- Do not speak in the hearing of a fool, For he will despise the wisdom of your words.
- Do not move the ancient boundary Or go into the fields of the fatherless,
- For their Redeemer is strong; He will plead their case against you.
- Apply your heart to discipline And your ears to words of knowledge.
- Do not hold back discipline from the child, Although you strike him with the rod, he will not die.

- 미련한 자에게 말하지 말아라. 그는 너의 지혜로운 말을 업신여길 것이다.
- 옛 경계석을 옮기지 말며 고아들의 밭을 침범하지 말아라.
- 그들의 구원자가 되시는 여호와는 강하시니 그가 너를 대적하여 그들의 억울함을 풀어 주실 것이다.
- 가르침에 유의하며 지식의 말씀에 귀를 기울여라.
- 자식을 훈계하는 데 주저하지 말아라. 채찍으로 때려도 죽지 않는다.

- You shall strike him with the rod And rescue his soul from Sheol.
- My son, if your heart is wise, My own heart also will be glad;
- And my inmost being will rejoice When your lips speak what is right.
- Do not let your heart envy sinners, But live in the fear of the LORD always.
- Surely there is a future, And your hope will not be cut off.

- 오히려 그를 채찍으로 벌하면 그의 영혼을 죽음에서 구하게 된다.
- 내 아들아, 네가 지혜로우면 내 마음이 기쁠 것이며
- 네가 옳은 말을 하면 내가 정말 즐거워할 것이다.
- 너는 죄인을 부러워하지 말고 두려운 마음으로 여호와를 섬기는 일에 항상 열심을 다하여라.
- 분명히 너에게 밝은 미래가 있을 것이며 너의 희망이 끊어지지 않을 것이다.
