역대하 24:1-25:28

 요아스는 제사장 여호야다가 살아 있을 동안에는 선정을 베풀었으나, 그가 죽자 우상 숭배에 빠져 선지자 스가랴를 살해하는 등의 범죄를 자행하였다. 그리하여 아람 왕 하사엘의 침입을 받고, 결국 신하들의 모반으로 살해당하였다. 그의 뒤를 이은 아마샤는 초기에는 하나님의 말씀에 순종하여 전승의 영광을 얻었으나, 교만해져서 하나님을 버린 후에는 타락의 일로를 걷다가 결국 반역의 희생물이 되고 말았다.
  
  요아스의 유다 통치(24:1-24:27)    
 
  1. Joash was seven years old when he became king, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Zibiah from Beersheba.
  2. Joash did what was right in the sight of the LORD all the days of Jehoiada the priest.
  3. Jehoiada took two wives for him, and he became the father of sons and daughters.
  4. Now it came about after this that Joash decided to restore the house of the LORD.
  5. He gathered the priests and Levites and said to them, "Go out to the cities of Judah and collect money from all Israel to repair the house of your God annually, and you shall do the matter quickly." But the Levites did not act quickly.
  1. 요아스는 7세에 왕위에 올라 예루살렘에서 40년을 통치하였다. 그리고 그의 어머니는 브엘세바 사람 시비아였다.
  2. 요아스는 제사장 여호야다가 사는 날 동안 여호와께서 보시기에 옳은 일을 하였다.
  3. 여호야다가 요아스에게 두 아내를 구해 주었으므로 그에게는 여러 자녀가 있었다.
  4. 그 후에 요아스는 성전을 수리하기로 작정하고
  5. 제사장들과 레위 사람들을 불러 놓고 이렇게 지시하였다. '여러분은 유다의 모든 성으로 가서 해마다 성전을 수리할 비용을 거두어 들이시오. 지체하지 말고 당장 이 일을 수행해야 합니다. 그러나 레위 사람들은 그 일을 즉시 하지 않고 시간을 끌었다.
  1. So the king summoned Jehoiada the chief priest and said to him, "Why have you not required the Levites to bring in from Judah and from Jerusalem the levy fixed by Moses the servant of the LORD on the congregation of Israel for the tent of the testimony?"
  2. For the sons of the wicked Athaliah had broken into the house of God and even used the holy things of the house of the LORD for the Baals.
  3. So the king commanded, and they made a chest and set it outside by the gate of the house of the LORD.
  4. They made a proclamation in Judah and Jerusalem to bring to the LORD the levy fixed by Moses the servant of God on Israel in the wilderness.
  5. All the officers and all the people rejoiced and brought in their levies and dropped them into the chest until they had finished.
  1. 그래서 왕은 대제사장 여호야다를 불러 '당신은 어째서 레위 사람들에게 지시하여 하나님의 종 모세가 이스라엘 백성에게 부과한 성전세를 유다와 예루살렘에서 거두어 들이지 않았소?' 하고 따졌다.
  2. 악한 아달랴의 추종자들이 성전을 파괴하고 많은 성전 비품을 바알 신전으로 가져갔다.
  3. 그래서 왕은 상자 하나를 만들어 성전 문 밖에 두게 하고
  4. 유다와 예루살렘 모든 성에 공포하여 백성들에게 하나님의 종 모세가 이스라엘에 부과한 세금을 여호와께 바치라고 호소하였다.
  5. 그러자 모든 지도자들과 백성들은 기쁜 마음으로 돈을 가져와 그 헌금함이 차고 넘칠 때까지 던져 넣었다.
  1. It came about whenever the chest was brought in to the king's officer by the Levites, and when they saw that there was much money, then the king's scribe and the chief priest's officer would come, empty the chest, take it, and return it to its place. Thus they did daily and collected much money.
  2. The king and Jehoiada gave it to those who did the work of the service of the house of the LORD; and they hired masons and carpenters to restore the house of the LORD, and also workers in iron and bronze to repair the house of the LORD.
  3. So the workmen labored, and the repair work progressed in their hands, and they restored the house of God according to its specifications and strengthened it.
  4. When they had finished, they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada; and it was made into utensils for the house of the LORD, utensils for the service and the burnt offering, and pans and utensils of gold and silver. And they offered burnt offerings in the house of the LORD continually all the days of Jehoiada.
  5. Now when Jehoiada reached a ripe old age he died; he was one hundred and thirty years old at his death.
  1. 그리고 헌금함에 돈이 가득 찰 때마다 레위 사람들이 그 헌금함을 궁중 담당관에게 메고 갔다. 그러면 궁중 서기관과 대제사장의 비서가 그 돈을 계산하고 헌금함은 다시 제자리에 갖다 두었다. 이렇게 하여 그들은 많은 돈을 거둬들였다.
  2. 왕과 여호야다는 성전 수리 담당자들에게 그 돈을 주었으며 그들은 석수와 목수와 철공을 고용하여 성전을 수리하기 시작하였다.
  3. 모든 인부들이 열심히 일한 덕택에 성전 수리 공사는 잘 진척되어 성전은 본래의 모습을 되찾게 되었다.
  4. 그들은 성전 수리를 끝내고 남은 돈을 왕과 여호야다에게 가져왔는데 그 돈으로 제사지낼 때 쓰는 금은 숟가락과 그릇들을 만들었다. 그리고 그들은 여호야다가 살아 있는 동안 성전에 항상 번제를 드렸다.
  5. 여호야다는 오랫동안 살다가 늙어 130세에 죽었다.
  1. They buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done well in Israel and to God and His house.
  2. But after the death of Jehoiada the officials of Judah came and bowed down to the king, and the king listened to them.
  3. They abandoned the house of the LORD, the God of their fathers, and served the Asherim and the idols; so wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this their guilt.
  4. Yet He sent prophets to them to bring them back to the LORD; though they testified against them, they would not listen.
  5. Then the Spirit of God came on Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest; and he stood above the people and said to them, "Thus God has said, 'Why do you transgress the commandments of the LORD and do not prosper? Because you have forsaken the LORD, He has also forsaken you.'"
  1. 백성들은 이스라엘과 하나님과 성전을 위해 그가 행한 업적을 생각하여 그를 다윗성에 있는 왕들의 묘에 장사하였다.
  2. 그러나 여호야다가 죽은 후에 유다의 지도자들이 요아스왕을 설득하여 자기들의 말을 듣도록 하였다.
  3. 그러자 백성들은 그들 조상의 하나님 여호와의 성전에서 예배하는 일을 중단하고 대신 우상과 아세라 여신상을 섬기기 시작하였다. 그래서 그들이 범한 이 죄로 유다와 예루살렘은 하나님의 분노를 사게 되었다.
  4. 여호와께서는 예언자들을 그들에게 보내 자기에게 돌아오라고 경고하였으나 백성들은 듣지 않았다.
  5. 그때 하나님의 성령께서 제사장 여호야다의 아들 스가랴를 감동시키시자 그는 백성들이 볼 수 있는 높은 곳에 서서 이렇게 외쳤다. '여호와께서는 왜 여러분이 그의 명령에 불순종하고 스스로 불행을 초래하는지 묻고 계십니다. 여러분이 여호와를 버렸으므로 여호와께서도 여러분을 버리셨습니다!'
  1. So they conspired against him and at the command of the king they stoned him to death in the court of the house of the LORD.
  2. Thus Joash the king did not remember the kindness which his father Jehoiada had shown him, but he murdered his son. And as he died he said, "May the LORD see and avenge!"
  3. Now it happened at the turn of the year that the army of the Arameans came up against him; and they came to Judah and Jerusalem, destroyed all the officials of the people from among the people, and sent all their spoil to the king of Damascus.
  4. Indeed the army of the Arameans came with a small number of men; yet the LORD delivered a very great army into their hands, because they had forsaken the LORD, the God of their fathers. Thus they executed judgment on Joash.
  5. When they had departed from him (for they left him very sick), his own servants conspired against him because of the blood of the son of Jehoiada the priest, and murdered him on his bed. So he died, and they buried him in the city of David, but they did not bury him in the tombs of the kings.
  1. 그러나 백성들은 자기들의 음모에 가담한 요아스왕의 명령에 따라 성전 뜰에서 스가랴를 돌로 쳐죽였다.
  2. 이와 같이 요아스왕은 스가랴의 아버지 여호야다가 자기에게 베푼 은혜를 잊어버리고 그의 아들을 죽이고 말았다. 스가랴는 죽을 때에 '여호와여, 이것을 보시고 저들의 소행을 갚아 주소서.' 하고 외쳤다.
  3. 몇 달 후에 시리아군이 유다와 예루살렘을 침략하여 나라의 모든 지도자들을 죽이고 수많은 전리품을 다마스커스에 있는 그들의 왕에게 보냈다.
  4. 시리아군은 소수의 병력에 불과했으나 여호와께서는 그들이 대군과 맞서 싸워 승리를 얻게 하셨다. 이것은 유다 백성이 그들 조상의 하나님 여호와를 저버렸기 때문이었다. 이렇게 해서 하나님은 요아스왕을 심판하셨다.
  5. 시리아군은 철수하면서 요아스에게 큰 부상을 입혔다. 그들이 떠난 후에 그의 신하 중 두 사람이 제사장 여호야다의 아들을 죽인 것에 대한 보복으로 왕을 죽일 음모를 꾸며 침대에 누워 있는 그를 쳐죽였다. 그는 다윗성에 장사되었으나 왕들의 묘에는 장사되지 않았다.
  1. Now these are those who conspired against him: Zabad the son of Shimeath the Ammonitess, and Jehozabad the son of Shimrith the Moabitess.
  2. As to his sons and the many oracles against him and the rebuilding of the house of God, behold, they are written in the treatise of the Book of the Kings. Then Amaziah his son became king in his place.
  1. 이 사건에 관여된 사람은 암몬 여자 시므앗의 아들 사밧과 모압 여자 시므릿의 아들 여호사밧이었다.
  2. 요아스의 아들들에 관한 일과 요아스에 대한 예언과 성전 수리 공사에 대한 이야기는 다 열왕기 주석에 기록되어 있다. 요아스가 죽은 후에 그의 아들 아마샤가 왕위를 계승하였다.
 
  아마샤의 유다 통치(25:1-25:28)    
 
  1. Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.
  2. He did right in the sight of the LORD, yet not with a whole heart.
  3. Now it came about as soon as the kingdom was firmly in his grasp, that he killed his servants who had slain his father the king.
  4. However, he did not put their children to death, but did as it is written in the law in the book of Moses, which the LORD commanded, saying, "Fathers shall not be put to death for sons, nor sons be put to death for fathers, but each shall be put to death for his own sin."
  5. Moreover, Amaziah assembled Judah and appointed them according to their fathers' households under commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds throughout Judah and Benjamin; and he took a census of those from twenty years old and upward and found them to be 300,000 choice men, able to go to war and handle spear and shield.
  1. 아마샤는 25세에 왕위에 올라 예루살렘에서 29년을 통치하였다. 그리고 그의 어머니는 예루살렘 사람 여호앗단이었다.
  2. 아마샤는 여호와께서 보시기에 옳은 일을 하였으나 전심전력으로 하지는 않았다.
  3. 그는 세력 기반을 튼튼하게 굳힌 다음 자기 아버지를 살해한 신하들을 처형시켰다
  4. 그러나 아마샤가 그들의 자녀는 죽이지 않았는데 이것은 모세의 율법책에 기록된 대로 부모는 자녀의 죄 때문에 죽어서는 안되며 자녀도 부모의 죄 때문에 죽는 일이 있어서는 안 되고 모든 사람들은 각자 자기 죄에 대해서만 그 댓가를 치러야 한다는 여호와의 명령에 그가 순종하였기 때문이었다.
  5. 아마샤는 유다와 베냐민 지파 사람들을 모아 군 부대를 조직하고 그들이 속해 있는 집안에 따라 1,000명으로 구성된 부대와 100명으로 구성된 부대에 각 지휘관을 세웠다 그리고 인원을 점검한 결과 총병력은 30만 명이었다. 이들은 모두 20세 이상의 사람들로 창과 칼을 능숙하게 쓸 수 있는 잘 훈련된 군인들이었다. 또 아마샤는 은 3,400킬로그램으로 이스라엘군 10만 명도 고용하였다.
  1. He hired also 100,000 valiant warriors out of Israel for one hundred talents of silver.
  2. But a man of God came to him saying, "O king, do not let the army of Israel go with you, for the LORD is not with Israel nor with any of the sons of Ephraim.
  3. "But if you do go, do it, be strong for the battle; yet God will bring you down before the enemy, for God has power to help and to bring down."
  4. Amaziah said to the man of God, "But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the troops of Israel?" And the man of God answered, "The LORD has much more to give you than this."
  5. Then Amaziah dismissed them, the troops which came to him from Ephraim, to go home; so their anger burned against Judah and they returned home in fierce anger.

  2. 그러나 이때 한 예언자가 왕에게 와서 이렇게 말하였다. '왕이시여, 이 이스라엘군을 데리고 가지 마십시오. 여호와께서는 에브라임 사람들과 함께 하시지 않습니다.
  3. 만일 왕이 저들과 함께 출전하시면 아무리 잘 싸워도 왕은 패할 것입니다. 하나님에게는 도우실 능력도 있고 패하게 하실 능력도 있기 때문입니다.'
  4. 이때 아마샤가 물었다. '하지만 내가 은 3,400킬로그램을 이미 주었는데 이 일을 어떻게 하면 좋겠소?' 그러자 그 예언자는 '여호와께서 이보다 더 많은 것을 왕에게 주실 수 있습니다.' 하고 대답했다.
  5. 그래서 아마샤가 에브라임에서 온 이스라엘군을 돌려보내자 그들은 유다 사람들을 증오하며 고향으로 돌아갔다.
  1. Now Amaziah strengthened himself and led his people forth, and went to the Valley of Salt and struck down 10,000 of the sons of Seir.
  2. The sons of Judah also captured 10,000 alive and brought them to the top of the cliff and threw them down from the top of the cliff, so that they were all dashed to pieces.
  3. But the troops whom Amaziah sent back from going with him to battle, raided the cities of Judah, from Samaria to Beth-horon, and struck down 3,000 of them and plundered much spoil.
  4. Now after Amaziah came from slaughtering the Edomites, he brought the gods of the sons of Seir, set them up as his gods, bowed down before them and burned incense to them.
  5. Then the anger of the LORD burned against Amaziah, and He sent him a prophet who said to him, "Why have you sought the gods of the people who have not delivered their own people from your hand?"
  1. 아마샤는 용기를 내어 병력을 이끌고 '소금 골짜기'로 가서 에돔군 10,000명을 죽이고
  2. 또 10,000명은 생포하여 높은 절벽으로 끌고 가 거기서 밀어뜨려 몸이 박살나게 하였다.
  3. 한편 아마샤가 자기와 함께 출전하지 못하도록 돌려보낸 이스라엘군이 사마리아와 벧-호론 사이에 있는 유다 성들을 기습하여 3,000명을 죽이고 많은 물건을 약탈해 갔다.
  4. 아마샤왕은 에돔 사람을 죽이고 돌아올 때 그들의 우상들을 가지고 와서 신으로 모셔 놓고 그 앞에 경배하며 분향하였다.
  5. 그래서 여호와께서는 노하셔서 한 예언자를 아마샤에게 보내 이렇게 물어 보도록 하였다. '자기 백성조차 왕의 손에서 구원하지 못한 신들을 왕은 어째서 섬기십니까?'
  1. As he was talking with him, the king said to him, "Have we appointed you a royal counselor? Stop! Why should you be struck down?" Then the prophet stopped and said, "I know that God has planned to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel."
  2. Then Amaziah king of Judah took counsel and sent to Joash the son of Jehoahaz the son of Jehu, the king of Israel, saying, "Come, let us face each other."
  3. Joash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, "The thorn bush which was in Lebanon sent to the cedar which was in Lebanon, saying, 'Give your daughter to my son in marriage.' But there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon and trampled the thorn bush.
  4. "You said, 'Behold, you have defeated Edom.' And your heart has become proud in boasting. Now stay at home; for why should you provoke trouble so that you, even you, would fall and Judah with you?"
  5. But Amaziah would not listen, for it was from God, that He might deliver them into the hand of Joash because they had sought the gods of Edom.
  1. 그러자 왕은 '언제부터 내가 너를 고문으로 삼았느냐? 내가 너를 죽여 버리기 전에 입을 닥쳐라' 하고 말문을 막았다. 그래서 그 예언자는 떠나면서 왕에게 마지막 경고를 했다. '왕이 이런 짓을 하고도 나의 충고를 받아들이지 않으므로 하나님께서 왕을 멸망시키기로 작정한 줄 아십시오.'
  2. 유다의 아마샤왕은 자기 보좌관들과 상의한 후에 예후의 손자이며 여호아하스의 아들인 이스라엘의 여호아스왕에게 사람을 보내 정면으로 한번 겨루어 보자는 뜻을 전했다.
  3. 그러나 이스라엘의 여호아스왕은 아마샤에게 이런 회답을 보냈다 '한번은 레바논의 가시나무가 백향목에게 '네 딸을 내 아들에게 주어 아내를 삼게 하라' 하였으나 바로 그때 들짐승이 지나가다가 그 가시나무를 짓밟아 버렸다.
  4. 네가 에돔을 쳐서 이기더니 대단히 교만해졌구나. 내가 충고해 두지만 너는 네 집이나 지키고 앉아 있거라. 어째서 네가 화를 스스로 불러 일으켜 너와 유다가 함께 망하려고 하느냐?'
  5. 그러나 아마샤는 그 말을 듣지 않았다. 이것은 그가 에돔 우상들을 섬겼으므로 하나님께서 그를 멸망시키기로 작정하셨기 때문이었다.
  1. So Joash king of Israel went up, and he and Amaziah king of Judah faced each other at Beth-shemesh, which belonged to Judah.
  2. Judah was defeated by Israel, and they fled each to his tent.
  3. Then Joash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash the son of Jehoahaz, at Beth-shemesh, and brought him to Jerusalem and tore down the wall of Jerusalem from the Gate of Ephraim to the Corner Gate, 400 cubits.
  4. He took all the gold and silver and all the utensils which were found in the house of God with Obed-edom, and the treasures of the king's house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.
  5. And Amaziah, the son of Joash king of Judah, lived fifteen years after the death of Joash, son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel.
  1. 이스라엘의 여호아스가 유다를 공격하였다. 그와 아마샤왕은 유다의 벧-세메스에서 만나 격돌했는데
  2. 이 전투에서 유다군은 패하여 모두 자기 집으로 도망치고 말았다.
  3. 이스라엘의 여호아스왕은 유다 왕 아마샤를 생포하고 또 예루살렘으로 가서 에브라임문에서부터 성 모퉁이문까지 180미터에 달하는 성벽을 헐어 버렸다.
  4. 그리고 그는 오벧-에돔이 지키고 있는 성전의 모든 금은 비품과 왕궁 재물을 약탈하고 사람들을 인질로 잡아 사마리아로 돌아갔다.
  5. 그러나 유다의 아마샤왕은 이스라엘의 여호아스왕이 죽은 후에도 15년을 더 살았다.
  1. Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, from first to last, behold, are they not written in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel?
  2. From the time that Amaziah turned away from following the LORD they conspired against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish and killed him there.
  3. Then they brought him on horses and buried him with his fathers in the city of Judah.
  1. 그 밖에 아마샤가 행한 모든 일은 유다와 이스라엘 왕들의 역사책에 자세히 기록되어 있다.
  2. 아마샤가 여호와를 저버린 후부터 예루살렘에는 줄곧 반역 음모가 있었다. 그래서 그는 결국 라기스로 피신했는데 그의 대적들은 그곳까지 따라가서 그를 죽이고
  3. 그의 시체를 말에 싣고 예루살렘으로 돌아와 다윗성에 있는 그 조상들의 묘에 장사하였다.
