예레미야 11:1-12:17

 예레미야는 유다에게 임하게 된 형벌의 원인이 시내 산에서 맺은 언약을 어겼기 때문이라고 지적하여 백성들로부터 목숨의 위협을 받게 되었다. 이에 기도로 이 사실을 고하며 악한 백성들의 형통함을 항변한 예레미야에게 하나님께서는 죄의 형벌로 유다를 버리신 후 다시 회복시키실 것임을 말씀하셨다.
  
  언약에 근거한 형벌(11:1-11:17)    
 
  1. The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
  2. "Hear the words of this covenant, and speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;
  3. and say to them, 'Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, "Cursed is the man who does not heed the words of this covenant
  4. which I commanded your forefathers in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, 'Listen to My voice, and do according to all which I command you; so you shall be My people, and I will be your God,'
  5. in order to confirm the oath which I swore to your forefathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day "'" Then I said, "Amen, O LORD."
  1. 여호와께서 나에게 다시 말씀하셨다.
  2. '너는 이 계약의 말을 듣고 유다와 예루살렘 백성들에게 전하라.
  3. 너는 그들에게 이스라엘의 하나님 나 여호와가 이렇게 말한다고 일러라. 이 계약의 조건을 지키지 않는 자는 저주를 받을 것이다.
  4. 이 계약은 내가 너희 조상들을 용광로와 같은 이집트 땅에서 이끌어내던 때에 그들과 맺은 것이다. 그때 나는 그들에게 이렇게 말하였다. '너희는 나에게 순종하고 내가 명령할 것을 모두 준수하라. 그러면 너희는 내 백성이 되고 나는 너희 하나님이 될 것이다.'
  5. 그리고 나는 또 그들에게 기름지고 비옥한 땅을 주겠다는 내 약속을 지키기로 했는데 그것이 오늘날 너희가 소유한 바로 이 땅이다.' 그때 나는 '여호와여, 그렇습니다.' 하고 대답하였다.
  1. And the LORD said to me, "Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, 'Hear the words of this covenant and do them.
  2. 'For I solemnly warned your fathers in the day that I brought them up from the land of Egypt, even to this day, warning persistently, saying, "Listen to My voice."
  3. 'Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but walked, each one, in the stubbornness of his evil heart; therefore I brought on them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do, but they did not.'"
  4. Then the LORD said to me, "A conspiracy has been found among the men of Judah and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
  5. "They have turned back to the iniquities of their ancestors who refused to hear My words, and they have gone after other gods to serve them; the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken My covenant which I made with their fathers."
  1. 또 여호와께서 나에게 말씀하셨다. '너는 유다 성들과 예루살렘 거리에 내 말을 선포하라. 너희는 이 계약의 말을 듣고 행하라.
  2. 내가 너희 조상들을 이집트에서 이끌어내던 날부터 오늘날까지 나에게 순종하라고 그들에게 거듭 경고하였다.
  3. 그러나 그들은 듣지 않고 귀를 기울이지도 않았으며 오히려 그 마음의 악한 고집대로 행하였다. 그들이 내가 지키라고 명령한 계약을 지키지 않았기 때문에 나는 그 계약에 언급된 모든 형벌이 그들에게 그대로 이루어지도록 하였다.'
  4. 그런 다음 여호와께서 다시 나에게 말씀하셨다. '유다와 예루살렘 백성이 나를 반역하고 있다.
  5. 그들은 나에게 순종하기를 거절했던 그 조상들의 죄악으로 되돌아가서 다른 신들을 섬기고 내가 그들의 조상들과 맺은 계약을 다같이 어겼다.
  1. Therefore thus says the LORD, "Behold I am bringing disaster on them which they will not be able to escape; though they will cry to Me, yet I will not listen to them.
  2. "Then the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem will go and cry to the gods to whom they burn incense, but they surely will not save them in the time of their disaster.
  3. "For your gods are as many as your cities, O Judah; and as many as the streets of Jerusalem are the altars you have set up to the shameful thing, altars to burn incense to Baal.
  4. "Therefore do not pray for this people, nor lift up a cry or prayer for them; for I will not listen when they call to Me because of their disaster.
  5. "What right has My beloved in My house When she has done many vile deeds? Can the sacrificial flesh take away from you your disaster, So that you can rejoice?"
  1. 그러므로 나 여호와가 말한다. 보라, 내가 재앙을 그들에게 내릴 것이니 그들이 피할 수 없을 것이다. 그들이 나에게 부르짖어도 내가 듣지 않을 것이다.
  2. 그때 유다 성들과 예루살렘 백성이 자기들이 분향하던 신들에게 가서 부르짖어도 그 신들은 그들을 재앙에서 절대로 구해 내지 못할 것이다.
  3. 유다야, 네 신들이 네 성의 수만큼이나 많구나. 너희는 수치스러운 바알 신에게 분향할 단을 예루살렘 거리의 수만큼이나 많이 쌓았다.
  4. 그러므로 예레미야야, 너는 이 백성을 위해 기도하지 말며 그들을 위해 부르짖거나 간구하지 말아라. 그들이 고통 중에서 나에게 부르짖어도 내가 듣지 않을 것이다.
  5. 내 사랑하는 백성들은 더러운 짓을 많이 하고도 무슨 권리로 내 성전에 있는가? 서약이나 하고 희생제물을 바친다고 해서 그들이 재앙을 막을 수 있겠느냐? 그들이 악을 행하고서도 기뻐할 수 있겠느냐?
  1. The LORD called your name, "A green olive tree, beautiful in fruit and form"; With the noise of a great tumult He has kindled fire on it, And its branches are worthless.
  2. The LORD of hosts, who planted you, has pronounced evil against you because of the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done to provoke Me by offering up sacrifices to Baal.
  1. 나 여호와가 한때 그들을 아름다운 과실이 많이 맺힌 무성한 감람나무라고 불렀으나 이제는 내가 큰 우뢰 같은 소리를 내며 그 잎을 불사르고 그 가지를 꺾어 버렸다.
  2. 이스라엘과 유다 백성이 바알에게 분향함으로 악을 행하고 나의 분노를 일으켰으므로 그들을 심은 전능한 나 여호와가 재앙을 선언하였다.'
 
  예레미야 살해 음모(11:18-11:23)    
 
  1. Moreover, the LORD made it known to me and I knew it; Then You showed me their deeds.
  2. But I was like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter; And I did not know that they had devised plots against me, saying, "Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, And let us cut him off from the land of the living, That his name be remembered no more."
  3. But, O LORD of hosts, who judges righteously, Who tries the feelings and the heart, Let me see Your vengeance on them, For to You have I committed my cause.
  4. Therefore thus says the LORD concerning the men of Anathoth, who seek your life, saying, "Do not prophesy in the name of the LORD, so that you will not die at our hand";
  5. therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts, "Behold, I am about to punish them! The young men will die by the sword, their sons and daughters will die by famine;
  1. 여호와께서 내 대적들의 음모를 나에게 알려 주셨고 그들의 악한 소행을 나에게 보여 주셨다.
  2. 내가 죽을 줄도 모르고 도살장으로 끌려가는 순한 어린 양 같아서 그들이 나를 죽일 음모를 꾸며도 나는 몰랐다 그들은 '우리가 그 나무를 과실과 함께 죽여 버리자. 우리가 이 땅에서 그의 생명을 끊어 버리고 다시는 아무도 그를 기억하지 못하게 하자' 하였다.
  3. 그때 나는 이렇게 기도하였다. '의롭게 판단하시며 사람의 마음을 살피시는 전능하신 여호와여, 내가 이 문제를 주께 맡겼습니다. 그들이 주께 보복당하는 것을 내 눈으로 보게 하소서.'
  4. 그러자 여호와께서 아나돗 사람들에 대하여 말씀하셨다. '그들이 너를 죽이려고 위협하며 너는 여호와의 이름으로 예언하지 말아라. 그렇지 않으면 네가 우리 손에 죽고 말 것이다. 하고 말한다.
  5. 그러므로 전능한 나 여호와가 말한다. 보라, 내가 그들을 벌할 것이니 청년들은 전쟁으로 죽고 아이들은 굶어서 죽을 것이며
  1. and a remnant will not be left to them, for I will bring disaster on the men of Anathoth--the year of their punishment."
  1. 한 사람도 살아 남는 자가 없을 것이다. 이것은 내가 아나돗 사람들을 벌할 때에 그들에게 재앙을 내릴 것이기 때문이다.'
 
  항변과 답변(12:1-12:17)    
 
  1. Righteous are You, O LORD, that I would plead my case with You; Indeed I would discuss matters of justice with You: Why has the way of the wicked prospered? Why are all those who deal in treachery at ease?
  2. You have planted them, they have also taken root; They grow, they have even produced fruit You are near to their lips But far from their mind.
  3. But You know me, O LORD; You see me; And You examine my heart's attitude toward You Drag them off like sheep for the slaughter And set them apart for a day of carnage!
  4. How long is the land to mourn And the vegetation of the countryside to wither? For the wickedness of those who dwell in it, Animals and birds have been snatched away, Because men have said, "He will not see our latter ending."
  5. "If you have run with footmen and they have tired you out, Then how can you compete with horses? If you fall down in a land of peace, How will you do in the thicket of the Jordan?
  1. 여호와여, 내가 주와 논쟁한다고 해도 주는 의로우신 분이십니다. 그러나 내가 주께 한 가지 물어 보고 싶습니다. 악한 자가 잘되고 정직하지 못한 자가 성공하는 것은 무슨 이유입니까?
  2. 주께서 그들을 심으셨기 때문에 그들이 뿌리를 박고 자라 열매를 맺었습니다. 그런데도 그들은 입술로만 주를 가까이할 뿐 마음으로는 주를 멀리하고 있습니다.
  3. 여호와여, 주는 나를 아시고 또 나를 보고 계시며 주를 향하는 내 마음 자세를 살피고 계십니다. 양을 잡으려고 끌어내듯 이 악한 자들을 끌어내어 죽일 날을 위해 준비하소서.
  4. 언제까지 이 땅이 슬퍼하며 들의 모든 초목이 말라야 하겠습니까? 이 땅에 사는 사람들이 악하므로 짐승과 새들도 전멸하게 되었습니다. 더구나 그들은 '우리가 하는 일을 그는 보지 못한다.' 하고 말합니다.
  5. 여호와께서 나에게 대답하셨다. '네가 걸어다니는 사람과 함께 달려도 피곤하다면 어떻게 말과 경주를 하겠느냐? 네가 안전한 땅에서 비틀거린다면 요단의 숲에서는 어떻게 하겠느냐?
  1. "For even your brothers and the household of your father, Even they have dealt treacherously with you, Even they have cried aloud after you Do not believe them, although they may say nice things to you."
  2. "I have forsaken My house, I have abandoned My inheritance; I have given the beloved of My soul Into the hand of her enemies.
  3. "My inheritance has become to Me Like a lion in the forest; She has roared against Me; Therefore I have come to hate her.
  4. "Is My inheritance like a speckled bird of prey to Me? Are the birds of prey against her on every side? Go, gather all the beasts of the field, Bring them to devour!
  5. "Many shepherds have ruined My vineyard, They have trampled down My field; They have made My pleasant field A desolate wilderness.
  1. 네 형제들과 네 가족까지도 너를 배신하고 너에게 큰 소리를 지른다. 그들이 너에게 좋은 말을 하여도 너는 그들을 믿지 말아라.'
  2. 여호와께서 말씀하신다. '내가 내 집을 버리며 나의 택한 민족을 내던지고 나의 사랑하는 백성을 대적의 손에 넘겨주었다.
  3. 나의 택한 백성이 숲속의 사자처럼 나를 향해 소리를 지르므로 내가 그들을 미워한다.
  4. 내 백성이 매에게 사방 공격을 당한 새처럼 되었다. 너희는 들짐승을 모아다가 그것을 삼키게 하라.
  5. 많은 외국 통치자들이 내 포도원을 못쓰게 만들고 내 밭을 짓밟고 내가 좋아하는 땅을 황무지로 만들었다.
  1. "It has been made a desolation, Desolate, it mourns before Me; The whole land has been made desolate, Because no man lays it to heart.
  2. "On all the bare heights in the wilderness Destroyers have come, For a sword of the LORD is devouring From one end of the land even to the other; There is no peace for anyone.
  3. "They have sown wheat and have reaped thorns, They have strained themselves to no profit But be ashamed of your harvest Because of the fierce anger of the LORD."
  4. Thus says the LORD concerning all My wicked neighbors who strike at the inheritance with which I have endowed My people Israel, "Behold I am about to uproot them from their land and will uproot the house of Judah from among them.
  5. "And it will come about that after I have uprooted them, I will again have compassion on them; and I will bring them back, each one to his inheritance and each one to his land.
  1. 그들이 그 땅을 황무지가 된 채 그대로 내버려 두어 온 땅이 황폐해졌으나 그것을 애석하게 여기는 자가 없다.
  2. 광야의 모든 높은 곳에 파괴자들이 이르렀다. 내가 온 땅을 삼켜 버릴 칼을 보낼 것이니 아무도 평안하게 살 수 없을 것이다.
  3. 내 백성들이 밀을 심어도 가시를 거두며 열심히 일하여도 얻는 것이 없을 것이다. 나 여호와의 분노 때문에 그들은 자기들이 추수한 것에 대하여 부끄러움을 느낄 것이다.'
  4. 여호와께서 말씀하신다. '내가 내 백성 이스라엘에게 준 땅을 해치는 모든 인접 국가들에 대하여 나 여호와가 말한다. 보라, 내가 그 악한 민족들을 그들의 땅에서 뽑아 버리고 그들에게서 유다를 구출하겠다.
  5. 그러나 내가 그들을 뽑아 버린 후에 그들을 불쌍히 여겨 각각 자기 나라, 자기 땅으로 인도하겠다.
  1. "Then if they will really learn the ways of My people, to swear by My name, 'As the LORD lives,' even as they taught My people to swear by Baal, they will be built up in the midst of My people.
  2. "But if they will not listen, then I will uproot that nation, uproot and destroy it," declares the LORD.
  1. 만일 그들이 내 백성의 신앙을 받아들이고 한때 그들이 내 백성에게 바알로 맹세하라고 가르친 것처럼 나를 그들의 하나님으로 섬기겠다고 맹세하면 그들도 내 백성과 같이 되어 번영을 누릴 것이다.
  2. 그러나 나에게 복종하지 않는 나라는 내가 뿌리째 뽑아버리고 멸절해 버릴 것이다. 이것은 나 여호와의 말이다.'
