- Now it came about in the four hundred and eightieth year after the sons of Israel came out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the LORD.
- As for the house which King Solomon built for the LORD, its length was sixty cubits and its width twenty cubits and its height thirty cubits.
- The porch in front of the nave of the house was twenty cubits in length, corresponding to the width of the house, and its depth along the front of the house was ten cubits.
- Also for the house he made windows with artistic frames.
- Against the wall of the house he built stories encompassing the walls of the house around both the nave and the inner sanctuary; thus he made side chambers all around.

- 이스라엘 자손이 이집트 땅에서 나온 지 사백팔십 년, 솔로몬이 이스라엘의 왕이 된 지 사 년째 되는 해 시브월 곧 둘째 달에, 솔로몬은 주님의 성전을 짓기 시작하였다.
- 솔로몬 왕이 주님께 지어 바친 성전은, 길이가 예순 자이고, 너비가 스무 자이고, 높이가 서른 자이다.
- 성전의 본당 앞에 있는 현관은, 그 길이가 스무 자로서, 그 본당의 너비와 똑같고, 그 너비는 성전 본당 밖으로 열 자를 더 달아냈다.
- 그리고 그는 성전 벽에다가 붙박이창을 만들었는데, 바깥쪽을 안쪽보다 좁게 만들었다.
- 그리고 그 사방에 골방을 만들었다. 성전의 벽 곧 본당 양 옆과 뒤로는, 쭉 돌아가면서 삼층으로 다락을 만들었다.

- The lowest story was five cubits wide, and the middle was six cubits wide, and the third was seven cubits wide; for on the outside he made offsets in the wall of the house all around in order that the beams would not be inserted in the walls of the house.
- The house, while it was being built, was built of stone prepared at the quarry, and there was neither hammer nor axe nor any iron tool heard in the house while it was being built.
- The doorway for the lowest side chamber was on the right side of the house; and they would go up by winding stairs to the middle story, and from the middle to the third.
- So he built the house and finished it; and he covered the house with beams and planks of cedar.
- He also built the stories against the whole house, each five cubits high; and they were fastened to the house with timbers of cedar.

- 아래층에 있는 다락은 그 너비가 다섯 자이고, 가운데 층에 있는 다락은 그 너비가 여섯 자이고, 삼 층에 있는 다락은 그 너비가 일곱 자이다. 이것은 성전 바깥으로 돌아가면서 턱을 내어서, 골방의 서까래가 성전의 벽에 박히지 않게 하였다.
- 돌은 채석장에서 잘 다듬어낸 것을 썼으므로, 막상 성전을 지을 때에는, 망치나 정 등, 쇠로 만든 어떠한 연장 소리도, 성전에서는 전혀 들리지 않았다.
- 가운데 층에 있는 골방으로 들어가는 문은 성전의 남쪽 측면에 있으며, 나사 모양의 층계를 따라서, 가운데 층으로 올라가게 하였다. 또 가운데 층에서부터 삼층까지도 나사 모양의 층계를 따라서 올라가게 하였다.
- 이렇게 해서 그는 성전 짓기를 완성하였다. 성전의 천장은 백향목 서까래와 널빤지로 덮었다.
- 또한 성전 전체에다가 돌아가면서 높이가 저마다 다섯 자씩 되는 다락을 지었는데, 백향목 들보로 성전에 연결하였다.

- Now the word of the LORD came to Solomon saying,
- "Concerning this house which you are building, if you will walk in My statutes and execute My ordinances and keep all My commandments by walking in them, then I will carry out My word with you which I spoke to David your father.
- "I will dwell among the sons of Israel, and will not forsake My people Israel."
- So Solomon built the house and finished it.
- Then he built the walls of the house on the inside with boards of cedar; from the floor of the house to the ceiling he overlaid the walls on the inside with wood, and he overlaid the floor of the house with boards of cypress.

- 주님께서 솔로몬에게 말씀하셨다.
- "드디어 네가 성전을 짓기 시작하였구나. 네가 내 법도와 율례를 따르고, 또 나의 계명에 순종하여, 그대로 그것을 지키면, 내가 네 아버지 다윗에게 약속한 바를 네게서 이루겠다.
- 또한 나는 이스라엘 자손과 더불어, 그들 가운데서 함께 살겠고, 내 백성 이스라엘을 결코 버리지 않겠다."
- 솔로몬이 성전 짓기를 마쳤다.
- 성전의 안쪽 벽에는 바닥에서 천장에 닿기까지 벽 전체에 백향목 널빤지를 입히고, 성전의 바닥에는 잣나무 널빤지를 깔았다.

- He built twenty cubits on the rear part of the house with boards of cedar from the floor to the ceiling; he built them for it on the inside as an inner sanctuary, even as the most holy place.
- The house, that is, the nave in front of the inner sanctuary, was forty cubits long.
- There was cedar on the house within, carved in the shape of gourds and open flowers; all was cedar, there was no stone seen.
- Then he prepared an inner sanctuary within the house in order to place there the ark of the covenant of the LORD.
- The inner sanctuary was twenty cubits in length, twenty cubits in width, and twenty cubits in height, and he overlaid it with pure gold. He also overlaid the altar with cedar.

- 성전 뒤쪽에서 앞쪽으로 스무 자를 재어서, 바닥에서부터 천장의 서까래에 이르기까지 백향목 널빤지로 가로막아서, 성전의 내실 곧 지성소를 만들었다.
- 내실 앞에 있는 성전의 외실은, 그 길이가 마흔 자였다.
- 성전 안쪽 벽에 입힌 백향목에는, 호리병 모양 박과 활짝 핀 꽃 모양을 새겼는데, 전체가 백향목이라서, 석재는 하나도 보이지 않았다.
- 성전 안에는, 주님의 언약궤를 놓아 둘 내실을 마련하였다.
- 성전의 내실 곧 지성소는 길이가 스무 자, 너비가 스무 자, 높이가 스무 자이고, 순금으로 입혔으며, 백향목 제단에도 순금으로 입혔다.

- So Solomon overlaid the inside of the house with pure gold. And he drew chains of gold across the front of the inner sanctuary, and he overlaid it with gold.
- He overlaid the whole house with gold, until all the house was finished. Also the whole altar which was by the inner sanctuary he overlaid with gold.
- Also in the inner sanctuary he made two cherubim of olive wood, each ten cubits high.
- Five cubits was the one wing of the cherub and five cubits the other wing of the cherub; from the end of one wing to the end of the other wing were ten cubits.
- The other cherub was ten cubits; both the cherubim were of the same measure and the same form.

- 솔로몬은 성전 내부도 순금으로 입히고, 지성소 앞에는 금사슬을 드리웠으며, 그 지성소를 모두 금으로 입혔다.
- 그래서 그는 온 성전을, 빠진 곳이 전혀 없도록, 금으로 입혔다. 심지어는 성소에 속하여 있는 제단들까지도, 모두 금으로 입혔다.
- 그는 지성소 안에 올리브 나무로 두 개의 그룹을 만들었는데, 높이는 각각 열 자이다.
- 그 한 그룹의 한쪽 날개는 다섯 자, 그룹의 다른 쪽 날개 역시 다섯 자이다. 그 날개의 한쪽 끝으로부터 다른 쪽 날개의 끝까지는 열 자이다.
- 두 번째 그룹도 열 자이며, 두 그룹이 같은 치수와 같은 모양이었다.

- The height of the one cherub was ten cubits, and so was the other cherub.
- He placed the cherubim in the midst of the inner house, and the wings of the cherubim were spread out, so that the wing of the one was touching the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub was touching the other wall. So their wings were touching each other in the center of the house.
- He also overlaid the cherubim with gold.
- Then he carved all the walls of the house round about with carved engravings of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers, inner and outer sanctuaries.
- He overlaid the floor of the house with gold, inner and outer sanctuaries.

- 이쪽 그룹의 높이도 열 자이고, 저쪽 것도 열 자이다.
- 솔로몬은 그 그룹들을 지성소의 가장 깊숙한 곳에 놓았다. 그룹들의 날개는 펴져 있어서, 이쪽 그룹의 한 날개가 저쪽 벽에 닿았고, 저쪽 그룹의 한 날개는 이쪽 벽에 닿았다. 그리고 지성소의 중앙에서 그들의 다른 날개들은 서로 닿아 있었다.
- 그는 이 그룹에도 금으로 입혔다.

- For the entrance of the inner sanctuary he made doors of olive wood, the lintel and five-sided doorposts.
- So he made two doors of olive wood, and he carved on them carvings of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold; and he spread the gold on the cherubim and on the palm trees.
- So also he made for the entrance of the nave four-sided doorposts of olive wood
- and two doors of cypress wood; the two leaves of the one door turned on pivots, and the two leaves of the other door turned on pivots.
- He carved on it cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers; and he overlaid them with gold evenly applied on the engraved work.

- 지성소 어귀에는 올리브 나무로 문을 두 짝 만들고, 그 인방과 문설주는 오각형으로 만들었다.
- 그리고 올리브 나무로 만든 문 두 짝에는, 그룹의 형상과 종려나무와 활짝 핀 꽃 모양을 새겼는데, 그룹 모양과 종려나무 모양 위에도 금으로 입혔다.
- 또 올리브 나무로 본당의 외실 어귀를 만들었는데, 그 문설주는 사각형으로 만들었다.
- 그리고 잣나무로 만든 두 개의 문이 있는데, 한 쪽의 문도 두 부분으로 접히고, 다른 문도 두 부분으로 접히게 되어 있었다.
- 그 위에 그룹들과 종려나무와 활짝 핀 꽃 모양을 새겼는데, 그 위에 고루고루 금을 입혔다.

- He built the inner court with three rows of cut stone and a row of cedar beams.
- In the fourth year the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid, in the month of Ziv.
- In the eleventh year, in the month of Bul, which is the eighth month, the house was finished throughout all its parts and according to all its plans. So he was seven years in building it.

- 또 성전 앞에다가 안뜰을 만들었는데, 안뜰 벽은 잘 다듬은 돌 세 켜와 두꺼운 백향목 판자 한 켜로 벽을 쳤다.
- 주님의 성전 기초를 놓은 것은 솔로몬의 통치 제 사년 시브월이고,
- 성전이 그 세밀한 부분까지 설계한 대로 완공된 것은 제 십일년 불월 곧 여덟째 달이다. 솔로몬이 성전을 건축하는 데는 일곱 해가 걸렸다.
