- 마음이 지혜로운 사람을 명철하다 한다. 말이 부드러우면, 더욱 많은 지혜를 가르친다.
- 명철한 사람에게는 그 명철함이 생명의 샘이 되지만, 어리석은 사람에게는 그 어리석음이 벌이 된다.
- 마음이 지혜로운 사람은 말을 신중하게 하고, 하는 말에 설득력이 있다.
- 선한 말은 꿀송이 같아서, 마음을 즐겁게 하여 주고, 쑤시는 뼈를 낫게 하여 준다.

- 폭력을 쓰는 사람은 그 이웃을 윽박질러서, 좋지 않은 길을 가게 한다.
