느헤미야

  본서는 바벨론으로부터의 3차 포로 귀환과 성벽 재건, 선민 이스라엘 백성들의 신앙 회복과 부흥의 역사를 기록하여 언약을 성취하신 신실한 하나님을 증거하고 있다.

  예루살렘 성벽이 훼파된 소식을 들은 느헤미야는 왕의 허락을 받고 귀향하여 에스라와 함께 성벽을 재건한다. 그 후 백성들은 수문 광장에 모여 에스라가 읽는 율법을 듣고 자신과 조상의 죄를 회개하고 율법을 지킬 것을 맹세한다. 그러나 느헤미야가 유다 총독으로 12년간 업무를 관장하다가 바벨론을 다녀온 사이 백성들은 다시 죄악의 길에 빠졌고, 이를 발견한 느헤미야가 대대적인 개혁을 단행한다.

 

 

느헤미야 1:1-2:20

 아닥사스다 왕의 술 맡은 관원인 느헤미야는 예루살렘 성이 훼파되고, 이스라엘 백성들은 능욕을 받는다는 비참한 소식을 듣고 하나님께 금식하며 기도드렸다. 아닥사스다 왕은 느헤미야의 고민을 듣고 조서를 내려 느헤미야에게 예루살렘에 가도록 허락하였다. 예루살렘에 도착한 느헤미야는 밤중에 예루살렘 성벽의 참담한 상황을 확인한 후, 이스라엘 백성들에게 성벽 중건을 호소하였다.
  
  느헤미야의 첫번째 귀국(1:1-2:20)    
 
  1. The words of Nehemiah the son of Hacaliah Now it happened in the month Chislev, in the twentieth year, while I was in Susa the capitol,
  2. that Hanani, one of my brothers, and some men from Judah came; and I asked them concerning the Jews who had escaped and had survived the captivity, and about Jerusalem.
  3. They said to me, "The remnant there in the province who survived the captivity are in great distress and reproach, and the wall of Jerusalem is broken down and its gates are burned with fire."
  4. When I heard these words, I sat down and wept and mourned for days; and I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven.
  5. I said, "I beseech You, O LORD God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who preserves the covenant and lovingkindness for those who love Him and keep His commandments,
  1. 이것은 하가랴의 아들 느헤미야의 기록이다. 페르시아의 아르타크셀크세스황제 20년 9월에 나는 수산궁에 있었다.
  2. 그때 내 형제 가운데 하나니가 다른 몇 사람과 함께 유다에서 도착하였다. 그래서 나는 포로로 잡혀오지 않고 남아 있는 사람들과 예루살렘의 형편에 대해서 물어 보았다.
  3. 그러자 그들은 포로로 잡혀 오지 않고 그 땅에 남아 있는 사람들이 큰 어려움과 수모를 당하고 있으며 예루살렘 성벽은 무너진 채 그대로 있고 성문은 불탄 이후로 다시 세우지 못했다고 말해 주었다.
  4. 나는 이 말을 듣고 주저앉아 울다가 며칠 동안 슬퍼하고 금식하며 하나님께 이렇게 기도하였다.
  5. '하늘의 하나님 여호와여. 크고 두려우신 하나님이시여, 주를 사랑하고 주의 명령을 지키는 자에게 주는 약속을 지키시고 자비를 베푸시는 분이십니다.
  1. let Your ear now be attentive and Your eyes open to hear the prayer of Your servant which I am praying before You now, day and night, on behalf of the sons of Israel Your servants, confessing the sins of the sons of Israel which we have sinned against You; I and my father's house have sinned.
  2. "We have acted very corruptly against You and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the ordinances which You commanded Your servant Moses.
  3. "Remember the word which You commanded Your servant Moses, saying, 'If you are unfaithful I will scatter you among the peoples;
  4. but if you return to Me and keep My commandments and do them, though those of you who have been scattered were in the most remote part of the heavens, I will gather them from there and will bring them to the place where I have chosen to cause My name to dwell.'
  5. "They are Your servants and Your people whom You redeemed by Your great power and by Your strong hand.
  1. 여호와여, 내가 주의 종들인 이스라엘 백성을 위해 밤낮으로 부르짖는 기도에 귀를 기울이시고 들으소서. 나와 내 백성이 주께 범죄한 것을 고백합니다.
  2. 우리는 주 앞에서 악을 행하고 주의 명령에 불순종하였으며 주의 종 모세를 통해 우리에게 주신 법과 규정을 지키지 않았습니다.
  3. 주께서는 주의 종 모세에게 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. '만일 너희가 범죄하면 내가 너희를 세계 각처에 흩어 버릴 것이다.
  4. 그러나 너희가 나에게 돌아와 내 명령에 순종하면 너희가 비록 멀리 포로로 잡혀가 있을지라도 내가 경배를 받으려고 택한 곳으로 너희를 다시 불러모을 것이다.' 여호와여, 이제 주께서 하신 이 말씀을 기억하소서.
  5. 우리는 다 주의 종들이며 주께서 큰 능력과 힘으로 구원하신 주의 백성들입니다.
  1. "O Lord, I beseech You, may Your ear be attentive to the prayer of Your servant and the prayer of Your servants who delight to revere Your name, and make Your servant successful today and grant him compassion before this man " Now I was the cupbearer to the king.
  1. 여호와여, 이 종의 기도와 주의 이름을 높이고자 하는 종들의 기도를 들으소서. 이제 주께서 이 종을 도우셔서 황제의 은혜를 입게 하소서.' 그 당시 나는 황제에게 술을 따르는 관리였다.
 
 
  1. And it came about in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, that wine was before him, and I took up the wine and gave it to the king. Now I had not been sad in his presence.
  2. So the king said to me, "Why is your face sad though you are not sick? This is nothing but sadness of heart." Then I was very much afraid.
  3. I said to the king, "Let the king live forever Why should my face not be sad when the city, the place of my fathers' tombs, lies desolate and its gates have been consumed by fire?"
  4. Then the king said to me, "What would you request?" So I prayed to the God of heaven.
  5. I said to the king, "If it please the king, and if your servant has found favor before you, send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers' tombs, that I may rebuild it."
  1. 그로부터 4개월 후 1월의 어느 날 나는 황제에게 술을 가지고 가서 따라 드렸다. 그러자 지금까지 내게서 한번도 슬픈 빛을 찾아보지 못한
  2. 황제는 '무슨 일이냐?' 하고 물으면서 '아프지도 않은 네 얼굴에 수심이 가득한 것을 보니 너에게 무슨 문제가 있는 것이 틀림없구나' 하였다. 나는 그때 나는 대단히 두려웠지만
  3. 황제에게 이렇게 말하였다. '황제 폐하께서 오래오래 사시기를 바랍니다. 내 조상들이 묻혀 있는 성이 황폐하고 성문이 불탄 채 그대로 있으니 어찌 내 얼굴에 수심이 없겠습니까?'
  4. 그러자 황제는 '네가 원하는 것이 무엇이냐?' 하고 물었다. 그래서 나는 하늘의 하나님께 잠시 기도한 다음
  5. 황제에게 이렇게 대답하였다. '만일 황제 폐하께서 나를 좋게 보시고 나에게 은혜를 베풀고자 하신다면 나를 유다 땅으로 돌아가게 하여 내 조상들이 묻혀 있는 성을 재건할 수 있게 해 주십시오.'
  1. Then the king said to me, the queen sitting beside him, "How long will your journey be, and when will you return?" So it pleased the king to send me, and I gave him a definite time.
  2. And I said to the king, "If it please the king, let letters be given me for the governors of the provinces beyond the River, that they may allow me to pass through until I come to Judah,
  3. and a letter to Asaph the keeper of the king's forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the fortress which is by the temple, for the wall of the city and for the house to which I will go " And the king granted them to me because the good hand of my God was on me.
  4. Then I came to the governors of the provinces beyond the River and gave them the king's letters Now the king had sent with me officers of the army and horsemen.
  5. When Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite official heard about it, it was very displeasing to them that someone had come to seek the welfare of the sons of Israel.
  1. 그때 황후와 함께 앉아 있던 황제는 '얼마나 오래 걸리겠느냐? 지금 가면 언제 돌아오겠느냐?' 하고 물으며 내 요구를 쾌히 승낙하셨다. 그래서 나는 날짜를 정하고
  2. 황제에게 다시 이렇게 부탁하였다. '만일 황제 폐하께서 좋게 여기신다면 유프라테스강 서쪽 지방의 총독들에게 보일 공문을 써 주셔서 내가 유다까지 무사히 갈 수 있도록 해주십시오.
  3. 그리고 황제의 산림을 관리하는 아삽에게 줄 공문도 써 주셔서 성전 곁에 있는 요새의 문과 성벽과 내가 살 집을 지을 목재를 나에게 주도록 해주십시오.' 하나님께서 나와 함께 하셨으므로 황제는 내가 요구한 모든 것을 다 들어주시고
  4. 몇몇 군 지휘관들과 기병대도 보내 주셨다. 그래서 나는 그들과 함께 유프라테스강 서쪽 지방으로 가서 그 곳 총독들에게 황제가 써 준 공문을 주었다.
  5. 그러나 호론 사람 산발랏과 정부 관리가 된 암몬 사람 도비야가 이스라엘 사람의 복지를 위해 일할 사람이 온다는 말을 듣고 대단히 격분하였다.
  1. So I came to Jerusalem and was there three days.
  2. And I arose in the night, I and a few men with me. I did not tell anyone what my God was putting into my mind to do for Jerusalem and there was no animal with me except the animal on which I was riding.
  3. So I went out at night by the Valley Gate in the direction of the Dragon's Well and on to the Refuse Gate, inspecting the walls of Jerusalem which were broken down and its gates which were consumed by fire.
  4. Then I passed on to the Fountain Gate and the King's Pool, but there was no place for my mount to pass.
  5. So I went up at night by the ravine and inspected the wall. Then I entered the Valley Gate again and returned.
  1. 나는 예루살렘으로 가서 그 곳에 3일 동안 머물러 있으면서도
  2. 하나님께서 내 마음을 감동시키셔서 예루살렘을 위해 하게 하신 일을 아무에게도 말하지 않았다. 그 후에 나는 몇 사람과 함께 밤중에 일어나 밖으로 나갔는데 내가 탄 나귀 외에는 다른 사람이 탈 짐승이 없었다.
  3. 나는 서쪽의 골짜기문을 빠져나가 남쪽으로 가서 용의 우물이라는 곳을 지나 똥문으로 가면서 무너진 성벽과 불에 타버린 성문들을 일일이 조사하였다.
  4. 그런 다음 나는 동쪽으로 샘문과 왕의 못으로 갔으나 내가 탄 나귀가 지나갈 길이 없었다.
  5. 그래서 나는 기드론 골짜기를 따라 올라가면서 성벽을 조사한 다음 오던 길을 되돌아 골짜기문을 통해 성으로 돌아왔다.
  1. The officials did not know where I had gone or what I had done; nor had I as yet told the Jews, the priests, the nobles, the officials or the rest who did the work.
  2. Then I said to them, "You see the bad situation we are in, that Jerusalem is desolate and its gates burned by fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem so that we will no longer be a reproach."
  3. I told them how the hand of my God had been favorable to me and also about the king's words which he had spoken to me. Then they said, "Let us arise and build." So they put their hands to the good work.
  4. But when Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite official, and Geshem the Arab heard it, they mocked us and despised us and said, "What is this thing you are doing? Are you rebelling against the king?"
  5. So I answered them and said to them, "The God of heaven will give us success; therefore we His servants will arise and build, but you have no portion, right or memorial in Jerusalem."
  1. 하지만 그 성의 지도자들은 내가 어디 가서 무엇을 했는지 알지 못하였다. 이것은 내가 그때까지도 제사장들과 지도자들과 귀족들과 그 밖에 거기서 일하는 사람들에게 아무것도 말해 주지 않았기 때문이었다.
  2. 그 후에 나는 그들에게 이렇게 말하였다. '우리가 어떤 어려움에 처해 있는지는 여러분도 잘 아는 사실입니다. 예루살렘이 폐허가 되었고 그 성문들은 다 불타 버리고 말았습니다. 자, 예루살렘 성벽을 재건하여 더 이상 수치를 당하지 않도록 합시다.'
  3. 그리고서 나는 그들에게 하나님이 나를 도우신 일과 황제가 나에게 말한 것을 이야기해 주었다. 그러자 그들은 '재건 공사를 시작합시다.' 하고 그 일에 착수할 준비를 하였다.
  4. 그러나 호론 사람 산발랏과 정부 관리가 된 암몬 사람 도비야와 아라비아 사람 게셈이 이 말을 듣고 '무슨 일을 할 셈인가? 너희가 황제를 반역하려고 하느냐?' 하고 우리를 비웃고 조롱하였다.
  5. 그래서 나는 그들에게 이렇게 말하였다. '하늘의 하나님이 우리를 도우실 것이오. 우리는 그의 종이므로 이 성벽을 재건할 생각이오. 하지만 당신들은 예루살렘에 대하여 주장할 권리나 명분이 아무것도 없소'
