  1. Then Job answered,
  2. "I have heard many such things; Sorry comforters are you all.
  3. "Is there no limit to windy words? Or what plagues you that you answer?
  4. "I too could speak like you, If I were in your place. I could compose words against you And shake my head at you.
  5. "I could strengthen you with my mouth, And the solace of my lips could lessen your pain.
  1. Then Job replied:
  2. "I have heard many things like these; miserable comforters are you all!
  3. Will your long-winded speeches never end? What ails you that you keep on arguing?
  4. I also could speak like you, if you were in my place; I could make fine speeches against you and shake my head at you.
  5. But my mouth would encourage you; comfort from my lips would bring you relief.
  1. "If I speak, my pain is not lessened, And if I hold back, what has left me?
  2. "But now He has exhausted me; You have laid waste all my company.
  3. "You have shriveled me up, It has become a witness; And my leanness rises up against me, It testifies to my face.
  4. "His anger has torn me and hunted me down, He has gnashed at me with His teeth; My adversary glares at me.
  5. "They have gaped at me with their mouth, They have slapped me on the cheek with contempt; They have massed themselves against me.
  1. "Yet if I speak, my pain is not relieved; and if I refrain, it does not go away.
  2. Surely, O God, you have worn me out; you have devastated my entire household.
  3. You have bound me--and it has become a witness; my gauntness rises up and testifies against me.
  4. God assails me and tears me in his anger and gnashes his teeth at me; my opponent fastens on me his piercing eyes.
  5. Men open their mouths to jeer at me; they strike my cheek in scorn and unite together against me.
  1. "God hands me over to ruffians And tosses me into the hands of the wicked.
  2. "I was at ease, but He shattered me, And He has grasped me by the neck and shaken me to pieces; He has also set me up as His target.
  3. "His arrows surround me Without mercy He splits my kidneys open; He pours out my gall on the ground.
  4. "He breaks through me with breach after breach; He runs at me like a warrior.
  5. "I have sewed sackcloth over my skin And thrust my horn in the dust.
  1. God has turned me over to evil men and thrown me into the clutches of the wicked.
  2. All was well with me, but he shattered me; he seized me by the neck and crushed me. He has made me his target;
  3. his archers surround me. Without pity, he pierces my kidneys and spills my gall on the ground.
  4. Again and again he bursts upon me; he rushes at me like a warrior.
  5. "I have sewed sackcloth over my skin and buried my brow in the dust.
  1. "My face is flushed from weeping, And deep darkness is on my eyelids,
  2. Although there is no violence in my hands, And my prayer is pure.
  3. "O earth, do not cover my blood, And let there be no resting place for my cry.
  4. "Even now, behold, my witness is in heaven, And my advocate is on high.
  5. "My friends are my scoffers; My eye weeps to God.
  1. My face is red with weeping, deep shadows ring my eyes;
  2. yet my hands have been free of violence and my prayer is pure.
  3. "O earth, do not cover my blood; may my cry never be laid to rest!
  4. Even now my witness is in heaven; my advocate is on high.
  5. My intercessor is my friend as my eyes pour out tears to God;
  1. "O that a man might plead with God As a man with his neighbor!
  2. "For when a few years are past, I shall go the way of no return.
  1. on behalf of a man he pleads with God as a man pleads for his friend.
  2. "Only a few years will pass before I go on the journey of no return.

  1. "My spirit is broken, my days are extinguished, The grave is ready for me.
  2. "Surely mockers are with me, And my eye gazes on their provocation.
  3. "Lay down, now, a pledge for me with Yourself; Who is there that will be my guarantor?
  4. "For You have kept their heart from understanding, Therefore You will not exalt them.
  5. "He who informs against friends for a share of the spoil, The eyes of his children also will languish.
  1. My spirit is broken, my days are cut short, the grave awaits me.
  2. Surely mockers surround me; my eyes must dwell on their hostility.
  3. "Give me, O God, the pledge you demand. Who else will put up security for me?
  4. You have closed their minds to understanding; therefore you will not let them triumph.
  5. If a man denounces his friends for reward, the eyes of his children will fail.
  1. "But He has made me a byword of the people, And I am one at whom men spit.
  2. "My eye has also grown dim because of grief, And all my members are as a shadow.
  3. "The upright will be appalled at this, And the innocent will stir up himself against the godless.
  4. "Nevertheless the righteous will hold to his way, And he who has clean hands will grow stronger and stronger.
  5. "But come again all of you now, For I do not find a wise man among you.
  1. "God has made me a byword to everyone, a man in whose face people spit.
  2. My eyes have grown dim with grief; my whole frame is but a shadow.
  3. Upright men are appalled at this; the innocent are aroused against the ungodly.
  4. Nevertheless, the righteous will hold to their ways, and those with clean hands will grow stronger.
  5. "But come on, all of you, try again! I will not find a wise man among you.
  1. "My days are past, my plans are torn apart, Even the wishes of my heart.
  2. "They make night into day, saying, 'The light is near,' in the presence of darkness.
  3. "If I look for Sheol as my home, I make my bed in the darkness;
  4. If I call to the pit, 'You are my father'; To the worm, 'my mother and my sister';
  5. Where now is my hope? And who regards my hope?
  1. My days have passed, my plans are shattered, and so are the desires of my heart.
  2. These men turn night into day; in the face of darkness they say, 'Light is near.'
  3. If the only home I hope for is the grave, if I spread out my bed in darkness,
  4. if I say to corruption, 'You are my father,' and to the worm, 'My mother' or 'My sister,'
  5. where then is my hope? Who can see any hope for me?
  1. "Will it go down with me to Sheol? Shall we together go down into the dust?"
  1. Will it go down to the gates of death ? Will we descend together into the dust?"

  1. Then Bildad the Shuhite responded,
  2. "How long will you hunt for words? Show understanding and then we can talk.
  3. "Why are we regarded as beasts, As stupid in your eyes?
  4. "O you who tear yourself in your anger-- For your sake is the earth to be abandoned, Or the rock to be moved from its place?
  5. "Indeed, the light of the wicked goes out, And the flame of his fire gives no light.
  1. Then Bildad the Shuhite replied:
  2. "When will you end these speeches? Be sensible, and then we can talk.
  3. Why are we regarded as cattle and considered stupid in your sight?
  4. You who tear yourself to pieces in your anger, is the earth to be abandoned for your sake? Or must the rocks be moved from their place?
  5. "The lamp of the wicked is snuffed out; the flame of his fire stops burning.
  1. "The light in his tent is darkened, And his lamp goes out above him.
  2. "His vigorous stride is shortened, And his own scheme brings him down.
  3. "For he is thrown into the net by his own feet, And he steps on the webbing.
  4. "A snare seizes him by the heel, And a trap snaps shut on him.
  5. "A noose for him is hidden in the ground, And a trap for him on the path.
  1. The light in his tent becomes dark; the lamp beside him goes out.
  2. The vigor of his step is weakened; his own schemes throw him down.
  3. His feet thrust him into a net and he wanders into its mesh.
  4. A trap seizes him by the heel; a snare holds him fast.
  5. A noose is hidden for him on the ground; a trap lies in his path.
  1. "All around terrors frighten him, And harry him at every step.
  2. "His strength is famished, And calamity is ready at his side.
  3. "His skin is devoured by disease, The firstborn of death devours his limbs.
  4. "He is torn from the security of his tent, And they march him before the king of terrors.
  5. "There dwells in his tent nothing of his; Brimstone is scattered on his habitation.
  1. Terrors startle him on every side and dog his every step.
  2. Calamity is hungry for him; disaster is ready for him when he falls.
  3. It eats away parts of his skin; death's firstborn devours his limbs.
  4. He is torn from the security of his tent and marched off to the king of terrors.
  5. Fire resides in his tent; burning sulfur is scattered over his dwelling.
  1. "His roots are dried below, And his branch is cut off above.
  2. "Memory of him perishes from the earth, And he has no name abroad.
  3. "He is driven from light into darkness, And chased from the inhabited world.
  4. "He has no offspring or posterity among his people, Nor any survivor where he sojourned.
  5. "Those in the west are appalled at his fate, And those in the east are seized with horror.
  1. His roots dry up below and his branches wither above.
  2. The memory of him perishes from the earth; he has no name in the land.
  3. He is driven from light into darkness and is banished from the world.
  4. He has no offspring or descendants among his people, no survivor where once he lived.
  5. Men of the west are appalled at his fate; men of the east are seized with horror.
  1. "Surely such are the dwellings of the wicked, And this is the place of him who does not know God."
  1. Surely such is the dwelling of an evil man; such is the place of one who knows not God."

  ¿éÀÇ ´äº¯(19:1-19:29)

  1. Then Job responded,
  2. "How long will you torment me And crush me with words?
  3. "These ten times you have insulted me; You are not ashamed to wrong me.
  4. "Even if I have truly erred, My error lodges with me.
  5. "If indeed you vaunt yourselves against me And prove my disgrace to me,
  1. Then Job replied:
  2. "How long will you torment me and crush me with words?
  3. Ten times now you have reproached me; shamelessly you attack me.
  4. If it is true that I have gone astray, my error remains my concern alone.
  5. If indeed you would exalt yourselves above me and use my humiliation against me,
  1. Know then that God has wronged me And has closed His net around me.
  2. "Behold, I cry, 'Violence!' but I get no answer; I shout for help, but there is no justice.
  3. "He has walled up my way so that I cannot pass, And He has put darkness on my paths.
  4. "He has stripped my honor from me And removed the crown from my head.
  5. "He breaks me down on every side, and I am gone; And He has uprooted my hope like a tree.
  1. then know that God has wronged me and drawn his net around me.
  2. "Though I cry, 'I've been wronged!' I get no response; though I call for help, there is no justice.
  3. He has blocked my way so I cannot pass; he has shrouded my paths in darkness.
  4. He has stripped me of my honor and removed the crown from my head.
  5. He tears me down on every side till I am gone; he uproots my hope like a tree.
  1. "He has also kindled His anger against me And considered me as His enemy.
  2. "His troops come together, And build up their way against me And camp around my tent.
  3. "He has removed my brothers far from me, And my acquaintances are completely estranged from me.
  4. "My relatives have failed, And my intimate friends have forgotten me.
  5. "Those who live in my house and my maids consider me a stranger. I am a foreigner in their sight.
  1. His anger burns against me; he counts me among his enemies.
  2. His troops advance in force; they build a siege ramp against me and encamp around my tent.
  3. "He has alienated my brothers from me; my acquaintances are completely estranged from me.
  4. My kinsmen have gone away; my friends have forgotten me.
  5. My guests and my maidservants count me a stranger; they look upon me as an alien.
  1. "I call to my servant, but he does not answer; I have to implore him with my mouth.
  2. "My breath is offensive to my wife, And I am loathsome to my own brothers.
  3. "Even young children despise me; I rise up and they speak against me.
  4. "All my associates abhor me, And those I love have turned against me.
  5. "My bone clings to my skin and my flesh, And I have escaped only by the skin of my teeth.
  1. I summon my servant, but he does not answer, though I beg him with my own mouth.
  2. My breath is offensive to my wife; I am loathsome to my own brothers.
  3. Even the little boys scorn me; when I appear, they ridicule me.
  4. All my intimate friends detest me; those I love have turned against me.
  5. I am nothing but skin and bones; I have escaped with only the skin of my teeth.
  1. "Pity me, pity me, O you my friends, For the hand of God has struck me.
  2. "Why do you persecute me as God does, And are not satisfied with my flesh?
  3. "Oh that my words were written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book!
  4. "That with an iron stylus and lead They were engraved in the rock forever!
  5. "As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, And at the last He will take His stand on the earth.
  1. "Have pity on me, my friends, have pity, for the hand of God has struck me.
  2. Why do you pursue me as God does? Will you never get enough of my flesh?
  3. "Oh, that my words were recorded, that they were written on a scroll,
  4. that they were inscribed with an iron tool on lead, or engraved in rock forever!
  5. I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth.
  1. "Even after my skin is destroyed, Yet from my flesh I shall see God;
  2. Whom I myself shall behold, And whom my eyes will see and not another. My heart faints within me!
  3. "If you say, 'How shall we persecute him?' And 'What pretext for a case against him can we find?'
  4. "Then be afraid of the sword for yourselves, For wrath brings the punishment of the sword, So that you may know there is judgment."
  1. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God;
  2. I myself will see him with my own eyes--I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!
  3. "If you say, 'How we will hound him, since the root of the trouble lies in him, '
  4. you should fear the sword yourselves; for wrath will bring punishment by the sword, and then you will know that there is judgment. "
