEN ME."
- Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
- and might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives.

- 사람을 거룩하게 해주시는 분과 거룩하게 된 사람들은 모두 같은 근원에서 나왔습니다. 그래서 예수께서는 거리낌없이 그들을 형제라고 부르시고
- 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. "내가 당신의 이름을 내 형제들에게 선포하며 회중 가운데서 당신을 찬미하겠습니다."
- 또 "나는 그분을 신뢰하겠습니다." 하고 말씀하셨고 또 다시 "하느님께서 나에게 주신 자녀들이 나와 함께 여기 있습니다." 하고 말씀하셨습니다.
- 자녀들은 다같이 피와 살을 가지고 있으므로 예수께서도 그들과 같은 피와 살을 가지고 오셨다가 죽으심으로써 죽음의 세력을 잡은 자 곧 악마를 멸망시키시고
- 한평생 죽음의 공포에 싸여 살던 사람들을 해방시켜 주셨습니다.

- For assuredly He does not give help to angels, but He gives help to the descendant of Abraham.
- Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.
- For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.

- 예수께서는 천사들을 보살펴 주신 것이 아니라 분명히 아브라함의 후손들을 보살펴 주셨습니다.
- 그러므로 그분은 모든 점에서 당신의 형제들과 같아지셔야만 했습니다. 그래서 자비롭고 진실한 대사제로서 하느님을 섬길 수가 있었고 따라서 백성들의 죄를 없이 할 수 있었습니다.
- 그분은 친히 유혹을 받으시고 고난을 당하셨기 때문에 유혹을 받는 모든 사람을 도와주실 수 있으십니다.
