아모스

  아모스가 활동할 당시의 북이스라엘은 경제적으로는 번영을 누렸으나 부정과 부패, 우상 숭배가 만연하였다. 이에 아모스는 하나님의 심판의 날을 선포하면서 백성들에게 공의를 행할 것과 하나님께 돌아올 것을 외쳤다.

  1장부터 2장까지는 유다를 포함한 이스라엘의 주변 7개 국가를 향한 심판의 메시지를 선포하고 있다. 그리고 3장부터 6장까지는 이스라엘에 임할 하나님의 심판의 불가피성을 밝힌 후, 심판을 피하는 길로 야웨 하나님을 찾고 공의를 행할 것을 외치고 있다. 7장부터 9장까지는 지금까지 예언한 이스라엘 멸망의 모습을 다섯 가지 환상을 통해 확인하면서 남은 자들의 회복과 메시아 왕국에 대한 하나님의 약속을 전하고 있다.

 

 

아모스 1:1-3:15

 아모스는 다메섹, 가사, 두로, 에돔, 암몬, 모압의 여섯 이방 나라와 남유다와 북이스라엘을 향해 하나님의 심판을 선포하였다. 이방 나라들은 서너 가지의 죄를 범했을 뿐 아니라 이스라엘을 대적했기에 하나님의 심판을 받게 되었다. 그리고 남유다는 야웨의 율법을 멸시하고 어긴 죄로, 북이스라엘은 사회적 불의와 우상 신전에서 가증한 짓을 행한 죄로 하나님의 심판을 받게 되었다.
  
  이방 나라의 심판(1:1-2:3)    
 
  1. The words of Amos, who was among the sheepherders from Tekoa, which he envisioned in visions concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
  2. He said, "The LORD roars from Zion And from Jerusalem He utters His voice; And the shepherds' pasture grounds mourn, And the summit of Carmel dries up."
  3. Thus says the LORD, "For three transgressions of Damascus and for four I will not revoke its punishment, Because they threshed Gilead with implements of sharp iron.
  4. "So I will send fire upon the house of Hazael And it will consume the citadels of Ben-hadad.
  5. "I will also break the gate bar of Damascus, And cut off the inhabitant from the valley of Aven, And him who holds the scepter, from Beth-eden; So the people of Aram will go exiled to Kir," Says the LORD.
  1. 드고아의 목자 아모스가 전한 말이다. 그가 이스라엘에 일어난 일의 계시를 볼 무렵에, 유다의 왕은 웃시야이고, 이스라엘의 왕은 요아스의 아들 여로보암이었다. 그가 계시를 본 것은, 지진이 일어나기 이 년 전이다.
  2. 아모스가 선포하였다. "주님께서 시온에서 부르짖으시며 예루살렘에서 큰소리로 외치시니, 목자의 초장이 시들고 갈멜 산 꼭대기가 마른다."
  3. "나 주가 선고한다. 다마스쿠스가 지은 서너 가지 죄를, 내가 용서하지 않겠다. 그들이 쇠도리깨로 타작하듯이, 길르앗을 타작하였기 때문이다.
  4. 그러므로 내가 하사엘의 집에 불을 보내겠다. 그 불이 벤하닷의 요새들을 삼킬 것이다.
  5. 내가 다마스쿠스의 성문 빗장을 부러뜨리고, 아웬 평야에서는 그 주민을 멸하고, 벳에덴에서는 왕권 잡은 자를 멸하겠다. 아람 백성은 기르로 끌려갈 것이다." 주님께서 말씀하신다.
  1. Thus says the LORD, "For three transgressions of Gaza and for four I will not revoke its punishment, Because they deported an entire population To deliver it up to Edom.
  2. "So I will send fire upon the wall of Gaza And it will consume her citadels.
  3. "I will also cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, And him who holds the scepter, from Ashkelon; I will even unleash My power upon Ekron, And the remnant of the Philistines will perish," Says the Lord GOD.
  4. Thus says the LORD, "For three transgressions of Tyre and for four I will not revoke its punishment, Because they delivered up an entire population to Edom And did not remember the covenant of brotherhood.
  5. "So I will send fire upon the wall of Tyre And it will consume her citadels."
  1. "나 주가 선고한다. 가사가 지은 서너 가지 죄를, 내가 용서하지 않겠다. 그들이 사로잡은 사람들을 모두 끌어다가, 에돔에 넘겨 주었기 때문이다.
  2. 그러므로 내가 가사 성에 불을 보내겠다. 그 불이 요새들을 삼킬 것이다.
  3. 내가 아스돗에서 그 주민을 멸하고, 아스글론에서 왕권 잡은 자를 멸하고, 손을 돌이켜 에그론을 치고, 블레셋 족속 가운데서 남은 자를 모조리 멸하겠다." 주 하나님이 말씀하신다.
  4. "나 주가 선고한다. 두로가 지은 서너 가지 죄를, 내가 용서하지 않겠다. 그들이 형제의 언약을 기억하지 않고 사로잡은 사람들을 모두 끌어다가, 에돔에 넘겨 주었기 때문이다.
  5. 그러므로 내가 두로 성에 불을 보내겠다. 그 불이 요새들을 삼킬 것이다."
  1. Thus says the LORD, "For three transgressions of Edom and for four I will not revoke its punishment, Because he pursued his brother with the sword, While he stifled his compassion; His anger also tore continually, And he maintained his fury forever.
  2. "So I will send fire upon Teman And it will consume the citadels of Bozrah."
  3. Thus says the LORD, "For three transgressions of the sons of Ammon and for four I will not revoke its punishment, Because they ripped open the pregnant women of Gilead In order to enlarge their borders.
  4. "So I will kindle a fire on the wall of Rabbah And it will consume her citadels Amid war cries on the day of battle, And a storm on the day of tempest.
  5. "Their king will go into exile, He and his princes together," says the LORD.
  1. "나 주가 선고한다. 에돔이 지은 서너 가지 죄를, 내가 용서하지 않겠다. 그들이 칼을 들고서 제 형제를 뒤쫓으며, 형제 사이의 정마저 끊고서, 늘 화를 내며, 끊임없이 분노를 품고 있기 때문이다.
  2. 그러므로 내가 데만에 불을 보내겠다. 그 불이 보스라의 요새들을 삼킬 것이다."
  3. "나 주가 선고한다. 암몬 자손이 지은 서너 가지 죄를, 내가 용서하지 않겠다. 그들이 땅을 넓히려고 길르앗으로 쳐들어가서 아이 밴 여인들의 배를 갈랐기 때문이다.
  4. 그러므로 내가 랍바 성벽에 불을 놓겠다. 그 불이 요새들을 삼킬 것이다. 그 때 거기에 전쟁 터지는 날의 함성 드높고, 회리바람 부는 날의 폭풍처럼 싸움이 치열할 것이다.
  5. 그들의 왕은 신하들과 함께 포로가 되어서 끌려갈 것이다." 주님께서 말씀하신다.
 
 
  1. Thus says the LORD, "For three transgressions of Moab and for four I will not revoke its punishment, Because he burned the bones of the king of Edom to lime.
  2. "So I will send fire upon Moab And it will consume the citadels of Kerioth; And Moab will die amid tumult, With war cries and the sound of a trumpet.
  3. "I will also cut off the judge from her midst And slay all her princes with him," says the LORD.
  1. "나 주가 선고한다. 모압이 지은 서너 가지 죄를, 내가 용서하지 않겠다. 그들이 에돔 왕의 뼈를 불태워서, 재로 만들었기 때문이다.
  2. 그러므로 내가 모압에 불을 보내겠다. 그 불이 그리욧 요새들을 삼킬 것이다. 함성과 나팔 소리가 요란한 가운데서, 모압이 멸망할 것이다.
  3. 모압의 통치자를 멸하고, 모든 신하들도 그와 함께 죽이겠다." 주님께서 말씀하신다.
 
  남유다와 북이스라엘의 심판(2:4-3:15)    
 
  1. Thus says the LORD, "For three transgressions of Judah and for four I will not revoke its punishment, Because they rejected the law of the LORD And have not kept His statutes; Their lies also have led them astray, Those after which their fathers walked.
  2. "So I will send fire upon Judah And it will consume the citadels of Jerusalem."
  3. Thus says the LORD, "For three transgressions of Israel and for four I will not revoke its punishment, Because they sell the righteous for money And the needy for a pair of sandals.
  4. "These who pant after the very dust of the earth on the head of the helpless Also turn aside the way of the humble; And a man and his father resort to the same girl In order to profane My holy name.
  5. "On garments taken as pledges they stretch out beside every altar, And in the house of their God they drink the wine of those who have been fined.
  1. "나 주가 선고한다. 유다가 지은 서너 가지 죄를, 내가 용서하지 않겠다. 그들이 주의 율법을 업신여기며, 내가 정한 율례를 지키지 않았고, 오히려 조상이 섬긴 거짓 신들에게 홀려서, 그릇된 길로 들어섰기 때문이다.
  2. 그러므로 내가 유다에 불을 보내겠다. 그 불이 예루살렘의 요새들을 삼킬 것이다."
  3. "나 주가 선고한다. 이스라엘이 지은 서너 가지 죄를, 내가 용서하지 않겠다. 그들이 돈을 받고 의로운 사람을 팔고, 신 한 켤레 값에 빈민을 팔았기 때문이다.
  4. 그들은 힘없는 사람들의 머리를 흙먼지 속에 처넣어서 짓밟고, 힘 약한 사람들의 길을 굽게 하였다. 아버지와 아들이 같은 여자에게 드나들며, 나의 거룩한 이름을 더럽혔다.
  5. 그들은 전당으로 잡은 옷을 모든 제단 옆에 펴 놓고는, 그 위에 눕고, 저희가 섬기는 하나님의 성전에서 벌금으로 거두어들인 포도주를 마시곤 하였다.
  1. "Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorite before them, Though his height was like the height of cedars And he was strong as the oaks; I even destroyed his fruit above and his root below.
  2. "It was I who brought you up from the land of Egypt, And I led you in the wilderness forty years That you might take possession of the land of the Amorite.
  3. "Then I raised up some of your sons to be prophets And some of your young men to be Nazirites. Is this not so, O sons of Israel?" declares the LORD.
  4. "But you made the Nazirites drink wine, And you commanded the prophets saying, 'You shall not prophesy!'
  5. "Behold, I am weighted down beneath you As a wagon is weighted down when filled with sheaves.
  1. 그런데도 나는 그들이 보는 앞에서 아모리 사람들을 멸하였다. 아모리 사람들이 비록 백향목처럼 키가 크고 상수리나무처럼 강하였지만, 내가 위로는 그 열매를 없애고 아래로는 그 뿌리를 잘라 버렸다.
  2. 내가 바로 너희를 이집트 땅에서 이끌어내어, 사십 년 동안 광야에서 인도하여 아모리 사람의 땅을 차지하게 하였다.
  3. 또 너희의 자손 가운데서 예언자가 나오게 하고, 너희의 젊은이들 가운데서 나실 사람이 나오게 하였다. 이스라엘 자손아, 사실이 그러하지 않으냐?" 주님께서 하신 말씀이다.
  4. "그러나 너희는 나실 사람에게 포도주를 먹이고, 예언자에게는 예언하지 말라고 명령하였다.
  5. 곡식단을 가득히 실은 수레가 짐에 짓눌려 가듯이, 내가 너희를 짓누르겠다.
  1. "Flight will perish from the swift, And the stalwart will not strengthen his power, Nor the mighty man save his life.
  2. "He who grasps the bow will not stand his ground, The swift of foot will not escape, Nor will he who rides the horse save his life.
  3. "Even the bravest among the warriors will flee naked in that day," declares the LORD.
  1. 아무리 잘 달리는 자도 달아날 수 없고, 강한 자도 힘을 쓰지 못하고, 용사도 제 목숨을 건질 수 없을 것이다.
  2. 활을 가진 자도 버틸 수 없고, 발이 빠른 자도 피할 수 없고, 말을 탄 자도 제 목숨을 건질 수 없을 것이다.
  3. 용사 가운데서 가장 용감한 자도, 그 날에는 벌거벗고 도망갈 것이다." 주님께서 하신 말씀이다.
 
 
  1. Hear this word which the LORD has spoken against you, sons of Israel, against the entire family which He brought up from the land of Egypt:
  2. "You only have I chosen among all the families of the earth; Therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities."
  3. Do two men walk together unless they have made an appointment?
  4. Does a lion roar in the forest when he has no prey? Does a young lion growl from his den unless he has captured something?
  5. Does a bird fall into a trap on the ground when there is no bait in it? Does a trap spring up from the earth when it captures nothing at all?
  1. "이스라엘 자손아, 이 말을 들어라. 이것은 나 주가 너희에게 내리는 심판의 말이다. 이집트 땅에서 데리고 올라온 모든 족속에게, 내가 선언한다.
  2. 나는 이 땅의 모든 족속들 가운데서 오직 너희만을 선택하였으나, 너희가 이 모든 악을 저질렀으니 내가 너희를 처벌하겠다."
  3. 두 사람이 미리 약속하지 않았는데, 그들이 같이 갈 수 있겠느냐?
  4. 사자가 먹이를 잡지 않았는데, 숲 속에서 부르짖겠느냐? 젊은 사자가 움켜잡은 것이 없는데, 굴 속에서 소리를 지르겠느냐?
  5. 덫을 놓지 않았는데, 새가 땅에 놓인 덫에 치이겠느냐? 아무것도 걸린 것이 없는데, 땅에서 새 덫이 튀어오르겠느냐?
  1. If a trumpet is blown in a city will not the people tremble? If a calamity occurs in a city has not the LORD done it?
  2. Surely the Lord GOD does nothing Unless He reveals His secret counsel To His servants the prophets.
  3. A lion has roared! Who will not fear? The Lord GOD has spoken! Who can but prophesy?
  4. Proclaim on the citadels in Ashdod and on the citadels in the land of Egypt and say, "Assemble yourselves on the mountains of Samaria and see the great tumults within her and the oppressions in her midst.
  5. "But they do not know how to do what is right," declares the LORD, "these who hoard up violence and devastation in their citadels."
  1. 성읍 안에서 비상나팔이 울리는데, 사람들이 두려워하지 않겠느냐? 어느 성읍에 재앙이 덮치면, 그것은 주님께서 하시는 일이 아니겠느냐?
  2. 참으로 주 하나님은, 당신의 비밀을 그 종 예언자들에게 미리 알리지 않고서는, 어떤 일도 하지 않으신다.
  3. 사자가 으르렁거리는데, 누가 겁내지 않겠느냐? 주 하나님이 말씀하시는데, 누가 예언하지 않을 수 있겠느냐?
  4. "너희는 아스돗의 요새들과 이집트 땅의 요새들에게 전하여라. 사마리아의 산 위에 모여서, 그 도성 안에서 일어나는 저 큰 혼란과, 그 속에서 자행되는 억압을 보라고 하여라.
  5. 나 주가 하는 말이다. 그들은 올바른 일을 할 줄 모른다. 그들은, 폭력과 강탈로 탈취한 재물을 저희들의 요새 안에 쌓아 놓는다.
  1. Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD, "An enemy, even one surrounding the land, Will pull down your strength from you And your citadels will be looted."
  2. Thus says the LORD, "Just as the shepherd snatches from the lion's mouth a couple of legs or a piece of an ear, So will the sons of Israel dwelling in Samaria be snatched away-- With the corner of a bed and the cover of a couch!
  3. "Hear and testify against the house of Jacob," Declares the Lord GOD, the God of hosts.
  4. "For on the day that I punish Israel's transgressions, I will also punish the altars of Bethel; The horns of the altar will be cut off And they will fall to the ground.
  5. "I will also smite the winter house together with the summer house; The houses of ivory will also perish And the great houses will come to an end," Declares the LORD.
  1. 그러므로 나 주 하나님이 선고한다. 적군이 이 나라를 포위하고, 너의 방어벽을 허물고, 너의 요새들을 약탈할 것이다.
  2. 나 주가 선고한다. 목자가 사자 입에서 양의 두 다리나 귀 조각 하나를 건져내듯이, 사마리아에 사는 이스라엘 자손도 구출되기는 하지만 침대 모서리와 안락의자의 다리 조각만 겨우 남는 것과 같을 것이다.
  3. 이 말을 듣고서, 야곱 가문에 전하여라. 나 주 하나님, 만군의 하나님이 하는 말이다.
  4. 내가 이스라엘의 죄를 징벌하는 날, 베델의 제단들도 징벌하겠다. 그 때에 제단의 뿔들을 꺾어, 땅에 떨어뜨리겠다.
  5. 또 내가 겨울 별장과 여름 별장을 짓부수겠다. 그러면 상아로 꾸민 집들이 부서지며, 많은 저택들이 사라질 것이다." 주님께서 하신 말씀이다.
