- Then they set out from Elim, and all the congregation of the sons of Israel came to the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departure from the land of Egypt.
- The whole congregation of the sons of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness.
- The sons of Israel said to them, "Would that we had died by the LORD'S hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread to the full; for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger."
- Then the LORD said to Moses, "Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day, that I may test them, whether or not they will walk in My instruction.
- "On the sixth day, when they prepare what they bring in, it will be twice as much as they gather daily."

- 이스라엘 자손의 온 회중이 엘림에서 떠나, 엘림과 시내 산 사이에 있는 신 광야에 이르렀다. 이집트 땅에서 나온 뒤, 둘째 달 보름이 되던 날이다.
- 이스라엘 자손의 온 회중이 그 광야에서 모세와 아론을 원망하였다.
- 이스라엘 자손이 그들에게 항의하였다. "차라리 우리가 이집트 땅 거기 고기 가마 곁에 앉아 배불리 음식을 먹던 그 때에, 누가 우리를 주님의 손에 넘겨 주어서 죽게 했더라면 더 좋을 뻔 하였습니다. 그런데 당신들은 지금 우리를 이 광야로 끌고 나와서, 이 모든 회중을 다 굶어 죽게 하고 있습니다."
- 주님께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "너희가 먹을 것을 하늘에서 비처럼 내려 줄 터이니, 백성이 날마다 나가서, 그날 그날 먹을 만큼 거두어들이게 하여라. 이렇게 하여, 그들이 나의 지시를 따르는지, 따르지 않는지 시험하여 보겠다.
- 매주 엿샛날에는, 거두어들인 것으로 먹거리를 준비하다 보면, 날마다 거두던 것의 두 배가 될 것이다."

- So Moses and Aaron said to all the sons of Israel, "At evening you will know that the LORD has brought you out of the land of Egypt;
- and in the morning you will see the glory of the LORD, for He hears your grumblings against the LORD; and what are we, that you grumble against us?"
- Moses said, "This will happen when the LORD gives you meat to eat in the evening, and bread to the full in the morning; for the LORD hears your grumblings which you grumble against Him. And what are we? Your grumblings are not against us but against the LORD."
- Then Moses said to Aaron, "Say to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, 'Come near before the LORD, for He has heard your grumblings.'"
- It came about as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the sons of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud.

- 모세와 아론이 모든 이스라엘 자손에게 말하였다. "저녁이 되면, 당신들은 이집트 땅에서 당신들을 이끌어 내신 분이 주님이시라는 것을 알게 될 것입니다.
- 당신들이 우리를 보고 원망한 것이 아니라, 주님을 원망하였습니다. 주님께서 당신들이 주님을 원망하는 소리를 들으셨습니다. 이제 아침이 되면, 당신들이 주님의 영광을 보게 될 것입니다. 우리가 무엇이라고, 당신들이 우리를 보고 원망하십니까?"
- 또 모세가 말하였다. "주님께서 저녁에는 당신들에게 먹을 고기를 주시고, 아침에는 배불리 먹을 빵을 주실 것입니다. 주님께서는, 당신들이 주님을 원망하는 소리를 들으셨습니다. 당신들이 하는 원망은 우리에게 하는 것이 아니라, 주님께 하는 것입니다."
- 모세가 아론에게 말하였다. "주님께서 이스라엘 자손이 원망하는 소리를 들으셨으니, 이스라엘 자손의 온 회중에게 주님 앞으로 가까이 나아오라고 일러주십시오."
- 아론이 이스라엘 자손의 온 회중에게 말할 때에, 그들이 광야를 바라보니, 주님의 영광이 구름 속에 나타났다.

- And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
- "I have heard the grumblings of the sons of Israel; speak to them, saying, 'At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread; and you shall know that I am the LORD your God.'"
- So it came about at evening that the quails came up and covered the camp, and in the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp.
- When the layer of dew evaporated, behold, on the surface of the wilderness there was a fine flake-like thing, fine as the frost on the ground.
- When the sons of Israel saw it, they said to one another, "What is it?" For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, "It is the bread which the LORD has given you to eat.

- 주님께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.
- "나는 이스라엘 자손이 원망하는 소리를 들었다. 너는 그들에게 '너희가 저녁이 되면 고기를 먹고, 아침에는 빵을 배불리 먹을 것이다. 그렇게 될 때에 너희는 나 주가 너희의 하나님임을 알게 될 것이다' 하고 말하여라."
- 그 날 저녁에 메추라기가 날아와서 진 친 곳을 뒤덮었고, 다음날 아침에는 진 친 곳 둘레에 안개가 자욱하였다.
- 안개가 걷히고 나니, 이럴 수가, 광야 지면에, 마치 땅 위의 서리처럼 보이는, 가는 싸라기 같은 것이 덮여 있는 것이 아닌가!
- 이스라엘 자손이 그것을 보고, 그것이 무엇인지 몰라서, 서로 "이게 무엇이냐?" 하고 물었다. 모세가 그들에게 말하였다. "이것은 주님께서 당신들에게 먹으라고 주신 양식입니다.

- "This is what the LORD has commanded, 'Gather of it every man as much as he should eat; you shall take an omer apiece according to the number of persons each of you has in his tent.'"
- The sons of Israel did so, and some gathered much and some little.
- When they measured it with an omer, he who had gathered much had no excess, and he who had gathered little had no lack; every man gathered as much as he should eat.
- Moses said to them, "Let no man leave any of it until morning."
- But they did not listen to Moses, and some left part of it until morning, and it bred worms and became foul; and Moses was angry with them.

- 주님께서 당신들에게 명하시기를, 당신들은 각자 먹을 만큼씩만 거두라고 하셨습니다. 당신들 각 사람은, 자기 장막 안에 있는 식구 수대로, 식구 한 명에 한 오멜씩 거두라고 하셨습니다."
- 이스라엘 자손이 그대로 하니, 많이 거두는 사람도 있고, 적게 거두는 사람도 있었으나,
- 오멜로 되어 보면, 많이 거둔 사람도 남지 않고, 적게 거둔 사람도 모자라지 않았다. 그들은 제각기 먹을 만큼씩 거두어들인 것이다.
- 모세가 그들에게 아무도 아침까지 그것을 남겨 두지 말라고 하였다.
- 그런데 어떤 사람들은 모세의 말을 듣지 않고, 아침까지 그것을 남겨 두었다. 그랬더니, 남겨 둔 것에서는 벌레가 생기고 악취가 풍겼다. 모세가 그들에게 몹시 화를 내었다.

- They gathered it morning by morning, every man as much as he should eat; but when the sun grew hot, it would melt.
- Now on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one When all the leaders of the congregation came and told Moses,
- then he said to them, "This is what the LORD meant: Tomorrow is a sabbath observance, a holy sabbath to the LORD Bake what you will bake and boil what you will boil, and all that is left over put aside to be kept until morning."
- So they put it aside until morning, as Moses had ordered, and it did not become foul nor was there any worm in it.
- Moses said, "Eat it today, for today is a sabbath to the LORD; today you will not find it in the field.

- 그래서 그들은 아침마다 자기들이 먹을 만큼씩만 거두었다. 해가 뜨겁게 쪼이면, 그것은 다 녹아 버렸다.

- "Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day, the sabbath, there will be none."
- It came about on the seventh day that some of the people went out to gather, but they found none.
- Then the LORD said to Moses, "How long do you refuse to keep My commandments and My instructions?
- "See, the LORD has given you the sabbath; therefore He gives you bread for two days on the sixth day. Remain every man in his place; let no man go out of his place on the seventh day."
- So the people rested on the seventh day.

- 당신들이 엿새 동안은 그것을 거둘 것이나, 이렛날은 안식일이니, 그 날에는 거두어들일 것이 없을 것입니다."
- 모세가 이렇게 말하였는데도, 백성 가운데서 어떤 사람은 이렛날에도 그것을 거두러 나갔다. 그러나 아무것도 얻지 못하였다.
- 그 때에 주님께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "너희가 언제까지 나의 명령과 나의 지시를 지키지 않으려느냐?
- 내가 너희에게 안식일을 주었으니, 엿샛날에는 내가 너희에게 양식 이틀치를 준다. 그러니 이렛날에는 아무도 집을 떠나 밖으로 나가서는 안 된다. 너희는 이것을 명심하여야 한다."
- 그리하여 백성이 이렛날에는 안식하였다.

- The house of Israel named it manna, and it was like coriander seed, white, and its taste was like wafers with honey.
- Then Moses said, "This is what the LORD has commanded, 'Let an omerful of it be kept throughout your generations, that they may see the bread that I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.'"
- Moses said to Aaron, "Take a jar and put an omerful of manna in it, and place it before the LORD to be kept throughout your generations."
- As the LORD commanded Moses, so Aaron placed it before the Testimony, to be kept.
- The sons of Israel ate the manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land; they ate the manna until they came to the border of the land of Canaan.

- 이스라엘 사람은 그것을 만나라고 하였다. 그것은 고수 씨처럼 하얗고, 그 맛은 꿀 섞은 과자와 같다.
- 모세가 말하였다. "주님께서 명하신 말씀입니다. '너희는 이것을 한 오멜씩 가득 담아 간수하여, 내가 너희를 이집트 땅에서 인도하여 낼 때에, 광야에서 너희에게 주어 먹게 한 이 먹거리를 너희의 자손 대대로 볼 수 있게 하여라.'"
- 모세가 아론에게 말하였다. "항아리 하나를 가져 와서, 거기에 만나 한 오멜을 담아 가지고 주님 앞에 두어서, 대대로 간수하게 하여 주십시오."
- 그래서 아론은, 주님께서 모세에게 명하신 대로, 그것을 증거판 앞에 두고서, 늘 거기에 있게 하였다.
- 이스라엘 자손은 정착지에 이를 때까지 사십 년 동안 만나를 먹었다. 가나안 땅 접경에 이를 때까지 만나를 먹었다.
