- Then some of the sons of Benjamin and Judah came to the stronghold to David.
- David went out to meet them, and said to them, "If you come peacefully to me to help me, my heart shall be united with you; but if to betray me to my adversaries, since there is no wrong in my hands, may the God of our fathers look on it and decide."
- Then the Spirit came upon Amasai, who was the chief of the thirty, and he said, "We are yours, O David, And with you, O son of Jesse! Peace, peace to you, And peace to him who helps you; Indeed, your God helps you!" Then David received them and made them captains of the band.
- From Manasseh also some defected to David when he was about to go to battle with the Philistines against Saul. But they did not help them, for the lords of the Philistines after consultation sent him away, saying, "At the cost of our heads he may defect to his master Saul."
- As he went to Ziklag there defected to him from Manasseh: Adnah, Jozabad, Jediael, Michael, Jozabad, Elihu and Zillethai, captains of thousands who belonged to Manasseh.

- 베냐민과 유다 자손 가운데서 요새로 다윗을 찾아온 사람들이 있었다.
- 다윗이 나가서 그들을 맞으며 말하였다. "여러분이 나를 돕고 화친할 목적으로 왔다면, 나는 여러분과 연합할 마음이 있소. 그러나 내게 아무런 악행이 없는데도 여러분이 나를 배반하여 적에게 넘긴다면, 우리 조상의 하나님께서 이를 보시고, 여러분을 벌하시기를 바라오."
- 그 때에 삼십인의 우두머리인 아마새가 하나님의 영에 사로잡혀 말하였다. "다윗 장군님, 우리는 장군님의 부하입니다. 이새의 아드님, 우리는 장군님의 편입니다. 하나님이 장군님을 돕는 분이시니 평화에 평화를 누리십시오. 장군님을 돕는 사람에게도 평화가 깃들기를 빕니다." 다윗은 그들을 기꺼이 받아들여 군대장관으로 삼았다.
- 므낫세 지파에서도 다윗에게 온 사람들이 있었다. 그 때에 다윗이 블레셋과 함께 나아가 사울과 전쟁을 하려 하였지만, 그들을 도울 수가 없었다. 블레셋 지도자들이 의논한 뒤에 "그가 우리 머리를 베어서 그의 왕 사울에게 투항할 것이 아니냐?" 하고 말하면서, 다윗을 돌려보냈기 때문이다.
- 다윗이 시글락으로 돌아갈 때에, 므낫세 지파에서 그에게 합세한 사람은 아드나와 요사밧과 여디아엘과 미가엘과 요사밧과 엘리후와 실르대이다. 이들은 모두 므낫세 지파의 천부장이다.

- They helped David against the band of raiders, for they were all mighty men of valor, and were captains in the army.
- For day by day men came to David to help him, until there was a great army like the army of God.
- Now these are the numbers of the divisions equipped for war, who came to David at Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the LORD.
- The sons of Judah who bore shield and spear were 6,800, equipped for war.
- Of the sons of Simeon, mighty men of valor for war, 7,100.

- also Zadok, a young man mighty of valor, and of his father's house twenty-two captains.
- Of the sons of Benjamin, Saul's kinsmen, 3,000; for until now the greatest part of them had kept their allegiance to the house of Saul.
- Of the sons of Ephraim 20,800, mighty men of valor, famous men in their fathers' households.

- Of the half-tribe of Manasseh 18,000, who were designated by name to come and make David king.

- Of Zebulun, there were 50,000 who went out in the army, who could draw up in battle formation with all kinds of weapons of war and helped David with an undivided heart.
- Of Naphtali there were 1,000 captains, and with them 37,000 with shield and spear.
- Of the Danites who could draw up in battle formation, there were 28,600.

- Of Asher there were 40,000 who went out in the army to draw up in battle formation.
- From the other side of the Jordan, of the Reubenites and the Gadites and of the half-tribe of Manasseh, there were 120,000 with all kinds of weapons of war for the battle.
- All these, being men of war who could draw up in battle formation, came to Hebron with a perfect heart to make David king over all Israel; and all the rest also of Israel were of one mind to make David king.
- They were there with David three days, eating and drinking, for their kinsmen had prepared for them.
- Moreover those who were near to them, even as far as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, brought food on donkeys, camels, mules and on oxen, great quantities of flour cakes, fig cakes and bunches of raisins, wine, oil, oxen and sheep. There was joy indeed in Israel.

- 요단 강 동쪽에 있는 르우벤과 갓과 므낫세 반쪽 지파에서는 갖가지 무기를 가진 군인이 십이만 명이 나왔다.
- 전투 채비를 한 이 모든 군인이, 다윗을 온 이스라엘의 왕으로 추대하려고, 충성된 마음으로 헤브론으로 왔다. 그 밖에 남은 이스라엘 사람도 모두 다윗을 왕으로 추대하는 데 뜻을 같이하였다.
- 그들의 동족이 음식까지 마련하여 주어서, 그들은 거기에서 다윗과 함께 사흘을 지내며, 먹고 마셨다.
- 또 그 근처에 있는 잇사갈과 스불론과 납달리에서도, 사람들이 음식물을 나귀와 낙타와 노새와 소에 실어 왔다. 밀가루 빵과 무화과 빵과 건포도와 포도주와 소와 양을 많이 가져 오니, 이스라엘에 기쁨이 넘쳤다.
