- Then they sailed to the country of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee.
- And when He came out onto the land, He was met by a man from the city who was possessed with demons; and who had not put on any clothing for a long time, and was not living in a house, but in the tombs.
- Seeing Jesus, he cried out and fell before Him, and said in a loud voice, "What business do we have with each other, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You, do not torment me."
- For He had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For it had seized him many times; and he was bound with chains and shackles and kept under guard, and yet he would break his bonds and be driven by the demon into the desert.
- And Jesus asked him, "What is your name?" And he said, "Legion"; for many demons had entered him.

- 그들은 갈릴리 맞은 편에 있는 거라사 지방에 닿았다.
- 예수께서 뭍에 내리시니, 그 마을 출신으로서 귀신 들린 사람 하나가 예수를 만났다. 그는 오랫동안 옷을 입지 않은 채, 집에서 살지 않고, 무덤에서 지내고 있었다.
- 그가 예수를 보고, 소리를 지르고서, 그 앞에 엎드려서, 큰 소리로 말하였다. "더없이 높으신 하나님의 아들 예수님, 당신이 나와 무슨 상관이 있습니까? 제발 나를 괴롭히지 마십시오."
- 예수께서 이미 악한 귀신더러 그 사람에게서 나가라고 명하셨던 것이다. 귀신이 여러 번 그 사람을 붙잡았기 때문에, 사람들이 그를 쇠사슬과 쇠고랑으로 묶어서 감시하였으나, 그는 그것을 끊고, 귀신에게 몰려서 광야로 뛰쳐나가곤 하였다.
- 예수께서 그에게 물으셨다. "네 이름이 무엇이냐?" 그가 대답하였다. "군대입니다." 많은 귀신이 그 사람 속에 들어가 있었기 때문이다.

- They were imploring Him not to command them to go away into the abyss.
- Now there was a herd of many swine feeding there on the mountain; and the demons implored Him to permit them to enter the swine. And He gave them permission.
- And the demons came out of the man and entered the swine; and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned.
- When the herdsmen saw what had happened, they ran away and reported it in the city and out in the country.
- The people went out to see what had happened; and they came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting down at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind; and they became frightened.

- 귀신들은 자기들을 지옥에 보내지 말아달라고 예수께 간청하였다.
- 마침 그 곳 산기슭에, 놓아 기르는 큰 돼지 떼가 있었다. 귀신들은 자기들을 그 돼지들 속으로 들어가게 허락해 달라고 예수께 간청하였다. 예수께서 허락하시니,
- 귀신들이 그 사람에게서 나와서, 돼지들 속으로 들어갔다. 그래서 그 돼지 떼는 비탈을 내리달아서 호수에 빠져서 죽었다.
- 돼지를 치던 사람들이 이 일을 보고, 도망가서 읍내와 촌에 알렸다.
- 그래서 사람들이 일어난 그 일을 보러 나왔다. 그들은 예수께로 와서, 귀신들이 나가버린 그 사람이 옷을 입고 제정신이 들어서 예수의 발 앞에 앉아 있는 것을 보고, 두려워하였다.

- Those who had seen it reported to them how the man who was demon-possessed had been made well.
- And all the people of the country of the Gerasenes and the surrounding district asked Him to leave them, for they were gripped with great fear; and He got into a boat and returned.
- But the man from whom the demons had gone out was begging Him that he might accompany Him; but He sent him away, saying,
- "Return to your house and describe what great things God has done for you." So he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.

- 처음부터 지켜본 사람들이, 귀신 들렸던 사람이 어떻게 해서 낫게 되었는가를 그들에게 알려 주었다.
- 그러자 거라사 주위의 고을 주민들은 모두 예수께, 자기들에게서 떠나 달라고 간청하였다. 그들이 큰 두려움에 사로잡혔기 때문이다. 그래서 예수께서는 배에 올라 되돌아가시는데,
- 귀신이 나간 그 사람이 예수와 함께 있게 해 달라고 애원하였으나, 예수께서는 그를 돌려보내시며 이렇게 말씀하셨다.
- "네 집으로 돌아가서, 하나님께서 네게 하신 일을 다 이야기하여라." 그 사람이 떠나가서, 예수께서 자기에게 하신 일을 낱낱이 온 읍내에 알렸다.
