- 미련한 사람이나 지나가는 사람을 고용하는 것은, 궁수가 닥치는 대로 사람을 쏘아대는 것과 같다.
- 개가 그 토한 것을 도로 먹듯이, 미련한 사람은 어리석은 일을 되풀이한다.
- 너는 스스로 지혜롭다 하는 사람을 보았을 것이나, 그런 사람보다는 오히려 미련한 사람에게 더 희망이 있다.
- 게으른 사람은 핑계 대기를 "길에 사자가 있다. 거리에 사자가 있다" 한다.
- 문짝이 돌쩌귀에 붙어서 돌아가듯이, 게으른 사람은 침대에만 붙어서 뒹군다.

- 게으른 사람은 밥그릇에 손을 대고서도, 입에 떠 넣기조차 귀찮아한다.
- 게으른 사람은 재치 있게 대답하는 사람 일곱보다 자기가 더 지혜롭다고 생각한다.
- 자기와 관계없는 싸움에 끼여드는 것은, 사람이 개의 귀를 붙잡는 것과 같다.
- 횃불을 던지고 화살을 쏘아서 사람을 죽이는 미친 사람이 있다.
- 이웃을 속이고서도 "농담도 못하냐?" 하고 말하는 사람도 그러하다.
