- Therefore, let us fear if, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you may seem to have come short of it.
- For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard.
- For we who have believed enter that rest, just as He has said, "AS I SWORE IN MY WRATH, THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST," although His works were finished from the foundation of the world.
- For He has said somewhere concerning the seventh day: "AND GOD RESTED ON THE SEVENTH DAY FROM ALL HIS WORKS";
- and again in this passage, "THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST."

- 하느님께서 당신의 안식처에 들어가게 해주시겠다는 약속이 살아 있으니 여러분 가운데 그 기회를 놓쳐버렸다고 생각하는 사람이 있어서는 안 되겠습니다.
- 우리도 그들과 마찬가지로 그 기쁜 소식을 듣지 않았습니까? 그들은 복음의 말씀을 듣고도 그것을 믿지 않았으므로 그 말씀이 그들에게 아무런 소용이 없었습니다.
- 이것은 하느님께서, "내가 노하여 맹세한 대로 그들은 결코 나의 안식처에 들어오지 못하리라."고 말씀하신 대로입니다. 그러나 우리는 믿었기 때문에 그 안식처에 들어가게 될 것입니다. 사실 하느님께서도 세상을 창조하셨을 때에 일을 다 마치시고 쉬셨습니다.
- 이것은 일곱째 날에 관하여 성서 어디엔가 "하느님께서는 당신의 모든 일을 마치시고 일곱째 날에 쉬셨다."고 기록된 말씀대로입니다.
- 다시 한 번 말하지만 "그들은 결코 나의 안식처에 들어오지 못하리라."고 하셨는데

- Therefore, since it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly had good news preached to them failed to enter because of disobedience,
- He again fixes a certain day, "Today," saying through David after so long a time just as has been said before, "TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS."
- For if Joshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that.
- So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God.
- For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His.

- 과연 그들은 먼저 그 기쁜 소식을 전해 듣고도 순종하지 않은 탓으로 그 안식을 누리지 못하였습니다. 그러나 다른 사람들이 안식을 누릴 기회는 아직도 남아 있습니다.
- 그래서 하느님께서는 오늘이라는 날을 다시 정하시고 오랜 세월이 지난 뒤에 앞서 인용한 대로 다윗을 시켜, "너희가 오늘 하느님의 음성을 듣거든 완악한 마음을 품지 마라." 하고 말씀하신 것입니다.
- 여호수아가 그들에게 안식을 주었다면 그 뒤에 하느님께서 또 다른 날이 있으리라고 말씀하시지는 않았을 것입니다.
- 그러므로 하느님의 백성에게는 아직도 참 안식이 그대로 남아 있는 것입니다.
- 하느님께서 당신의 일을 마치고 쉬신 것처럼 하느님의 안식처에 들어간 이도 그의 일손을 멈추고 쉬는 것입니다.

- Therefore let us be diligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall, through following the same example of disobedience.
- For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
- And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

- 그러니 우리도 그 안식을 누리도록 힘써야겠습니다. 옛사람들처럼 순종하지 않다가 낭패를 보아서야 되겠습니까?
- 하느님의 말씀은 살아 있고 힘이 있으며 어떤 쌍날칼보다도 더 날카롭습니다. 그래서 사람의 마음을 꿰뚫어 영혼과 정신을 갈라놓고 관절과 골수를 쪼개어 그 마음속에 품은 생각과 속셈을 드러냅니다.
- 피조물치고 하느님 앞에 드러나지 않는 것은 없습니다. 하느님의 눈앞에는 모든 것이 다 벌거숭이로 드러나게 마련입니다. 언젠가는 우리도 그분 앞에서 심판을 받아야 합니다.
