	창세기 20:1-21:34 아브라함이 그랄에 거주할 때 아비멜렉이 사라를 취하자 하나님께서 그에게 현몽하셔서 사라를 보낼 것을 명령하셨다. 이에 아비멜렉은 많은 재물과 함께 사라를 돌려보냈다. 하나님께서 약속하신 기한이 이르러 사라가 이삭을 낳았다. 이스마엘이 이삭을 희롱하는 사건이 벌어지자 하나님께서는 아브라함으로 하여금 하갈과 이스마엘을 내쫓게 하셨다.

	아브라함과 아비멜렉(20:1-20:18)

Now Abraham journeyed from there toward the land of the Negev, and settled between Kadesh and Shur; then he sojourned in Gerar.

Abraham said of Sarah his wife, "She is my sister " So Abimelech king of Gerar sent and took Sarah.

But God came to Abimelech in a dream of the night, and said to him, "Behold, you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is married."

Now Abimelech had not come near her; and he said, "Lord, will You slay a nation, even though blameless?

"Did he not himself say to me, 'She is my sister'? And she herself said, 'He is my brother ' In the integrity of my heart and the innocence of my hands I have done this."

아브라함은 마므레에서 네겝 지역으로 옮겨 가서, 가데스와 수르 사이에서 살았다. 아브라함은 그랄에 잠시 머문 적이 있는데,

거기에서 아브라함이 자기 아내 사라를 사람들에게 자기 누이라 소개하였으므로, 그랄 왕 아비멜렉이 사람을 보내서, 사라를 데려갔다.

그런데 그 날 밤에 하나님이 꿈에 아비멜렉에게 나타나셔서 말씀하셨다. "네가 이 여자를 데려왔으니, 너는 곧 죽는다. 이 여자는 남편이 있는 여자다."

아비멜렉은, 아직 그 여인에게 가까이하지 않았으므로, 주님께 이렇게 아뢰었다. "주님, 주님께서 의로운 한 민족을 멸하시렵니까?

아브라함이 저에게, 이 여인은 자기 누이라고 하지 않았습니까? 또 이 여인도 아브라함을 오라버니라고 말하지 않았습니까? 저는 깨끗한 마음으로 떳떳하게 이 일을 하였습니다."

Then God said to him in the dream, "Yes, I know that in the integrity of your heart you have done this, and I also kept you from sinning against Me; therefore I did not let you touch her.

"Now therefore, restore the man's wife, for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you will live. But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours."

So Abimelech arose early in the morning and called all his servants and told all these things in their hearing; and the men were greatly frightened.

Then Abimelech called Abraham and said to him, "What have you done to us? And how have I sinned against you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done to me things that ought not to be done."

And Abimelech said to Abraham, "What have you encountered, that you have done this thing?"

하나님이 꿈에 또 그에게 말씀하셨다. "그렇다. 나는, 네가 깨끗한 마음으로 이렇게 한 줄을 잘 안다. 그러므로 내가 너를 지켜서, 네가 나에게 죄를 짓지 못하도록 한 것이다. 그 여인을 건드리지 못하게 한 이유도 바로 여기에 있다.

이제 그 여인을 남편에게로 돌려보내어라. 그의 남편은 예언자이므로, 너에게 탈이 나지 않게 하여 달라고 기도할 것이고, 너는 살 것이다. 그러나 그 여인을 돌려보내지 않으면, 너와 너에게 속한 사람들이 틀림없이 다 죽을 줄 알아라."

다음날 아침에 아비멜렉은 일찍 일어나서, 신하들을 다 불렀다. 그들은 왕에게 일어난 일을 다 듣고서, 매우 두려워하였다.

아비멜렉은 아브라함을 불러들여서, 호통을 쳤다. "당신은 어찌하여 우리에게 이렇게 하였소? 내가 당신에게 무슨 잘못을 저질렀기에, 나와 내 나라가 이 크나큰 죄에 빠질 뻔하게 하였느냐 말이오? 당신은 나에게 해서는 안 될 일을 한 거요."

아비멜렉이 또 아브라함에게 말하였다. "도대체 어째서 이런 일을 저지른단 말이오?"

Abraham said, "Because I thought, surely there is no fear of God in this place, and they will kill me because of my wife.

"Besides, she actually is my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother, and she became my wife;

and it came about, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said to her, 'This is the kindness which you will show to me: everywhere we go, say of me, "He is my brother."'"

Abimelech then took sheep and oxen and male and female servants, and gave them to Abraham, and restored his wife Sarah to him.

Abimelech said, "Behold, my land is before you; settle wherever you please."

아브라함이 대답하였다. "이 곳에서는 사람들이 아무도 하나님을 두려워하지 않으니까, 나의 아내를 빼앗으려고 할 때에는, 사람들이 나를 죽일 것이라고 생각하였습니다.

그러나 사실을 말씀드리면, 나의 아내가 나의 누이라는 것이 틀린 말은 아닙니다. 아내는 나와는 어머니는 다르지만 아버지는 같은 이복 누이이기 때문입니다.

하나님이 나를, 아버지 집에서 떠나서 여러 나라로 두루 다니게 하실 때에, 내가 아내에게 부탁한 말이 있습니다. '우리가 어느 곳으로 가든지, 사람들이 나를 두고서 묻거든, 그대는 나를 오라버니라고 하시오. 이것이 그대가 나에게 베풀 수 있는 은혜요' 하고 말한 바 있습니다."

아비멜렉이 아브라함에게 양 떼와 소 떼와 남종과 여종을 선물로 주고, 아내 사라도 아브라함에게 돌려보냈다.

아비멜렉이 아브라함에게 말하였다. "나의 땅이 당신 앞에 있으니, 원하는 곳이 어디이든지, 가서, 거기에서 자리를 잡으시오."

To Sarah he said, "Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver; behold, it is your vindication before all who are with you, and before all men you are cleared."

Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech and his wife and his maids, so that they bore children.

For the LORD had closed fast all the wombs of the household of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham's wife.

그리고 사라에게는 이렇게 말하였다. "나는 그대의 오라버니에게 은 천 세겔을 주었소. 이것은, 그대와 함께 있는 여러 사람에게서 그대가 받은 부끄러움을 조금이나마 덜어보려는 나의 성의의 표시요. 그대가 결백하다는 것을, 모두가 알게 될 것이오."

아브라함이 하나님께 기도하니, 하나님이, 아비멜렉과 그의 아내와 그의 여종들이 다시 아이를 가질 수 있도록 태를 열어 주셨다.

아비멜렉이 아브라함의 아내 사라를 데려간 일로, 주님께서는 전에 아비멜렉 집안의 모든 여자의 태를 닫으셨었다.

	이삭의 출생(21:1-21:34)

Then the LORD took note of Sarah as He had said, and the LORD did for Sarah as He had promised.

So Sarah conceived and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the appointed time of which God had spoken to him.

Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him, whom Sarah bore to him, Isaac.

Then Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.

Now Abraham was one hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.

주님께서는 말씀하신 대로 사라를 돌보셨다. 사라에게 약속하신 것을 주님께서 그대로 이루시니,

사라가 임신하였고, 하나님이 아브라함에게 약속하신 바로 그 때가 되니, 사라와 늙은 아브라함 사이에서 아들이 태어났다.

아브라함은 사라가 낳아 준 아들에게 이삭이라는 이름을 지어 주었다.

이삭이 태어난 지 여드레 만에, 아브라함은, 하나님이 분부하신 대로, 그 아기에게 할례를 베풀었다.

아브라함이 아들 이삭을 보았을 때에, 그의 나이는 백 살이었다.

Sarah said, "God has made laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh with me."

And she said, "Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age."

The child grew and was weaned, and Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned.

Now Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, mocking.

Therefore she said to Abraham, "Drive out this maid and her son, for the son of this maid shall not be an heir with my son Isaac."

사라가 혼자서 말하였다. "하나님이 나에게 웃음을 주셨구나. 나와 같은 늙은이가 아들을 낳았다고 하면, 듣는 사람마다 나처럼 웃지 않을 수 없겠지."

그는 말을 계속하였다. "사라가 자식들에게 젖을 물리게 될 것이라고, 누가 아브라함에게 말할 엄두를 내었으랴? 그러나 내가 지금, 늙은 아브라함에게 아들을 낳아 주지 않았는가!"

아기가 자라서, 젖을 떼게 되었다. 이삭이 젖을 떼는 날에, 아브라함이 큰 잔치를 벌였다.

그런데 사라가 보니, 이집트 여인 하갈과 아브라함 사이에서 태어난 아들이 이삭을 놀리고 있었다.

사라가 아브라함에게 말하였다. "저 여종과 그 아들을 내보내십시오. 저 여종의 아들은 나의 아들 이삭과 유산을 나누어 가질 수 없습니다."

The matter distressed Abraham greatly because of his son.

But God said to Abraham, "Do not be distressed because of the lad and your maid; whatever Sarah tells you, listen to her, for through Isaac your descendants shall be named.

"And of the son of the maid I will make a nation also, because he is your descendant."

So Abraham rose early in the morning and took bread and a skin of water and gave them to Hagar, putting them on her shoulder, and gave her the boy, and sent her away. And she departed and wandered about in the wilderness of Beersheba.

When the water in the skin was used up, she left the boy under one of the bushes.

그러나 아브라함은, 그 아들도 자기 아들이므로, 이 일로 마음이 몹시 괴로웠다.

하나님이 그에게 말씀하셨다. "그 아들과 그 어머니인 여종의 일로 너무 걱정하지 말아라. 이삭에게서 태어나는 사람이 너의 씨가 될 것이니, 사라가 너에게 말한 대로 다 들어 주어라.

그러나 여종에게서 난 아들도 너의 씨니, 그 아들은 그 아들대로, 내가 한 민족이 되게 하겠다."

다음날 아침에 일찍, 아브라함은 먹거리 얼마와 물 한 가죽부대를 가져다가, 하갈에게 주었다. 그는 먹거리와 마실 물을 하갈의 어깨에 메워 주고서, 그를 아이와 함께 내보냈다. 하갈은 길을 나서서, 브엘세바 빈 들에서 정처없이 헤매고 다녔다.

가죽부대에 담아 온 물이 다 떨어지니, 하갈은 아이를 덤불 아래에 뉘어 놓고서

Then she went and sat down opposite him, about a bowshot away, for she said, "Do not let me see the boy die." And she sat opposite him, and lifted up her voice and wept.

God heard the lad crying; and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, "What is the matter with you, Hagar? Do not fear, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is.

"Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him by the hand, for I will make a great nation of him."

Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water; and she went and filled the skin with water and gave the lad a drink.

God was with the lad, and he grew; and he lived in the wilderness and became an archer.

"아이가 죽어 가는 꼴을 차마 볼 수가 없구나!" 하면서, 화살 한 바탕 거리만큼 떨어져서, 주저앉았다. 그 여인은 아이 쪽을 바라보고 앉아서, 소리를 내어 울었다.

하나님이 그 아이가 우는 소리를 들으셨다. 하늘에서 하나님의 천사가 하갈을 부르며 말하였다. "하갈아, 어찌 된 일이냐? 무서워하지 말아라. 아이가 저기에 누워서 우는 저 소리를 하나님이 들으셨다.

아이를 안아 일으키고, 달래어라. 내가 저 아이에게서 큰 민족이 나오게 하겠다."

하나님이 하갈의 눈을 밝히시니, 하갈이 샘을 발견하고, 가서, 가죽부대에 물을 담아다가 아이에게 먹였다.

그 아이가 자라는 동안에, 하나님이 그 아이와 늘 함께 계시면서 돌보셨다. 그는 광야에 살면서, 활을 쏘는 사람이 되었다.

He lived in the wilderness of Paran, and his mother took a wife for him from the land of Egypt.

Now it came about at that time that Abimelech and Phicol, the commander of his army, spoke to Abraham, saying, "God is with you in all that you do;

now therefore, swear to me here by God that you will not deal falsely with me or with my offspring or with my posterity, but according to the kindness that I have shown to you, you shall show to me and to the land in which you have sojourned."

Abraham said, "I swear it."

But Abraham complained to Abimelech because of the well of water which the servants of Abimelech had seized.

그가 바란 광야에서 살 때에, 그의 어머니가 그에게 이집트 땅에 사는 여인을 데려가서, 아내로 삼게 하였다.

그 무렵에 아비멜렉과 그의 군사령관 비골이 아브라함에게 말하였다. "하나님은, 당신이 무슨 일을 하든지, 당신을 도우십니다.

이제 여기 하나님 앞에서, 당신이 나와 나의 아이들과 나의 자손을 속이지 않겠다고 맹세하십시오. 당신이 나그네살이를 하는 우리 땅에서, 내가 당신에게 한 것처럼, 당신도 나와 이 땅 사람들에게 친절을 베풀어 주시기 바랍니다."

아브라함이 말하였다. "맹세합니다."

이렇게 말하고 나서, 아브라함은, 아비멜렉의 종들이 우물을 빼앗은 것을 아비멜렉에게 항의하였다.

And Abimelech said, "I do not know who has done this thing; you did not tell me, nor did I hear of it until today."

Abraham took sheep and oxen and gave them to Abimelech, and the two of them made a covenant.

Then Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves.

Abimelech said to Abraham, "What do these seven ewe lambs mean, which you have set by themselves?"

He said, "You shall take these seven ewe lambs from my hand so that it may be a witness to me, that I dug this well."

그러나 아비멜렉은 이렇게 말하였다. "누가 그런 일을 저질렀는지, 나는 모릅니다. 당신도 그런 말을 여태까지 나에게 하지 않았습니다. 나는 그 일을 겨우 오늘에 와서야 들었습니다."

아브라함이 양과 소를 끌고 와서, 아비멜렉에게 주고, 두 사람이 서로 언약을 세웠다.

아브라함이 양 떼에서 새끼 암양 일곱 마리를 따로 떼어 놓으니,

아비멜렉이 아브라함에게 물었다. "새끼 암양 일곱 마리를 따로 떼어 놓은 까닭이 무엇입니까?"

아브라함이 대답하였다. "내가 이 우물을 파 놓은 증거로, 이 새끼 암양 일곱 마리를 드리려고 합니다."

Therefore he called that place Beersheba, because there the two of them took an oath.

So they made a covenant at Beersheba; and Abimelech and Phicol, the commander of his army, arose and returned to the land of the Philistines.

Abraham planted a tamarisk tree at Beersheba, and there he called on the name of the LORD, the Everlasting God.

And Abraham sojourned in the land of the Philistines for many days.

이 두 사람이 여기에서 이렇게 맹세를 하였으므로, 그 곳을 브엘세바라고 한다.

아브라함과 아비멜렉이 브엘세바에서 언약을 세운 다음에, 아비멜렉과 그의 군사령관 비골은 블레셋 사람의 땅으로 돌아갔다.

아브라함은 브엘세바에 에셀 나무를 심고, 거기에서, 영생하시는 주 하나님의 이름을 부르며 예배를 드렸다.

아브라함은 오랫동안 블레셋 족속의 땅에 머물러 있었다.

	권고(眷顧, 21:1) ‘방문하다’라는 뜻으로, 하나님께서 약속을 이루기 위해 사라를 방문하신 것을 의미한다

	늑탈(勒奪, 21:25) 남의 것을 억지로 빼앗음
