- "To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: The One who holds the seven stars in His right hand, the One who walks among the seven golden lampstands, says this:
- 'I know your deeds and your toil and perseverance, and that you cannot tolerate evil men, and you put to the test those who call themselves apostles, and they are not, and you found them to be false;
- and you have perseverance and have endured for My name's sake, and have not grown weary.
- 'But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.
- 'Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place--unless you repent.

- 에페소 교회 천사에게 이 글을 써서 보내어라. 오른손에 일곱 별을 쥐시고 일곱 황금등경 사이를 거니시는 분이 말씀하신다.
- '나는 네가 한 일과 네 수고와 인내를 잘 알고 있다. 또 네가 악한 자들을 용납할 수 없었으며 사도가 아니면서 사도를 사칭하는 자들을 시험하여 그들의 허위를 가려낸 일도 잘 알고 있다.
- 너는 잘 참고 내 이름을 위해서 견디어냈으며 낙심하는 일이 없었다.
- 그러나 너에게 나무랄 것이 한 가지 있다. 그것은 네가 처음에 지녔던 사랑을 버린 것이다.
- 그러므로 네가 어디에서 빗나갔는지를 생각하여 뉘우치고, 처음에 하던 일들을 다시 하여라. 만일 그렇지 않고 뉘우치지 않으면 내가 가서 너의 등경을 그 자리에서 치워버리겠다.

- 그러나 네가 잘하는 일이 한 가지 있다. 너는 니골라오파의 소행을 미워하고 있다. 나도 그것을 미워한다.
- 귀 있는 자는 성령께서 여러 교회에 하시는 말씀을 들어야 한다. 나는 승리하는 자들에게 하느님의 낙원에 있는 생명나무의 열매를 먹게 하겠다.'
- 또 스미르나 교회의 천사에게 이 글을 써서 보내어라. 처음이고 마지막이며 죽었었지만 살아 계신 분이 말씀하신다.
- '나는 네가 겪은 환난과 궁핍을 잘 알고 있다. 그러나 사실 너는 부요하다. 네가 유다인으로 자칭하는 자들에게 비방을 당하고 있는 것도 나는 잘 알고 있다. 그러나 그들은 유다인이 아니라 사탄의 무리이다.
- 네가 장차 당할 고통을 조금도 두려워하지 마라. 이제 악마가 너희를 시험하기 위하여 너희 중 몇 사람을 감옥에 가두려 하고 있다. 너희는 열흘 동안 환난을 당하게 될 것이다. 그러나 너는 죽기까지 충성을 다하여라. 그러면 내가 생명의 월계관을 너에게 씌워주겠다.

- 'He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches He who overcomes will not be hurt by the second death.'
- "And to the angel of the church in Pergamum write: The One who has the sharp two-edged sword says this:
- 'I know where you dwell, where Satan's throne is; and you hold fast My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days of Antipas, My witness, My faithful one, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.
- 'But I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold the teaching of Balaam, who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit acts of immorality.
- 'So you also have some who in the same way hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans.

- 귀 있는 자는 성령께서 여러 교회에 하시는 말씀을 들어야 한다. 승리하는 자는 결코 두 번째 죽음의 화를 입지 않을 것이다.'
- 베르가모 교회의 천사에게 이 글을 써서 보내어라. 날카로운 쌍날칼을 가지신 분이 말씀하신다.
- '나는 네가 어디에 살고 있는지 잘 알고 있다. 그 곳은 사탄의 왕좌가 있는 곳이다. 그러나 너는 내 이름을 굳건히 믿고 있다. 또 나의 진실한 증인 안디바스가 사탄이 살고 있는 그 곳에서 죽임을 당하던 날에도 너는 나에 대한 믿음을 저버리지 않았다.
- 그러나 나는 너에게 몇 가지 나무랄 것이 있다. 너희 중에는 발람의 가르침을 따르는 자들이 있다. 발람은 발락을 사주해서 이스라엘 자손을 죄짓게 하였고 우상에게 바쳤던 제물을 먹게 하였으며 음란한 짓을 하게 하였던 자다.
- 또 너희 중에도 니골라오파의 가르침을 따르는 자들이 있다.

- 'Therefore repent; or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of My mouth.
- 'He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches To him who overcomes, to him I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows but he who receives it.'

- 그러므로 뉘우쳐라. 만일 뉘우치지 않으면 내가 속히 너에게 가서 내 입에서 나오는 칼을 가지고 그들과 싸우겠다.
- 귀 있는 자는 성령께서 여러 교회에 하시는 말씀을 들어야 한다. 승리하는 사람에게는 감추어둔 만나를 주겠고 또 흰 돌도 주겠다. 그 돌 위에는 새로운 이름이 적혀 있는데, 그 이름은 그 돌을 받는 사람밖에는 아무도 알지 못한다.'
