  1. While He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, came up accompanied by a large crowd with swords and clubs, who came from the chief priests and elders of the people.
  2. Now he who was betraying Him gave them a sign, saying, "Whomever I kiss, He is the one; seize Him."
  3. Immediately Judas went to Jesus and said, "Hail, Rabbi!" and kissed Him.
  4. And Jesus said to him, "Friend, do what you have come for." Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and seized Him.
  5. And behold, one of those who were with Jesus reached and drew out his sword, and struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his ear.
  1. And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.
  2. Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.
  3. And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.
  4. And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus and took him.
  5. And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear.
  1. Then Jesus said to him, "Put your sword back into its place; for all those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword.
  2. "Or do you think that I cannot appeal to My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels?
  3. "How then will the Scriptures be fulfilled, which say that it must happen this way?"
  4. At that time Jesus said to the crowds, "Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest Me as you would against a robber? Every day I used to sit in the temple teaching and you did not seize Me.
  5. "But all this has taken place to fulfill the Scriptures of the prophets." Then all the disciples left Him and fled.
  1. Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
  2. Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?
  3. But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?
  4. In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.
  5. But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.
  1. Those who had seized Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas, the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together.
  2. But Peter was following Him at a distance as far as the courtyard of the high priest, and entered in, and sat down with the officers to see the outcome.
  3. Now the chief priests and the whole Council kept trying to obtain false testimony against Jesus, so that they might put Him to death.
  4. They did not find any, even though many false witnesses came forward. But later on two came forward,
  5. and said, "This man stated, 'I am able to destroy the temple of God and to rebuild it in three days.'"
  1. And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.
  2. But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.
  3. Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;
  4. But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,
  5. And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.
  1. The high priest stood up and said to Him, "Do You not answer? What is it that these men are testifying against You?"
  2. But Jesus kept silent And the high priest said to Him, "I adjure You by the living God, that You tell us whether You are the Christ, the Son of God."
  3. Jesus said to him, "You have said it yourself; nevertheless I tell you, hereafter you will see THE SON OF MAN SITTING AT THE RIGHT HAND OF POWER, and COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN."
  4. Then the high priest tore his robes and said, "He has blasphemed! What further need do we have of witnesses? Behold, you have now heard the blasphemy;
  5. what do you think?" They answered, "He deserves death!"
  1. And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?
  2. But Jesus held his peace, And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.
  3. Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
  4. Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.
  5. What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.
  1. Then they spat in His face and beat Him with their fists; and others slapped Him,
  2. and said, "Prophesy to us, You Christ; who is the one who hit You?"
  1. Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands,
  2. Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?
