신명기 17:1-19:14

 모세는 백성들에게 우상 숭배자에 대한 처벌과 재판, 왕으로 세움받은 자의 행실에 관한 규정을 지시해 주었다. 그리고 기업을 분배받지 못하는 레위 지파에게는 하나님께서 친히 기업이 되신다는 것을 밝히고, 이방 종교의 영매나 복술자를 용납하지 말고 하나님께서 보내실 선지자를 청종할 것을 명했다. 또한 과실 치사를 범한 자들이 피할 도피성을 택정하고 토지의 경계표를 옮기지 말 것을 명했다.
  
  재판과 왕에 대한 규례(17:1-17:20)    
 
  1. "You shall not sacrifice to the LORD your God an ox or a sheep which has a blemish or any defect, for that is a detestable thing to the LORD your God.
  2. "If there is found in your midst, in any of your towns, which the LORD your God is giving you, a man or a woman who does what is evil in the sight of the LORD your God, by transgressing His covenant,
  3. and has gone and served other gods and worshiped them, or the sun or the moon or any of the heavenly host, which I have not commanded,
  4. and if it is told you and you have heard of it, then you shall inquire thoroughly. Behold, if it is true and the thing certain that this detestable thing has been done in Israel,
  5. then you shall bring out that man or that woman who has done this evil deed to your gates, that is, the man or the woman, and you shall stone them to death.
  1. '여러분은 흠이 있는 소나 양을 여러분의 하나님 여호와께 드리지 마십시오. 여호와께서는 그런 것을 미워하십니다.
  2. 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서 주신 성에서 어떤 남자나 여자가 여호와의 계약을 어기고 내가 명령하지 않은 다른 신이나 해와 달과 별을 섬기고 절하므로 악을 행하는 자가 있다는 소문이 들리면
  3. (2절과 같음)
  4. 여러분은 그 일을 자세히 조사해 보고 만일 그런 더러운 일이 이스라엘 백성 가운데 있었다는 것이 사실로 밝혀지면
  5. 여러분은 그런 사람을 성 밖으로 끌어 내어 돌로 쳐죽이십시오.
  1. "On the evidence of two witnesses or three witnesses, he who is to die shall be put to death; he shall not be put to death on the evidence of one witness.
  2. "The hand of the witnesses shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people So you shall purge the evil from your midst.
  3. "If any case is too difficult for you to decide, between one kind of homicide or another, between one kind of lawsuit or another, and between one kind of assault or another, being cases of dispute in your courts, then you shall arise and go up to the place which the LORD your God chooses.
  4. "So you shall come to the Levitical priest or the judge who is in office in those days, and you shall inquire of them and they will declare to you the verdict in the case.
  5. "You shall do according to the terms of the verdict which they declare to you from that place which the LORD chooses; and you shall be careful to observe according to all that they teach you.
  1. 그러나 죽일 때는 적어도 두 사람 이상의 증인이 있어야 하며 한 사람의 증인만으로는 죽일 수 없습니다.
  2. 그리고 증인이 먼저 돌을 들어 치고 그 다음에 모든 군중이 돌로 치도록 하십시오. 여러분은 이렇게 하여 여러분 가운데 그런 악을 제거해야 합니다.

  5. 여러분은 그들의 판결에 그대로 따르고 그들이 지시한 것을 조금도 어기지 마십시오.
  1. "According to the terms of the law which they teach you, and according to the verdict which they tell you, you shall do; you shall not turn aside from the word which they declare to you, to the right or the left.
  2. "The man who acts presumptuously by not listening to the priest who stands there to serve the LORD your God, nor to the judge, that man shall die; thus you shall purge the evil from Israel.
  3. "Then all the people will hear and be afraid, and will not act presumptuously again.
  4. "When you enter the land which the LORD your God gives you, and you possess it and live in it, and you say, 'I will set a king over me like all the nations who are around me,'
  5. you shall surely set a king over you whom the LORD your God chooses, one from among your countrymen you shall set as king over yourselves; you may not put a foreigner over yourselves who is not your countryman.

  2. 만일 어떤 사람이 여러분의 하나님 여호와를 섬기는 제사장이나 재판관의 판결을 무시하고 복종하지 않으면 여러분은 그를 처형하여 이스라엘에서 다시는 그런 일이 없도록 하십시오.
  3. 그러면 모든 사람들이 그것을 듣고 두려워하여 두 번 다시 그런 짓을 하지 않을 것입니다.
  4. 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서 여러분에게 주신 땅을 점령하여 거기서 살게 될 때 여러분의 주변 나라들처럼 여러분도 왕을 원한다면
  5. 반드시 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서 택하신 사람을 왕으로 세우십시오. 그 왕은 반드시 이스라엘 사람이어야 하며 외국인이어서는 안 됩니다.
  1. "Moreover, he shall not multiply horses for himself, nor shall he cause the people to return to Egypt to multiply horses, since the LORD has said to you, 'You shall never again return that way.'
  2. "He shall not multiply wives for himself, or else his heart will turn away; nor shall he greatly increase silver and gold for himself.
  3. "Now it shall come about when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, he shall write for himself a copy of this law on a scroll in the presence of the Levitical priests.
  4. "It shall be with him and he shall read it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, by carefully observing all the words of this law and these statutes,
  5. that his heart may not be lifted up above his countrymen and that he may not turn aside from the commandment, to the right or the left, so that he and his sons may continue long in his kingdom in the midst of Israel.
  1. 왕은 말을 많이 소유해서는 안 되며 말을 사려고 백성을 이집트로 보내서도 안 됩니다. 이것은 여호와께서 여러분에게 다시는 그리로 돌아가지 말라고 말씀하셨기 때문입니다.
  2. 왕은 또 아내를 많이 두어서는 안 됩니다. 그렇게 되면 그 마음이 여호와를 떠나게 될 것입니다. 그리고 그는 자기를 위해 은과 금을 많이 쌓아 두어서도 안 됩니다.
  3. 누구든지 왕위에 오르는 사람은 레위 지파의 제사장들이 보관하고 있는 율법서를 베껴서

  레위인과 선지자(18:1-18:22)    
 
  1. "The Levitical priests, the whole tribe of Levi, shall have no portion or inheritance with Israel; they shall eat the LORD'S offerings by fire and His portion.
  2. "They shall have no inheritance among their countrymen; the LORD is their inheritance, as He promised them.
  3. "Now this shall be the priests' due from the people, from those who offer a sacrifice, either an ox or a sheep, of which they shall give to the priest the shoulder and the two cheeks and the stomach.
  4. "You shall give him the first fruits of your grain, your new wine, and your oil, and the first shearing of your sheep.
  5. "For the LORD your God has chosen him and his sons from all your tribes, to stand and serve in the name of the LORD forever.
  1. '제사장을 포함한 레위 지파는 이스라엘 땅에서 분배받을 땅이나 재산이 없으므로 백성들이 여호와께 바치는 제물과 예물을 먹고 살게 될 것입니다.
  2. 그들이 다른 지파와는 달리 땅을 분배받지 않는 것은 여호와께서 그들에게 약속하신 대로 여호와 자신이 그들의 재산이 되시기 때문입니다.
  3. 여호와께 바쳐진 제물이 소든 양이든 그 앞다리와 턱과 위는 제사장의 몫입니다.
  4. 그 외에 여러분이 여호와께 예물로 바치는 첫 곡식과 처음 짠 포도주와 감람기름과 처음 깎은 양털도 제사장에게 주십시오.
  5. 이것은 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서 모든 지파 가운데 레위 지파를 택하여 대대로 여호와를 섬기게 하셨기 때문입니다.
  1. "Now if a Levite comes from any of your towns throughout Israel where he resides, and comes whenever he desires to the place which the LORD chooses,
  2. then he shall serve in the name of the LORD his God, like all his fellow Levites who stand there before the LORD.
  3. "They shall eat equal portions, except what they receive from the sale of their fathers' estates.
  4. "When you enter the land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall not learn to imitate the detestable things of those nations.
  5. "There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer,
  1. 레위인은 이스라엘의 어느 성에 살든지 자기만 원한다면 언제든지 그가 사는 곳을 떠나 여호와께서 택하신 예배처로 가서
  2. 그 곳의 다른 레위인들처럼 그의 하나님 여호와를 섬길 수 있습니다.
  3. 그가 음식으로 받을 몫은 그 곳의 다른 레위인들과 동일하며 자기 소유물을 판 돈은 그가 개인적으로 가질 수 있습니다.

  1. or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead.
  2. "For whoever does these things is detestable to the LORD; and because of these detestable things the LORD your God will drive them out before you.
  3. "You shall be blameless before the LORD your God.
  4. "For those nations, which you shall dispossess, listen to those who practice witchcraft and to diviners, but as for you, the LORD your God has not allowed you to do so.
  5. "The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your countrymen, you shall listen to him.
  1. 주문을 외우거나 영매나 강신술을 행하거나 죽은 사람의 혼을 불러오는 짓을 해서는 안 됩니다.
  2. 이런 짓을 하는 자를 여호와께서는 미워하십니다. 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서 이방 민족들을 여러분 앞에서 쫓아내시는 것도 그들이 바로 이런 짓을 하기 때문입니다.
  3. 여러분은 여러분의 하나님 여호와 앞에서 흠 없이 살아야 합니다.'
  4. 여러분이 쫓아낼 민족들은 점치고 예언하는 자들의 말을 듣지만 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서는 여러분이 그렇게 하는 것을 용납하지 않으십니다.
  5. 여호와께서는 여러분을 위해 여러분의 동족 가운데서 나와 같은 예언자 한 사람을 세우실 것입니다. 여러분은 그의 말에 순종해야 합니다.
  1. "This is according to all that you asked of the LORD your God in Horeb on the day of the assembly, saying, 'Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, let me not see this great fire anymore, or I will die.'
  2. "The LORD said to me, 'They have spoken well.
  3. 'I will raise up a prophet from among their countrymen like you, and I will put My words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him.
  4. 'It shall come about that whoever will not listen to My words which he shall speak in My name, I Myself will require it of him.
  5. 'But the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously in My name which I have not commanded him to speak, or which he speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.'
  1. 이것은 여러분이 시내산에 모이던 날에 여러분이 직접 여호와께 구한 것입니다. 그때 여러분은 죽을까봐 두려워서 다시는 여러분의 하나님 여호와의 음성을 듣지 않게 하고 그 무서운 불을 보지 않게 해 달라고 간청하였습니다.
  2. 그러자 여호와께서는 나에게 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. '그들의 말이 옳다.
  3. 내가 그들 가운데 너와 같은 예언자 한사람을 세워 백성들에게 전할 말을 그에게 말하겠다. 그러면 내가 명령하는 모든 것을 그가 백성들에게 전할 것이다.
  4. 그가 전하는 내 말을 듣지 않는 자는 누구든지 내가 직접 벌하겠다.
  5. 그러나 내 이름을 빌려 내가 명령하지도 않은 것을 제멋대로 말하는 예언자나 다른 신들의 이름으로 말하는 예언자는 반드시 죽게 될 것이다.
  1. "You may say in your heart, 'How will we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?'
  2. "When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.
  1. 여러분은 예언자의 말이 여호와께서 주신 말씀인지 아닌지 어떻게 아느냐고 속으로 생각할지 모릅니다.
  2. 만일 어떤 예언자가 여호와의 이름으로 말을 해도 그것이 이루어지지 않으면 그가 말한 것은 여호와께서 주신 말씀이 아니라 그가 제멋대로 지어낸 말입니다. 그러므로 여러분은 그런 자를 두려워하지 마십시오.'
 
  도피성(19:1-19:14)    
 
  1. "When the LORD your God cuts off the nations, whose land the LORD your God gives you, and you dispossess them and settle in their cities and in their houses,
  2. you shall set aside three cities for yourself in the midst of your land, which the LORD your God gives you to possess.
  3. "You shall prepare the roads for yourself, and divide into three parts the territory of your land which the LORD your God will give you as a possession, so that any manslayer may flee there.
  4. "Now this is the case of the manslayer who may flee there and live: when he kills his friend unintentionally, not hating him previously--
  5. as when a man goes into the forest with his friend to cut wood, and his hand swings the axe to cut down the tree, and the iron head slips off the handle and strikes his friend so that he dies--he may flee to one of these cities and live;
  1. '여러분의 하나님 여호와께서 여러분이 쫓아낼 민족들을 멸망시키시고 여러분이 그 땅을 차지하여 그들의 성과 집에 살게 될 때에
  2. 여러분은 여호와 하나님이 여러분에게 주신 땅을 세 구역으로 나누어 각 구역마다 도피성을 하나씩 마련하여 쉽게 드나들 수 있도록 길을 닦아 놓고 살인자가 그 곳으로 피신하게 하십시오.
  3. (2절과 같음)
  4. 아무 원한이 없이 과실로 사람을 죽인 자는 이 곳으로 도피할 수 있습니다.
  5. 예를 들어 어떤 사람이 자기 이웃과 함께 숲속에 들어가서 나무를 찍다가 도끼가 자루에서 빠져 나가 그 이웃 사람이 맞아 죽으면 그는 이 도피성 중 어느 한 곳으로 도망하여 안전하게 피할 수 있습니다.
  1. otherwise the avenger of blood might pursue the manslayer in the heat of his anger, and overtake him, because the way is long, and take his life, though he was not deserving of death, since he had not hated him previously.
  2. "Therefore, I command you, saying, 'You shall set aside three cities for yourself.'
  3. "If the LORD your God enlarges your territory, just as He has sworn to your fathers, and gives you all the land which He promised to give your fathers--
  4. if you carefully observe all this commandment which I command you today, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in His ways always--then you shall add three more cities for yourself, besides these three.
  5. "So innocent blood will not be shed in the midst of your land which the LORD your God gives you as an inheritance, and bloodguiltiness be on you.
  1. 그 사람은 본래 악의가 없었으므로 그를 죽게 해서는 안 됩니다. 그러나 만일 도피성이 하나밖에 없으면 거기까지 가는 길이 너무 멀어 가는 도중에 복수하려는 사람이 그를 따라가서 죽지 않아도 될 사람을 잡아 죽일지도 모릅니다.
  2. 그래서 내가 여러분에게 세 도피성을 지정해 놓으라고 명령하는 것입니다.
  3. 여러분의 하나님 여호와께서 여러분의 조상들에게 약속하신 대로 여러분의 영토를 넓히고 약속대로 그 모든 땅을 여러분에게 주실 때에
  4. 여러분은 이 외에 세 도피성을 더 마련하십시오. 만일 여러분이 오늘 내가 명령하는 이 모든 것을 행하되 여러분의 하나님 여호와를 사랑하며 항상 그분의 뜻대로 살면 여호와께서 약속하신 이 땅을 여러분에게 반드시 주실 것입니다.
  5. 이렇게 하여 여러분은 여호와께서 주신 땅에서 죄 없는 사람을 죽이는 일이 없도록 하십시오.
  1. "But if there is a man who hates his neighbor and lies in wait for him and rises up against him and strikes him so that he dies, and he flees to one of these cities,
  2. then the elders of his city shall send and take him from there and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.
  3. "You shall not pity him, but you shall purge the blood of the innocent from Israel, that it may go well with you.
  4. "You shall not move your neighbor's boundary mark, which the ancestors have set, in your inheritance which you will inherit in the land that the LORD your God gives you to possess.
  1. 그러나 어떤 사람이 자기 이웃을 미워하여 고의적으로 숨어 있다가 그를 쳐서 죽이고 도피성으로 피신하면
  2. 그가 사는 성의 지도자들은 사람을 보내 그를 잡아다가 복수자의 손에 넘겨 죽이도록 하십시오.
  3. 여러분은 이런 살인자를 불쌍히 여기지 말고 이스라엘에서 모조리 제거하십시오. 그러면 여러분이 모든 일에 복을 받게 될 것입니다.
  4. 여러분은 여호와 하나님이 주시는 땅에서 이미 세워진 이웃의 땅 경계석을 옮기지 마십시오.
