사도행전 28:1-28:31

 바울은 멜리데 섬에서 독사에 물리고도 죽지 않았으며, 병든 주민을 성령의 능력으로 치료해 주는 역사를 베풀었다. 그리고 로마에 도착한 바울은 그 곳에서도 담대히 복음 전하는 일에 전념하였다.
  
  멜리데에서의 사역(28:1-28:15)    
 
  1. When they had been brought safely through, then we found out that the island was called Malta.
  2. The natives showed us extraordinary kindness; for because of the rain that had set in and because of the cold, they kindled a fire and received us all.
  3. But when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat and fastened itself on his hand.
  4. When the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they began saying to one another, "Undoubtedly this man is a murderer, and though he has been saved from the sea, justice has not allowed him to live."
  5. However he shook the creature off into the fire and suffered no harm.
  1. 우리가 안전하게 목숨을 구한 뒤에야, 비로소 그 곳이 몰타 섬이라는 것을 알았다.
  2. 섬 사람들이 우리에게 특별한 친절을 베풀어 주었다. 비가 내린 뒤라서 날씨가 추웠으므로, 그들은 불을 피워서 우리를 맞아 주었다.
  3. 바울이 나뭇가지를 한 아름 모아다가 불에 넣으니, 뜨거운 기운 때문에 독사가 한 마리 튀어나와서, 바울의 손에 달라붙었다.
  4. 섬 사람들이 그 뱀이 바울의 손에 매달려 있는 것을 보고 "이 사람은 틀림없이 살인자이다. 바다에서는 살아 나왔지만, 정의의 여신이 그를 그대로 살려 두지 않는다" 하고 서로 말하였다.
  5. 그런데 바울은 그 뱀을 불 속에 떨어버리고, 아무런 해도 입지 않았다.
  1. But they were expecting that he was about to swell up or suddenly fall down dead. But after they had waited a long time and had seen nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and began to say that he was a god.
  2. Now in the neighborhood of that place were lands belonging to the leading man of the island, named Publius, who welcomed us and entertained us courteously three days.
  3. And it happened that the father of Publius was lying in bed afflicted with recurrent fever and dysentery; and Paul went in to see him and after he had prayed, he laid his hands on him and healed him.
  4. After this had happened, the rest of the people on the island who had diseases were coming to him and getting cured.
  5. They also honored us with many marks of respect; and when we were setting sail, they supplied us with all we needed.
  1. 섬 사람들은, 그가 살이 부어 오르거나 당장 쓰러져 죽으려니, 하고 생각하면서 기다렸다. 그런데 오랫동안 기다려도 그에게 아무런 이상이 생기지 않자, 그들은 생각을 바꾸어서, 그를 신이라고 하였다.
  2. 그 근처에 그 섬의 추장인 보블리오가 농장을 가지고 있었다. 그가 우리를 그리로 초대해서, 사흘 동안 친절하게 대접해 주었다.
  3. 마침 보블리오의 아버지가 열병과 이질에 걸려서 병석에 누워 있었다. 그래서 바울은 들어가서 기도하고, 그에게 손을 얹어서 낫게 해주었다.
  4. 이런 일이 일어나니, 그 섬에서 병을 앓고 있는 다른 사람도 찾아와서 고침을 받았다.
  5. 그들은 극진한 예로 우리를 대하여 주었고, 우리가 떠날 때에는, 우리에게 필요한 물건들을 배에다가 실어 주었다.
  1. At the end of three months we set sail on an Alexandrian ship which had wintered at the island, and which had the Twin Brothers for its figurehead.
  2. After we put in at Syracuse, we stayed there for three days.
  3. From there we sailed around and arrived at Rhegium, and a day later a south wind sprang up, and on the second day we came to Puteoli.
  4. There we found some brethren, and were invited to stay with them for seven days; and thus we came to Rome.
  5. And the brethren, when they heard about us, came from there as far as the Market of Appius and Three Inns to meet us; and when Paul saw them, he thanked God and took courage.
  1. 석 달 뒤에 우리는 그 섬에서 겨울을 난 디오스구로라는 이름이 붙은 알렉산드리아 배를 타고 떠났다.
  2. 우리는 수라구사에 입항하여 사흘 동안 머물고,
  3. 그 곳을 떠나, 빙 돌아서 레기온에 다다랐다. 그런데 하루가 지나자 남풍이 불어왔으므로, 우리는 이틀만에 보디올에 이르렀다.
  4. 우리는 거기서 신도들을 만나서, 그들의 초청을 받고, 이레 동안 함께 지냈다. 그런 다음에, 드디어 우리는 로마로 갔다.
  5. 거기 신도들이 우리 소식을 듣고서, 아피온 광장과 트레스 마을까지 우리를 맞으러 나왔다. 바울은 그들을 보고, 하나님께 감사를 드리고, 용기를 얻었다.
 
  로마에서의 사역(28:16-28:31)    
 
  1. When we entered Rome, Paul was allowed to stay by himself, with the soldier who was guarding him.
  2. After three days Paul called together those who were the leading men of the Jews, and when they came together, he began saying to them, "Brethren, though I had done nothing against our people or the customs of our fathers, yet I was delivered as a prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.
  3. "And when they had examined me, they were willing to release me because there was no ground for putting me to death.
  4. "But when the Jews objected, I was forced to appeal to Caesar, not that I had any accusation against my nation.
  5. "For this reason, therefore, I requested to see you and to speak with you, for I am wearing this chain for the sake of the hope of Israel."
  1. 우리가 로마에 들어갔을 때에, 바울은 그를 지키는 병사 한 사람과 함께 따로 지내도 된다는 허락을 받았다.
  2. 사흘 뒤에 바울은 그 곳 유대인 지도자들을 불러모았다. 그들이 모였을 때에, 바울은 이렇게 말하였다. "동포 여러분, 나는 우리 겨레와 조상들이 전하여 준 풍속을 거스르는 일을 한 적이 없습니다. 그런데도 나는 죄수가 되어서, 예루살렘에서 로마 사람의 손에 넘겨졌습니다.
  3. 로마 사람은 나를 신문하여 보았으나, 사형에 처할 만한 아무런 근거가 없으므로, 나를 놓아주려고 하였습니다.
  4. 그러나 유대 사람이 반대하는 바람에, 하는 수 없이 내가 황제에게 상소한 것입니다. 나는 절대로 내 민족을 고발하려는 것이 아니었습니다.
  5. 이런 까닭으로, 나는 여러분을 뵙고 말씀드리려고, 여러분을 오시라고 청한 것입니다. 내가 이렇게 쇠사슬에 매여 있는 것은, 이스라엘의 소망 때문입니다."
  1. They said to him, "We have neither received letters from Judea concerning you, nor have any of the brethren come here and reported or spoken anything bad about you.
  2. "But we desire to hear from you what your views are; for concerning this sect, it is known to us that it is spoken against everywhere."
  3. When they had set a day for Paul, they came to him at his lodging in large numbers; and he was explaining to them by solemnly testifying about the kingdom of God and trying to persuade them concerning Jesus, from both the Law of Moses and from the Prophets, from morning until evening.
  4. Some were being persuaded by the things spoken, but others would not believe.
  5. And when they did not agree with one another, they began leaving after Paul had spoken one parting word, "The Holy Spirit rightly spoke through Isaiah the prophet to your fathers,
  1. 그들이 바울에게 말하였다. "우리는 아직 유대로부터 당신에 관한 편지를 받은 일도 없고, 동포들 가운데서 아무도, 여기에 와서 당신에 대하여 나쁘게 말하거나 소문을 낸 일이 없습니다.
  2. 우리는 당신에게서 당신의 생각을 들어보고 싶습니다. 이 종파에 대하여 우리가 아는 것은, 어디서나 이 종파를 반대하는 소리가 높다는 것입니다."
  3. 그들은 바울과 만날 날짜를 정하였다. 그 날에 더 많은 사람이 바울의 숙소로 찾아왔다. 그는, 아침부터 저녁까지, 그들에게 하나님 나라를 엄숙히 증언하고, 모세의 율법과 예언자의 말을 가지고 예수에 관하여 그들을 설득하면서 그의 속내를 터놓았다.
  4. 더러는 그의 말을 받아들였으나, 더러는 믿지 않았다.
  5. 그들이 이렇게 견해가 서로 엇갈린 채로 흩어질 때에, 바울은 이런 말을 한 마디 하였다. "성령께서 예언자 이사야를 통하여 여러분의 조상에게 하신 말씀은 적절합니다.
  1. saying, 'GO TO THIS PEOPLE AND SAY, "YOU WILL KEEP ON HEARING, BUT WILL NOT UNDERSTAND; AND YOU WILL KEEP ON SEEING, BUT WILL NOT PERCEIVE;
  2. FOR THE HEART OF THIS PEOPLE HAS BECOME DULL, AND WITH THEIR EARS THEY SCARCELY HEAR, AND THEY HAVE CLOSED THEIR EYES; OTHERWISE THEY MIGHT SEE WITH THEIR EYES, AND HEAR WITH THEIR EARS, AND UNDERSTAND WITH THEIR HEART AND RETURN, AND I WOULD HEAL THEM."'
  3. "Therefore let it be known to you that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will also listen."
  4. [When he had spoken these words, the Jews departed, having a great dispute among themselves.]
  5. And he stayed two full years in his own rented quarters and was welcoming all who came to him,
  1. 곧 이런 말씀입니다. '이 백성에게 가서 말하여라. 너희가 듣기는 들어도 깨닫지 못하고, 보기는 보아도 알지 못한다.
  2. 이 백성의 마음이 무디어지고 귀가 먹고 눈이 감기어 있다. 이는 그들로 하여금 눈으로 보지 못하게 하고 귀로 듣지 못하게 하고 마음으로 깨닫지 못하게 하고 돌아서지 못하게 하여, 내가 그들을 고쳐 주지 않으려는 것이다.'
  3. 그러므로 여러분은 하나님의 이 구원의 소식이 이방 사람에게 전파되었음을 알아야 합니다. 그들이야말로 그것을 듣고 받아들일 것입니다."

  5. 바울은 자기가 얻은 셋집에서 꼭 두 해 동안 지내면서, 자기를 찾아오는 모든 사람을 맞아들였다.
  1. preaching the kingdom of God and teaching concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with all openness, unhindered.
  1. 그는 아무런 방해도 받지 않고, 아주 담대하게 하나님 나라를 전하고, 주 예수 그리스도에 관한 일들을 가르쳤다.
