  1. After some days Paul said to Barnabas, "Let us return and visit the brethren in every city in which we proclaimed the word of the Lord, and see how they are."
  2. Barnabas wanted to take John, called Mark, along with them also.
  3. But Paul kept insisting that they should not take him along who had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not gone with them to the work.
  4. And there occurred such a sharp disagreement that they separated from one another, and Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed away to Cyprus.
  5. But Paul chose Silas and left, being committed by the brethren to the grace of the Lord.
  1. Some time later Paul said to Barnabas, "Let us go back and visit the brothers in all the towns where we preached the word of the Lord and see how they are doing."
  2. Barnabas wanted to take John, also called Mark, with them,
  3. but Paul did not think it wise to take him, because he had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not continued with them in the work.
  4. They had such a sharp disagreement that they parted company. Barnabas took Mark and sailed for Cyprus,
  5. but Paul chose Silas and left, commended by the brothers to the grace of the Lord.
  1. And he was traveling through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.

  1. Paul came also to Derbe and to Lystra And a disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewish woman who was a believer, but his father was a Greek,
  2. and he was well spoken of by the brethren who were in Lystra and Iconium.
  3. Paul wanted this man to go with him; and he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those parts, for they all knew that his father was a Greek.
  4. Now while they were passing through the cities, they were delivering the decrees which had been decided upon by the apostles and elders who were in Jerusalem, for them to observe.
  5. So the churches were being strengthened in the faith, and were increasing in number daily.
  1. He came to Derbe and then to Lystra, where a disciple named Timothy lived, whose mother was a Jewess and a believer, but whose father was a Greek.
  2. The brothers at Lystra and Iconium spoke well of him.
  3. Paul wanted to take him along on the journey, so he circumcised him because of the Jews who lived in that area, for they all knew that his father was a Greek.
  4. As they traveled from town to town, they delivered the decisions reached by the apostles and elders in Jerusalem for the people to obey.
  5. So the churches were strengthened in the faith and grew daily in numbers.
  1. They passed through the Phrygian and Galatian region, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia;
  2. and after they came to Mysia, they were trying to go into Bithynia, and the Spirit of Jesus did not permit them;
  3. and passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas.
  4. A vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing and appealing to him, and saying, "Come over to Macedonia and help us."
  5. When he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.
  1. Paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia.
  2. When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to.
  3. So they passed by Mysia and went down to Troas.
  4. During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, "Come over to Macedonia and help us."
  5. After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.
  1. So putting out to sea from Troas, we ran a straight course to Samothrace, and on the day following to Neapolis;
  2. and from there to Philippi, which is a leading city of the district of Macedonia, a Roman colony; and we were staying in this city for some days.
  3. And on the Sabbath day we went outside the gate to a riverside, where we were supposing that there would be a place of prayer; and we sat down and began speaking to the women who had assembled.
  4. A woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple fabrics, a worshiper of God, was listening; and the Lord opened her heart to respond to the things spoken by Paul.
  5. And when she and her household had been baptized, she urged us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house and stay." And she prevailed upon us.
  1. From Troas we put out to sea and sailed straight for Samothrace, and the next day on to Neapolis.
  2. From there we traveled to Philippi, a Roman colony and the leading city of that district of Macedonia. And we stayed there several days.
  3. On the Sabbath we went outside the city gate to the river, where we expected to find a place of prayer. We sat down and began to speak to the women who had gathered there.
  4. One of those listening was a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth from the city of Thyatira, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul's message.
  5. When she and the members of her household were baptized, she invited us to her home. "If you consider me a believer in the Lord," she said, "come and stay at my house." And she persuaded us.
