욥기 4:1-6:30

 엘리바스는 욥의 고난이 ‘숨겨진 죄’ 때문이라고 하면서 회개할 것을 촉구하였다. 그리고 회개 후에 받게 될 축복을 설명하였다. 그러자 욥은 불성실한 그의 태도와 말을 책망한 뒤, 자신의 허물을 깨닫게 하면 잠잠하겠다고 하였다.
  
  엘리바스의 첫번째 충고(4:1-5:27)    
 
  1. Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered,
  2. "If one ventures a word with you, will you become impatient? But who can refrain from speaking?
  3. "Behold you have admonished many, And you have strengthened weak hands.
  4. "Your words have helped the tottering to stand, And you have strengthened feeble knees.
  5. "But now it has come to you, and you are impatient; It touches you, and you are dismayed.
  1. 데만 사람 엘리바스가 대답하였다.
  2. 누가 네게 말을 걸면 너는 짜증스럽겠지. 말을 하지 않으려고 했지만 참을 수가 없다.
  3. 생각해 보아라. 너도 전에 많은 사람을 가르치기도 하고, 힘없는 자들의 두 팔을 굳세게 붙들어 주기도 했으며,
  4. 쓰러지는 이들을 격려하여 일어나게도 하고, 힘이 빠진 이들의 무릎을 굳게 붙들어 주기도 했다.
  5. 이제 이 일을 정작 네가 당하니까 너는 짜증스러워하고, 이 일이 정작 네게 닥치니까 낙담하는구나!
  1. "Is not your fear of God your confidence, And the integrity of your ways your hope?
  2. "Remember now, who ever perished being innocent? Or where were the upright destroyed?
  3. "According to what I have seen, those who plow iniquity And those who sow trouble harvest it.
  4. "By the breath of God they perish, And by the blast of His anger they come to an end.
  5. "The roaring of the lion and the voice of the fierce lion, And the teeth of the young lions are broken.
  1. 하나님을 경외하는 것이 네 믿음이고, 온전한 길을 걷는 것이 네 희망이 아니냐?
  2. 잘 생각해 보아라. 죄 없는 사람이 망한 일이 있더냐? 정직한 사람이 멸망한 일이 있더냐?
  3. 내가 본 대로는, 악을 갈아 재난을 뿌리는 자는 그대로 거두더라.
  4. 모두 하나님의 입김에 쓸려 가고, 그의 콧김에 날려 갈 것들이다.
  5. 사자의 울부짖음도 잠잠해지고, 사나운 사자의 울부짖음도 그치는 날이 있다. 힘센 사자도 이빨이 부러진다.
  1. "The lion perishes for lack of prey, And the whelps of the lioness are scattered.
  2. "Now a word was brought to me stealthily, And my ear received a whisper of it.
  3. "Amid disquieting thoughts from the visions of the night, When deep sleep falls on men,
  4. Dread came upon me, and trembling, And made all my bones shake.
  5. "Then a spirit passed by my face; The hair of my flesh bristled up.
  1. 사자도, 늙어서 먹이를 잡지 못하면, 어미를 따르던 새끼 사자들이 뿔뿔이 흩어진다.
  2. 한번은 조용한 가운데 어떤 소리가 들려 오는데, 너무도 조용하여 겨우 알아들었다.
  3. 그 소리가 악몽처럼 나를 괴롭혔다.
  4. 두려움과 떨림이 나를 엄습하여, 뼈들이 막 흔들렸다.
  5. 어떤 영이 내 앞을 지나가니, 온몸의 털이 곤두섰다.
  1. "It stood still, but I could not discern its appearance; A form was before my eyes; There was silence, then I heard a voice:
  2. 'Can mankind be just before God? Can a man be pure before his Maker?
  3. 'He puts no trust even in His servants; And against His angels He charges error.
  4. 'How much more those who dwell in houses of clay, Whose foundation is in the dust, Who are crushed before the moth!
  5. 'Between morning and evening they are broken in pieces; Unobserved, they perish forever.
  1. 영이 멈추어 서기는 했으나 그 모습은 알아볼 수 없고, 형체가 어렴풋이 눈에 들어왔는데, 죽은 듯 조용한 가운데서 나는 이런 소리를 들었다.
  2. "인간이 하나님보다 의로울 수 있겠으며, 사람이 창조주보다 깨끗할 수 있겠느냐?
  3. 하나님은 하늘에 있는 당신의 종들까지도 믿지 않으시고, 천사들에게마저도 허물이 있다고 하시는데,
  4. 하물며, 흙으로 만든 몸을 입고 티끌로 터를 삼고, 하루살이에게라도 눌려 죽을 사람이겠느냐?
  5. 사람은, 아침에는 살아 있다가도, 저녁이 오기 전에 예고도 없이 죽는 것, 별수 없이 모두들 영원히 망하고 만다.
  1. 'Is not their tent-cord plucked up within them? They die, yet without wisdom.'
  1. 생명 줄만 끊기면 사람은 그냥 죽고, 그 줄이 끊기면 지혜를 찾지 못하고 죽어간다."
 
 
  1. "Call now, is there anyone who will answer you? And to which of the holy ones will you turn?
  2. "For anger slays the foolish man, And jealousy kills the simple.
  3. "I have seen the foolish taking root, And I cursed his abode immediately.
  4. "His sons are far from safety, They are even oppressed in the gate, And there is no deliverer.
  5. "His harvest the hungry devour And take it to a place of thorns, And the schemer is eager for their wealth.
  1. 어서 부르짖어 보아라. 네게 응답하는 이가 있겠느냐? 하늘에 있는 거룩한 이들 가운데서, 그 누구에게 하소연을 할 수 있겠느냐?
  2. 미련한 사람은 자기의 분노 때문에 죽고, 어리석은 사람은 자기의 질투 때문에 죽는 법이다.
  3. 어리석은 사람의 뿌리가 뽑히고, 어리석은 자의 집이 순식간에 망하는 것을, 내가 직접 보았다.
  4. 그런 자의 자식들은 도움을 받을 데가 없어서, 재판에서 억울한 일을 당해도, 구해 주는 이가 없었고,
  5. 그런 자들이 거두어들인 것은, 굶주린 사람이 먹어 치운다. 가시나무 밭에서 자란 것까지 먹어 치운다. 목마른 사람이 그의 재산을 삼켜 버린다.
  1. "For affliction does not come from the dust, Nor does trouble sprout from the ground,
  2. For man is born for trouble, As sparks fly upward.
  3. "But as for me, I would seek God, And I would place my cause before God;
  4. Who does great and unsearchable things, Wonders without number.
  5. "He gives rain on the earth And sends water on the fields,
  1. 재앙이 흙에서 일어나는 법도 없고, 고난이 땅에서 솟아나는 법도 없다.
  2. 인간이 고난을 타고 태어나는 것은, 불티가 위로 나는 것과 같은 이치이다.
  3. 나 같으면 하나님을 찾아서, 내 사정을 하나님께 털어놓겠다.
  4. 그분은 우리가 측량할 수 없는 큰 일을 하시며, 우리가 헤아릴 수 없는 기이한 일을 하신다.
  5. 땅에 비를 내리시며, 밭에 물을 주시는 분이시다.
  1. So that He sets on high those who are lowly, And those who mourn are lifted to safety.
  2. "He frustrates the plotting of the shrewd, So that their hands cannot attain success.
  3. "He captures the wise by their own shrewdness, And the advice of the cunning is quickly thwarted.
  4. "By day they meet with darkness, And grope at noon as in the night.
  5. "But He saves from the sword of their mouth, And the poor from the hand of the mighty.
  1. 낮은 사람을 높이시고, 슬퍼하는 사람에게 구원을 보장해 주시며,
  2. 간교한 사람의 계획을 꺾으시어 그 일을 이루지 못하게 하신다.
  3. 지혜롭다고 하는 자들을 제 꾀에 속게 하시고, 교활한 자들의 꾀를 금방 실패로 돌아가게 하시니,
  4. 대낮에도 어둠을 만날 것이고, 한낮에도 밤중처럼 더듬을 것이다.
  5. 그러나 하나님은 가난한 사람들을 그들의 칼날 같은 입과 억센 손아귀로부터 구출하신다.
  1. "So the helpless has hope, And unrighteousness must shut its mouth.
  2. "Behold, how happy is the man whom God reproves, So do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.
  3. "For He inflicts pain, and gives relief; He wounds, and His hands also heal.
  4. "From six troubles He will deliver you, Even in seven evil will not touch you.
  5. "In famine He will redeem you from death, And in war from the power of the sword.
  1. 그러니까, 비천한 사람은 희망을 가지지만, 불의한 사람은 스스로 입을 다물 수밖에 없다.
  2. 하나님께 징계를 받는 사람은, 그래도 복된 사람이다. 그러니 전능하신 분의 훈계를 거절하지 말아라.
  3. 하나님은 찌르기도 하시지만 싸매어 주기도 하시며, 상하게도 하시지만 손수 낫게도 해주신다.
  4. 그는 여섯 가지 환난에서도 너를 구원하여 주시며, 일곱 가지 환난에서도 재앙이 네게 미치지 않게 해주시며,
  5. 기근 가운데서도 너를 굶어 죽지 않게 하시며, 전쟁이 벌어져도 너를 칼에서 구해 주실 것이다.
  1. "You will be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, And you will not be afraid of violence when it comes.
  2. "You will laugh at violence and famine, And you will not be afraid of wild beasts.
  3. "For you will be in league with the stones of the field, And the beasts of the field will be at peace with you.
  4. "You will know that your tent is secure, For you will visit your abode and fear no loss.
  5. "You will know also that your descendants will be many, And your offspring as the grass of the earth.
  1. 너는 혀의 저주를 피할 수 있어, 파멸이 다가와도 두려워하지 않을 것이다.
  2. 약탈과 굶주림쯤은 비웃어 넘길 수 있고, 들짐승을 두려워하지도 않을 것이다.
  3. 너는 들에 흩어진 돌과도 계약을 맺으며, 들짐승과도 평화롭게 지내게 될 것이다.
  4. 그래서 너는 집안이 두루 평안한 것을 볼 것이며, 가축 우리를 두루 살필 때마다 잃은 것이 없는 것을 볼 것이다.
  5. 또 자손도 많이 늘어나서, 땅에 풀같이 많아지는 것을 보게 될 것이다.
  1. "You will come to the grave in full vigor, Like the stacking of grain in its season.
  2. "Behold this; we have investigated it, and so it is. Hear it, and know for yourself."
  1. 때가 되면, 곡식단이 타작 마당으로 가듯이, 너도 장수를 누리다가 수명이 다 차면, 무덤으로 들어갈 것이다.
  2. 이것은 우리가 지금까지 살펴본 것이니 틀림없는 사실이다. 부디 잘 듣고, 너 스스로를 생각해서라도 명심하기 바란다.
 
  욥의 대답(6:1-6:30)    
 
  1. Then Job answered,
  2. "Oh that my grief were actually weighed And laid in the balances together with my calamity!
  3. "For then it would be heavier than the sand of the seas; Therefore my words have been rash.
  4. "For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, Their poison my spirit drinks; The terrors of God are arrayed against me.
  5. "Does the wild donkey bray over his grass, Or does the ox low over his fodder?
  1. 욥이 대답하였다.
  2. 아, 내가 겪은 고난을 모두 저울에 달아 볼 수 있고, 내가 당하는 고통을 모두 저울에 올릴 수 있다면,
  3. 틀림없이, 바다의 모래보다 더 무거울 것이니, 내 말이 거칠었던 것은 이 때문이다.
  4. 전능하신 분께서 나를 과녁으로 삼고 화살을 쏘시니, 내 영혼이 그 독을 빤다. 하나님이 나를 몰아치셔서 나를 두렵게 하신다.
  5. 풀이 있는데 나귀가 울겠느냐? 꼴이 있는데 소가 울겠느냐?
  1. "Can something tasteless be eaten without salt, Or is there any taste in the white of an egg?
  2. "My soul refuses to touch them; They are like loathsome food to me.
  3. "Oh that my request might come to pass, And that God would grant my longing!
  4. "Would that God were willing to crush me, That He would loose His hand and cut me off!
  5. "But it is still my consolation, And I rejoice in unsparing pain, That I have not denied the words of the Holy One.
  1. 싱거운 음식을 양념도 치지 않고 먹을 수 있겠느냐? 달걀 흰자위를 무슨 맛으로 먹겠느냐?
  2. 그런 것들은 생각만 해도 구역질이 난다. 냄새조차도 맡기가 싫다.
  3. 누가 내 소망을 이루어 줄까? 하나님이 내 소원을 이루어 주신다면,
  4. 하나님이 나를 부수시고, 손을 들어 나를 깨뜨려 주시면,
  5. 그것이 오히려 내게 위로가 되고, 이렇게 무자비한 고통 속에서도 그것이 오히려 내게 기쁨이 될 것이다. 나는 거룩하신 분의 말씀을 거역하지 않았다.
  1. "What is my strength, that I should wait? And what is my end, that I should endure?
  2. "Is my strength the strength of stones, Or is my flesh bronze?
  3. "Is it that my help is not within me, And that deliverance is driven from me?
  4. "For the despairing man there should be kindness from his friend; So that he does not forsake the fear of the Almighty.
  5. "My brothers have acted deceitfully like a wadi, Like the torrents of wadis which vanish,
  1. 그러나 내게 무슨 기력이 있어서 더 견뎌 내겠으며, 얼마나 더 살겠다고, 더 버텨 내겠는가?
  2. 내 기력이 돌의 기력이라도 되느냐? 내 몸이 놋쇠라도 되느냐?
  3. 나를 도와줄 이도 없지 않으냐? 도움을 구하러 갈 곳도 없지 않으냐?
  4. 내가 전능하신 분을 경외하든 말든, 내가 이러한 절망 속에서 허덕일 때야말로, 친구가 필요한데,
  5. 친구라는 것들은 물이 흐르다가도 마르고 말랐다가도 흐르는 개울처럼 미덥지 못하고, 배신감만 느끼게 하는구나.
  1. Which are turbid because of ice And into which the snow melts.
  2. "When they become waterless, they are silent, When it is hot, they vanish from their place.
  3. "The paths of their course wind along, They go up into nothing and perish.
  4. "The caravans of Tema looked, The travelers of Sheba hoped for them.
  5. "They were disappointed for they had trusted, They came there and were confounded.
  1. 얼음이 녹으면 흙탕물이 흐르고, 눈이 녹으면 물이 넘쳐흐르다가도,
  2. 날이 더워지면 쉬 마르고, 날이 뜨거워지면 흔적조차 없어지고 마는 개울.
  3. 물이 줄기를 따라서 굽이쳐 흐르다가도, 메마른 땅에 이르면 곧 끊어지고 마는 개울.
  4. 데마의 대상들도 물을 찾으려 했고, 스바의 행인들도 그 개울에 희망을 걸었지만,
  5. 그들이 거기에 이르러서는 실망하고 말았다. 그 개울에 물이 흐를 것이라는 기대를 했던 것을 오히려 부끄러워하였다.
  1. "Indeed, you have now become such, You see a terror and are afraid.
  2. "Have I said, 'Give me something,' Or, 'Offer a bribe for me from your wealth,'
  3. Or, 'Deliver me from the hand of the adversary,' Or, 'Redeem me from the hand of the tyrants'?
  4. "Teach me, and I will be silent; And show me how I have erred.
  5. "How painful are honest words! But what does your argument prove?
  1. 너희가 이 개울과 무엇이 다르냐? 너희도 내 몰골을 보고서, 두려워서 떨고 있지 않느냐?
  2. 내가 너희더러 이거 내놓아라 저거 내놓아라 한 적이 있느냐? 너희의 재산을 떼어서라도, 내 목숨 살려 달라고 말한 적이 있느냐?
  3. 아니면, 원수의 손에서 나를 건져 달라고 하길 했느냐, 폭군의 세력으로부터 나를 속량해 달라고 부탁하기라도 했느냐?
  4. 어디, 알아듣게 말 좀 해 보아라. 내가 귀기울여 듣겠다. 내 잘못이 무엇인지 말해 보아라.
  5. 바른 말은 힘이 있는 법이다. 그런데 너희는 정말 무엇을 책망하는 것이냐?
  1. "Do you intend to reprove my words, When the words of one in despair belong to the wind?
  2. "You would even cast lots for the orphans And barter over your friend.
  3. "Now please look at me, And see if I lie to your face.
  4. "Desist now, let there be no injustice; Even desist, my righteousness is yet in it.
  5. "Is there injustice on my tongue? Cannot my palate discern calamities?
  1. 너희는 남의 말 꼬투리나 잡으려는 것이 아니냐? 절망에 빠진 사람의 말이란, 바람과 같을 뿐이 아니냐?
  2. 너희는, 고아라도 제비를 뽑아 노예로 넘기고, 이익을 챙길 일이라면 친구라도 서슴지 않고 팔아 넘길 자들이다.
  3. 내 얼굴 좀 보아라. 내가 얼굴을 맞대고 거짓말이야 하겠느냐?
  4. 너희는 잘 생각해 보아라. 내가 억울한 일을 당하지 않게 해야 한다. 다시 한 번 더 돌이켜라. 내 정직이 의심받지 않게 해야 한다.
  5. 내가 혀를 놀려서, 옳지 않은 말을 한 일이라도 있느냐? 내가 입을 벌려서, 분별없이 떠든 일이라도 있느냐?
