- Why do You stand afar off, O LORD? Why do You hide Yourself in times of trouble?
- In pride the wicked hotly pursue the afflicted; Let them be caught in the plots which they have devised.
- For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire, And the greedy man curses and spurns the LORD.
- The wicked, in the haughtiness of his countenance, does not seek Him All his thoughts are, "There is no God."
- His ways prosper at all times; Your judgments are on high, out of his sight; As for all his adversaries, he snorts at them.
|
- Why, O LORD, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?
- In his arrogance the wicked man hunts down the weak, who are caught in the schemes he devises.
- He boasts of the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the LORD.
- In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.
- His ways are always prosperous; he is haughty and your laws are far from him; he sneers at all his enemies.
|
- He says to himself, "I will not be moved; Throughout all generations I will not be in adversity."
- His mouth is full of curses and deceit and oppression; Under his tongue is mischief and wickedness.
- He sits in the lurking places of the villages; In the hiding places he kills the innocent; His eyes stealthily watch for the unfortunate.
- He lurks in a hiding place as a lion in his lair; He lurks to catch the afflicted; He catches the afflicted when he draws him into his net.
- He crouches, he bows down, And the unfortunate fall by his mighty ones.
|
- He says to himself, "Nothing will shake me; I'll always be happy and never have trouble."
- His mouth is full of curses and lies and threats; trouble and evil are under his tongue.
- He lies in wait near the villages; from ambush he murders the innocent, watching in secret for his victims.
- He lies in wait like a lion in cover; he lies in wait to catch the helpless; he catches the helpless and drags them off in his net.
- His victims are crushed, they collapse; they fall under his strength.
|
- He says to himself, "God has forgotten; He has hidden His face; He will never see it."
|
- He says to himself, "God has forgotten; he covers his face and never sees."
