- 내가 자랑함으로 어리석은 사람이 되었으나 이것은 여러분이 그렇게 하도록 만든 것입니다. 나는 당연히 여러분에게 칭찬을 받았어야 했습니다. 내가 비록 보잘 것없는 사람이라 하더라도 저 위대하다는 사도들보다 조금도 못하지 않습니다.
- 내가 여러분 가운데서 모든 것을 참고 놀라운 일과 여러 가지 기적을 행한 것이 바로 내가 참 사도라는 것을 보여 주는 표인 것입니다.
- 내가 여러분에게 폐를 끼치지 않은 것을 제외하고 다른 교회에 비해 불공평하게 대한 것이 무엇입니까? 내가 여러분에게 부담을 주지 않은 이것이 잘못이라면 나를 용서해 주십시오.

- 내가 여러분에게 갈 때 서로 기대에 어긋나는 일이 생길까 염려됩니다. 다시 말하면 여러분 가운데 다툼과 시기와 분노와 당파 싸움과 비난과 험담과 교만과 소란이 있어서는 안되겠다는 말입니다.

- 내가 여러분에게 다시 갈 때 하나님이 여러분 앞에서 나를 낮추실까 두렵습니다. 그리고 전에 죄를 지은 여러 사람들이 그들의 더러움과 음란과 방탕을 아직도 회개하지 않고 있다면 내가 그들 때문에 슬퍼하지 않을까 염려됩니다.
