- Pilate summoned the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
- and said to them, "You brought this man to me as one who incites the people to rebellion, and behold, having examined Him before you, I have found no guilt in this man regarding the charges which you make against Him.
- "No, nor has Herod, for he sent Him back to us; and behold, nothing deserving death has been done by Him.
- "Therefore I will punish Him and release Him."
- [Now he was obliged to release to them at the feast one prisoner.]

- 빌라도는 대제사장들과 지도자들과 백성을 불러모아 놓고서,
- 그들에게 말하였다. "그대들은, 이 사람이 백성을 오도한다고 하여 내게로 끌고 왔으나, 보다시피, 내가 그대들 앞에서 친히 신문하여 보았지만, 그대들이 고발한 것과 같은 죄목은 아무것도 이 사람에게서 찾지 못하였소.
- 헤롯도 또한 그것을 찾지 못하고, 그를 우리에게 돌려보낸 것이오. 이 사람은 사형을 받을 만한 일을 하나도 저지르지 않았소.
- 그러므로 나는 이 사람을 매질이나 하고, 놓아주겠소."

- But they cried out all together, saying, "Away with this man, and release for us Barabbas!"
- (He was one who had been thrown into prison for an insurrection made in the city, and for murder.)
- Pilate, wanting to release Jesus, addressed them again,
- but they kept on calling out, saying, "Crucify, crucify Him!"
- And he said to them the third time, "Why, what evil has this man done? I have found in Him no guilt demanding death; therefore I will punish Him and release Him."

- 그러나 그들이 일제히 소리 질러 말하였다. "이 자를 없애고, 바라바를 우리에게 놓아주시오." -
- 바라바는, 그 성 안에서 일어난 폭동과 살인 때문에 감옥에 갇힌 사람이다.-
- 빌라도는 예수를 놓아주고자 하여, 다시 그들에게 말하였다.
- 그러나 그들이 외쳤다. "그 자를 십자가에 못박으시오! 십자가에 못박으시오!"
- 빌라도가 세 번째 그들에게 말하였다. "도대체 이 사람이 무슨 나쁜 일을 하였단 말이오? 나는 그에게서 사형에 처할 아무런 죄를 찾지 못하였소. 그러므로 나는 그를 매질이나 해서 놓아줄까 하오."

- But they were insistent, with loud voices asking that He be crucified. And their voices began to prevail.
- And Pilate pronounced sentence that their demand be granted.
- And he released the man they were asking for who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, but he delivered Jesus to their will.
- When they led Him away, they seized a man, Simon of Cyrene, coming in from the country, and placed on him the cross to carry behind Jesus.
- And following Him was a large crowd of the people, and of women who were mourning and lamenting Him.

- 그러나 그들은 마구 우기면서, 예수를 십자가에 못박으라고 큰 소리로 요구하였다. 그래서 그들의 소리가 이겼다.
- 마침내 빌라도는 그들의 요구대로 하기로 결정하였다.
- 그래서 그는 폭동과 살인 때문에 감옥에 갇힌 자는 그들이 요구하는 대로 놓아주고, 예수는 그들의 뜻대로 하게 넘겨주었다.
- 그들이 예수를 끌고 가다가, 들에서 오는 시몬이라는 한 구레네 사람을 붙들어서, 그에게 십자가를 지우고, 예수의 뒤를 따라가게 하였다.
- 백성들과 여자들이 큰 무리를 이루어서 예수를 따라 가고 있었는데, 여자들은 예수를 생각하여 가슴을 치며 통곡하였다.

- But Jesus turning to them said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, stop weeping for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.
- "For behold, the days are coming when they will say, 'Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never nursed.'
- "Then they will begin TO SAY TO THE MOUNTAINS, 'FALL ON US,' AND TO THE HILLS, 'COVER US.'
- "For if they do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?"
- Two others also, who were criminals, were being led away to be put to death with Him.

- 예수께서 여자들을 돌아다보시고 말씀하셨다. "예루살렘의 딸들아, 나를 두고 울지 말고, 너희와 너희 자녀를 두고 울어라.
- 보아라, '아이를 배지 못하는 여자와, 아이를 낳아 보지 못한 태와, 젖을 먹여 보지 못한 가슴이 복되다' 하고 사람들이 말할 날이 올 것이다.
- 그 때에, 사람들이 산에다 대고 '우리 위에 무너져 내려라' 하며, 언덕에다 대고 '우리를 덮어 버려라' 하고 말할 것이다.
- 나무가 푸른 계절에도 사람들이 이렇게 하거든, 하물며 나무가 마른 계절에야 무슨 일이 벌어지겠느냐?"
- 다른 죄수 두 사람도 예수와 함께 처형장으로 끌려갔다.

- When they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left.
- But Jesus was saying, "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing " And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves.
- And the people stood by, looking on. And even the rulers were sneering at Him, saying, "He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is the Christ of God, His Chosen One."
- The soldiers also mocked Him, coming up to Him, offering Him sour wine,
- and saying, "If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself!"

- 그들은 해골이라 하는 곳에 이르러서, 거기서 예수를 십자가에 달고, 그 죄수들도 그렇게 하였는데, 한 사람은 그의 오른쪽에, 한 사람은 그의 왼쪽에 달았다.
- [그 때에 예수께서 말씀하셨다. "아버지, 저 사람들을 용서하여 주십시오. 저 사람들은 자기네가 무슨 일을 하는지를 알지 못합니다."] 그들은 제비를 뽑아서, 예수의 옷을 나누어 가졌다.
- 백성은 서서 바라보고 있었고, 지도자들은 비웃으며 말하였다. "이 자가 남을 구원하였으니, 정말 그가 택하심을 받은 분이라면, 자기나 구원하라지."
- 병정들도 예수를 조롱하였는데, 그들은 가까이 가서, 그에게 신 포도주를 들이대면서,
- 말하였다. "네가 유대인의 왕이라면, 너나 구원하여 보아라."

- Now there was also an inscription above Him, "THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS."
- One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, saying, "Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!"
- But the other answered, and rebuking him said, "Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation?
- "And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong."
- And he was saying, "Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!"

- 예수의 머리 위에는 "이는 유대인의 왕이다" 이렇게 쓴 죄패가 붙어 있었다.
- 예수와 함께 달려 있는 죄수 가운데 하나도 그를 모독하며 말하였다. "너는 그리스도가 아니냐? 너와 우리를 구원하여라."
- 그러나 다른 하나는 그를 꾸짖으며 말하였다. "똑같은 처형을 받고 있는 주제에, 너는 하나님이 두렵지도 않으냐?
- 우리야 우리가 저지른 일 때문에 그에 마땅한 벌을 받고 있으니 당연하지만, 이분은 아무것도 잘못한 일이 없다." 그리고 나서 그는 예수께 말하였다.
- "예수님, 주님이 주님의 나라에 들어가실 때에, 나를 기억해 주십시오."

- And He said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise."

- 예수께서 그에게 말씀하셨다. "내가 진정으로 네게 말한다. 너는 오늘 나와 함께 낙원에 있을 것이다."
