역대하 10:1-12:16

 과중한 세금과 노역에 시달리던 백성들은 르호보암에게 시정을 요구하였지만, 그는 어리석게도 강경책을 고수하였다. 결국 여로보암을 중심으로 열 지파가 반란을 일으켜 왕국은 둘로 나뉘게 되었다. 르호보암은 초기에는 지혜로운 통치로 왕국을 안정시켰으나, 나라가 강성해지자 율법을 버리고 하나님께 범죄함으로써 애굽 왕 시삭의 침입을 받는 징계를 받았다.
  
  왕국 분열(10:1-10:19)    
 
  1. Then Rehoboam went to Shechem, for all Israel had come to Shechem to make him king.
  2. When Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard of it (for he was in Egypt where he had fled from the presence of King Solomon), Jeroboam returned from Egypt.
  3. So they sent and summoned him. When Jeroboam and all Israel came, they spoke to Rehoboam, saying,
  4. "Your father made our yoke hard; now therefore lighten the hard service of your father and his heavy yoke which he put on us, and we will serve you."
  5. He said to them, "Return to me again in three days." So the people departed.
  1. 모든 이스라엘 사람들이 르호보암을 왕으로 삼기 위해 세겜으로 가자 르호보암도 그리로 갔다.
  2. 이때 솔로몬왕을 피해 이집트로 망명했던 느밧의 아들 여로보암이 이 소식을 듣고 이집트에서 돌아왔다.
  3. 그래서 사람들은 여로보암을 불러 그를 앞세우고 르호보암에게 가서 이렇게 말하였다.
  4. '당신의 아버지는 우리를 혹사시키고 우리에게 무거운 짐을 지워 주었습니다. 이제 당신은 이 짐을 가볍게 하여 우리 생활을 편하게 해 주십시오. 그러면 우리가 당신을 왕으로 모시겠습니다.'
  5. 이때 르호보암이 '갔다가 3일 후에 다시 오시오.' 하자 백성들은 일단 돌아갔다.
  1. Then King Rehoboam consulted with the elders who had served his father Solomon while he was still alive, saying, "How do you counsel me to answer this people?"
  2. They spoke to him, saying, "If you will be kind to this people and please them and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever."
  3. But he forsook the counsel of the elders which they had given him, and consulted with the young men who grew up with him and served him.
  4. So he said to them, "What counsel do you give that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, 'Lighten the yoke which your father put on us'?"
  5. The young men who grew up with him spoke to him, saying, "Thus you shall say to the people who spoke to you, saying, 'Your father made our yoke heavy, but you make it lighter for us.' Thus you shall say to them, 'My little finger is thicker than my father's loins!
  1. 그리고서 르호보암왕은 자기 아버지의 자문관으로 일하던 노인들을 불러 '이 백성들에게 어떻게 대답하면 좋겠소?' 하고 물었다.
  2. 그러자 그들은 '만일 왕이 이 백성을 따뜻이 대하고 만족스러운 대답으로 이들의 마음을 흐뭇하게 하시면 그들이 왕을 언제나 충성스럽게 섬길 것입니다.' 하고 대답하였다.
  3. 그러나 르호보암은 그 노인들의 조언을 무시하고 대신 자기와 함께 자란 그의 젊은 보좌관들에게
  4. '그대들은 어떻게 생각하시오? 자기들의 짐을 가볍게 해 달라고 요구하는 이 백성들에게 내가 어떻게 대답했으면 좋겠소?' 하고 물었다.
  5. 그러자 그 젊은 보좌관들이 대답하였다. '왕은 그들에게 내 새끼 손가락이 내 아버지의 허리보다 더 굵은 줄을 몰랐소?
  1. 'Whereas my father loaded you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions.'"
  2. So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam on the third day as the king had directed, saying, "Return to me on the third day."
  3. The king answered them harshly, and King Rehoboam forsook the counsel of the elders.
  4. He spoke to them according to the advice of the young men, saying, "My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions."
  5. So the king did not listen to the people, for it was a turn of events from God that the LORD might establish His word, which He spoke through Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
  1. 내 아버지가 당신들에게 무거운 짐을 지웠다고 생각한다면 나는 그 짐을 더 무겁게 할 것이오. 내 아버지는 채찍으로 당신들을 다스렸지만 나는 전갈로 당신들을 다스리겠소 하고 대답하십시오.'
  2. 3일 후에 여로보암과 백성들이 르호보암을 찾아왔을 때
  3. 왕은 노인들의 조언을 무시하고 그들에게 포악한 말로 젊은 보좌관들이 일러 준 그대로 대답하였다.

  5. 왕이 이처럼 백성들의 말을 듣지 않은 것은 여호와께서 실로 사람 아히야를 통해 느밧의 아들 여로보암에게 말씀하신 것을 이루시려고 이 일에 직접 개입하셨기 때문이었다.
  1. When all Israel saw that the king did not listen to them the people answered the king, saying, "What portion do we have in David? We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse Every man to your tents, O Israel; Now look after your own house, David " So all Israel departed to their tents.
  2. But as for the sons of Israel who lived in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
  3. Then King Rehoboam sent Hadoram, who was over the forced labor, and the sons of Israel stoned him to death. And King Rehoboam made haste to mount his chariot to flee to Jerusalem.
  4. So Israel has been in rebellion against the house of David to this day.
  1. 이스라엘 사람들은 왕이 자기들의 말을 듣지 않는 것을 보고 이렇게 외쳤다. '다윗과 그 집안을 타도하자! 이새의 아들에게서 무엇을 얻겠느냐? 자, 이스라엘 사람들아, 집으로 돌아가자! 르호보암아, 이제 너는 네 집안이나 다스려라!' 그리고서 그들은 집으로 돌아갔다.

  유다 왕국의 강성(11:1-11:23)    
 
  1. Now when Rehoboam had come to Jerusalem, he assembled the house of Judah and Benjamin, 180,000 chosen men who were warriors, to fight against Israel to restore the kingdom to Rehoboam.
  2. But the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
  3. "Speak to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,
  4. 'Thus says the LORD, "You shall not go up or fight against your relatives; return every man to his house, for this thing is from Me."'" So they listened to the words of the LORD and returned from going against Jeroboam.
  5. Rehoboam lived in Jerusalem and built cities for defense in Judah.
  1. 르호보암은 예루살렘에 돌아와 유다와 베냐민 지파에서 18만명의 정예병을 소집하고 전쟁을 일으켜 이스라엘 북쪽 지파들을 장악하려고 하였다.
  2. 그러나 하나님은 예언자 스마야를 통하여 르호보암과 그리고 유다와 베냐민 지파 모든 사람들에게 이렇게 말씀하셨다.
  3. (2절과 같음)
  4. '너희는 너희 형제들과 싸우러 가지 말고 모두 집으로 돌아가거라. 일이 이렇게 된 것은 내 뜻이었다.' 그래서 그들은 여호와의 말씀에 순종하여 여로보암을 치러 가지 않았다.
  5. 르호보암은 예루살렘에 머물러 있으면서 유다 땅에 방비성을 건축하였다.
  1. Thus he built Bethlehem, Etam, Tekoa,
  2. Beth-zur, Soco, Adullam,
  3. Gath, Mareshah, Ziph,
  4. Adoraim, Lachish, Azekah,
  5. Zorah, Aijalon and Hebron, which are fortified cities in Judah and in Benjamin.
  1. 그 성들은 베들레헴, 에담, 드고아,
  2. 벧-술, 소고, 아둘람,
  3. 가드, 마레사, 십,
  4. 아도라임, 라기스, 아세가,
  5. 소라, 아얄론, 그리고 에브론이었다.
  1. He also strengthened the fortresses and put officers in them and stores of food, oil and wine.
  2. He put shields and spears in every city and strengthened them greatly. So he held Judah and Benjamin.
  3. Moreover, the priests and the Levites who were in all Israel stood with him from all their districts.
  4. For the Levites left their pasture lands and their property and came to Judah and Jerusalem, for Jeroboam and his sons had excluded them from serving as priests to the LORD.
  5. He set up priests of his own for the high places, for the satyrs and for the calves which he had made.
  1. 르호보암은 이 성들을 완전 요새화하고 각 성마다 지휘관을 두어 다스리게 하였으며 식량과 감람기름과 포도주를 비축하고
  2. 또 각 성의 병기고에는 방패와 창을 확보하여 그 성들을 아주 튼튼하게 하였다. 이런 식으로 그는 유다와 베냐민 지파를 다스렸다.
  3. 이때 이스라엘 땅에 있던 모든 제사장들과 레위 사람들이 고향을 버리고 유다와 예루살렘으로 이주해 왔다. 이것은 여로보암과 그의 아들들이 그들을 파면하여 여호와의 제사장 일을 못하도록 했기 때문이었다.
  4. (13절과 같음)
  5. 또 여로보암은 자기가 만든 수염소와 송아지 우상에게 제사하고 산당에서 섬길 제사장들을 제멋대로 임명하였다.
  1. Those from all the tribes of Israel who set their hearts on seeking the LORD God of Israel followed them to Jerusalem, to sacrifice to the LORD God of their fathers.
  2. They strengthened the kingdom of Judah and supported Rehoboam the son of Solomon for three years, for they walked in the way of David and Solomon for three years.
  3. Then Rehoboam took as a wife Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David and of Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse,
  4. and she bore him sons: Jeush, Shemariah and Zaham.
  5. After her he took Maacah the daughter of Absalom, and she bore him Abijah, Attai, Ziza and Shelomith.
  1. 이스라엘 모든 지파에서 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와를 진심으로 찾고자 하는 사람들은 그들 조상의 하나님 여호와께 자유로이 제사를 드리기 위해서 레위 사람들을 따라 예루살렘으로 모여들었으며
  2. 이것은 유다의 국력 신장에 큰 도움이 되었다. 그래서 유다 백성들은 다윗과 솔로몬 시대와 마찬가지로 르호보암왕을 섬기며 3년 동안 아무런 어려움 없이 지냈다
  3. 르호보암은 그의 사촌 마할랏과 결혼하였다. 그녀의 아버지는 다윗의 아들 여리못이었고 그녀의 어머니는 이새의 손녀이며 엘리압의 딸인 아비하일이었다.

  1. Rehoboam loved Maacah the daughter of Absalom more than all his other wives and concubines. For he had taken eighteen wives and sixty concubines and fathered twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.
  2. Rehoboam appointed Abijah the son of Maacah as head and leader among his brothers, for he intended to make him king.
  3. He acted wisely and distributed some of his sons through all the territories of Judah and Benjamin to all the fortified cities, and he gave them food in abundance. And he sought many wives for them.
  1. 르호보암은 아내 18명과 첩 60명을 거느리고 살면서 28명의 아들과 60명의 딸을 낳았으며 그 모든 아내와 첩 가운데서도 그는 특별히 마아가를 사랑하였다.
  2. 그래서 그는 마아가가 낳은 아들 아비야에게 장자권을 주어 그에게 자기 왕위를 물려 주려고 하였다.
  3. 지혜롭게도 르호보암은 그의 모든 아들들을 유다와 베냐민 전 지역의 요새 성에 흩어 살게 하였으며 그들에게 식량을 풍부하게 주고 아내도 많이 구해 주었다.
 
  애굽의 침입(12:1-12:16)    
 
  1. When the kingdom of Rehoboam was established and strong, he and all Israel with him forsook the law of the LORD.
  2. And it came about in King Rehoboam's fifth year, because they had been unfaithful to the LORD, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem
  3. with 1,200 chariots and 60,000 horsemen. And the people who came with him from Egypt were without number: the Lubim, the Sukkiim and the Ethiopians.
  4. He captured the fortified cities of Judah and came as far as Jerusalem.
  5. Then Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam and the princes of Judah who had gathered at Jerusalem because of Shishak, and he said to them, "Thus says the LORD, 'You have forsaken Me, so I also have forsaken you to Shishak.'"
  1. 그러나 르호보암은 왕으로서의 위치가 확고해지고 세력이 강해지자 여호와를 버렸으며 백성들도 그를 본받아 여호와의 법에 따르지 않았다.
  2. 그 결과 르호보암왕 5년에 이집트의 시삭왕이 예루살렘을 침략하였다.
  3. 그는 전차 1,200대와 마병 60,000명과 그리고 리비아, 숙, 이디오피아 사람을 포함한 무수한 이집트 보병을 이끌고 와서
  4. 유다의 요새 성들을 급습하여 뺏은 다음 곧 예루살렘으로 밀어닥쳤다.
  5. 이때 예언자 스마야는 르호보암왕과 그리고 시삭을 두려워하여 예루살렘에 모여 있는 유다 지도자들에게 가서 이렇게 말하였다. '여러분이 여호와를 버렸으므로 여호와께서도 여러분을 버려 시삭왕에게 넘겨 주었다고 말씀하셨습니다.'
  1. So the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said, "The LORD is righteous."
  2. When the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, "They have humbled themselves so I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some measure of deliverance, and My wrath shall not be poured out on Jerusalem by means of Shishak.
  3. "But they will become his slaves so that they may learn the difference between My service and the service of the kingdoms of the countries."
  4. So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the king's palace He took everything; he even took the golden shields which Solomon had made.
  5. Then King Rehoboam made shields of bronze in their place and committed them to the care of the commanders of the guard who guarded the door of the king's house.
  1. 그러자 왕과 유다의 지도자들은 그들이 범죄한 것을 인정하며 '여호와께서 우리에게 이렇게 하시는 것도 당연하다' 하고 스스로 뉘우쳤다.
  2. 여호와께서는 그들이 겸손하게 뉘우치는 것을 보시고 스마야에게 말씀하셨다. '그들이 겸손하게 자기들의 죄를 인정하고 뉘우치므로 내가 그들을 전멸시키지는 않을 것이며 시삭을 통해 내 분노를 예루살렘에 쏟지는 않을 것이다.
  3. 그러나 그들은 시삭에게 매년 조공을 바치고 그를 섬겨야 할 것이다. 그러면 그들이 나를 섬기는 것과 세상 왕을 섬기는 것 중에서 어느 것이 좋은지 알게 될 것이다.'
  4. 이집트의 시삭왕이 예루살렘을 침략하여 성전과 궁전의 모든 보물과 솔로몬이 만든 금방패를 모조리 약탈해 갔다.
  5. 그래서 르호보암왕은 대신 놋방패를 만들어 궁중 경비병들에게 주었는데
  1. As often as the king entered the house of the LORD, the guards came and carried them and then brought them back into the guards' room.
  2. And when he humbled himself, the anger of the LORD turned away from him, so as not to destroy him completely; and also conditions were good in Judah.
  3. So King Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem and reigned. Now Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen from all the tribes of Israel, to put His name there. And his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess.
  4. He did evil because he did not set his heart to seek the LORD.
  5. Now the acts of Rehoboam, from first to last, are they not written in the records of Shemaiah the prophet and of Iddo the seer, according to genealogical enrollment? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.
  1. 왕이 성전에 들어갈 때마다 그들은 방패를 가지고 따라갔다가 다시 그것을 경비실로 가져왔다.
  2. 르호보암왕이 겸손한 마음으로 자신을 낮추었기 때문에 여호와께서는 그에게서 분노를 거두시고 유다를 완전히 멸망시키지는 않으셨다.
  3. 르호보암왕은 예루살렘에서 기틀을 잡아 나라를 다스렸다. 그는 41세에 왕위에 올라 여호와께서 이스라엘의 모든 땅 중에서 특별히 경배를 받으실 곳으로 택한 예루살렘에서 17년을 통치하였다. 그리고 그의 어머니는 암몬 사람 나아마였다.
  4. 르호보암은 진심으로 여호와를 찾지 않았기 때문에 악을 행하였다.
  5. 르호보암이 행한 모든 일은 예언자 스마야와 잇도가 쓴 족보책에 상세히 기록되어 있다. 그리고 르호보암과 여로보암 사이에는 끊임없는 전쟁이 있었다.
  1. And Rehoboam slept with his fathers and was buried in the city of David; and his son Abijah became king in his place.
  1. 르호보암은 죽어 다윗성에 장사되었다. 그의 아들 아비야가 왕위를 계승하였다.
