사무엘상 9:1-10:27

 하나님께서는 베냐민 지파 기스의 아들 사울을 이스라엘의 첫 왕으로 선택하시고 사울과 사무엘을 대면케 하셨다. 사무엘은 사울에게 기름을 부어 그가 왕으로 선택된 사실을 알렸다. 전체 이스라엘 온 백성이 모인 미스바에서 사울은 제비 뽑기를 통해 왕으로 선출되었다.
  
  왕으로 선택된 사울(9:1-9:27)    
 
  1. Now there was a man of Benjamin whose name was Kish the son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Becorath, the son of Aphiah, the son of a Benjamite, a mighty man of valor.
  2. He had a son whose name was Saul, a choice and handsome man, and there was not a more handsome person than he among the sons of Israel; from his shoulders and up he was taller than any of the people.
  3. Now the donkeys of Kish, Saul's father, were lost. So Kish said to his son Saul, "Take now with you one of the servants, and arise, go search for the donkeys."
  4. He passed through the hill country of Ephraim and passed through the land of Shalishah, but they did not find them Then they passed through the land of Shaalim, but they were not there. Then he passed through the land of the Benjamites, but they did not find them.
  5. When they came to the land of Zuph, Saul said to his servant who was with him, "Come, and let us return, or else my father will cease to be concerned about the donkeys and will become anxious for us."
  1. 베냐민 지파에 기스라고 하는 유력한 사람이 있었다. 그의 아버지는 아비엘이고, 할아버지는 스롤이고, 그 윗대는 베고랏이고, 그 윗대는 아비아인데, 베냐민 사람이다.
  2. 그에게는 사울이라고 하는 아들이 있었는데, 잘생긴 젊은이였다. 이스라엘 사람들 가운데 그보다 더 잘생긴 사람이 없었고, 키도 보통 사람들보다 어깨 위만큼은 더 컸다.
  3. 그런데 사울의 아버지 기스는 자기가 기르던 암나귀들 가운데서 몇 마리를 잃고서, 자기 아들 사울에게, 종을 하나 데리고 가서 암나귀들을 찾아 보라고 말하였다.
  4. 사울은 종을 데리고 에브라임 산간지역과 살리사 지방으로 두루 다녀 보았으나, 찾지 못하였다. 사알림 지방까지 가서 두루 다녀 보았으나 거기에도 없었다. 베냐민 지방도 다녀 보았으나 거기에서도 찾지 못하였다.
  5. 그들이 숩 지방으로 들어섰을 때에, 사울이 자기가 데리고 다니던 종에게 말하였다. "그만 돌아가자. 아버지께서 암나귀들보다 오히려 우리 걱정을 하시겠다."
  1. He said to him, "Behold now, there is a man of God in this city, and the man is held in honor; all that he says surely comes true Now let us go there, perhaps he can tell us about our journey on which we have set out."
  2. Then Saul said to his servant, "But behold, if we go, what shall we bring the man? For the bread is gone from our sack and there is no present to bring to the man of God. What do we have?"
  3. The servant answered Saul again and said, "Behold, I have in my hand a fourth of a shekel of silver; I will give it to the man of God and he will tell us our way."
  4. (Formerly in Israel, when a man went to inquire of God, he used to say, "Come, and let us go to the seer"; for he who is called a prophet now was formerly called a seer.)
  5. Then Saul said to his servant, "Well said; come, let us go." So they went to the city where the man of God was.
  1. 그러자 그 종이 그에게 말하였다. "보십시오, 이 성읍에는 하나님의 사람이 한 분 계시는데, 존경받는 분이십니다. 그가 말하는 것은 모두 틀림없이 이루어진다고 합니다. 그러니 이제 그리로 가 보시는 것이 어떨는지요? 혹시 그가 우리에게, 우리가 가야 할 길을 알려 줄지도 모릅니다."
  2. 사울이 종에게 말하였다. "그래, 한번 가 보자. 그런데 우리가 그분에게 무엇을 좀 가지고 가야겠는데, 우리 주머니에는 빵 하나도 남아 있지 않으니, 하나님의 사람에게 드릴 예물이 없구나. 우리에게 뭐 남아 있는 것이 좀 있느냐?"
  3. 종이 다시 사울에게 대답하였다. "아, 나에게 은전 한 푼이 있습니다. 이것을 하나님의 사람에게 드리고, 우리가 갈 길을 가르쳐 달라고 하겠습니다."
  4. （옛적에 이스라엘에서 사람들이 하나님께 물으려고 할 때에는, 선견자에게 가자고 말하였다. 오늘날 우리가 '예언자'라고 하는 이들을 옛적에는 '선견자'라고 불렀다.）
  5. 사울이 종에게 말하였다. "좋은 생각이다. 어서 가자!" 그리하여 그들은 하나님의 사람이 있는 성읍으로 갔다.
  1. As they went up the slope to the city, they found young women going out to draw water and said to them, "Is the seer here?"
  2. They answered them and said, "He is; see, he is ahead of you. Hurry now, for he has come into the city today, for the people have a sacrifice on the high place today.
  3. "As soon as you enter the city you will find him before he goes up to the high place to eat, for the people will not eat until he comes, because he must bless the sacrifice; afterward those who are invited will eat. Now therefore, go up for you will find him at once."
  4. So they went up to the city. As they came into the city, behold, Samuel was coming out toward them to go up to the high place.
  5. Now a day before Saul's coming, the LORD had revealed this to Samuel saying,
  1. 그들은, 성읍으로 가는 비탈길로 올라가다가, 물 길러 내려오는 처녀들을 만나 "선견자께서 성읍에 계십니까?" 하고 물었다.
  2. 처녀들이 그들에게 대답하였다. "예, 계십니다. 지금 막 저 앞으로 가셨습니다. 서둘러서 가시면, 따라가서 만나실 수 있습니다. 오늘 사람들이 산당에서 제사를 드리기 때문에, 그분이 방금 성읍으로 들어가셨습니다.
  3. 그러니까 두 분께서 성읍으로 들어가시면, 그분이 식사하러 산당으로 올라가시기 전에, 틀림없이 그분을 만날 것입니다. 그분이 도착할 때까지는 아무도 먹지 않습니다. 그분이 제물을 축사한 다음에야 초대받은 사람들이 먹기 때문입니다. 그러니 지금 올라가시면, 그분을 만날 수 있습니다."
  4. 그들이 성읍으로 올라가 성읍 안으로 들어가서 보니, 사무엘이 마침 산당으로 올라가려고 맞은쪽에서 나오고 있었다.
  5. 사울이 오기 하루 전에 주님께서 사무엘에게 알리셨다.
  1. "About this time tomorrow I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him to be prince over My people Israel; and he will deliver My people from the hand of the Philistines For I have regarded My people, because their cry has come to Me."
  2. When Samuel saw Saul, the LORD said to him, "Behold, the man of whom I spoke to you! This one shall rule over My people."
  3. Then Saul approached Samuel in the gate and said, "Please tell me where the seer's house is."
  4. Samuel answered Saul and said, "I am the seer. Go up before me to the high place, for you shall eat with me today; and in the morning I will let you go, and will tell you all that is on your mind.
  5. "As for your donkeys which were lost three days ago, do not set your mind on them, for they have been found And for whom is all that is desirable in Israel? Is it not for you and for all your father's household?"
  1. "내일 이맘때에 내가 베냐민 땅에서 온 한 사람을 너에게 보낼 것이니, 너는 그에게 기름을 부어 나의 백성, 이스라엘의 영도자로 세워라. 그가 나의 백성을 블레셋 사람의 손에서 구해 낼 것이다. 나의 백성이 겪는 고난을 내가 보았고, 나의 백성이 살려 달라고 울부짖는 소리를 내가 들었다."
  2. 사무엘이 사울을 보았을 때에, 주님께서 그에게 말씀하셨다. "이 젊은이가, 내가 너에게 말한 바로 그 사람이다. 이 사람이 나의 백성을 다스릴 것이다."
  3. 사울이 성문 안에 있는 사무엘에게 다가가서 말하였다. "선견자의 집이 어디에 있는지 알려 주십시오."
  4. 사무엘이 사울에게 대답하였다. "바로 내가 그 선견자요. 앞장 서서 산당으로 올라가시지요. 두 분은 오늘 나와 함께 저녁을 듭시다. 물어 보시려는 것은, 내일 아침에 다 말씀드리겠습니다. 그리고 나서 두 분을 보내 드리겠습니다.
  5. 사흘 전에 잃어버린 암나귀들은 이미 찾았으니, 그것은 걱정하지 마십시오. 지금, 온 이스라엘 사람들의 기대가 누구에게 걸려 있는지 아십니까? 바로 그대와 그대 아버지의 온 집안입니다!"
  1. Saul replied, "Am I not a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel, and my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? Why then do you speak to me in this way?"
  2. Then Samuel took Saul and his servant and brought them into the hall and gave them a place at the head of those who were invited, who were about thirty men.
  3. Samuel said to the cook, "Bring the portion that I gave you, concerning which I said to you, 'Set it aside.'"
  4. Then the cook took up the leg with what was on it and set it before Saul. And Samuel said, "Here is what has been reserved! Set it before you and eat, because it has been kept for you until the appointed time, since I said I have invited the people." So Saul ate with Samuel that day.
  5. When they came down from the high place into the city, Samuel spoke with Saul on the roof.
  1. 사울이 대답하였다. "저는 이스라엘 지파들 가운데서도 가장 작은 베냐민 지파 사람이 아닙니까? 그리고 저의 가족은 베냐민 지파의 모든 가족 가운데서도 가장 보잘것없는데, 어찌 저에게 그런 말씀을 하십니까?"
  2. 사무엘은 사울과 그의 종을 데리고 방으로 들어가서, 초대받은 사람들의 윗자리에 앉혔다. 거기에 모인 사람들은 서른 명쯤 되었다.
  3. 사무엘이 요리사에게 일렀다. "내가 자네에게 잘 간수하라고 부탁하며 맡겨 두었던 부분을 가져 오게."
  4. 요리사가 넓적다리와 거기에 붙어 있는 것을 가져다가 사울 앞에 놓으니, 사무엘이 말하였다. "보십시오, 준비해 두었던 것입니다. 앞에 놓고 드십시오. 내가 사람들을 초청할 때부터, 지금 이렇게 드리려고 보관해 두었던 것입니다." 그래서 그 날 사울은 사무엘과 함께 먹었다.
  5. 그들은 산당에서 내려와 성읍으로 들어갔다. 침실이 지붕에 준비되어 있었으므로, 사무엘과 사울은 거기에서 누워서 잤다.
  1. And they arose early; and at daybreak Samuel called to Saul on the roof, saying, "Get up, that I may send you away." So Saul arose, and both he and Samuel went out into the street.
  2. As they were going down to the edge of the city, Samuel said to Saul, "Say to the servant that he might go ahead of us and pass on, but you remain standing now, that I may proclaim the word of God to you."
  1. 다음날 동틀 무렵에, 사무엘이 지붕에서 사울을 깨웠다. "일어나십시오. 바래다 드리겠습니다." 사울이 일어나니, 사무엘은 사울과 함께 바깥으로 나갔다.
  2. 성읍 끝에 이르렀을 때에, 사무엘이 사울에게 "저 종을 앞에 먼저 보내십시오" 하고 말하였다. 그 종이 한참 앞서서 가니, 사무엘이 다시 사울에게 "내가 하나님의 말씀을 들려 드리겠으니, 잠깐 서 계십시오" 하고 말하였다.
 
  사울의 즉위(10:1-10:27)    
 
  1. Then Samuel took the flask of oil, poured it on his head, kissed him and said, "Has not the LORD anointed you a ruler over His inheritance?
  2. "When you go from me today, then you will find two men close to Rachel's tomb in the territory of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will say to you, 'The donkeys which you went to look for have been found. Now behold, your father has ceased to be concerned about the donkeys and is anxious for you, saying, "What shall I do about my son?"'
  3. "Then you will go on further from there, and you will come as far as the oak of Tabor, and there three men going up to God at Bethel will meet you, one carrying three young goats, another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a jug of wine;
  4. and they will greet you and give you two loaves of bread, which you will accept from their hand.
  5. "Afterward you will come to the hill of God where the Philistine garrison is; and it shall be as soon as you have come there to the city, that you will meet a group of prophets coming down from the high place with harp, tambourine, flute, and a lyre before them, and they will be prophesying.
  1. 사무엘이 기름병을 가져다가 사울의 머리에 붓고, 그에게 입을 맞춘 다음에, 이렇게 말하였다. "주님께서 그대에게 기름을 부으시어, 주님의 소유이신 이 백성을 다스릴 영도자로 세우셨습니다.
  2. 오늘 나를 떠나서 가시다가 베냐민 지역 셀사에 이르시면, 라헬의 무덤 근처에서 두 사람을 만나실 터인데, 그들은, 그대의 부친이 찾으러 다니던 암나귀들은 벌써 찾았고, 부친께서는 암나귀들 걱정은 놓으셨지만, 이제 오히려 아들과 종의 일이 걱정이 되어 찾고 계신다고 말할 것입니다.
  3. 또 거기에서 더 가다가 다볼의 상수리나무에 이르면, 거기에서 하나님을 뵈려고 올라가는 세 사람을 만날 것입니다. 한 사람은 염소 새끼 세 마리를 데리고 가고, 한 사람은 빵 세 덩이를 가지고 가고, 또 한 사람은 포도주 가죽부대를 하나 메고 갈 것입니다.
  4. 그들이 그대에게 안부를 묻고, 빵 두 덩이를 줄 것이니, 그것을 받으십시오.
  5. 그런 다음에 그대는 하나님의 산으로 가십시오. 그 곳에는 블레셋 수비대가 있습니다. 그 곳을 지나 성읍으로 들어갈 때에, 거문고를 뜯고 소구를 치고 피리를 불고 수금을 뜯으면서 예배 처소에서 내려오는 예언자의 무리를 만날 것입니다. 그들은 모두 춤을 추고 소리를 지르면서 예언을 하고 있을 것입니다.
  1. "Then the Spirit of the LORD will come upon you mightily, and you shall prophesy with them and be changed into another man.
  2. "It shall be when these signs come to you, do for yourself what the occasion requires, for God is with you.
  3. "And you shall go down before me to Gilgal; and behold, I will come down to you to offer burnt offerings and sacrifice peace offerings You shall wait seven days until I come to you and show you what you should do."
  4. Then it happened when he turned his back to leave Samuel, God changed his heart; and all those signs came about on that day.
  5. When they came to the hill there, behold, a group of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him mightily, so that he prophesied among them.
  1. 그러면 그대에게도 주님의 영이 강하게 내리어, 그들과 함께 춤을 추고 소리를 지르면서 예언을 할 것이며, 그대는 전혀 딴 사람으로 변할 것입니다.
  2. 이런 일들이 그대에게 나타나거든, 하나님이 함께 계시는 증거이니, 하나님이 인도하시는 대로 따라 하십시오.
  3. 그대는 나보다 먼저 길갈로 내려가십시오. 그러면 나도 뒤따라 그대에게 내려가서 번제와 화목제물을 드릴 것이니, 내가 갈 때까지 이레 동안 기다려 주십시오. 그 때에 가서 하셔야 할 일을 알려 드리겠습니다."
  4. 사울이 사무엘에게서 떠나려고 몸을 돌이켰을 때에, 하나님이 사울에게 새 마음을 주셨다. 그리고 사무엘이 말한 그 모든 증거들이 그 날로 다 나타났다.
  5. 사울이 종과 함께 산에 이르자, 예언자의 무리가 그를 맞아 주었다. 그 때에 하나님의 영이 그에게 세차게 내리니, 사울이 그들과 함께, 춤추며 소리를 지르면서 예언을 하였다.
  1. It came about, when all who knew him previously saw that he prophesied now with the prophets, that the people said to one another, "What has happened to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?"
  2. A man there said, "Now, who is their father?" Therefore it became a proverb: "Is Saul also among the prophets?"
  3. When he had finished prophesying, he came to the high place.
  4. Now Saul's uncle said to him and his servant, "Where did you go?" And he said, "To look for the donkeys. When we saw that they could not be found, we went to Samuel."
  5. Saul's uncle said, "Please tell me what Samuel said to you."
  1. 이전부터 그를 알던 모든 사람들이 보니, 사울이 과연 예언자들과 함께 그렇게 예언을 하는 것이 아닌가! 그래서 그들이 "기스의 아들에게 무슨 일이 일어났는가? 사울이 예언자가 되었는가?" 하고 서로 말하였다.
  2. 거기에 사는 한 사람이 "다른 예언자들은 어떻습니까? 그들의 아버지가 누구라고 생각하십니까?" 하고 물었으므로, "사울마저도 예언자가 되었는가?" 하는 속담이 생겼다.
  3. 사울은 예언을 마치고 나서, 산당으로 갔다.
  4. 사울의 삼촌이 사울과 그 종에게 "어디를 갔었느냐?" 하고 물었다. 사울이 대답하였다. "암나귀들을 찾으러 갔지만, 찾을 수가 없어서 사무엘에게 갔었습니다."
  5. 사울의 삼촌이 또 말하였다. "사무엘이 너희에게 무슨 말씀을 하시더냐? 나에게 말하여라."
  1. So Saul said to his uncle, "He told us plainly that the donkeys had been found." But he did not tell him about the matter of the kingdom which Samuel had mentioned.
  2. Thereafter Samuel called the people together to the LORD at Mizpah;
  3. and he said to the sons of Israel, "Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, 'I brought Israel up from Egypt, and I delivered you from the hand of the Egyptians and from the power of all the kingdoms that were oppressing you.'
  4. "But you have today rejected your God, who delivers you from all your calamities and your distresses; yet you have said, 'No, but set a king over us!' Now therefore, present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes and by your clans."
  5. Thus Samuel brought all the tribes of Israel near, and the tribe of Benjamin was taken by lot.
  1. 사울이 삼촌에게 말하였다. "암나귀들은 이미 찾았다고 우리에게 일러주셨습니다." 그러나 사무엘이 사울 자신에게 왕이 될 것이라고 말한 것은, 그에게 알려 주지 않았다.
  2. 사무엘이 백성을 미스바로 불러 주님 앞에 모아 놓고,
  3. 이스라엘 자손에게 하나님이 하신 말씀을 전하였다. "나 주 이스라엘의 하나님이 말한다. 내가 이스라엘을 이집트에서 데리고 올라왔고, 내가 너희를 이집트 사람의 손과, 너희를 학대하던 모든 나라의 손에서 건져 내었다.
  4. 그러나 오늘날 너희는, 너희를 모든 환난과 고난 속에서 건져 낸 너희 하나님을 버리고, 너희에게 왕을 세워 달라고 나에게 요구하였다. 좋다, 이제 너희는 지파와 집안별로, 나 주 앞에 나와 서거라!"
  5. 사무엘이 이스라엘의 모든 지파를 앞으로 나오게 하니, 주님께서 베냐민 지파를 뽑으셨다.
  1. Then he brought the tribe of Benjamin near by its families, and the Matrite family was taken. And Saul the son of Kish was taken; but when they looked for him, he could not be found.
  2. Therefore they inquired further of the LORD, "Has the man come here yet?" So the LORD said, "Behold, he is hiding himself by the baggage."
  3. So they ran and took him from there, and when he stood among the people, he was taller than any of the people from his shoulders upward.
  4. Samuel said to all the people, "Do you see him whom the LORD has chosen? Surely there is no one like him among all the people " So all the people shouted and said, "Long live the king!"
  5. Then Samuel told the people the ordinances of the kingdom, and wrote them in the book and placed it before the LORD. And Samuel sent all the people away, each one to his house.
  1. 사무엘이 베냐민 지파를 각 집안별로 앞으로 나오게 하니, 마드리의 집안이 뽑혔고, 마드리의 집안 남자들을 앞으로 나오게 하니, 기스의 아들 사울이 뽑혔다. 사람들이 그를 찾았지만, 보이지 않았다.
  2. 그래서 사람들이 다시 주님께 여쭈어 보았다. "그 사람이 여기에 와 있습니까?" 주님께서 말씀하셨다. "그는 짐짝 사이에 숨어 있다."
  3. 사람들이 달려가 거기에서 그를 데리고 나왔다. 그가 사람들 가운데 섰는데, 다른 사람들보다 어깨 위만큼은 더 커 보였다.
  4. 사무엘이 온 백성에게 말하였다. "주님께서 뽑으신 이 사람을 보아라. 온 백성 가운데 이만한 인물이 없다." 그러자 온 백성이 환호성을 지르며 "임금님 만세!" 하고 외쳤다.
  5. 사무엘이 왕의 제도를 백성에게 알려 준 다음, 그것을 책에 써서 주님 앞에 보관하여 두고, 온 백성을 각자의 집으로 돌아가게 하였다.
  1. Saul also went to his house at Gibeah; and the valiant men whose hearts God had touched went with him.
  2. But certain worthless men said, "How can this one deliver us?" And they despised him and did not bring him any present. But he kept silent.
  1. 사울이 기브아에 있는 자기의 집으로 돌아갈 때에, 하나님께 감동을 받은 용감한 사람들이 사울을 따라갔다.
  2. 그러나 몇몇 불량배들은 "이런 사람이 어떻게 우리를 구할 수 있겠느냐?" 하고 떠들면서 그를 업신여기고, 그에게 예물도 바치지 않았다. 그러나 사울은 못 들은 척하였다.
