에스겔 18:1-20:9

 이스라엘이 화를 당하는 이유가 조상들에게 있다고 원망하는 백성들에게 하나님께서는 사람이 오직 자신의 행위에 따라 심판받게 된다고 말씀하셨으며, 방백들을 위한 애가를 통해 유다의 멸망을 예언하셨다. 또한 야웨께 묻기 위해 선지자에게 온 이스라엘 장로들을 책망하시며, 과거에 이스라엘이 애굽에서 하나님의 은혜에도 불구하고 우상을 숭배했었다고 말씀하셨다.
  
  심판의 개별성(18:1-18:32)    
 
  1. Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
  2. "What do you mean by using this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, 'The fathers eat the sour grapes, But the children's teeth are set on edge'?
  3. "As I live," declares the Lord GOD, "you are surely not going to use this proverb in Israel anymore.
  4. "Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine The soul who sins will die.
  5. "But if a man is righteous and practices justice and righteousness,
  1. 주님께서 나에게 말씀하셨다.
  2. "너희가 어찌하여 이스라엘 땅에서 아직도 '아버지가 신 포도를 먹으면, 아들의 이가 시다' 하는 속담을 입에 담고 있느냐?
  3. 나 주 하나님의 말이다. 내가 나의 삶을 두고 맹세한다. 너희 가운데서 어느 누구도 다시는 이스라엘에서 이런 속담을 입에 담지 못할 것이다.
  4. 모든 영혼은 나의 것이다. 아버지의 영혼이나 아들의 영혼이 똑같이 나의 것이니, 범죄하는 그 영혼이 죽을 것이다.
  5. 어떤 사람이 의로워서 법과 의를 실천한다고 하자.
  1. and does not eat at the mountain shrines or lift up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, or defile his neighbor's wife or approach a woman during her menstrual period--
  2. if a man does not oppress anyone, but restores to the debtor his pledge, does not commit robbery, but gives his bread to the hungry and covers the naked with clothing,
  3. if he does not lend money on interest or take increase, if he keeps his hand from iniquity and executes true justice between man and man,
  4. if he walks in My statutes and My ordinances so as to deal faithfully--he is righteous and will surely live," declares the Lord GOD.
  5. "Then he may have a violent son who sheds blood and who does any of these things to a brother
  1. 그가 산 위에서 우상에게 바친 제물을 먹지 않으며, 이스라엘 족속의 우상들에게 눈을 팔지 않으며, 이웃의 아내를 범하지 않으며, 월경을 하고 있는 아내를 가까이 하지 않으며,
  2. 사람을 학대하지 않으며, 빚진 사람의 전당물을 돌려 주며, 아무것도 강제로 빼앗지 않으며, 굶주린 사람에게 먹을 것을 주며, 헐벗은 사람에게 옷을 입혀 주며,
  3. 돈놀이를 하지 않으며, 이자를 받지 않으며, 흉악한 일에서 손을 떼며, 사람과 사람 사이에서 공정한 판결을 내리며,
  4. 나의 모든 율례대로 살아 가며, 나의 모든 규례를 지켜서 진실하게 행동하면, 그는 의로운 사람이니, 반드시 살 것이다. 나 주 하나님의 말이다.
  5. 그런데 그가 아들을 하나 낳았다고 하자. 그 아들이 이 모든 선은 하나도 행하지 않고, 이들 악 가운데서 하나를 범하여 폭력을 휘두르거나, 사람을 죽여 피를 흘리게 하거나,
  1. (though he himself did not do any of these things), that is, he even eats at the mountain shrines, and defiles his neighbor's wife,
  2. oppresses the poor and needy, commits robbery, does not restore a pledge, but lifts up his eyes to the idols and commits abomination,
  3. he lends money on interest and takes increase; will he live? He will not live! He has committed all these abominations, he will surely be put to death; his blood will be on his own head.
  4. "Now behold, he has a son who has observed all his father's sins which he committed, and observing does not do likewise.
  5. "He does not eat at the mountain shrines or lift up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, or defile his neighbor's wife,
  1. 아버지와는 반대로 산 위에서 우상에게 바친 제물을 먹거나, 이웃의 아내를 범하거나,
  2. 가난하고 어려운 사람을 학대하거나, 강제로 빼앗거나, 전당물을 돌려 주지 않거나, 온갖 우상들에게 눈을 팔거나, 역겨운 일을 하거나,
  3. 돈놀이를 하거나, 이자를 받거나 하면, 그가 살 수 있겠느냐? 그는 절대로 살지 못할 것이니, 이 모든 역겨운 일을 하였으므로, 죽을 수밖에 없다. 자기의 피가 자기에게로 돌아갈 것이다.
  4. 그런데 이 의롭지 못한 그가 아들을 하나 낳았다고 하자. 그 아들이 자기 아버지가 지은 모든 죄를 보고 두려워하여서, 그대로 따라 하지 않고,
  5. 산 위에서 우상에게 바친 제물을 먹지도 않으며, 이스라엘 족속의 우상들에게 눈을 팔지도 않으며, 이웃의 아내를 범하지도 않으며,
  1. or oppress anyone, or retain a pledge, or commit robbery, but he gives his bread to the hungry and covers the naked with clothing,
  2. he keeps his hand from the poor, does not take interest or increase, but executes My ordinances, and walks in My statutes; he will not die for his father's iniquity, he will surely live.
  3. "As for his father, because he practiced extortion, robbed his brother and did what was not good among his people, behold, he will die for his iniquity.
  4. "Yet you say, 'Why should the son not bear the punishment for the father's iniquity?' When the son has practiced justice and righteousness and has observed all My statutes and done them, he shall surely live.
  5. "The person who sins will die The son will not bear the punishment for the father's iniquity, nor will the father bear the punishment for the son's iniquity; the righteousness of the righteous will be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked will be upon himself.
  1. 아무도 학대하지 않으며, 전당물을 잡아 두지도 않으며, 강제로 빼앗지도 않고, 굶주린 사람에게 먹을 것을 주며, 벗은 사람에게 옷을 입혀 주며,
  2. 흉악한 일에서 손을 떼고, 가난한 자를 압제하지 않으며, 돈놀이를 하지 않으며, 이자를 받지 않으며, 나의 규례를 실천하고, 나의 율례대로 살아가면, 이 사람은 자기 아버지의 죄악 때문에 죽지 않고, 반드시 살 것이다.
  3. 그렇지만 그의 아버지는 심히 난폭하여 동족을 학대하고, 친척의 것을 강제로 빼앗고, 자기 민족 가운데서 좋지 않은 일을 하였으므로, 그는 자신의 죄악 때문에 죽을 것이다.
  4. 그런데 너희는, 왜 그 아들이 아버지의 죄에 대한 벌을 받지 않느냐고 묻는다. 그러나 그 아들은 법과 의를 실천하며, 나의 율례를 다 지키고 그것들을 실천하였으므로, 그는 반드시 살 것이다.
  5. 죄를 지은 영혼 바로 그 사람이 죽을 것이며, 아들은 아버지의 죄에 대한 벌을 받지 않을 것이며, 아버지가 아들의 죄에 대한 벌도 받지 않을 것이다. 의인의 의도 자신에게로 돌아가고, 악인의 악도 자신에게로 돌아갈 것이다.
  1. "But if the wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed and observes all My statutes and practices justice and righteousness, he shall surely live; he shall not die.
  2. "All his transgressions which he has committed will not be remembered against him; because of his righteousness which he has practiced, he will live.
  3. "Do I have any pleasure in the death of the wicked," declares the Lord GOD, "rather than that he should turn from his ways and live?
  4. "But when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, commits iniquity and does according to all the abominations that a wicked man does, will he live? All his righteous deeds which he has done will not be remembered for his treachery which he has committed and his sin which he has committed; for them he will die.
  5. "Yet you say, 'The way of the Lord is not right ' Hear now, O house of Israel! Is My way not right? Is it not your ways that are not right?
  1. 그러나 악인이라도 자기가 저지른 모든 죄악에서 떠나 돌이켜서, 나의 율례를 다 지키고 법과 의를 실천하면, 그는 반드시 살고, 죽지 않을 것이다.
  2. 그가 지은 모든 죄악을, 내가 다시는 더 기억하지 않을 것이다. 그는 자신이 지킨 의 때문에 살 것이다.
  3. 나 주 하나님의 말이다. 악인이 죽는 것을, 내가 조금이라도 기뻐하겠느냐? 오히려 악인이 자신의 모든 길에서 돌이켜서 사는 것을, 내가 참으로 기뻐하지 않겠느냐?
  4. 그러나 의인이 자신의 의를 버리고 돌아서서 죄를 범하고, 악인이 저지르는 모든 역겨운 일을 똑같이 하면, 그가 살 수가 있겠느냐? 그가 지킨 모든 의는 전혀 기억되지 않을 것이다. 그는 자신의 불성실과 자신이 지은 죄 때문에 죽을 것이다.
  5. 그런데 너희는, 내가 일을 처리하는 방법이 공평하지 못하다는 말을 하는구나. 이스라엘 족속아, 너희는 잘 들어라. 내가 일하는 방법이 어찌 공평하지 않으냐? 너희가 하는 행실이 오히려 공평하지 않은 것이 아니냐?
  1. "When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, commits iniquity and dies because of it, for his iniquity which he has committed he will die.
  2. "Again, when a wicked man turns away from his wickedness which he has committed and practices justice and righteousness, he will save his life.
  3. "Because he considered and turned away from all his transgressions which he had committed, he shall surely live; he shall not die.
  4. "But the house of Israel says, 'The way of the Lord is not right.' Are My ways not right, O house of Israel? Is it not your ways that are not right?
  5. "Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, each according to his conduct," declares the Lord GOD. "Repent and turn away from all your transgressions, so that iniquity may not become a stumbling block to you.
  1. 의인이 자신의 의를 버리고 돌아서서, 죄를 짓다가, 그것 때문에 죽는다면, 그는 자신이 지은 죄 때문에 죽는 것이다.
  2. 그러나 악인이라도, 자신이 저지른 죄에서 떠나 돌이켜서, 법대로 살며, 의를 행하면, 자기의 목숨을 보전할 것이다.
  3. 그가 스스로 깨닫고, 자신이 지은 모든 죄에서 떠나 돌이켰으니, 그는 반드시 살 것이요, 죽지 않을 것이다.
  4. 그런데도 이스라엘 족속은, 내가 일하는 방법이 공평하지 않다는 말을 하는구나. 이스라엘 족속아, 내가 일하는 방법이 어찌 공평하지 않으냐? 너희가 하는 행실이 오히려 공평하지 않은 것이 아니냐?
  5. 나 주 하나님의 말이다. 그러므로 이스라엘 족속아, 나는 너희 각 사람이 한 일에 따라서 너희를 심판하겠다. 너희는 회개하고, 너희의 모든 범죄에서 떠나 돌이켜라. 그렇게 하면, 죄가 장애물이 되어 너희를 넘어뜨리는 일이 없을 것이다.
  1. "Cast away from you all your transgressions which you have committed and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! For why will you die, O house of Israel?
  2. "For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies," declares the Lord GOD. "Therefore, repent and live."
  1. 너희는, 너희가 지은 죄를 모두 너희 자신에게서 떨쳐내 버리고, 마음과 영을 새롭게 하여라. 이스라엘 족속아, 너희가 왜 죽고자 하느냐?
  2. 죽을 죄를 지은 사람이라도, 그가 죽는 것을 나는 절대로 기뻐하지 않는다. 그러므로 너희는 회개하고 살아라. 나 주 하나님의 말이다."
 
  방백들을 위한 애가(19:1-19:14)    
 
  1. "As for you, take up a lamentation for the princes of Israel
  2. and say, 'What was your mother? A lioness among lions! She lay down among young lions, She reared her cubs.
  3. 'When she brought up one of her cubs, He became a lion, And he learned to tear his prey; He devoured men.
  4. 'Then nations heard about him; He was captured in their pit, And they brought him with hooks To the land of Egypt.
  5. 'When she saw, as she waited, That her hope was lost, She took another of her cubs And made him a young lion.
  1. "너는 이스라엘의 지도자들에게 불러 줄 애가를 지어라.
  2. 너는 이렇게 불러라. '너의 어머니는 누구였느냐? 사자들 가운데 엎드려 있으면서, 젊은 사자들 틈에서 제 새끼들을 기르던 암사자였다.
  3. 그 새끼들 가운데서 하나를 키웠더니, 젊은 사자가 되었다. 그가 사냥하는 것을 배워, 사람을 잡아 먹으니,
  4. 이방 민족들이 이 소식을 듣고, 함정을 파서 그를 잡아 갈고리로 꿰서, 이집트 땅으로 끌어 갔다.
  5. 암사자는 새끼를 기다리다가 희망이 끊어진 것을 깨닫고, 제 새끼들 가운데서 다른 것을 하나 골라, 젊은 사자로 키웠더니,
  1. 'And he walked about among the lions; He became a young lion, He learned to tear his prey; He devoured men.
  2. 'He destroyed their fortified towers And laid waste their cities; And the land and its fullness were appalled Because of the sound of his roaring.
  3. 'Then nations set against him On every side from their provinces, And they spread their net over him; He was captured in their pit.
  4. 'They put him in a cage with hooks And brought him to the king of Babylon; They brought him in hunting nets So that his voice would be heard no more On the mountains of Israel.
  5. 'Your mother was like a vine in your vineyard, Planted by the waters; It was fruitful and full of branches Because of abundant waters.
  1. 그가 사자들 가운데서 어울리며, 젊은 사자가 되었다. 그가 사냥하는 것을 배워, 사람을 잡아 먹으며
  2. 그들의 거처를 모두 파괴하니, 성읍들이 황량해지고 그의 으르렁대는 소리에 땅과 그 안에 가득 찬 것이 황폐해졌다.
  3. 그러자 이방 민족들이 그를 치려고 사방 여러 지역에서 와서, 그의 위에 그물을 치고 함정을 파서 잡아
  4. 갈고리로 그의 코를 꿰어 철창에 넣어서, 바빌로니아 왕에게로 데리고 갔다. 그들은 그의 으르렁대는 소리가 다시는 이스라엘의 모든 산에 들리지 않게, 그를 감옥에 가두었다.
  5. 네 어머니는 네 포도원 안에 있는 물가에 심은 포도나무 같아서, 물이 많으므로 열매가 많고 가지가 무성하며,
  1. 'And it had strong branches fit for scepters of rulers, And its height was raised above the clouds So that it was seen in its height with the mass of its branches.
  2. 'But it was plucked up in fury; It was cast down to the ground; And the east wind dried up its fruit Its strong branch was torn off So that it withered; The fire consumed it.
  3. 'And now it is planted in the wilderness, In a dry and thirsty land.
  4. 'And fire has gone out from its branch; It has consumed its shoots and fruit, So that there is not in it a strong branch, A scepter to rule.'" This is a lamentation, and has become a lamentation.
  1. 그 가지 가운데 가장 센 가지가 통치자의 통치 지팡이가 되었다. 그 하나가 굵고 큰 가지들보다 더 높이 솟았고 많은 가지 가운데서 우뚝 솟았으나
  2. 그 포도나무가 분노 가운데 뽑혀서 땅바닥에 던져지니, 그 열매가 동풍에 마르고, 그 튼튼한 가지들은 꺾이고 말라서, 불에 타 버렸다.
  3. 이제는 그 나무가 광야에, 가물고 메마른 땅에 심겨 있다.
  4. 그 가운데 큰 가지에서 불이 솟아 나와 그 가지와 열매를 태워 버리니, 통치자들의 통치 지팡이가 될 만한 튼튼한 가지가 하나도 남지 않았다.'"이것은 애가인데, 사람들이 부르고 또 불렀다.
 
  유다의 패역상(20:1-20:9)    
 
  1. Now in the seventh year, in the fifth month, on the tenth of the month, certain of the elders of Israel came to inquire of the LORD, and sat before me.
  2. And the word of the LORD came to me saying,
  3. "Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel and say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "Do you come to inquire of Me? As I live," declares the Lord GOD, "I will not be inquired of by you."'
  4. "Will you judge them, will you judge them, son of man? Make them know the abominations of their fathers;
  5. and say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "On the day when I chose Israel and swore to the descendants of the house of Jacob and made Myself known to them in the land of Egypt, when I swore to them, saying, I am the LORD your God,
  1. 제 칠년 다섯째 달 십일에 이스라엘의 장로들 가운데서 몇 사람이, 주님의 뜻을 물으려고 나에게 와서, 내 앞에 앉았다.
  2. 그 때에 주님께서 나에게 말씀하셨다.
  3. "사람아, 너는 이스라엘의 장로들에게 이야기하고, 그들에게 전하여라. '나 주 하나님이 말한다. 너희가 나의 뜻을 물으려고 와 있느냐? 내가 나의 삶을 두고 맹세한다. 나는 너희가 묻는 것을 허락하지 않겠다. 나 주 하나님의 말이다' 하고 말하여라.
  4. 너 사람아, 오히려 네가 그들을 심판해야 하지 않겠느냐? 사람아, 네가 그들을 심판해야 하지 않겠느냐? 그들의 조상이 저지른 역겨운 일을 그들에게 알려 주어라.
  5. 너는 '주 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다' 하고 그들에게 일러주어라. 내가 옛날에 이스라엘을 선택하고, 야곱 집의 자손에게 손을 들어 맹세하고, 이집트 땅에서 나 자신을 그들에게 알려 주고, 그들에게 손을 들고 맹세할 때에 내가 그들의 주 하나님이라고 일러주었다.
  1. on that day I swore to them, to bring them out from the land of Egypt into a land that I had selected for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands.
  2. "I said to them, 'Cast away, each of you, the detestable things of his eyes, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt; I am the LORD your God.'
  3. "But they rebelled against Me and were not willing to listen to Me; they did not cast away the detestable things of their eyes, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt Then I resolved to pour out My wrath on them, to accomplish My anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.
  4. "But I acted for the sake of My name, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations among whom they lived, in whose sight I made Myself known to them by bringing them out of the land of Egypt.
  1. 그 날에 나는 그들에게 손을 들어 맹세하기를, 그들을 이집트 땅에서 이끌어 내서, 내가 이미 그들에게 주려고 골라 두었던 땅, 곧 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅이요, 모든 땅 가운데서 가장 아름다운 땅으로 인도하겠다고 하였다.
  2. 내가 또 그들에게 일러주었다. 각자 눈을 팔게 하는 우상들을 내던지고, 이집트의 우상들로 그들 자신을 더럽히지 말라고 하였다. 나는 주 그들의 하나님이라고 말하였는데도
  3. 그들은 나에게 반역하고, 나의 말을 들으려고 하지 않았다. 어느 누구도 그들을 현혹시키는 우상들을 내던지지 않았고, 이집트의 우상들도 버리지 않았다. 그래서 나는 이집트 땅의 한복판에서 그들 위에 나의 진노를 쏟아 부어, 그들에게 나의 분노를 풀겠다고 말하였다.
  4. 그러나 나는 나의 이름 때문에, 이방 민족의 한가운데 살던 이스라엘이, 그 모든 이방 민족이 보는 앞에서 나의 이름을 더럽히지 않게 하였으니, 바로 그 여러 민족이 보는 앞에서, 내가 그들을 이집트 땅에서 이끌어 냄으로써, 나 자신을 그들에게 알려 주었었다.
