- 거만한 사람은 지혜를 구해도 얻지 못하지만, 명철한 사람은 쉽게 지식을 얻는다.
- 미련한 사람의 앞을 떠나라. 네가 그의 말에서 지식을 배우지 못할 것이다.
- 슬기로운 사람의 지혜는 자기가 가는 길을 깨닫게 하지만, 미련한 사람의 어리석음은 자기를 속인다.
- 어리석은 사람은 속죄제사를 우습게 여기지만, 정직한 사람은 하나님의 은총을 누린다.
- 마음의 고통은 자기만 알고, 마음의 기쁨도 남이 나누어 가지지 못한다.

- 웃어도 마음이 아플 때가 있고, 즐거워도 끝에 가서 슬플 때가 있다.
- 마음이 비뚤어진 사람은 자기가 한 만큼 보응을 받고, 선한 사람도 자기가 한 만큼 보응을 받는다.
- 어수룩한 사람은 모든 말을 다 믿지만, 슬기로운 사람은 행동을 삼간다.
