예레미야애가 3:1-5:22

 예레미야는 자비와 긍휼이 무한하신 하나님께 절망에 처한 백성들을 구원해 주시기를 간구했고, 유다 백성들과 지도자들에게 그들의 죄를 상기시켜 회개를 촉구하였다. 그리고 유다의 회복을 소망하며 하나님께서 구원해 주실 것을 호소하였다.
  
  선지자의 고통과 기도(3:1-3:66)    
 
  1. I am the man who has seen affliction Because of the rod of His wrath.
  2. He has driven me and made me walk In darkness and not in light.
  3. Surely against me He has turned His hand Repeatedly all the day.
  4. He has caused my flesh and my skin to waste away, He has broken my bones.
  5. He has besieged and encompassed me with bitterness and hardship.
  1. 노여워 때리시는 매를 맞아 온갖 고생을 다 겪은 사람,
  2. 이 몸을 주께서 끌어내시어 칠흙 같은 어둠 속을 헤매게 하시는구나.
  3. 날이면 날마다 이 몸만 내려치시는구나.
  4. 뼈에 가죽만 남았는데, 뼈마저 부서뜨리시고
  5. 돌아가며 성을 쌓아 가두시고 정수리에 저주를 퍼부으시어
  1. In dark places He has made me dwell, Like those who have long been dead.
  2. He has walled me in so that I cannot go out; He has made my chain heavy.
  3. Even when I cry out and call for help, He shuts out my prayer.
  4. He has blocked my ways with hewn stone; He has made my paths crooked.
  5. He is to me like a bear lying in wait, Like a lion in secret places.
  1. 먼 옛날에 죽은 사람처럼 어두운 곳에 처넣어두셨구나.
  2. 무거운 사슬로 묶어 울 안에 가두셨으니 나 어찌 빠져 나갈 수 있겠는가.
  3. 아무리 살려달라고 울부짖어도 주께서는 이 간구마저 물리치시고,
  4. 도리어 돌담을 쌓아 앞길을 가로막으시는구나.
  5. 주께서 곰처럼, 숨어 엎드린 사자처럼 나를 노리시며
  1. He has turned aside my ways and torn me to pieces; He has made me desolate.
  2. He bent His bow And set me as a target for the arrow.
  3. He made the arrows of His quiver To enter into my inward parts.
  4. I have become a laughingstock to all my people, Their mocking song all the day.
  5. He has filled me with bitterness, He has made me drunk with wormwood.
  1. 앞길에 가시덤불을 우거지게 하여 내 몸을 갈가리 찢게 하시고,
  2. 나를 과녁으로 삼아 화살을 메워 쏘시는구나.
  3. 당신의 살통에서 뽑아 쏘시는 화살이 내장에 박혀
  4. 날마다 뭇 사람에게 웃음거리, 놀림감이 되었다.
  5. 쓴 풀만 먹이시고, 소태즙만 마시게 하셨다.
  1. He has broken my teeth with gravel; He has made me cower in the dust.
  2. My soul has been rejected from peace; I have forgotten happiness.
  3. So I say, "My strength has perished, And so has my hope from the LORD."
  4. Remember my affliction and my wandering, the wormwood and bitterness.
  5. Surely my soul remembers And is bowed down within me.
  1. 주께서 돌멩이로 내 이를 부수시고 나를 땅에다 짓밟으시니
  2. 나는 언제 행복하였던가, 나의 넋은 평안을 잃었는데.
  3. "나의 영광은 사라졌고, 주 야훼께 바라던 것이 모두 물거품이 되었다." 하며
  4. 쫓기는 이 처참한 신세 생각만 해도 소태를 먹은 듯 독약을 마신 듯합니다.
  5. 주여, 이 몸 잊지 마시고, 굽어살펴 주십시오.
  1. This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope.
  2. The LORD'S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail.
  3. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.
  4. "The LORD is my portion," says my soul, "Therefore I have hope in Him."
  5. The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, To the person who seeks Him.
  1. 이것을 마음에 새기며 두고두고 기다리겠습니다.
  2. 주 야훼의 사랑 다함 없고 그 자비 가실 줄 몰라라.
  3. 그 사랑, 그 자비 아침마다 새롭고 그 신실하심 그지없어라.
  4. "나의 몫은 곧 야훼시라." 속으로 다짐하며 이 몸은 주를 기다리리라.
  5. 야훼께서는 당신을 바라며 찾는 사람에게 사랑을 베푸신다.
  1. It is good that he waits silently For the salvation of the LORD.
  2. It is good for a man that he should bear The yoke in his youth.
  3. Let him sit alone and be silent Since He has laid it on him.
  4. Let him put his mouth in the dust, Perhaps there is hope.
  5. Let him give his cheek to the smiter, Let him be filled with reproach.
  1. 야훼께서 건져주시기를 조용히 기다리는 것이 좋은 일이다.
  2. 젊어서 멍에를 메는 것이 좋은 일이다.
  3. 야훼께서 메우신 것이니 잠자코 있어라.
  4. 입을 땅에 대고 있어라. 행여 앞날이 트일지 아느냐?
  5. 누가 때리거든 뺨을 돌려대어라. 누가 욕하거든 달게 받아라.
  1. For the Lord will not reject forever,
  2. For if He causes grief, Then He will have compassion According to His abundant lovingkindness.
  3. For He does not afflict willingly Or grieve the sons of men.
  4. To crush under His feet All the prisoners of the land,
  5. To deprive a man of justice In the presence of the Most High,
  1. 주께서는 마냥 내버려두시지는 않으신다.
  2. 주께서는 사랑이 그지없으시어 심하게 벌하시다가도 불쌍히 여기신다.
  3. 사람이 미워서 괴롭히거나 벌하지는 않으신다.
  4. 남의 나라에서 붙잡아온 포로라고 마구 짓밟거나
  5. 그지없이 높으신 하느님 앞에서 남의 인권을 짓밟거나,
  1. To defraud a man in his lawsuit-- Of these things the Lord does not approve.
  2. Who is there who speaks and it comes to pass, Unless the Lord has commanded it?
  3. Is it not from the mouth of the Most High That both good and ill go forth?
  4. Why should any living mortal, or any man, Offer complaint in view of his sins?
  5. Let us examine and probe our ways, And let us return to the LORD.
  1. 억울한 재판을 하는 것을 주께서 보지 못하시겠느냐?
  2. 사람이 말한다고 해서 주께서 명령하지도 않으신 일이 되겠느냐?
  3. 좋은 일이건 궂은 일이건 그지없이 높으신 하느님의 말씀 없이 되는 일은 없다.
  4. 제가 잘못해 놓고도 목숨이 붙어 있다고 넋두리하랴?
  5. 우리 모두 살아온 길을 돌이켜보고 야훼께 돌아가자.
  1. We lift up our heart and hands Toward God in heaven;
  2. We have transgressed and rebelled, You have not pardoned.
  3. You have covered Yourself with anger And pursued us; You have slain and have not spared.
  4. You have covered Yourself with a cloud So that no prayer can pass through.
  5. You have made us mere offscouring and refuse In the midst of the peoples.
  1. 하늘에 계시는 하느님께 손들고 마음 바쳐 기도드리자.
  2. 우리가 거역하여 지은 죄를 주께서는 용서하지 않으셨습니다.
  3. 진노하시고 우리를 뒤쫓아오셔서 사정없이 잡아죽이셨습니다.
  4. 구름 속에 몸을 감추고 계셔서 우리의 기도도 다다르지 않습니다.
  5. 주께서는 우리를 만국 가운데서 쓰레기로, 거름더미로 만드셨습니다.
  1. All our enemies have opened their mouths against us.
  2. Panic and pitfall have befallen us, Devastation and destruction;
  3. My eyes run down with streams of water Because of the destruction of the daughter of my people.
  4. My eyes pour down unceasingly, Without stopping,
  5. Until the LORD looks down And sees from heaven.
  1. 원수들은 온통 입을 벌리고 덤벼들었습니다.
  2. 우리는 무서운 함정에 빠져 박살당하여 멸망했습니다.
  3. 이 백성의 수도가 멸망하는 것을 보니 내 눈에서 눈물이 비오듯합니다.
  4. 걷잡을 길 없이 쏟아지는 눈물은 그칠 줄을 모릅니다.
  5. 야훼께서 하늘에서 굽어보실 때까지 흐를 것입니다.
  1. My eyes bring pain to my soul Because of all the daughters of my city.
  2. My enemies without cause Hunted me down like a bird;
  3. They have silenced me in the pit And have placed a stone on me.
  4. Waters flowed over my head; I said, "I am cut off!"
  5. I called on Your name, O LORD, Out of the lowest pit.
  1. 나의 성읍에서 터져 나오는 울음 소리에 눈알이 쓰라려 견딜 수가 없습니다.
  2. 사냥꾼에게 쫓기는 참새처럼 이 몸은 애매하게 원수에게 쫓기었습니다.
  3. 원수들은 이 몸을 산 채로 함정에 처넣고 돌을 퍼부었습니다.
  4. 물 밖으로 머리를 내밀 길이 없어 "이젠 죽었구나." 하다가
  5. 야훼여, 그 깊은 구렁에서 주의 이름을 불렀습니다.
  1. You have heard my voice, "Do not hide Your ear from my prayer for relief, From my cry for help."
  2. You drew near when I called on You; You said, "Do not fear!"
  3. O Lord, You have pleaded my soul's cause; You have redeemed my life.
  4. O LORD, You have seen my oppression; Judge my case.
  5. You have seen all their vengeance, All their schemes against me.
  1. 살려달라고 울부짖는 소리에 귀를 막지 마시라고 하였더니 주께서는 제 호소를 들어주셨습니다.
  2. 이 몸이 부르짖을 때 주께서는 가까이 오셔서 걱정하지 말라고 말씀해 주셨습니다.
  3. 주여, 주께서는 제 송사를 옳게 받아들이시어 목숨을 구해 주셨습니다.
  4. 야훼여, 주께서는 이 몸의 억울함을 굽어보시고 바른 판결을 내려주셨습니다.
  5. 이 몸을 잡으려는 흉계를 주께서 속속들이 살피시고
  1. You have heard their reproach, O LORD, All their schemes against me.
  2. The lips of my assailants and their whispering Are against me all day long.
  3. Look on their sitting and their rising; I am their mocking song.
  4. You will recompense them, O LORD, According to the work of their hands.
  5. You will give them hardness of heart, Your curse will be on them.
  1. 야훼여, 그들이 어떤 생각으로 제게 악담을 퍼붓는지 주께서는 알아들으셨습니다.
  2. 적들은 날마다 입만 열면 이 몸을 비방합니다.
  3. 보십시오. 원수들은 자나깨나 이 몸을 놀려대기만 합니다.
  4. 야훼여, 이 원수를 갚아주십시오. 저들의 행실대로 갚아주십시오.
  5. 그들이 고집을 부리게 하시고 그러다가 저주를 받게 하여주십시오.
  1. You will pursue them in anger and destroy them From under the heavens of the LORD!
  1. 노여움을 풀지 마시고 그들을 뒤쫓아가 주의 하늘 아래 그들의 자취도 남기지 마십시오.
 
  시온을 향한 애가(4:1-4:22)    
 
  1. How dark the gold has become, How the pure gold has changed! The sacred stones are poured out At the corner of every street.
  2. The precious sons of Zion, Weighed against fine gold, How they are regarded as earthen jars, The work of a potter's hands!
  3. Even jackals offer the breast, They nurse their young; But the daughter of my people has become cruel Like ostriches in the wilderness.
  4. The tongue of the infant cleaves To the roof of its mouth because of thirst; The little ones ask for bread, But no one breaks it for them.
  5. Those who ate delicacies Are desolate in the streets; Those reared in purple Embrace ash pits.
  1. 아, 황금은 빛을 잃고, 순금은 제 빛을 찾을 길이 없구나. 성전의 헐린 돌이 거리마다 널려 있다.
  2. 순금만큼이나 귀하던 시온의 아들들이 어쩌다가 토기장이 손에 빚어지는 질그릇처럼 되었는가!
  3. 여우도 새끼에게 젖을 내어 빨리는데 내 백성의 수도는 사막의 타조처럼 인정도 없구나.
  4. 젖먹이들은 목말라 혀가 입천장에 붙고, 어린것들은 먹을 것을 찾는데 주는 이가 없다.
  5. 거친 음식은 입에 대지도 않던 자들이 길바닥에 쓰러져 가는구나. 비단옷이 아니면 몸에 걸치지도 않던 자들이 쓰레기 더미에서 뒹구는 신세가 되었구나.
  1. For the iniquity of the daughter of my people Is greater than the sin of Sodom, Which was overthrown as in a moment, And no hands were turned toward her.
  2. Her consecrated ones were purer than snow, They were whiter than milk; They were more ruddy in body than corals, Their polishing was like lapis lazuli.
  3. Their appearance is blacker than soot, They are not recognized in the streets; Their skin is shriveled on their bones, It is withered, it has become like wood.
  4. Better are those slain with the sword Than those slain with hunger; For they pine away, being stricken For lack of the fruits of the field.
  5. The hands of compassionate women Boiled their own children; They became food for them Because of the destruction of the daughter of my people.
  1. 소돔은 사람이 손도 대지 않았는데 삽시간에 망하더니 내 백성의 수도가 저지른 악은 소돔보다도 크구나.
  2. 젊은이들은 눈보다 정갈하고 우유보다 희더니, 살갗은 산호보다도 붉고 몸매는 청옥처럼 수려하더니,
  3. 얼굴은 검댕처럼 검게 되고 살가죽은 고목처럼 뼈에 달라붙어 이젠 아무도 알아보지 못하게 되었구나.
  4. 낟알은 구경도 할 수 없어, 기진하여 허덕이다가 굶어 죽느니 차라리 칼에 맞아 죽는 편이 나은 것을!
  5. 내 백성의 수도가 망하던 날에는 먹을 것이 없어 자애로운 여인도 제 자식을 잡아 끓였구나.
  1. The LORD has accomplished His wrath, He has poured out His fierce anger; And He has kindled a fire in Zion Which has consumed its foundations.
  2. The kings of the earth did not believe, Nor did any of the inhabitants of the world, That the adversary and the enemy Could enter the gates of Jerusalem.
  3. Because of the sins of her prophets And the iniquities of her priests, Who have shed in her midst The blood of the righteous;
  4. They wandered, blind, in the streets; They were defiled with blood So that no one could touch their garments.
  5. "Depart! Unclean!" they cried of themselves "Depart, depart, do not touch!" So they fled and wandered; Men among the nations said, "They shall not continue to dwell with us."
  1. 야훼께서는 화나시는 대로 치솟는 진노를 퍼부으시어 시온에 불을 지르시고 그 성터마저 다 살라버리셨다.
  2. 예루살렘 성문으로 원수들이 들어올 줄을, 세상 어느 임금이 믿었으랴! 땅 위에 사는 누가 믿었으랴!
  3. 성 안에서 죄없는 사람의 피를 흘린 예언자들의 죄, 사제들의 악 때문이 아니었던가!
  4. 피투성이가 되어 소경처럼 거리를 헤매자 사람들이 그 옷깃에도 스치우기 싫어,
  5. "더러운 것들, 썩 물러가거라. 저리 가거라, 저리 가거라, 가까이 오지 마라." 하고 소리치는 바람에 몸을 피해 떠돌아다니며 이 나라 저 나라에 가서 살아보려 해도 몸붙일 데가 없었다.
  1. The presence of the LORD has scattered them, He will not continue to regard them; They did not honor the priests, They did not favor the elders.
  2. Yet our eyes failed, Looking for help was useless; In our watching we have watched For a nation that could not save.
  3. They hunted our steps So that we could not walk in our streets; Our end drew near, Our days were finished For our end had come.
  4. Our pursuers were swifter Than the eagles of the sky; They chased us on the mountains, They waited in ambush for us in the wilderness.
  5. The breath of our nostrils, the LORD'S anointed, Was captured in their pits, Of whom we had said, "Under his shadow We shall live among the nations."
  1. 야훼께서는 당신 앞에서 쫓겨가는 자들을 다시는 돌보지 않으셨다. 사제라고 해서 달리 보아주시지 아니하시고 노인들이라고 불쌍히 여기시지도 않으셨다.
  2. 행여 누가 도와주려나 하고 눈이 빠지게 기다리다가 우리는 지쳤다. 구해 주지도 못할 나라를 부질없이 기다리기만 하였다.
  3. 길목마다 지키는 자들이 있어 한길도 우리는 마음놓고 다니지 못했다. 끝날은 눈앞에 다가왔다. 우리의 날수가 찼다. 드디어 끝날은 왔구나.
  4. 우리를 쫓는 자, 하늘의 솔개보다 빨라 산등성이에서는 끈질기게 따라오고 광야에서는 덮치려고 숨어서 노리고 있다.
  5. 야훼께서 기름부어 세우신 왕, 우리의 숨결, 만국 가운데서 그 그늘 아래 깃들여 살리라 했는데 그마저 원수들의 함정에 빠져 잡히고 말았구나.
  1. Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, Who dwells in the land of Uz; But the cup will come around to you as well, You will become drunk and make yourself naked.
  2. The punishment of your iniquity has been completed, O daughter of Zion; He will exile you no longer But He will punish your iniquity, O daughter of Edom; He will expose your sins!
  1. 우스 땅에 자리한 에돔의 수도야, 좋다고 날뛰어 보아라. 너에게도 잔을 내리실 것이다. 너도 취하면 벌거숭이가 될 것이다.
  2. 수도 시온아, 네 벌은 이제 끝났다. 다시는 사로잡혀 가는 일 없으리라. 에돔의 수도야, 주께서 너에게 벌을 내리시리라. 네 죄의 대가로 사로잡혀 가게 하시리라.
 
  회복을 구하는 기도(5:1-5:22)    
 
  1. Remember, O LORD, what has befallen us; Look, and see our reproach!
  2. Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers, Our houses to aliens.
  3. We have become orphans without a father, Our mothers are like widows.
  4. We have to pay for our drinking water, Our wood comes to us at a price.
  5. Our pursuers are at our necks; We are worn out, there is no rest for us.
  1. 야훼여 우리가 이런 형편을 당했는데도 기억해 주지 않으시겠습니까? 우리가 이렇게 욕을 보는데도 굽어살피지 않으시겠습니까?
  2. 우리의 땅은 남의 손에 넘어갔습니다. 우리의 집은 이방인의 손에 넘어갔습니다.
  3. 우리는 아비 없는 고아가 되었습니다. 우리의 어미는 과부가 되었습니다.
  4. 자기의 물을 돈 내고 얻어 마시며, 자기의 나무도 값을 내고 들이게 되었습니다.
  5. 목에 멍에를 걸고 허덕이며 숨돌릴 겨를도 없이 지쳤습니다.
  1. We have submitted to Egypt and Assyria to get enough bread.
  2. Our fathers sinned, and are no more; It is we who have borne their iniquities.
  3. Slaves rule over us; There is no one to deliver us from their hand.
  4. We get our bread at the risk of our lives Because of the sword in the wilderness.
  5. Our skin has become as hot as an oven, Because of the burning heat of famine.
  1. 우리는 입에 풀칠이나 하려고 이집트에 손을 내밀었고, 아시리아에 손을 내밀었습니다.
  2. 죄지은 선조들은 간 데 없는데 그 벌은 우리가 떠맡게 되었습니다.
  3. 하인들이 우리를 부리게 되었는데 그 손에서 빼내어 줄 이도 없습니다.
  4. 사막으로부터 적들이 칼을 휘두르며 쳐들어오기 때문에 죽음을 무릅쓰고 곡식을 거두어들이게 되었습니다.
  5. 굶주림 끝에 우리의 살갗은 불길에 그슬린 듯 까맣게 되었습니다.
  1. They ravished the women in Zion, The virgins in the cities of Judah.
  2. Princes were hung by their hands; Elders were not respected.
  3. Young men worked at the grinding mill, And youths stumbled under loads of wood.
  4. Elders are gone from the gate, Young men from their music.
  5. The joy of our hearts has ceased; Our dancing has been turned into mourning.
  1. 시온에서 여인들이 겁탈을 당했습니다. 유다 성읍들에서 처녀들이 짓밟혔습니다.
  2. 왕족들은 손이 묶여 매달리고 장로들도 사정없이 당했습니다.
  3. 젊은이들은 맷돌이나 돌리는 신세가 되었고, 아이들은 나무를 져 나르다가 쓰러집니다.
  4. 장로들은 성문 앞 윗자리에 나가 앉지 못하고 젊은이들은 수금을 뜯지 못하게 되었습니다.
  5. 가슴에서는 즐거움이 사라져 춤 대신에 울음이 터져 나왔습니다.
  1. The crown has fallen from our head; Woe to us, for we have sinned!
  2. Because of this our heart is faint, Because of these things our eyes are dim;
  3. Because of Mount Zion which lies desolate, Foxes prowl in it.
  4. You, O LORD, rule forever; Your throne is from generation to generation.
  5. Why do You forget us forever? Why do You forsake us so long?
  1. 머리에서는 화관이 떨어졌습니다. 스스로의 죄 때문에 우리는 망했습니다.
  2. 그래서 우리의 마음은 쓰라리고 우리의 눈앞은 캄캄합니다.
  3. 시온 산은 여우들이나 우글거리는 쑥밭이 되었습니다.
  4. 영원히 다스리실 야훼, 억만대에 이르도록 옥좌에 앉으실 주여,
  5. 어찌하여 우리를 영영 잊으시렵니까? 어찌하여 우리를 영영 버리시렵니까?
  1. Restore us to You, O LORD, that we may be restored; Renew our days as of old,
  2. Unless You have utterly rejected us And are exceedingly angry with us.
  1. 야훼여, 주께 돌아가도록 우리를 돌이켜 세워주십시오. 우리를 예전처럼 잘살게 해주십시오.
  2. 주께서는 아무리 화가 나시어도 우리를 아주 잘라버리실 수는 없지 않습니까?
